Sometimes the things you fear are the things you come to love...

Some people seem to think that the country of England is a very dismal place. There almost always seems to be clouds in the sky, and there's never a day where it isn't raining; in winter the snow can get so deep that you can get stuck inside your house for who knows how long.
In this dismal country, amongst the stormy clouds that seem to rein over England, some people think they see shapes flitting through the rain, their black capes flapping wildly in the wind. Then the person blinks, and the shape disappears. The person stares at the spot a moment longer then shakes their heads, bemused and thinking it's the rain playing tricks on them.
What the people of England don't know is that those shapes aren't just oddly-shaped clouds, nor are they the result of rain-filled skies and an old man with bad eyes. These shapes are people, floating through the sky as if they haven't a care in the world.
And the people of England still don't know that these people, who they've feared and hated since ancient times, are witches. But do not fear, my good people, for these witches aren't the big-nosed, couldron-stirring, hunch-backed hags that seem to revolve around the legend; they are ordinary people, just like you and I, who happen to have a special gift. These gifts allow a witch to decipher what weather will come in days to come, the gender of a child before it is born, and the preparation and mixing of herbs to help the sick and afflicted in times of need. Some witches are even able to control the elements a little, though this trait isn't as common as the others.
When these witches are young, they attend a school that is found high among the clouds, in a dark and dreary place called St. Juniper's Academy for Witches. The academy is designed to not only tutor the young witches in the ordinary knowledge of maths, science, and other subjects you'd find at any school, but also teach them how to use their powers to the best of their ability.
Now go, young people, but tell no one of the things I have told you! If the witch-haters that remain today found St Juniper's, there would be dire consquences for the youngsters that dwell within her...

You will be a first year witch from St. Juniper's Academy. The academy is actually a boarding school, and while you're there you will stay with one other person of the same gender. At the school you learn to make potions and how to fly magic broomsticks, and the uniform is casual (but everything has to be either dark gray, navy blue or black). Your day will begin with the Sorting.

History: Was born in a family that was half witch and half human. She hates her parents for allowing her to be a half-breed, and takes her feelings out on those she feels are under her, which is pretty much everybody. Her younger sister, Bree, shares none of these feelings, so Shamira takes it out the most on her.

Personality: Danny is an enigmatic person, while social, doesn't like to let on about his personal life aside from shallow details. He is also a bit of a smart-aleck, always having a sarcastic or witty reply to whatever a person says and easily evading questions and confrontation. Unfortunately, it can sometimes come off as being rude He sometimes lazy when it comes to work, but if needed he will focus and concentrate on whatever is ahead of him.
History: Daniel grew up in a family that picked favorites. He wasn't the favorite child of his two magic bearing parents as his brother's (Jerry) powers came earlier than his did and so his mother and father took to teaching Jerry all the tricks of the trade while Danny was left neglected. It wasn't until he showed the innate ability to teleport and levitate himself that his parents truly started to show interest in him, but it was too late. Danny had grown bitter towards them, but not Jerry and so set off for St. Juniper's Academy as he figured it was a better alternative.

Personality: Very intelligent, loves to read, refuses to do anything that he deems pointless, and is very kind and open towards his friends.
History: Parents abandoned him when they discovered his abilities, he was taken in by a man who taught him how to control auric energy and was eventually enrolled in the school. He had learned many spells while living with the old man, including the ancient language that he now uses.
Appearence: He has black hair with yellow stripes, violet eyes and a slightly muscular body. He is also thin and usually wears navy blue jeans and a navy blue t-shirt with the schools emblem on the sleeve.
Other: Can use aura to create weapons and do other tasks, can store magical energy inside an gem to use later, and knows an ancient language that he uses to cast the more mundane spells(create fire, lift objects, etc.)

Personality: He's a cruel, heartless mercenary who would do anything if the price was right. He can also be a tad gruesome.
History: He was born to a poor family and ran away due to neglect. He was found in an alley by a master thief/assassin. He was trained to follow in his mentor's footsteps, but ended up becoming a mercenary.
Appearence: He has red hair and cold blue eyes. He is tall, thin, and pretty muscular due to his training. He usually wears a long trench coat to cover his pistols and the guns on his back. He wears black gloves, a black undersuit (think ninja constume, dont't know what to call it), and black military boots.
Other: He is extremely adapt at passing security and gaining intel. He is usually covered in hidden weapons such as shuriken, knives, explosives, and pistols. He has two uzis and an ak-47 strapped to his back.

Personality: Even from a young age, Jenova was always independent. She would do things for herself and more often than not, if she has a problem she'll try to fix it silently rather than ask for help. Now this is a problem when she is under a leader as she will often clash with them, though that can also be because of a slight trust issue she has. When angered, she is defiant and downright spiteful, able to clearly ignore orders, unless it puts too many lives in danger.
History: Raised by a duo of witch hunters, Jenova was raised to fight and kill witches since she was seven (though why she didn't really know). She never really did come close to contacting one though and it was only when one had flew by her house that she saw a shadow of one.

The Basic Story of the Witches and Humans

Hundreds of years ago, witches were a well known sub-species of humans. In those days, they were gravely misunderstood, and seen as evil and unnatural beings. Hunting parties raided Witchen communities and killed hundreds who couldn't escape. All too soon, the witches learned to hide properly, and to keep their abilities a close secret, and the humans started killing their own people in their search for the witches.
After a time, the generations decided that the huntings of their fathers were simply fed by suspicion and differences between people. The act of hunting witches was for the most part abandoned. Witches slowly came back into the light, and were accepted as if they were whole humans. But, in the darkest corners of humanity, there were still the cults and activists who still saw the witches for what they really were. These cults and activists sought for the destruction of the newly raised witches, but were abashed by the politicians of the day.
Now these people go around in secret, seeking to find and destory the Witchen race forever.
