OhSoDemanding, your area is a bit unusual so I'm not sure who to pair you up with just yet. I plan on going into Digital Media myself, but I have yet to study any 3-D modeling >_<
List has been updated ^^

I remember looking at DAZ once. I used to have it, couldn't figure out the life of me how to use it. ._. I had this awesome anime book that had all the 3-d characters that this guy did and wanted so bad to learn how to do them, I still kinda do, but.. I think I might need to learn how to draw on paper right first. xD

Thank Platinum for going through all this for me. I don't want you to trouble you though.
@LoversEnd: It took me ahile to figure out DAZ and I still haven't learned everything. But I'm still trying.

@oHsoDemandinG-
I know I'm not your mentor, but I'd like to give a few tips? I'm a 3D animation student, and know a few 3-D programs.
Daz Studio doesn't look like the best program to be using. WHat do you use it for? I don't quite know the interface, but the work that comes out of the website looks..Poser-ish? Meaning, they have models that come with the program, and you tweak them. Usually that's...well, frowned upon in the 3D world.
I would suggest Blender. Though I haven't used it, the work that comes out of it is more professional and the interface reminds me a bit more of what 3D artists use in the industry ( Maya, 3DS Max, etc) I use Max, but I go to a 3D animation school, so I don't have to purchase it.
Learning how to model yourself, learning interfaces that are like the big programs, and going from there should help you get into the 3D world a bit easier.

Thank you Anna. I was thinking about that myself. I tried to download Blender but it didn't work for some reason I think it had something to do with Python? Anyway I really appreciate you help and tips. I've been trying to get just a little advice for a long time.

You could give Google Sketch Up a try; that's free to use. I've been meaning to try it myself, but I just don't have the time. D;

Hmm.. I'll have to look at that.
I forgot to mention that I'm running Linux, so things are hard to find sometimes. xD

There is also True Space 7.6, but I've never used it. I just know it's free.

What do you guys think of a mini anatomy tutorial? I was thinking of creating one for my mentees, but I think it would be helpful to everyone, if enough people cared about it XD

An anatomy tutorial would be great. But, a word of caution. Being a mentor and teaching has a huge effect on the mentees. Make sure that you do indepth research on muscular and skeletal anatomy before you create the tutorial. I've seen many tutorials already that show the "building blocks" (like the skeletal gestures, etc.) Many of the "how to draw" methods are wrong and really hurt people trying to become artists. Anatomy is a tricky subject, I know that at this point in my career, I wouldn't be able to put together a good anatomy tutorial, since the human skeletal and muscular anatomy is so evasive, it seems. Or maybe it's because I copied "how to draw manga" techniques.

Well, I'm taking life drawing, and I've actually had to draw a full skeleton and all the muscles >w<
Now that I look at How to Draw Manga books, they should only ever be used AFTER one has the basics down. They sort of helped me, they sort of didn't. The underlying structure is soooo important o.e.
I don't plan on doing a "you must do this" sort of tutorial, more like guidelines to help with improvement >w<

I guess that's where I messed up. I do better copying things, than drawing of my own free will. I can draw animals better than humans too. 8nods* I used manga books since I was in 7th grade, I prolly shouldn't have.

Well, one must use the resources available to them, which is what I think you did. I got into college with almost all manga in my portfolio X'D

OH, and this is a note to Linkfreak: I haven't forgotten about your portfolio, I just don't reply so that it doesn't disappear from my message box. I tend to clean out things I reply to, it's how I stop myself XD
