Well if you are using photobucket click on the image to have it alone in the page and see some options above it, one of the is rezise, it should be always less than 500px ok? =)

which scanner do you have? and which software do you use to scan the images?
problem I see is that you use a big page and do the pic on a side and then scan the page and do not select the AREA you need to scan so when you rezise It looks of course very small because you are not selecting just the picture but the whole page in which you did it.
If you dont know how to select only the image my suggestion is for you to work on a smaller page cover the whole surface with your pic, example a quarter of the page or half of it.
