Well, my twins... They are the Dreamers. Although, the fact they are race can be questioned, i consider them so.
Usually, there is just one Dreamer. It is certain elven family line that gives this title further down to their children. The Dreamer is able to sense people dreams, both night and heart ones. They "feed" from their existence, rather, they need to be around people who dream and hope to continue existing. And without them, not a single person in this world would hope and dream, because they are the ebodiment of this element in this world. So, it's one-hand-washes-the-other-both-are-clean thing. Dreamer can also alter dreams of person, and that can be horrible and wonderful thing. Basically, the Dreamer is immortal - immune to age - but eventually, it becomes so tuned with Dream realm, that it fades/merges into it and loses all threads that connect it to real world, so it cannot be the dream bringer anymore. And this last generation, twins were born, and also both chosen in ritual performed by their mother - previous Dreamer.
Leila's (my assassin one) race is half human, half Shadow people. Shadow people are natural inhabitants of shadow realm, they are much alike humans, but in truth, they are shadows that have become so thick, that they have gained mind of their own and when mass of these shadow "clunks" first met another creature, it was human, so they shaped after them.
There are also lesser shadows - like ghost of sorts, souls of fallen souldiers and such, that are consumed by darkness and finds peace of sorts when Shadow person claims as their "protege". They are then the loyal servant of that Shadow person. Some wander around unclaimed and do bad things, sometimes.
The first one kind of reminds me of something I was reading about in the Fables comic.
Basically it was that some characters are so important that they last forever. They are always born back into the world. Like the boogeyman. He is every darkness and shadow that spooks a person. He is everywhere.
I haven't read the comic, but I love dream element, and somehow, they came to me. xD
I also even tried making a story how the Dreamer came to be, as it wasn't there from the beginning of world and such.
I just noticed in one of the posts on the first page, that was by Silver, that is says that the contest runs from July 24 to July 30. But I assume that you mean June.
