Story of the Team…

Twenty-eight years ago there was a team of scientists that all shared one thing, they valued science or money above morality. They scoffed at the laws that said they could not experiment on human fetuses and built a secret facility to do just that. They desired to create super humans, a new race of human beings to be sold to the highest bidder. For ten years they worked, finding they succeeded but only partially as every child was born with a physical disability. It was as if the brain simply could not process their powers and all five of their senses.

Before they could figure out how to fix this error the government discovered their terrible works and tracked them down. With their weapons and genetically altered animals it was a terrible fight but the scientists were defeated and the children rescued. The government found no proof the children were anything but normal disabled children and did what seemed the wise, humane thing. They found families to take the children and put trusts in the adoptive parents names to pay for the children’s care and school funds. It seemed a simple, happy ending for everyone…

As the children entered their teens their powers would manifest, however, and paranormal incidents seem to begin to happen all over the world. Magic that people had so successfully denied the existence of began to crop up like wild fire all around the world. Science no longer held all the answer and humanity was in danger. In desperation the government turned to these children, to investigate these incidents and protect the people. In exchange they would train them to control their powers and achieve their ultimate potential. It is time to test this extraordinary team and find out if the plan is a success or failure…

Story of the Town…

The seaside town of Jeremiah was a beautiful resort town on a massive island with a rich and long history. It was lovely and never lacking in income as even the rich and famous would head to the island to relax. The visitors loved it, the people who lived their loved it, it was the perfect island paradise. It was not immune, however, to the new incidences of the paranormal but would in fact be the focus of one of the largest event yet.

A fog would roll over the tip of the island where Jeremiah set as a jewel in its crown. At first it seemed harmless, if slightly annoying. Yet people began to disappear and strange sounds would come from the coast. Strange visions of ghost ships were occasionally seen, floating out of sight whenever they were scene. Frantic calls came over the radio begging the government to help until finally the government came to a decision. This would be the team’s first case, a testing ground so to speak… They will save the town and prove themselves, or fail.

~Information~

Things to keep in mind when working on your characters:
~Their powers would have developed anywhere between the ages of 13 and 18
~ You character can be no older than 28
~We prefer if most of the characters were younger/had less training
~There are six types of training/roles to be filled: Medical, Forensic, Survival, Combat, Investigative, and Psychological Profiling. Your character can only be trained in one of these, though all characters would have bare-basic survival, first aid and combat skills.
~Your character should only focus on one type or specific weapon unless their role is combat specialist.
~They do have armor, but it would be nothing more than a special under shirt, pants and a vest or jacket made with advanced fabrics and sleek, discreet plating. Bracers/gloves are optional and again, would look like normal accessories. Outwardly, you would not be able to tell that their clothing is body armor, they would appear to be in street clothes.

~The Team~

Name: Kolja Fonseca
Age: 26
Sex/Gender: Male
Appearance: Kol stands at just under six feet and has a lean but muscular build. His skin is a warm olive and his long, curly hair a chestnut brown that tell of his Portuguese and Spanish ancestry. His eyes are a chartreuse green and odd in the fact that he lacks pupils and the sclera (whites) of his eyes are tinted the same yellow-green color. His clothing generally consists of the special under-armor, tough khaki cargo pants, black leather boots and either a vest or long jacket depending on the weather.
Power(s) : The ability to “see” and manipulate the electromagnetic fields that flow around and through everything. This allows him to know where everything within half a mile around him is, including spirits. This "vision" is not obstructed by anything but large amounts of iron and plastic can distort it. He can only manipulate fields within twenty feet of his person.

Appearance: Louie's 5’8” build is androgynous and petite, leaning on the feminine side with narrow shoulders, a slim waist and round hips. His skin is fair and delicate looking and his wide eyes are a misty grey with the slightest hints of spring green. His hair is hip-length, ebony in color and held back nearly all the time due to necessity, though he much prefers it down. His clothing is elegant, but simple and functional: Durable but pliant pants, an under-armor shirt of a cool color, a slim-fitting vest and knee-high leather boots. He also has a long duster jacket.

Power(s) : Accelerated healing- Enhanced cell regeneration allows him to heal from most things in a matter of hours provided everything is in the correct place and nothing obstructs the wounds. He also fights off illness, infections and toxins faster and more efficiently. He does still scar, but the scars fade faster than most people’s as well.

Her footwear varies, but usually she wears sturdy ankle boots just in case trouble comes around. A headband keeps Karlin's hair from obscuring her view. Occasionally she might done a cotton jacket or a coat.

