I'm a changeling, did you know that?
It explains absolutely everything about me.
Including the fact that I can talk to faeries.
Hooray for faeries!

Are you the child taken or the dead thing left? Because the thing left behind isn't supposed to be alive.

I'm the one what was taken, turned into Maleficent's little sister that nobody talks about, realized I was bored in Faerie and came here on holiday.
Zombies are nowhere near as well-dressed.
Get it right. I'm way more cool than a zombie. I'm ... well, yeah, I'm undead, but that's beside the point... <_<;
Dammit...
A thousand years over there, and I come back to this...

If it didn't work, it's because you were trying to make it happen in a way you want it to happen.
You can't do it like that.
You have to be open to it, and wait, and pay attention... and be prepared for it to be nothing like what you expect.
I've heard them over the croaking of frogs on misty nights, in between the sounds of the wind, and in the scratching of little critters.
I see them in the patterns of the bark of trees, dancing like tiny lights in the bright open air, and shifting colourfully in the shadows in the dark.
The way we think and act is unlike them. We've grown away from nature, but they've always been here with us, and if the truth were known, we'd know where we really came from. The Celts knew them as the ancient ancestral spirits of those who were here before, if that tells you anything.
It took a long time for them to trust me. Now I can talk to them, and they answer me.
And the doctors call it psychosis. Poor doctors.

Ooh, I want a Pimms cup!
Oh, and the Laws of Faery are a human invention. I know, because I'm a storyteller like those people were.
There's no law in Faerie. It's patterns in chaos.
You should go sometime, it's like a dream. A really weird, psychotic dream, lol.

I use the term Law as to define it from chaos. It's more a natural soulbound instinct but they follow it all the same and get before insulted if you don't obey it.

That's like me view on the idea of a chaotic universe. I say patterns can come out of chaos (think the proverbial room full of monkeys with typewriters), and that these patterns can learn to perpetuate themselves (a bit like DNA in that regard). Though I fully admit that I like the idea of a chaotic universe because of it's implications on the question of free will.

That... Makes a lot of sense actually. I tried it a while back. I've changed a lot since then, so maybe (with all that in mind) give it another go

I think in an infinite universe of (possibly) inestimable age, certain finite things tend to repeat.
They're finite, after all. Patterns emerge, dissolve, re-emerge, perpetuate themselves, and it's all chaos.
Real chaos is both order and chaos. Both the part we favour and emulate and the part we don't.
Just like each person is both what they like about themselves and what they disown of themselves.
All in one, one in all, same yet different, same difference.
Trees don't grow in alphabetical order, nor are stars aligned in grids. But we can make it seem that way, to help us understand these things.
All divisions and labels and separations and "things" are just agreed-upon designations for recognizable patterns in a whole which, if undivided in our conscious minds and categorized for convenience, would drive us mad.
I let it take me, and went mad. I followed the rabbit hole out the other side.
I'm not mad or sane any more, because I know better. I'm evolved chaos. ^_^
Evolved chaos eating a macaroon, how fun!

It's just a pseudo-intelligent way of saying that we have systems of organization for everything.
And chaos, by definition, does not repeat.

*curls up on cloud and observes* There may be repeating patterns in infinite chaos, however, but I am not sure there would be. Infinite chaos would mean infinite things to bind in infinite patterns with no need to repeat. Unless we squint our eyes and make up the patterns to comfort ourselves because mind can't really comprehend utter chaos, it needs some kind of patterns, repetition, borders, something stable.
---------- Post added 08-02-2014 at 04:33 PM ----------
Which, apparently, was kind of stated above me. Only I stick to the opinion that these patterns were acclaimed to exist, but it doesn't mean they're more real than just our view of them. Which means, only order in chaos is pretended one we've made up. Which then probably means either that faeries are not the absolute chaos and there are actual laws of faerie, defined by their intelligence and pride and diminished by their natural chaotic behavior, or there are none.
