Just to clarify... the pickle is mandatory, right?
No one can finagle their way around that crunchy tasty briney goodness can they?

Strangely enough, even though it wasn't my intention to include the pickle...the first story I've come up with involves one...

Well I get that, but, is there a story behind that I should know about? Or is it just during winter times?

There should be lots of stories behind it after we finish, though!

Okay if there isn't a main one and it's just the season they're using, then I should be able to come up with something soon. However, I don't like doing JUST short stories, so let's see if I can pull this off first.

I understand that we're to use correct English spelling, grammar and punctuation and will be judged on this...so I'm wondering, would we be penalised for using correct English but different...like American vs British English in terms of spelling of words like colour rather than color?

That's a good question. I assumed just English. But, I didn't know there was much of a difference.

Mostly it's a matter of spelling, Ranie. After the American Revolution, Americans decided to change a lot of spellings in a childish attempt to prove they were different than the British. The biggest differences are that a lot of words with an 'ou' like colour or labour are spelled with just an 'o' in America, and a lot with 'ae' are supposed to just be 'e'. That said, I only learned last week that the appropriate American spelling of archaeology is archeology when it came up with squiggly red lines under it. I promptly laughed in my computer's face, because I don't think any archaeologist spells it with only one a.

EDIT: OMG my second entry almost made me cry. It was sooooo cute. I can't wait to tell people later who wrote it :3

Hm... I'm so satisfied with my first effort-- or will be once it's been proofread-- that I don't know if I can come up with a second... *steeples fingers and considers*

Festival of Winter Nights usually goes on about a week here in Menewsha. It's exactly like what it's called, a festival celebrating the winter season. As for the unique theme an event usually has, that will be revealed when the event starts later. :D
If you're still wondering and would like to see how the past years's events were run, check out the Event Archive. They're all stored there.

Ling: Oh, you don't have to worry about that, it doesn't really matter to me whichever you use so long as it's constant throughout the whole entry.

I use British English myself because it's what I was taught in school but I grew up surrounded by American media, so I sometimes slip into either usage without realising.
