As a kid your told that those things that go bump in the night are just your imagination. As a teen you accept that what the adults say is true yet you wish that it was not, and as an adult you ether forget what you had wished for or keep seeing things out of the corner of your eyes. But when you turn what you thought you saw is not what you saw. Or is it?
Quote:
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy
to quote Shakespeare. Here at SI (Special Investigation) we work hard so that you don't have to know. It is our job to keep the supernatural crimes from clogging up the regular police forces work load. If we let them take those cases that they wont even accept what was the killer then the Police force would be over run with cold cases. Think you can run with the big dogs now that you know? Well lets hope you can work fast, fight hard and keep your head up in this stew that we call a District.
Each investigator is assigned to a District, which usually covers a few towns and one big city. We give you all the tool you need to fight the darkness but if you fall we will have to clean up after you. And let me tell you we don't like cleaning up after sloppy newbie's. Now don't get me wrong you will have a training period before we set you up, but its not long and we need you out there NOW!

Cold cases were said to be the bottom of the tole pole. People didn't really get promoted from there. Ina stared blankly at her screen hoping for something new. A quick glance at the clock reminded her that she had been off for nearly two hours. Hell the office was already partial dark. With a few clicks of her mouse she had opened up a program of hers to monitor all recent activity. In her years of working in the cold cases there was one that had caught her attention. There was plenty of evidence and witnesses yet they hadn't been able to close the case or get close to the preparatory. It drove her insane that she couldn't close this case. The worst part was there were children involved with it. Just as she was about to close out of it and head home a file popped up on her screen. As she clicked the file open she scanned over it and smiled. That smile of course fell when she realized where it was.
"damn it..." She muttered as she printed the files off. Grabbing her coat, gun, badge, and phone she headed to her lieutenant.
As she opened the door to his office she smiled. "I am heading to London. There is a lead on case number 376. So if you could call them and let them know I am on my way that would be great."
"that case is going to drive you insane..." He commented idly as he looked up from some paperwork. "Am i to guess you already have the plane waiting for you?"
"Yes...I need to get a move on with this one." Ina said with a nod of her head.
"Contact me when you get in." With that he waved her off.

The drive to the air field was boring to say the least. In the car she read over the file and tried to figure out how she was going to get along with whoever she ended up stuck with.

Flipping through the files stacked onto his desk, Inspector Lewis stopped frowning. Pulling the file out he slowly read through it. It was not a file he usually would have expected to cross his desk, three children dead with damage to their backs. Two of them seemed to have killed each other, yet no weapon had been found. In fact other then the marks along their backs, there seemed to be no reason for the kids to be dead. Shaking his head William walked out of his office. “Alright who put this case into the stack?” The sergeants’ around him stopped and gave him a blank look.
“What case sir?” The speaker was new to his small squid and had not seen him do this before. Looking around at the other Sergeants’’ she ducked her head back to the work she was doing. The others were used to files appearing that did not seem to fall in their field of work. But every time one came Inspector Lewis would assign someone to help him and they would close the case, even if it was just to say it was an accident.
“IS Smith,” the woman who had spoken up looked up at Inspector Lewis with a sheepish look. “Look into this file, find out all you can.” She nodded taking the file. “And I expect that I will be having someone here soon for me. Show them in when they get here."
"yes sir." One of the other Sergeants answered then went back to the case he was trying to clear. Inspector Lewis walked back into his office and sat down. Another one, there seems to be an upsurge in SI work this quarter. But this one, have I seen it before? Or was the case one that I read about in the main report?

