The World Map

In the interest of a cohesive world narrative and making writing an origins story easier on everyone, I have included a brief description of the places marked on the world map. They follow, broken down by territory.

Phyrien
Capital of the Empire and its oldest city. A huge bustling city stretching out for miles beyond the palace of the Emperor. The land's cultural and political centre, it houses many historical buildings and relics and is most famous for its unique architecture and advancements in cosmetology. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Wasenheim
The second oldest city in the kingdom and home to both the kingdom's main trading port and iron mines, it is primarily engaged in the production and trade of weapons and armour. The greatest smiths and engineers live here, and it is a popular travel destination among both warriors and merchants. (Demographic: Primarily Chuu)

Orcan
A small village along the road from Wasemheim to Phyrien, its inhabitants mine sandstone and silver ore from nearby quarries and ferment the juice of a local fruit into a particularly potent spirit known as Ilka. It is said to have been invented to keep travellers at the local inn for extra nights. (Demographic: Snuffle and Chuu)

Talenstadt
Primary vassal and suburb of Phyrien, it is called the Shield of the Emperor because all roads to Phyrien must pass through Talenstadt. While very well-defended, this wealthy and beautiful city's greatest claim to fame is its music scene, boasting the Kingdom's most respected conservatories and orchestras. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Kershul
Once a humble farming village on the outskirts of Talenstadt, Kershul has flourished and expanded over time thanks to its cuisine. People from all over the Empire travel here to study at its elite culinary institutes and sample the best food available in the world of Fable. Its people still herd goats in the nearby mountains, and mutton is a primary feature of the local delights. (Demographic: Primarily Snuffle)

Fort Kershul
The Empire's eastern gate and the site of many a great battle during the war, this historical landmark still keeps silent watch over the eastern roads. Today, people flock to the war's memorial grounds here annually to honour the fallen and remember the terrible price paid for their new-found peace. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Arak
Home to the ferry service to Nimsan and Lucelia, this western town boasts some of the Empire's best weather. All the travel has made Arak a news hub, and while the retail sector profits from the heavy traffic, the real business lies in the trading of information. Cultural exchange with Nimsan has also led to heightened interest in the arts, and painting is a thriving enterprise. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Isa
A beautiful beach resort just a day's journey away from Arak, the entire stretch of beach and all the buildings around it have belonged to a single family for generations. This has left the place serene and well-maintained, making it a popular getaway. The head of the family, a renowned sommelier, also owns an exquisitely stocked wine cellar and occasionally holds well-attended auctions for some rare vintages. (Demographic: Primarily Chuu)

Locale Information
~ Ephraim ~

Fayriand
Ephraim's ancestral home. Although but a pale shadow of its former splendour, it is a prosperous city and the Empire's most popular tourist destination due to its temperate climate and beautiful landscape. Home to the most species of flowers in the land of Fable, its primary exports are perfume and honey. (Demographic: Primarily Chuu)

Fort Lychel
Formerly little more than an inn and a provisions shop for the passing wayfarer, the ongoing restoration of the old fortifications has led to some workers temporarily moving in and brought some new life to the quiet village. (Demographic: Primarily Chuu)

Eledia
The Jewellery Capital of the Empire, its people mine gemstones from the mountains around their city and are the most skilled jewellers in all of Fable. It is said some Eledian artisans practise a forgotten craft, so their artwork does more than merely glitter on your person. (Demographic: Minx and Chuu)

Quindale
The largest expanse of grassland in the realm of Fable, it is home to a group of nomadic farmers and shepherds. They are the Empire's primary source of vegetables and wool, tending crops and sheep as they traverse the plains and bringing the fruits of their labour to Nannair for storage and distribution. (Demographic: Snuffle and Chuu)

Nannair
Cousins of the nomads in Quindale who chose to settle, the people of Nannair have learned to spin wool into an unbelievably light and warm fabric. They also make a variety of dairy products and pickles from the produce brought to them by their cousins and rear mountain horses in the highlands around their town. (Demographic: Chuu and Snuffle)

