Oh yes I second that, that songs so sweet and so sad at the same time
Quote:
Baby mine, don't you cry.
Baby mine, dry your eyes.
Rest your head close to my heart,
never to part, baby of mine.

Little one, when you play,
pay no heed what they say.
Let your eyes sparkle and shine,
never a tear, baby of mine.

If they knew all about you,
they'd end up loving you, too.
All those same people who scold you,
what they'd give just for the right to hold you.

From your hair down to your toes,
you're not much, goodness knows.
But, you're so precious to me,
sweet as can be, baby of mine.
There you go theres the lyrics short, simple, sweet and sad at the same time. Eh I have lots more sad songs but I have to find the lyrics first...i'll post them then..

This song doesn't really make me sad… maybe just a little. It's from the anime Marmalade Boy, and this song is from the musical box the main character gets from the guy she likes.

Quote:

We've never done more than kiss before now.
Don't let go. Ah, don't let go of me again.
Please keep holding me (and my heart).

My cheeks burn as you trace a path from my lips.
How should I act towards you tomorrow?
Why is my heart beating so quickly?
What sort of mystery will we explore next?

I don't understand. Ah, I don't understand any more.
I want to throw off my confusion, and go running (after you).
Say you'll take me. Ah, please say you'll take me with you again,
to a place I can never return from.

It's not a dream. Ah, it's not a dream any more.
From now on, a kiss will only be the beginning.
Don't let go. Ah, don't let go of me again.
Hold my heart and I in your hands.
This song makes me sad. It's another song from Marmalade Boy, and it doesn't help that this song was played during a really sad scene in the anime. And now, I'm listening to it and I kind of want to cry, because it's a really touching song, even though I don't understand it.

I've bravely closed my eyes against
emotions that are overwhelming me.

I won't cry until it's over.
Even though that face and voice
are tearing my heart apart.
Why did this happen? I don't want to
believe it... with all these memories.
I love you too much.

I can't even speak,
though my heart cries out.
If I keep holding you back like this,
you'll be soaked by the rain.

If I keep holding you back like this,
you'll be soaked by the rain.

Without looking back, you say,
"We'll meet again some day,"
the final promise I was waiting for.
I know we can never share the
same dreams again, but....
I wish I could stop time like this.

I don't cry until it's over.
Once you can't see me,
my courage melts away.
I don't want to believe...I still
can't...with all these memories.
I love you too much.

Alright.
Superchick - "Courage"
This song always makes me sad.
It reminds me of what I went and am still some what dealing with. And what a friend went through.

Quote:
I told another lie today
And I got through this day
No one saw through my games
I know the right words to say
Like "I don't feel well," "I ate before I came"
Then someone tells me how good I look
And for a moment, for a moment I am happy
But when I'm alone, no one hears me cry

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be OK
Together we can make it through another day

I don't know the first time I felt unbeautiful
The day I chose not to eat
What I do know is how I've changed my life forever
I know I should know better
There are days when I'm OK
And for a moment, for a moment I find hope
But there are days when I'm not OK
And I need your help
So I'm letting go

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be OK
Together we can make it through another day

You should know you're not on your own
These secrets are walls that keep us alone
I don't know when but I know now
Together we'll make it through somehow
(together we'll make it through somehow)

I need you to know
I'm not through the night
Some days I'm still fighting to walk towards the light
I need you to know
That we'll be OK
Together we can make it through another day

One other song that makes me sad is "We Are Broken" by Paramore.
I prefer their first album more when I'm in a very good mood. :]
But the Riot album was amazing all around.
Other than the fact her voice is amazing the lyrics are just, wow.
At least they are to me. <3

Quote:
I am outside,
And I've been waiting for the sun.
With my wide eyes,
I've seen worlds that don't belong.

My mouth is dry,
With words I cannot verbalize.
Tell me why,
We live like this.

Keep me safe inside,
Your arms like towers.
Tower over me, yeah.

'Cause we are broken.
What must we do to restore,
Our innocence,
And all the promise we adored?
Give us life again,
Cause we just wanna be whole.

Lock the doors,
'Cause I'd like to capture this voice.
It came to me tonight,
So everyone will have a choice.

And under red lights,
I'll show myself it wasn't forged.
We're at war,
We live like this...

Keep me safe inside,
Your arms like towers.
Tower over me.

'Cause we are broken.
What must we do to restore,
Our innocence,
And all the promise we adored?
Give us life again,
'Cause we just wanna be whole.

(Ahh...Ahh...)
Tower over me... (Ahh...)
Tower over me...

And I'll take the truth at any cost.

'Cause we are broken.
What must we do to restore,
Our innocence,
And all the promise we adored?
Give us life again,
'Cause we just wanna be whole.

Um, the titanic song makes me sad.

Also, Guang Liang's Tong Hua (Fairytale): It's sad if you watch the music video that goes with it.