Ina slowly woke as the plan went in for its landing in at Heathrow airport. Rubbing her eyes she put the files she had been reading in to her bag. Luckily she didn't have to wait for her luggage being hat she only brought a single carry on. After hailing a cab and instructing the driver to take her to Scotland yard she checked her phone messages. It seemed that her lieutenant had not been able to get a hold of the man that she needed but left a message for him.
"here we are ma'am." the driver called drawing her from her thoughts.
"thank you." Ina said with a smile. After paying him she climbed out of the cab. taking a moment she smoothed her skirt and straightened her jacket. Surprisingly the sun was out. Pushing her over sized sun glasses up her nose she pulled her hair out of her ponytail and shook it out. Pulling her purse up on her shoulder she headed into the building. Walking in she couldn't help but be slightly annoyed by all the noise. That was perhaps the one advantage of her job it was nearly always quiet in the office. Making her way to the front desk she smiled at the officer who was sitting there.
"May i help you ma'am." He asked.
"Yes i am looking for Inspector Lewis." Ina said with a smile.
"Right let me get someone to escort you back." He said kindly. With that he called over another officer who took her back to the inspectors department. As they walked back she took in everything around her. As they entered the department Ina was slightly surprised to see all the detectives at their desks working rather quietly. She was lead past all the desk to an office. The officer that she was with knocked on the door before he opened it.
"Inspector you have a detective Ina Ululani from interpol..." He said before stepping out of the way to allow Ina to be seen.
"Inspector." Ina said in way of greeting.

“Let me guess,” Inspector Lewis growled then looked up. “You’re here about the kids.” Taking her in, he smirked. “Not exactly what I expected from SI, I hope you’re up to the job.” He could the shimmer around her that was the halo that mages seemed to collect of magic. “Thank you constable, I was expecting her.” Waiting for the Constable to shut the door William pointed to the chair. “Would you care to have a seat detective?’

Ina forced a smile on to her face when he mentioned something about her not looking like she was up to the job. It really irritated her when people judged her for how she looked. She was good at her job and if she worked better with others there was no doubt she would be a lot high up in the standings. Sitting down on the chair she waited until the constable had left the room. Looking over the inspector in front of her she noticed that he was using a glamor to hide that he was an elf.
"thank you Inspector." Ina said evenly. "Do you have anything new on the case that wasn't in the file?" Ina wasn't the type to waste time on personal conversations.

“Right to the point I like that. I don’t have much, sergeant LaHaress looked into it last night and I had the coroner’s report drawn up for you. I suspected that I had seen a case like this before and that cold case would be involved.” Flipping a file towards her he laced his fingers together. “so where did this last happen? I could not find any records of it here in the united kingdom, so it is traveling.” It was true that Sam LaHaress had looked into the murders but she would not accepted what she had seen so Inspector Lewis had had to relieve her from duty today. Not only was he down one person today but up a body. “I had the coroner prep the bodies and was just getting ready to go over there, would you care to join me?”

"Three countries so far...but there is a belief that there may be more in countries that we don't have a strong presence or don't have reliable police." Ina said as she flipped through the file. Most everything in there she had already read. Sadly there wasn't really any new information in the file. The creature wasn't getting careless and it wasn't getting better. All in all it was getting frustrating. This was the first kills in three years. "Of course i would love to see the bodies...and if someone could take me to where they were found that would be great."

“The location the first body was found you won’t be able to see as it was just brought down today. Upon receiving the file I got on the phone but as I am actually Inspector of motor crimes they did not think that I had any say to the case.” Standing up he opened the door for her. “Most of my sergeants’ know that I have odd cases appear on my desk and that I clear them, other than that, they don’t ask. But it is not the same with the higher ups. All they can see is that the case was cleared their minds just don’t see my name attached to it, so no special favorers.” Leading her to the Motor Pool he opened the car door for her. “Would you like a car assigned to you while you’re here? They can come with a driver if you like.”

Ina frowned a bit when she listened to him speak about the other detectives and such. "I will need the name of the person who is working the crime scene of the one from today." she said in a slightly annoyed tone. From the sounds of it she would have to be working with more than just one person and that was going to be a test of her patients. "Yes a car would be very helpful...and a name of a hotel that is nice, and isn't to far from here would be helpful too." From the sound of it these people would not be easy to work with.

