This is a rp between myself and thusly.

-----------------------------------------------------

Vale looked out the view port that was on the wall beside his bed, outside was the vast view of the space ship travailing threw the stars. It had been over 400 years since humans had broken the boundaries of their own solar system about 50 before that the humans had their first encounter with a alien species. Ambassadors from the alien race had come to welcome the humans into the Galactic Fold.

The Galactic Fold might sound like a religious group to some but it was the best translation that fit the humans language. The Ambassador's race and many others had watched for years to see how far Humanity had come off of their dirt speck in space. For generations now humans like Vale O'Connor had been born either on space ships or on colonies on new worlds. Vale had been born on New Eden to his parents who studied the genetics of endanger species of animals on earth.

His colony had been made to rebuild the population of animals from earth, animal activists, enthusiasts and people who preferred the company of animals to humans all flocked to the rosters to try and get a spot in the 100 humans chosen for the New Eden. Vale was a descendant of one of those first 100, they obviously had to bring in more kinds of people so interbreeding didn't even have a chance to happen.

While he had grown up loving animals, Vale also grew up more interested in the machines that kept the colony running on it's own steam as it were, how things worked together to make a door slide open for some people and not others, to how the bio-domes that housed the animals could hold many different environments from a single control room. What had really always sparked his interest for hours where engines, power sources for ships, his families unit and even his own small power board.

It had been years since he had seen his parents in person as he had been stationed on this new explore ship straight out of his engineering school. It looked like he was following in his ancestors footsteps as this ship was heading to another world to colonize, this time for a more general populous. The planet had been off limits for years to many species seeing as it wasn't in the best of conditions, and the ruins that where apparently on it where from a race that far predated the Galactic Fold. The Governors of the Fold, a council like group that ran the Fold and had at least one member form every species in the Fold on it, had given the rights to the planet to the humans as it's conditions patched a older earth, oxygen was one of the atmospheres main compounds and it's gravity was measured to be closer to earths then some others.

So with that they wouldn't have to set up bio-domes hopefully. Vale was brought out of his thoughts by a knock to his room door, followed by the automatic door sliding open with a prim swish. "O'Connor You got a Vid from your folks, you might want to take it now in the comm room before Jenkins get's the notice about his wife's latest doctors appointment." The voice was female and belonged to a very attractive flight officer, who was also friends with the young engineer.

"Mia have I ever told you how pretty you look when giving me the heads up on Vid times?" His voice was both joking and serious. Mia Strandoff knew how important his family was to him. The last time he had seen then had been at his graduation before he'd gotten his shipping orders. Getting up and giving a brief hug to Mia he grabbed his time card and walked as quickly as he could through the halls till he got to the public comm room.

A grin was on Vale's face when he finished the Vid-Call with his parents, his younger sister was getting married, or at least was now engaged, it had thrilled his mom, and as expected his dad as trying to find fault in the man who managed to get his little sister Brooke to settle down.

The crimson haired engineer was headed down to the deck he worked on, it was just about time for his shift to start. Maintaining the engines and making sure the ships state of the art tech was all running the way it was supposed to. His team of engineers where also being briefed on what they where to do if they found any tech on the planet.

Vale waved to two of his team mates before he joined then in the locker room to get changed into their work suites. These things where specialty made to fit single person, so you couldn't use another person's suite to improve your own work scores. It had happened in the past so the many companies funding this voyage and the military where trying to cut down on things like that.

"Sup Vale? How's that sweet sister of yours?" The male on his left, Hogan Higgins, asked and Vale sent them a playful glare.

"Settling down with Marco on NE. Figured Brooke woudl stay planet side, with how much she's gotten to learn about the Vet practice back home and all." Vale said hearing his team mate groan and sight in defeat. Hogan Higgins had met his family before and had a little crush on Vale's sister, well that was now not gonna go anywhere.

"Alright ladies cut the chatter!" Their lead engineer said making the room quite for the man to speak his piece.

Time on the ship passed quickly once the routine of work and training started. It had been two weeks since the ship had set off from the Central station. Now the planet was in view from the ships observing deck and many of the crew where lookign at the blue and green planet that seamed to have blueish clouds rolling around it.

First thing they did was send down some remote control probes to get a feel of the planet without endangering the crew. Vale's team was going to go down there in the first 'wave' following a few archaeologists and scientists and geologist and others that he couldn't quite name. His team was to help set up the generators for power. And to make sure that all the tech woudl run smoothly, also to handle anything that could possible be tech.

Before they went down to the planet they had to get a through scrub down in the showers and then get into their more protective suites, with breathing helmets and all that, to be on the safe side, even though the probes where coming back with readings of the air being breathable, with a faint hint of something similar to mint in the air. The teams where going to land in a small valley outside one of the confirmed ruins.

Vale couldn't wait to see just what this old ball in space had hidden under it's belt.
