"Lissa, I told you no," Melissa's mother said as she handed a bucket of soapy water to her.
With an unhappy frown, Melissa grabbed onto the bucket's handles and sighed, completely bummed out. "I'm eighteen now, you know. You gotta let me live up to that age sooner or later," Melissa said as she walked to the end of the hall, feeling the morning sun on her back. She sat the bucket down and dipped her hand into the water, feeling for the rag. When she found it, she pulled it out, putting it to the tile and began scrubbing.
For a moment, she felt like Cinderella. The slave-version.
