Well, I'm new here, so I'm trying to earn gold like everyone else. And I thought I might start with some traditional art auctions. JC and I don't have the money to get a digital thing for my hobby, so it's pens, pencils, and a scanner for me!

This auction has ended. PrincessKasumi is the winner!
I am offering a drawing of your avatar and someone else's (couples, whee!*doesn't have to be romantic, can be friends*) done in a detailed style. I am doing a long auction because I'll be gone for a few weeks mostly (especially art-wise) until December 20th and wanted to give a good time period for a lengthy auction.

I will, of course, listen to any requests that you have and try my best to draw what you'd like. The drawing will have a background, of course, but it is up to you whether it's simple or detailed with different things. The winner will have their work scanned, don't worry about that please!

Samples of what you may request:
Samples!
Er, well, I haven't done a lot of drawing lately that's "serious" or "couple" oriented, but my gallery is probably the best place to see everything I've done that I've felt is worth showing! I'd have no problem if the winner chose any style from my gallery. If I've done it once I can do it again!

My dA

Starting Bid: 5G

Winning Bid: PrincessKasumi- 600G

Auction End Date: December 20th, 11PM EST.

For the moment there won't be a contest while I do the art/chatter with Kasumi about things.

Ah, I know people have a lot of things that they might do for the holidays. I drew something for people to use if they'd like to. .///.

I do not have an AB unfortunately. Since this is my first auction, I don't know how much my art would be worth and I wouldn't want to rip anyone off.

Sweet!

A little tip for you, an event is coming soon for Winter and events are usually where many people collect in a place for activity, so it might be the best time for you to run another auction or an art shop just for the event if you're looking for interest and a little self-promotion. As for when, I can't give you an exact date, but it'll most certainly start before Christmas!

Aaaah, thank you for the tip! I'll have to do a really, really long auction (or two) because I'm going on a work assignment with little to no Internet for two to three weeks. I'd love to do auctions all the time though and I'll be back on the 20th permanently. *Loves doing holiday event things, always finds them the most memorable and exciting

You're much welcome! Sounds like you'll be back just about the right time for the event.
I do agree with the point about holiday events, I feel much the same as you so that's usually when I find myself being more active starting threads and posting around!

Out of curiosity, do you use any digital art programs to resize or edit your works?

Mmmm, holidays and birthdays are my favorite times of the year. For good friends, of course. I'll draw for a few people when I get the chance.

I use Paint to trim off the excess from the scanner, sometimes I'll use windows editor to make a picture darker if the scanner was too bright, but other than that everything is just myself and my pencils. I always wanted to get a nice tablet, but JC said it's too expensive and I have to agree. I'm okay with getting nice pencils (I go for Prisma) and just making really cool things with those. On my dA my favorite drawings are a black tailed mermaid. Prisma colors helped get her tail fin to blend so beautifully. Same with the water druid that I have as a sample for this contest. I have a bird dragon on dA that I crumpled the paper and then scanned it, and I must say, I love the effect the wrinkles have on the drawing.

*Meeps, stops rambling

That's a nice thing to do! I used to be able to do that more regularly several years back when I wasn't as busy as I am now. That feeling you get when you see them all happy and excited about it, there's no other feeling like it.

I see, I see. Wrinkles do make some nice effects, and I found them working very well especially on paints and markers. I've a friend who specializes in watercolour paints when it comes to art, so I've seen some pretty remarkable stuff I wouldn't have thought of before if I hadn't watched her do it. I've never tried prisma colours when it comes to pencils, actually. From what I've seen though, they have very rich colours and beautiful blending. Personally, I've been using those watercolour colour pencils almost my whole life and they tend to be pretty waxy or at least less chalky than other types. Perhaps I should get someone to get me a box of Prisma colour pencils....

Oh, no, keep rambling. I enjoy have conversations, especially about food and art! Exciting stuff to talk about. I asked because a few of your samples had the grayish paper hue to it and I was wondering if it was intentional (now I see that it was!).

I don't get to do it too often either, myself. I try to do something for certain friends, but I really just have three good friends. One from where I live who is unimpressed by anime/any sort of drawing related to it (*sigh), one from Canada who I draw for when I get to talk to her, one from MA who paints so much better than I could ever hope for, who thinks I am weird about not taking drawing classes, and one from OK who likes my drawings, adores them, and used to draw but doesn't anymore. ...Apart from them, I don't see myself doing many drawings for people because every time I do, they're always like "ok tnx" and forget about it.

Ah, prisma colors.. *rummages* This is from when my brother gave me prisma markers. I wanted the pencils but he got me the wrong thing. No big, I still have them, but I could do these really cool patterns with them: Prisma Markers. It's the jeans and shirt pattern I loved the most. This was done with the colored pencils, as was this one and this one. (I love mermaids, if you didn't know. x3) The box that I received as a gift was 36 pencils for 100$. @_@; Very, very, VERY expensive. I really want the 200$ box, but I have to wait for a very good sale for that. I've never worked with watercolor pencils and can't afford them at the moment. Sometimes I just pull out a box of 36 from Crayola and have at it. They get the job done.. sort of... ...Prisma is by far my favorite though for serious doodles.

Aah, yes, the paper hue. Sometimes it works out well in my favor. ...Sometimes I just don't have a scanner and I took a picture to keep what I was giving to someone else.

