@ Candyland - university has actually made me enjoy writing essays - the sick bastards. xD
I'm more comfortable writing an essay than a story now, because my essays complete dwarf my creative work! (In volume, anyway)
I didn't get the top grade for that essay, but I was one mark off! And it wasn't bad, since my tutor was the most senior professor in the department - Mr Mainstream-Published big shot! It was his last year teaching. At least he gave me the top grade in my exam. I wrote about Babbitt - and My Antonia, which I adore even more than Ethan Frome! It's not as cruel, but just as beautiful.

@ fairywaif - I'll have to add them to my every expanding list! (:
Did you have a particular favorite that you think would be best to start with, or just leave it to luck of the draw? Aka on whatever level my library feels like cooperating with me. xD
@Pearl - Congrats all around then! :D What's it like working with a published author?! I would be so intimidated that even the idea of having them critique my stuff would probably make my hyper ventilate myself into passing out. xD
And I get exactly what you mean about essays, I've noticed the change in myself already and I'm still only in highschool. University and I will be an interesting pair.

I'm in it for the content as far as Pottermore is concerned. I got really lucky and got in on the 5th day. The clue was easy but it took some googling to figure out when the clue would be released and lots of refreshing.

Darn it, I'm being called away to help with dinner. ):
It was lovely talking to all of you though, I will definitely be back later to revel in the joys of literature. xD

@ Candyland - it's less intimidating when you think he's a bit of a lazy arse. The exam paper he 'wrote' for this summer was exactly the same one as last year. xD
He wasn't a brilliant teacher but most of the books were so brilliant that the class carried itself. I mean, 2nd year English students can handle their own analysis!
Are you starting college soon? What part of the country are you headed for - gonna be an English major? 8D
(And crikey, you were born the same year as my younger twin siblings xD They're October babies)

I'm in college, but I haven't written many essays yet. I'm transferring to a harder school next year, and I expect it'll be more rigorous.

I only write 6 essays a semester - which is 12 weeks.
They can be as short as 1500 words, usually 2000-2500 words, and every so often 3000 words. Hate those ones. >.>

I got 2,000 my first time so that's better than me. It's a lot easier to type than to write by hand.

I'm just not very inspired on the creative front. My current idea is for a children's book (8-12 range) about some magic wooden coin things. xD

The highest I've ever gotten on NaNoWriMo is 18,000 last year. I hope to get at least 30,000 this year, but I'll have to see.

Eh it really depends on the college as to what they'll expect; I've been to 4 so far. 2 community, 2 4-year.
I got 10k words last year, but then again, finals were during november, so it didn't really work out so well for me.

@ Skrare - why so many institutions of higher education? I've been to one, but I'm doing an exchange to an American uni in a couple of weeks!

I am currently reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation. It is an interesting novel even if it did get off to a slow start.

I'm 40 pages into The Satanic Verses, the book which nearly got Salman Rushdie killed.
It's ok, I s'pose.

@Pearl
Because I've switched majors 3 times, and am working on a certificate, after getting an associate's and bachelor's degree.
I'm a bit indecisive..

I always planned to do English, it was an easy decision for me. The only other thing I'm good at is History, and I toyed with that idea, but in the end I find English easier.

I want to either do scientific research, or write, maybe both.