“Welcome to London.” William said sarcastically. “There is not much he will tell you, other than it was a crying shame. I had tried to get him to call it in to get a hold on the demolition on the building but he told me to piss off.” Carefully navigating the streets he seemed to find just the right opening at the right moment. “Best place to stay is the Yard hotel, which is just outside the gates of Scotland Yard; you most likely saw it as you drove in. they are used to housing officers of Interpol and other police agencies so you should not be interrupted and the cleaning staff won’t mind seeing bloody files.”

"alright." Ina muttered. Pulling out her phone she used it to make a reservation at the Hotel he had mentioned. "Is he someone that is hard to deal with?" She questioned. Ina had a problem with people who tried to put themselves above her. Which was the cause of a lot of her problems. Her eyes were glued to the scene passing her by. It was always important to take in the areas around her.

" hard to deal with...." William seemed to roll the words in his mouth. turning into the parking lot under a nondescript building, he sighed. "Yah you could in a way say that. He dose not like to share, every case that crosses his desk is his and his alone. I still don't understand why the higher up have not booted him, but I can't demand anything." Getting out of the car he quickly went around to open the door for her. "I would not be surprised if we cross paths with him here, he probably already was told that I was sniffing around his case more then usual.

"I love it when idiots thing they can handle case they have no idea what is really happening." Ina muttered under her breath as she got out of the car. Pulling a rubber band off her writs she pulled her hair up into a ponytail. Following Inspector Lewis into the building she slipped her sunglasses off her face and dropped them into her purse. "Well, it will make it easier if he is here, than i won't have to go and find him later." Ina said with a smile. For whatever reason it seemed that no matter where she was the coroners offices always seemed the same.

The sounds of punk rock wafted down the hall along with the smell of disinfectant. As they tuned the corner into the main hall, a slightly over muscled man stepped out of a room. looking up he saw William and saw red, charging he growled. "how dare you, I told you to keep your mitt off this case Dick!" after hearing the melting pot of London accents his Americana accent was jarring. "you don't listen do ya, think your all smart will I will tell you." the man moved quickly and pushed William up against the wall lifting him up a few inches. grabbing the detective's hand William did something and light flashed, he dropped William. "think that's cute do ya? well just let me tell you, your not going to make it far, no sir." cradling his hand he glared at Ina and stormed off down the hall.
"that would be the guy you want to talk about the first child's death." William rubbed his throat trying to work the slight pain from it.

Ina raised an eyebrow. The man was clearly not a friendly person. Taking a deep breath she tried to find the kind person that she wasn't.
"Sergent Mathews, I would like to speak with you now, If you don't mind." Ina said firmly there was a touch of warning to her voice as she spoke. There was not only a touch of magic to her voice but also a warning growl in her tone that other supernatural creatures would hear, but for a regular human her tone just had a hint of danger to it. "I am an Detective from Interpol, and I have some questions about this case you have." There was irratation clearly written in her face she wanted nothing more than to be able to call her lieutenant and have him pull strings so that she could just have the files and complete control. Unfortunetly they were all trying to get her to 'play well with others.' Which to their dismay it was not really happening. The mans display of temper left much to desire, he had assaulted his better and that ticked her off.

Turning around Sergeant Mathews sneered at Ina. “Just like Interpol sticking their noses where they don’t belong.” Giving Inspector Lewis a look of ‘you’re going to regret this’ he sauntered back over to Ina. “How can I help you Detective…..” he let the sentence hang waiting for her to tell him her name.

Ina smiled sweetly at the Sergent as he walked back towards her. The sweet smile did little to hide the mincing presence that she was able to project while still looking very out of place in her black skirt, pink blouse, and white jacket.
"Yes well we can let people who are unwilling to have help work on cases that spread three different countries now can we." She snapped with her smile still firmly in place. "what i need from you is all the files on this case, and access to the crime scene, on top of that i need you attitude to go out the window if you want your name anywhere near this case when I close it" Ina took an step forward. Although she was shorter than both men the presence she gave off was clearly a threatening one.
"You owe Inspector Lewis here an apology as well. Your display of anger was disgusting and a waste of everyone's time. There are children getting killed and if you are going to sit around having a pissing contest I may have to mention to your superiors how you lack the ability to put personal aside and get you damn job done. Now are we going to have a problem?"

