Haha, Knerd, we are in the same time zone. And we don't really celebrate Father's day. In all honesty, I forgot, even after being bombarded by commercials and advertisements...

We didn't do much to celebrate, either. I bought my father some good coffee and a book he wanted, then we all went to the diner. Now that my brother and I are older, it isn't such a big deal any more. I don't completely understand people who rush out and buy dad big power tools and electronics. That kind of stuff should be saved for a birthday or Christmas/Hanukkah/etc.

Haha, I outgrew birthdays and such minor holidays since I got out of elementary school. Possibly as early as 5th grade. But christmas and New Years is amazing because of the amazing food and some presents.

That sounds like a good way to spend the day Knerd.

I usually buy my dad WW2 PC games for every single occasion. His birthday, Christmas, Father's Day... this year I bought him a polo shirt. XD

If I ever have kids I would want them to choose whether they buy me/their dad anything for Mother's and Father's Day rather than feel like they ought to.

@KatMagenta
That's pretty much how I was raised. If you want to buy a present, you can ask someone what they'd like and then spend your own money on it. If you don't want to, then they aren't going to ask for anything at all. No one will be disappointed either way.

But that makes shopping for my family incredibly hard. Half the time, I have no clue what to get anyone. So buying coffee was a bit of a cop-out on my part.

My Dad is on a vacation with my Mom, so I can't really even call and wish him happy fathers day...Reception while driving in the mountains is iffy. I gave him a super gift for Chanukah, his birthday and father's day, a Nolan Ryan signed baseball..So at least I am covered there;)

My parents would sometimes help me with the money when I was little or nudge me in the right direction but I have a friend whose parents buy presents for each other 'from' their sons. It really is the thought that counts for me.

On the other hand my mum got a charm bracelet for a special birthday so we let her know for single occasion from then on she was just going to get charms. XD

Live vicariously through your avatar!
Make her eat candy and junk food until she's bouncing off the walls and isn't allowed to go on the fast rides any more, haha.

Then sit back and rest assured that at least you're still eating healthy.

Sad? No way! That's awesome.

Tell her to make you some. And don't accept anything less than genuine "Blue" flavor.
