It's now official! There is a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 coming out that will be followed by a 5th! Here lies all the information currently available on this movie, and media such as posters, interviews, and trailers are updated almost as soon as they become available. Enjoy!

Summary:

Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) crosses paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love -- or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. No way they are making another one!! Super excited! But I also am iffy about it, I really dont want it to be a sell out, and I think they should stop after the third one, leave it out on a high note.

Seriously. I'm not sure where that rumor came from but it's all over the web. I hope they don't and it's just fan girl propaganda.

I don't know that I mind that Will and Elizabeth are done in the movies. I'm ready to hear some more about Captain Jack Sparrow, personally. He's always been my favorite, and I quote: "MY PEANUT!"

Well, at least Will and Liz aren't coming back.
But I'm not really that excited. I feel like PotC sort of wore out its welcome with the incredibly long and muddled sequels.

honestly, after the 3rd one i'm not sure. I loved 1 and 2, but 3 wasn't as good. So not sure how i feel about a 4th. As long as it's a good story line though, i won't complain.

I loved the first Pirates movie! The second movie was meh. And the last one really disappointed me. I read an article earlier that essentially said "Johnny Depp knows the last two Pirates movies sucked and doesn't really want to do a fourth." And if Johnny Depp isn't in it, I probably won't bother with the movie at all.

I only liked the first one, and even that one wasn't as good after watching it a few times. : /

Johnny Depp already signed on for the fourth one but he's iffy on it now because the last Disney Chairman (who was with him, and supporting him, for the first three movies) recently resigned for some reason or another. I'm not entirely sure why he resigned.

I heard the movie was going to be based off of a book by the same name.

Though I've recently heard that he's not gonna be doing it. The guy who talked him into doing the others isn't doing this one, I think Disney fired him, and so Johnny doesn't want to do it if the guy who said it was a good idea wasn't gonna be working on it as well.

And with that said, and assuming it is true, I won't watch it at all. No matter who is in it.

I saw this article too. I think that it will all blow over eventually but I also agree with you, I'm positively less likely to see the movie if Johnny isn't in it. I still look forward to hearing more news on it because I highly doubt that Johnny would ever fully drop a chance to play Sparrow again.

Yeah, I think I'd rather it be a prequel. I would have much more interest in it than another sequel XD

Ooooh, another POTC movie? Yes please! I love the POTC series and was sad when the 3rd one was going to be the last. But I can't wait to see this one when it comes out. >w<

I hope it's good (Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite series, after then New Batman Series and Star Wars). If it's based off the book, then it's going to be a sequel, because that book's about the Fountain of Youth (or at least it's mentioned in it), and at the end of Pirates III *SPOILER WARNING* Jack has the center of the map. I'm hoping for some more Jack on Barbossa action (with maybe a guest appearance by *SPOILER WARNING* Will as the new captain of the Flying Dutchman).

I wonder, how many people pronounce it Care-a-be-in, and how many pronounce it Car-ib-e-an, and which one is the "proper" way to do it?

(note, even though I'm sure anyone in this chat has seen all they way through the series, I still post Spoiler Warnings whenever I give something away. It's a habit, and I doubt I'll change it)

I'm willing to give it a chance. If its like the third one I'll like it. Heck the third one was probably my favorite one.
However if it follows the plot that the third one left off at, the fountain of youth, I will be both pleased and upset. I adore the legend of the Fountain of Youth but I think it would of been better if they had just scrapped the whole Davy Jones thing and gone strait to that. It makes for a great adventure film.
So at this point I'm just waiting. I'll see when it comes out. Heck I'll probably like it. I do love pirates after all.

@xAcidxRainx: Hmm...Yeah. I'm waiting to see who exactly the villain is going to be now that they've chopped Davy Jones. I've got rightful suspicions that it may be Blackbeard. I guess that only time can tell.

@Darkestofsouls: Ya know, it depends on the day for me whether I pronounce it either of those ways. I never really thought about it though I do believe that I have heard Care-a-be-an more than I have heard Care-i-be-an. Hmph. Never would've thought of that.

I would personally love more Pirates movies, but only if they make them just as awesome as the previous ones. I'd be interested in a prequel, but I really want to know about Will and Elizabeth's child. To be honest though, if Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is in it, I'll see it, no matter how badly they kill it. xD

This is the first I have heard of the film and I am looking forward to it, I am a big Johnny Depp fan, thank goodness for his ever busy schedule.
I have seen all of the previous ones and thought that they were fantastic so I am praying that it won't be a sellout, though at the minute I am a little lost on what more they can do to the plot, I mean the have allready saved good old Captain Jack though if the plot can be anything as good as the others then it will be fine.
I am silghtly put off by the sound of Zac Effron being in the film, he annoys me big time, I don't think he is a good actor and don't really think that he would be a good addition to the cast because I don't really see what he could add to the Black Pearl.
My favourite character is Jack Sparrow, I really do think that Johnny Depp plays the part really well, he also gets some class lines, so much so that I find it nye on impossible to choose a favourite line.
My favourite scene would have to be the fight scenes in the second movie, I love them because the theme tune gets played plus, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom sword fighting makes for some mighty fine veiwing pleasure, right?

I am about 99.9% sure that there will be another movie. Johnny isn't that PO'ed at Disney because the chairman left, he's just put off. He'll be back. He likes being Captain Jack Sparrow too much and he knows it. Also, if I know anything about Disney, they want to sell out on this sucker pretty badly.

Trust me. There will be another one.

@ElysiumFate- Ohhhhhhhhhhh Blackbeard would be neat. A villian tottaly slipped my mind when I was thinking about this before. (Thats what I get for being sleepy~) Hopfully they have a villian like that and don't just use the scraps of people from England.

the first was the best, the second was ok, and the third was too drawn out. i dont think a fourth will do so well. and if the rumors are true and zac efron somehow managed to get himself some sort of role in it, or johnny depp won't be doing it, i will not be watching it. ever.

I hope the plot is plausible. And not just Jack Sparrow driven for the heck of it.

I think all three movies turned out rather well, they are indeed watchable till the end. And I am surprised that they all kept such high energy. Few Trilogies can do that.
