BellyButton, that looks like a fun craft, and fairly simple too.
I think I will have to snag that for my knitting/croshet pinboard. :D

It does look cute. Unfortunately, while I can knit, I can't seem to get a hang of crocheting.

I seem to be the opposite. My knitting skills are bad.. real bad.

lol, my folks laugh at me sometimes. usually, I'm watching tv while I'm knitting. During Halloween, I was watching tv, knitting, and taking care of trick or treaters. All without missing a beat. My dad was like, "How are you able to keep up with that?"

I laughed and told him that I had no idea, lol.

I can relate to that. I made 12 crocheted flowers last night while watching Dr. Who. Even though some counting is required, you kind of just get into the motion of it and don't need to pay much attention to what you're doing.

I think I'm getting close to being ready to assemble this thing. Just chose primary colors + an off-white for the flowers and alternated the combinations (one color for the middle, one for the petals). My choice in greens is either a really pale yellowish green, or a dark green. I think I'll use the lighter one. Not sure if 12 flowers will be enough, hmm.. Will try to take some progress pictures later today. :)

Haha, I also do crafts while watching TV. That is the only way I would ever make it through 100 paper cranes. I've gotten to the point where I can make them without really thinking about it.

I finally counted all my cranes yesterday, and I've got 570 so far. Still a long way to go, but I'm getting there! (I've been working on these guys slowly for years.)

wow! 570! I think I tried making a crane years ago, but it did not turn out pretty at all, lol

I'm making my cranes out of fairly small paper, so when they're all folded up, it doesn't matter so much if they are a little fugly. :3

I did some impromptu crafting today. I'm taking care of my friend's kitten for a few days, but my house wasn't really cat-ready, so the cute little fuzz ball was starting to drive me nuts. So this morning I whipped up some quick toys to keep her entertained.

I made her a fake feather wand toy based on this tutorial from ol' Martha: Feather Cat Toy

Mine is not as fancy as Martha's of course, but it will just get torn up eventually anyway. Plus it was really quick to make.

It is also kitten approved:

:3

(P.S. Does this count as double-posting?)

That's so cute! I might try that. :)

Don't worry about accidentally double posting, the forum will automerge posts for us if they're too close together (I think it's 4 hours).

.. I need to get back on my project. I got sidetracked and then had to travel over mother's day & am still playing catch up here at home. Just need to crochet the viney bits and leaves now, got all the flowers done.

That is good to know about posts merging together automatically.

Its a super effective kitten toy, and pretty versatile. I was looking through pinterest and there were lots of varieties of DIY cat wands. I ran that poor kitten ragged with it this morning, and she has spent most of the day sleeping since then. ^__^

That flower garland project looks so cute. Can't wait to see pictures of how it turns out. :)

I watched the vid on Martha's site and found myself cracking up. She often seems so serious to the point of being stern, but her mention of her 5 Himalayan cats loving to play and that she has hung little dangly bell leaf toys on her doorknobs and drawer handles throughout her house amused the hell out of me.

Haha, that is funny. I didn't realize there was a video to go along with it. Martha is a funny lady.

Okay, I'm jumping projects real quick-like. When I was visiting my grandmas over mother's day I noticed a need for reusable produce/grocery bags, and figure that I could come up with something that would make a nice gift.

I'm trying this pattern for the body of it: Oh the Cuteness!: Crocheted Produce Bag

Which makes very simple net/mesh bag ~

Only I'm going to make a more reinforced bottom and probably a band at the top so I can attach some crocheted flowers (I made some forget-me-nots for them already).

Oh, that bag is real cute! For some reason, it reminds me of the macrame stuff my mom used to make in the 70's. Like plant hangers and stuff.

Anyway, I am definitely adding that to my crochet pin board. It's a perfect project for some of the spare yarn I have.

Edit: I went ahead and made one! I had some false starts with figuring out the directions, but I put on Arrested Development while I worked and it went really fast once I got the hang of it. I'll see about posting some pictures soon.

I made something cute today! A little crocheted stuffed owl using odds and ends. I'll try to snap a pic soon.

Nearly finished the bag too, just needs a band on the top now. I wound up using rainbow colored variegated yarn for it and it came out really wild & colorful. I'll finish it soon, but I'm kind of obsessed with making more owls right now.

Here's the first & simplest of the owls I made - they're about card deck size:

I'm trying to just use whatever yarn and material scraps I've got lying around so they're each different. Waiting on emails from my phone for the other pics, sometimes I just don't get them.

---------- Post added 06-27-2013 at 10:15 AM ----------

Here's another one! This one looks crazy with those eyes. ;D

Finished two more last night ~

Going to try to mass produce them for kid gifts until I burn out, now. They're so fun & (relatively) quick to make. :3

Those are so cute BellyButton! Did you follow a pattern or make it up yourself? I have some yarn scraps that are just dying to become little owls.

I haven't been crafting much at all lately, since I was busy with graduation, and now I am busy with moving. I can't wait to be all settled into my new place so that I can finally relax for reals and get some crafting done!

BellyButton: Those are soo cute! I'm curious about how to make them too. :P

Chexala: I totally understand what you are going through. I'm having issues getting stuff done. Just can't seem to get focused enough to work on them. Though I did manage to finish (finally!) the rabbit that has been sitting around. The only thing that I had to do on it was put the features on it (eyes, nose, and bowtie)

I didn't use a pattern, but there are several floating around the internet that should make something very similar. I got the idea from an etsy listing (here) eyeballed & modified it a bit (added little wings).

I'm excited! I was on a waiting list to help with this nifty ground cover project and I just got an email last night asking if I was still available. So it looks like I get to make a blanket now!

That Ground Cover project is cool. Nice to put your crafting skills towards a good project like that.