King's Cove
A bustling port town with a dock well-sheltered from the winds, King's Cove is a haven for both merchants and sailors. Unfortunately, in recent years, security enforcement has waned, and it has become a pretty dangerous place. The seedier parts of town are home to many gambling dens and a host of other vices. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Genhai
Home to the largest number of wineries in the Empire, this coastal town is blessed with the perfect climate and soil for planting grapes. They are best known for Brezin, a wine spiced with a particular aquatic fruit native to their shores that gives it its honey-like flavour and its aphrodisiac and fertility benefits. (Demographic: Chuu and Minx)

Xeol
A mysterious and reclusive village bordering the Forbidden Forest, these hunters and herb-gatherers alone know what lies within its depths. However, they will not speak of it and do not welcome outsiders. They are also excellent shamans, but their services are notoriously difficult to procure. (Demographic: Minx and Snuffle)

Locale Information
~ Kafka ~

Valnarya
Kafka's base of operations and the largest city in the Empire. Constructed both into and out of the forest through a combination of magic and science that allows them to build into living trees, scholars flock to the City of Learning to be at the forefront of intellectual progress. It is also home to a massive plantation in which silk worms are reared to produce its primary export. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Nimsan
The fashion centre of the Empire and home to some of Fable's most talented weavers, tailors and designers, silk is sent here from Valnarya to be spun into beautiful fabric and combined with imported wool, cotton, rayon and leather into the pinnacle of haute couture. Using clay imported from the Fishers, potters here shape and paint beautiful ceramic pieces to grace the discerning decorator's home. (Demographic: Minx and Chuu)

Myudai
A mid-sized village lush with fruit orchards, its people produce a myriad of fruit-based products, of which the peach and yuzu preserve is the most prized. They also serve a sweet porridge-like dish known as Nidleh as a local delicacy, the ingredients of which are unique to the area and a closely guarded secret. (Demographic: Primarily Minx)

Rykel
Home to the world's most skilled carpenters and woodcarvers, the main industry of Rykel is that of paper and furniture. Timber is brought in from Inago to be processed here before being exported. Their primary food source is wild hare, which they hunt to keep the rabbit population from outnumbering the people. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Mahkel
The people of Mahkel harvest rock salt from the surrounding mountains and terrace the lower mountainside to plant hectares and hectares of tea in the naturally ideal climate. A particularly smooth and fragrant green tea aptly known as Jade Silk is especially sought after. (Demographic: Primarily Minx)

Inago
Almost all wood in the Empire comes from Inago, and this simple village even has its own dock exclusively for the transport of timber. The rocky and choppy seas in the area make water navigation challenging, however, and the pilots who steer their ships along this treacherous route are well-respected among their fellow sailors. Its apothecaries also gather rare herbs from the surrounding forest to create medicines found nowhere else. (Demographic: Minx and Snuffle)

Heilan
The smaller of two cities on the Isle of Liquid Gold, Heilan harvests sea salt from its especially clean shores and presses oil from the native palm trees. While a fairly wealthy and well-developed place, it is notoriously boring, and people often travel to nearby Ultessa for a diversion. (Demographic: Primarily Chuu)

Ultessa
Only half a day's ride from Heilan if you hurry, the desert city of Ultessa is home to the best dancers in the Empire. Perhaps their best known export is Mirtzo, a heavily spiced and particularly pungent sausage made from the meat of a native desert animal. They also produce dates and olives. (Demographic: Minx and Snuffle)

Locale Information
~ Morelyn ~

Thalgard
Morelyn's residence and a large trading hub, the port of Thalgard is the busiest in the Empire. Built on the wealth of its gold mines, it is a well-developed city best known for its people's equestrianism. Originally bred to transport grain swiftly across the land, Thalgardian horses are renowned the world over for their speed, and horse-racing is the city's favourite pastime. (Demographic: Almost equal)