Appearance:z the eyepatch she wears is to cover the fact that she is blind in that eye. Instead of her eye being normal looking, it's pure white. Sometimes it appears silver. It's been like that ever since birth.
Power(s): She uses her bones. She can heal any cracks or breaks in her own body in a short amount of time. She can even make her bones protrude from her body like spikes. The longer the spikes, the more pain she's in.

Power(s) : Hyper Focus- that is the ability to turn off one or more senses and focus that mental power into another process attached to the brain. Through this she loses the sense(s) temporarily but what she chooses to augment becomes superhuman in its power and ability. She can only augment one ability at a time, whether it is physical or mental. It also takes sacrificing more to augment physical abilities. For example she can augment her production of adrenaline to strengthen a particular physical ability such as speed to a super human level or augment her eyes to see other forms of light/existence.

*most of those years, however, were spent in science and forensics so were almost all in a school like setting with her nose stuck in a book. Her actually military training is closer to 2-3 years

Just anything too godlike/that you can't argue is a super exaggerated/super improved/whatever of the human body XD. I.e. if you can convince me that it's simply taking a natural function of the human brain/body and making a super power version of that function then it's a go. If you can't its no. I'm going to be pretty loose though xD. Unless it's really out there, like you can turn objects into gold or turn into thirty foot dragons or something I'll probably say yes

Mine- She can strengthen one sense by taking the brain power/energy from one to add it to another. Strengthening said sense to the point it becomes supernaturally strong in one way. (i.e. become deaf to have super strong eyes so strong they can see through walls OR see ghosts or whatever. She can't do two things with it though, it always focuses which ever sense is augmented in one super skill). She'll have a way to use it aggressively but I think i'm changing it to something other then it was but not sure what.
Kage-Sense and manipulate the natural electrical impulses in human beings.
Cameo-Move her body heat out of her body to the point sometimes with enough to create fire, can not replace it as fast as she moves it out so is pretty dangerous of freezing to death, especially since she has no sense of feeling/touch so doesn't know if she's hot or cold. Also sense the body heat of other living things like those heat scanner things.

hehe. xD any ideas? Since you two have to do with energy outputs and I dont want to steal your thunder so to speak I'm debating going the other thing i was thinking XD. Which is basically she can put her lost sense(s) into adrenaline to augment some physical skill to the point of supernatural ability. Speed/strength/agility/whatever to achieve super (whichever she chose).

I'll need a power for my character... o3o maybe something to do with blood or light...

@pandora: I figure the genetic altering could give them any color of eye/hair so people can have whatever they want taht way xD

@Cameo: He could always be the normal human, a tough warrior type with guns and gadgets instead of a power xD

Lol yup XD. I figure they were sent to normal families when they were toddlers who seemed to be disabled with no powers .. and then in their teenage years when their bodies were doing the most changing it triggered the abilities in earnest they were sent back to train with the government somehow xD. Maybe the families were told to tell the government if something happened.

Okay, brainstorming on the internet so Niisan stops giving me that confused look as I talk things out... He did help me expand a little, though. AH, the pressure! Bear with me, as my brainstorming may seem confusing. Any feedback would just be lovely, I'm having a hard time figuring out what sort of ability(ies) to have.

I do want the side effect of my character, while she is using her ability, to be that of an extreme distortion. While she's using the ability, her senses of hearing and vision become unusable. Her vision becomes overly blurry and dizzying, perhaps it becomes a dense, terrifying sight in the presence of strong, dark energies. Her ears ring loudly and she cannot hear. So, essentially she's giving up 2 senses, but only while using her power.

I am trying to figure out a way to sense an entire area? Or perhaps communicate with spirits--not by hearing of course, but on a more sensory level... I'm not certain, I'm still ironing it out.

Nope, he's blind, but can "see" his surroundings, though the electromagnetic vibrations that everything living and non gives off. He can also slightly manipulate the energy fields to throw off electronics and perhaps send a pulse of electricity into someone/something.

Pandora: Well since they are limited to powers based of something the human body/mind can already do, I was thinking something along the lines of her being able to control her heart rate, blood pressure and temperature. For example, if she has a wound, she can stop the blood from flowing to the broken vessels so she doesn't bleed out, she could lower/heighten her pulse, thus her body temperature to appear adapt to heat and cold better or even appear dead. Along with this, she could sense heart rate changes in others, but would not be able to manipulate their blood.

Staria: Hm, alright, so I assume they also have physical training, ne?

Oh, also, perhaps the government started monitoring the households after the children hit puberty, waiting for them to discuss any abnormalities with friends or family members. Parents might panic at the thought of their children being taken because of an additional disability or fear that the government would think the abnormalities were a result of abuse.