“Well now how was I to know that this spread to three other countries. Petty boy here never told me.” He sneered at Inspector Lewis. “All he said was not to let them destroy the crime scene. But who am I to stand in the way of improvements to this fair city?” trying to keep up a cool demeanor he went on. “He already has the entire file, do you want my notes as well or would that be too much for you. And why should I apologias to Inspector,” he sneered at the title. “Lewis, he is in no way MY superior.”

"Yes I want your notes from the case. Along with any ideas you may have come up with." Ina said quickly losing any appearance of kindness that was there. "You, disgrace to your office by your display do you know that? To lash out in front of a person who you have no idea where they are coming from. And here I thought that Scotland yard was supposed to be one of the best yet from what i have seen...that is not the case. I wonder what your superiors would think of your display? Especially to act out in front of an Interpol agent?" All she knew was that there was no way that she was getting paid enough to deal with all the drama between these two. "Inspector Lewis was not aware until recently. However, your unwillingness to hold off on the destruction of the crime scene leaves a lot to be desired. You have possible destroyed any chance of getting a lead on this guy. Which means the bodies of the children that will come up are on your hands because of your dumb pissing contest."

behind her Inspector Lewis tired to hide a laugh behind his hand. "Fine you can have my note's and you can have the whole damn case if that is what you want. not like I care if you take a soon to be cold case off my hands for me." reaching into his pocket he pulled out a note pad and tossed it at her. "As I said before, who am I to stand in the way of improvements to the city. And its not like mine is the only case that has the kids in it. I wash my hands of the two bodies that I have now, and dont come back with them bagging for me to take them." turning he stormed off.
"sorry about him, he seems to have set himself up as the best and feels that his superiors just dont see him as he is." Inspector Lewis stretched his neck then held open the door to the autopsy room. the music grew louder as he held the door open.

It took all of her control not to curse him or just rip the idiot apart. Hell if she were her sister the man would not be able to sleep with a woman for at least the next 5 years. "Yes, well he had better hope that he doesn't get in my way." She said shortly. It wasn't an empty threat either on her part. "Lets get this done with." Following Lewis into the autopsy room. The music was a bit loud for her tastes but so far this trip was turning out to suck.

Inspector Lewis cleared his throat loud enough that the man at the desk heard him. Turning around the young man quickly turned down the music. “Sorry Inspector did not know that you would be here so soon.” Then he noticed Ina, “sorry miss.” He turned the music off. “So you’re here about the poor kids?”
“Thank you Butters this is…” turning to Ina Lewis gave her an odd look. “You know I did not catch your name, sorry I have a bad time at remembering some times. But this is our coroner Butters.”

“Well I did the first three but the last one I was holding off on since I heard that Will here was on the case. He likes to have a look see at the bodies before I take a single cut. I don’t know how he does it but usually he knows more than I do at the end of his inspections, I guess that is why he is the Inspector and I am just the Coroner.” Handing them autopsy aprons he led them into the next room. “The first one is Sam Peters, he was found by his friend who had followed him to the construction site. The second and third are Tommy Kenneth Junior and Mac McDugal. They were found in Hyde Park by a jogger yesterday afternoon. And the last one is,” as he spoke he lead them down a line tables pointing to each child as he named them. They ended at the last table in the row. Its occupant was a young girl about seven years old her hair drawn up into pigtails. “Patty Smith. She was found on the Millennium wheel this morning, the pain in the ass that just left was going to look into the CCTV but I am guessing that it now your job?” he looked at Inspector Lewis and Ina.
“Thank you Butters, as always you have a great insight into what is going on.” William gave Butters a sad smile. “This is sad business, the death of these kids. Let us just pray that we will solve this case soon and catch the murder.”