Arupa, Brilza & Cirqa
Together, these three villages make up the grain basket of the Empire. This tight-knit and resourceful community of farmers grow primarily rice, wheat and barley, and have learned to use every part of their crop. They export whole grains, flour, bread, grain-based spirits and a host of other goods made from grain by-products, ranging from cosmetics to animal fodder. (Demographic: Primarily Snuffle)

Otoshima
A first impression of this highland village upon arrival is that there are more cows than people. This is not erroneous, and it is clear from the many creameries, butchers and leather and cheese artisans that cow herding is central to their way of life. Their leather and dairy products are exported the world over and famed for their high quality, the secret to which they say is to treat the cows better than their herders. To supplement their diet, they also grow potatoes. (Demographic: Primarily Snuffle)

Pruelia
From the fine sand around the town, the master craftsmen of Pruelia create stunning glass artworks using a variety of methods that are highly valued as decorative pieces and jewellery. What little grassland they have is planted with oats, most of which is sold to Thalgard as premium horse feed. (Demographic: Minx and Chuu)

Gongmil
Once a modest inland village, Gongmil rapidly developed into an industrial heavyweight due to the growth of the cotton industry. Here, the hectares of cotton plantations are tended and harvested before being processed into everything from textiles to fishing nets and exported. Its other main commercial activity is the brewing of beer from the many varieties of grain produced by its neighbours. A beer connoisseur's paradise, there are almost as many breweries here as there are cotton plantations. (Demographic: Chuu and Snuffle)

Jurgand
A somewhat isolated village in the area's dense bamboo and rattan forests, the people of Jurgand are fierce tribal warriors who have very limited contact with the outside world. Specialized traders come to them on foot to procure rayon, baskets, furniture, resins and other products from the surrounding forest, of which bamboo charcoal is perhaps the most prized. (Demographic: Minx and Snuffle)

Lucelia
Home to many a bard and poet, sweet Lucelia lives up to its name quite literally: the native plant here is sugarcane. Once found growing wild in the surrounding grassland, it is now widely cultivated with unparalleled zeal. The resulting sugar and its by-products are among the world's most traded commodities. The locals drink rum distilled from the sugarcane plants and often flavour it with fruits imported from nearby Myudai. (Demographic: Minx and Chuu)

Locale Information
~ Fishers ~

The Fishers live in many, many villages scattered across the chain of islands they inhabit and are the world's primary supplier of seafood. Most also practice some quantity of subsistence farming to supplement their food source, but a few larger villages have also begun to trade their surpluses. The Fishers are a superstitious people with exotic customs and stringent trade laws, and consist equally of all three races.

Artan
One of four major fishing villages in the area and perhaps the most diverse, they also grow coffee plants in the nearby mountains and export the roasted beans.

Darlyans
The main point of contact between the Fishers and the rest of the world, this large marketplace is the closest thing they have to a town. Its inhabitants mine copper from the nearby mountains and work to facilitate trade. As a result of a popular local custom of dyeing the skin and hair, a great many dyes were invented in Darlyans, and now they are the world's foremost manufacturer of inks and paints.

Seinju
The native plant here is the cacao tree, which is now cultivated due to immense external demand. A local delicacy here is Yuela, fish marinated in powdered cocoa beans and a mixture of other spices before being salted and dried, said to give people strong hearts.

Xilin
The people here pick wild mushrooms across the island as they gather shellfish in the shallows. While the mushrooms are zealously sought after by gourmands, Xilin's true claim to fame is in the far less innocuous art of poison, developed by the locals from and to use against the many venomous creatures native to the land.

Mirna
While no less a fishing village than any of its neighbours, Mirna's primary export is fine clay from its muddy shores. In recent years, the people have also discovered that their traditional pastime of pearl diving is proving more lucrative than even the most productive of clay pits.
