"Well that's not even up for debate isn't it, but who knows I could be the token queer and the token weirdo in a group, but no I end up befriending people that make me look normal." he responded, unruffled.

"That's a harsh and very amusing thing to say. My friends make me look normal too," Koda said with a grin and a shrug.

"We must be a pair then. Perhaps we both need new circle of friends," Declan couldn't fully keep the serious tone out of his voice, even if it only leaked in a little. He didn't know Koda's friends but he'd be willing to bet they were responsible for at least half of all the trouble Koda had gotten into.

Koda pursed his lips. Was Declan being serious or not? Though he couldn't really blame the guy if he was. "Yeah? How do you propose finding a new circle of friends? Advertise on the internet?" He let out a little chuckle. "Lame idea."

"I don't imagine that working to well." Declan laughed, "And I honestly wouldn't know. I've been described as one of those guys who knows everybody but befriends few." he shrugged. He liked it that way. Why have a bunch of usual friends when you could have a few good friends and a bunch of acquaintances

"Hm," Koda hummed. "And I'm the guy with a bunch of useless friends. Do they even count as friends? I mean, I've known these people forever, but we're all kinda jerks to one another."

"Well would you trust any of them to really have your back if it got rough? Not like in a fight, but if something in your life went wrong. Could you trust any of them?" Declan asked.

Koda paused, slowly folding his arms across his chest. He had to really think about that one. In a fight, he knew they had his back. They'd helped him out in a tough spot and he'd helped them. But if it was something serious or it made Koda different from them, would the same rules apply. Finally he spoke. "I don't know. I can't really say since it's never happened before. But the fact I don't know if I can trust them or not says something huh?"

"It does, but it could also just say your in high school, which is a shit hole to begin with and really who knows who they can trust in high school." He shrugged, trying to lighten the mood a little bit.

Koda laughed a little. "High school really is a hell hole. There's a reason I don't go to class!"

"I tend to think the students are what make it the hell hole not the teachers or the classes." The corner of Declan's mouth quirked up slightly as he said this.

Koda shrugged. "It depends on your perspective, I think. The teachers aren't really all that great. Half of them don't actually care."

"Hm. Yes perspective depending on what side of the coin you are on." Declan smirked, "But I will admit some teachers are as involved as they should be.

"How about I go to class and record who I think is a good and bad teacher. We'll see if the teachers are as good as I think they're cracked up to be. "

"That is something that we can call illegal and I cannot possibly allow."

Koda scratched his head. "what did I say that was illegal? I'm confused...."

"The whole recording teachers thing? You can't do that without permission, and I'm actually pretty sure it's not allowed in high school at all, unless there are special needs." Declan furrowed his brow slightly.

"Wait, I didn't mean it like that!" Koda exclaimed. "Do you have to misinterpret everything I say? I meant like keep a tally. I'll record in a notebook who I think it good and who I think it bad. Geez..."

Declan raised an eyebrow, "Okay well now I'm intrigued. However, it couldn't be just a tally. I would want to see valid reasons why. The high schoolers perspective explained to one who may have forgotten it. It' sounds entertaining."

"Alright, I'll give reasons for it. This might actually make me want to go to class," Koda said with a smile. "Aren't you glad?"

Declan smirked, not even bothering to hide it, "I must say I do rather like this deal. But why? Why would you do it?"

Koda pursed his lips. "I had a reason when we started this..." he trailed off. He couldn't quite remember what that reason was though. He had just been responding to what Declan was saying, not really thinking about where the conversation would lead. "I guess I just want to be right. Prove the teachers are bad at this school or something." He got a bright look in his eyes suddenly. "Hey! It's like a bet! You think teachers are good, and I think their lame...uh, no offense to you. Wanna bet some money?"

Declan watched Koda, studying him briefly before saying, "Fair enough. However, I'm not betting money. So many things could go wrong with that. Let's exchange something less likely to get me in trouble; I'm already in deep-shit with this job anyway. I'd really like to keep it," he raised an eyebrow, "and I'd imagine you would like me too as well. So let's say we exchange something of value, something I have that you want, something you have that I want: like perhaps your kickass headphones."

Koda raised an eyebrow at Declan. "I see how you're gonna play this. The problem is, you don't have anything I want. It's way more fun with money. Tsk," he muttered. "But its true I'd like you to keep your job."

"Well money isn't going to happen and I don't have anything you want, so how are we going to play this? Do you have any better suggestions? What would you normally bet?"