I admit when I mentioned drawing for people, they're usually online friends or some random user here on Mene.
I'm sorry your effort's not very appreciated by the people you know. That's actually why I prefer drawing for my online friends, because they seem a whole lot more appreciative and genuinely thankful for them.

Those are some really smooth and rich colours using the Prisma markers. I like how the colours blend for the tails in your mermaid drawings! They're really pretty that way. I know someone who's VERY into mermaids on another site. You two may get along well, unless you already know them.

Cripes! Those are really expensive! The currency exchange and import costs to my country would make that even more expensive. I'll wait for a bit more for a sale, yes. I still have a huge box of colour pencils which have already lost their boxes long ago. I wonder when I'll finish using them up. Probably never. xD

That makes sense.

Sometimes it's people online who don't really care for my drawings that I make for them. But there's not much to do about that except shrug and keep on going.

Prisma's are very good for blending I think. Especially if you do the colors and then overlay them with white, which is what I did to the water druid. Almost everything on her has a top layer of white. It's the perfect blending tool, if used correctly. I can't say I know many people who are as into mermaids as I am, but I will keep looking for others who share my odd beliefs about them. oxo

Ah, exchange rates... I thought a hundred was expensive, as does everyone else who likes my pretties and asks how much I spent. They come in a nice metal tin though, so it's harder to lose them and harder to break them. ...hasn't stopped me from losing two of them, sadly, but it made it harder! I've had them a couple years though, so I suppose that's not bad compared to what I could've lost. ;; I never end up finishing any colored pencils, for some reason. Probably because people keep giving me more. An old roommate just gave me her pencils and they've been added to my not-prisma collection.

Ok I'm not one for reading long post unless it's roleplay but but I scanned something about people not caring about your art?

Who are they! I shall smack them with a water noodle.. or chair!

Ahahaha, long posts and role play.. That's something I might have to get into around here sometime.

It's fine though, I'm quite accustomed to people not caring about any of my doodles. And once I figure out how to change the title of this post I can inform people I'm working on the winner's piece and will start the next auction for December.

You can edit the title by going into the 'Go Advanced' page for post editing.

Do you perhaps recognise someone by the name of AlkseeyaKC? HUGE fan of mermaids she is. They used to be around here but they're mainly on KofK these days.

Those pesky disappearing pencils! Not as bad as erasers, but bad enough.
I've just gotten your PM, Admiral. I'll be answering them in a bit. :D

Ooh, thank you Iroase. Yay for advanced options not making my thread a lie. :3

Ugh, disappearing erasers are the bane of my existence. Mechanical pencil erasers are great, until you run out of them because they're tiny and disappear faster than a missing no. on pokemon.

Hmm, I don't recognize that name, but I don't spent too much time online anymore. Or at least not as much as I used to. Also, what is KofK?

And take your time answering. The Niquil helped through the night, but now I'm awake and they wore off. ;_;

Here's my form. :D
If there are any itty bitty avatar details you're not sure of, let me know.

Style: 2
Details: Whatever you like would be great! I'm not very picky on backgrounds.
Avatar reference:

I keep needing to buy new erasers and rulers (rulers too, yes!) every month because of that. I don't use mechanical pencil erasers, so I don't have that particular problem, thankfully. One of the worst things to happen to an eraser is when it breaks into pieces and the small things roll all over.

KofK stands for Kingdom of Knuffel. It's another forum avatar site, but it specialises in evolution pets. I'm on there too if you want to check that place out.

Oooh Thank you so much, Admiral! That came out beautifully!!
Send me a PM or ping me when you've decided on what you want. ~_^

Is Princess nagivating KofK well? xD

Yeah, KofK does require quite a bit of your time if you want to really get into it, unless you prefer just sticking to the forums. The easiest way to earn currency there is by both posting and digging using your pets, although leveling and building up your pet collection might take some time before they really start earning.

Ahaha, I don't feel bad at all. I had a lovely time with Iroase all week and it was quite fun just posting around. I'm glad other people even noticed my thread, actually. n_n;;

Ahahaha, I know the feel. o-o I was distracted when I first joined, debating what to wear and what would go with what and how much would I need...

Thank you for your bid! *puts it up there all proudly*

Hm, if I do commissions it'd be December 20th before I could upload it properly. I don't think the supervisors where I'll be staying for three weeks want me to use their scanner to upload mermaids. ..Although maybe they would. I don't really know. I could ask. o-o Bug me again in a few days and I'll see what they say. =D Otherwise, you may have to wait till the 20th. ;;

Ooooh, you joined the Knuffels? *wants to join, does not have the time

Aw, you're welcome. I had a lot of fun with it and am very surprised at how it turned out. I don't normally draw males, but I think his body didn't come out girly. *sniff, proud moment*

*Doesn't PM, turning the art into a gift, wins!*

It's too bad I don't have the energy to do two sites at once, otherwise I'd probably join KofK as well. It seems like a very cute site! I do recall being on Kingdom Skies when it was by invite only. It was kind of... very interesting, having to apply to join a site, and then the excitement of being allowed in.

@Iroase
Yeah I'm getting the hang it, I found someone to help me and they're going to give me a knuffel! When I get enough money to get him from the adoption place that is lol.

@Admiral
I did join the kingdom! :D
And I'll be sure to ask you in a few days and I don't mind waiting if they say no either.
