I'm still a bit confused about how to get these tools I get that I have to donate but how many do you need of your own kind? Do teams matter?

You need 12 of a gear/flower to get an item. And right now it doesn't matter who you donate to since it is glitched.

So basically donate 12 to anyone?

Yep, it does mean that anyone you donate to will get those items so I suppose you don't want to help the other team.
You will still get the items but you will only get your teams items and not the other teams items like you should be.

Its kinda messed up that you have to donate your own stuff to get your own weapon

Yeah, you can get one free item of your own job but then you have to pay for them which stinks.
Though at least the engineers seem to be keeping up on team Sprocket.

I don't know. There are still problems and I wish it would have started Friday but I am still very happy with the event so far.

I am very fond of the steam punk look and am happy to be getting some steam punk clothes in bright colors and silver >.<
