Thanks for the welcome.
Is this a Firefly style space station or a Star Trek style space station?

I've never seen Firefly, so I wouldn't know what those look like. It's not really a Star Trek style space station either....Or a Stargate type for that matter. An image of our little station is on the front page in the introduction post.

It kinda looks like Deep Space 9.

Hm...never thought about that. I just helped design the place when it was in the blueprint stage.

It's really snazzy, well, what I've seen of it so far.

Just don't go to Deck 35. It's not finished yet, so the life-support isn't working down there and it's halfway exposed to outer space.

That sounds dangerous, I'll make sure to stay away from there.

That's why I've got forcefields sectioning it off from the rest of the station. As long as they stay in place, we're safe.

We still haven't decided on where to point our curiosity yet.....

Though there is this reverse black hole that's a bit intriguing.

Oh, now that could be worth a look.
Do you think that it's actually the other end of a black hole?

You're probably thinking a wormhole. Wormhole's have two ends, and they're literally rips in the space-time continuum. Also, they don't consume anything and everything that gets too close; it just pops out, usually intact, in another area of space. Black holes on the other hand consume everything that gets in too close, and nothing can escape; not even light. With a wormhole, we can track what goes beyond the event horizon. With a black hole, anything that goes past the event horizon is gone for good, which is why it's called a black hole.

But this thing, it's doing the reverse; if it was a wormhole then we wouldn't be getting nothing but a mass of subatomic particles like we are; it'd be atoms, molecules, and even chunks of spacejunk.

In other words, we don't know what the hell it is. And black holes don't barf.

Then it would be interesting to see some tests run.

Yeah it would. Plus, it's spitting out more mass and energy than what we can actually see.

So what are we gonna use to run tests on it? X-ray? Scanners? A net to catch the stuff it spews out? The ghost? :D

Ghost: Hey!

I'm trying to find the elecromagnetic wavelength that this crazy thing is spitting out. I can't even find it with radio wavelenths!

@ghost: What? You're dead anyway right? You don't need to breath

I know this may sound silly Chief, but would microphones work? I remember reading somewhere that even though there isn't any air in outer space, all the activity of the stars and supernova explosions lightyears away still make noise  We just can't hear them without air but machines can pick 'em up supposedly.

And is that really how the jets are lined up before they take off? O_o They all move together like that? They look a little too close to each other ....

Ghost: That doesn't mean that I like being stuck in front of a subatomic-particle fountain!

I dunno about th microphone deal...after, space is a vacuum, so I doubt it would work. Whoever was talking about that was probably thinking about the shockwaves that a supernova would let off. It would be the best to spot in big clouds of dust and gas like the Horshead Nebula or the Lagoon Nebula.

As for my siggy pic, I've got no idea. And I doubt they're as close as you think they are, as that's a head-on photo. As to why those guys have their jets lined up, it's probably for some kind of manuever. Or not, but if now I've got no idea.

I guess it was something about shockwaves after all. I can't remember :XP

Did you by any chance hear when NASA was going to announce something about extraterrestrial life? I got soo excited for it but then when they finally released what they discovered it got me a little down. I really thought they might have found something else in outer space that looked like life, even if it was something vague like those bacteria 'fossils' they found on Mars. At least that was actually from another planet. But no....*sigh*

I don't think they'll find extraterrestial life in our lifetimes. If they do, I'll be very simple.

I don't mind if it's just bacteria. I just want it to be alien! :squee:

So what foods are you looking forward to this Christmas? =3