My Will is also pretty sad (You know, the ending song in Inuyasha)

Because I'm a Girl is another sad song. Like Tong Hua you'll have to watch the music video on youtube in order to see why its so sad. :<

Mine would be Umbrella by Marie' Digby, Dance with the Devil and Decembers of Love. All three make me sad, but Dance with the Devil is a song I love but I try to avoid because of it's content matte. I just need to hear it once to get me depressed the whole day.

Heroes by David Bowie gets me for some reason.
It sucks because it was recently put into a commercial and now I hear it all the time.

Also; Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
and Harmony by Elton John.

End of the End- Paul McCartney
Quote:
"At the end of the end
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
would have to be special
No need to be sad"
Sally's Song (cover version)-Nightmare before Christmas
I think it's due to the singer of this version that makes it very sad on the verge of tears...-_-;

Because I'm a Girl is a really sad song. The video is even sadder, if you're a romantic kind of person.

My Prayer by BoA is also sad if you read this translation of it: http://forums.boajjang.com/index.php?showtopic=20273.

Actually, I almost cried in a concert. We were performing this piece "Watchmen, Tell Us of the Night" in Wind Ensemble, and if there is any music that has any form of a plot, it is that. I don't remember the composer, but actually it was supposed to be through the eyes of an abused child.

Other than that, most music that makes me cry is either because it is so beautiful, or you can really feel the story even without the words.

Nightwish's "Poet and the Pendulum" has almost pushed me to tears. I love the musicality of the instrumental parts of it, and its sad.

"Cats in the Cradle" by
Harry Chapin. It makes
me realise how much I
neglected my father while
growing up.

Quote:
"A child arrived just the other day
he came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking for a minute, and as he grew
He said "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blew on the man-in-the-moon
When ya coming home dad? I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then.

My son turned 10 just the other day
he said "Thanks for the ball, dad. Come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw?" I said "Not today.
I got a lot to do" he said "That's OK"
And he walked away but his smile never did he said
"I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blew on the man-in-the-moon
When ya coming home dad, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then.

Well he came from college the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"I'm so proud of you; can you sit for a while?"
he shook his head and he said with a smile
"What I feel like dad is to borrow the car keys.
See ya later, can I have them please?"

And the Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blew on the man-in-the-moon
When ya coming home son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then.

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day...
I said "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said "I'd love to dad if I could find the time.
See the new job's a hassle and kids are the flu,
but it was sure nice talking to you, dad. It was
sure nice talking to you."
And as I hung up the phone, it occured to me.
He'd grown up just like me, yeah.
My boy, is just like me.

And the Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon.
Little boy blew on the man-in-the-moon.
When ya coming home son? I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then.

A few weeks ago I made a playlist of songs that make me tear up, so I'll share it with you guys with reasons behind them as well.

Damien Rice - I Remember: The emotion in his voice in the last half is so powerful, I can usually hold it in for most of the song but once it gets to the last bits,I just lose it. It's such a perfect story of love from beginning to end. Very bittersweet.

Bjork - Play Dead: This is a very sad song to me. It's about giving into your sadness and pain and pretty much living inside of it and forsaking hope.

Mugison - Salt: This is a song about a child who was murdered by her mother at the beach. It's so haunting, as the voice is so childlike and innocent, sounding so confused as to why her mother would do it. Gorgeous. The part about her mother sounding like a violin is utterly heartwrenching.

Peter Salett - Hey Susan: While it's an upbeat song, it's about reflecting upon lost friendship and love. He's looking back at a time he spent with someone long ago and wishing he'd said more, wishing he knew how she felt about what they shared.

Kate Havnevik - Kaleidoscope: This song makes me cry because it's so powerful, about the positive effect one person can have on your life...

Elliott Smith - Pretty (Ugly Before): He's talking about a brief period in life where, for once, he felt like he was worth something, felt good, felt "pretty"...but how fleeting that moment is.

Tony Bennett - I'll Be Seeing You: Well, anyone who has heard this song knows it's got to be the most romantic song about recalling a lost love, at least in my opinion...the last part of the lyrics gets me every time.

Bright Eyes - It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends: A resigned song about remaining friends with someone after the relationship ends, and how all he can dwell on is what they don't do or say anymore, rather than what they do.

Live - Lightning Crashes: This song touches me because it's about the circle of life, worlds beginning and ending in the same instant, and how vastly different things can be from one moment to the next. It's awesome.

Well, that's about it for now but I'd like to add that I love when a song can effect me to this extent. The power and beauty of music is amazing to me. :]

"Run" by Snow Patrol always makes me sad, 'cause it reminds me of someone who I'll forever hold in my heart. <3

Quote:
I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

Slower slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
"Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls is also a sad song, but it brings happy-sad instead of sad-sad, if that even makes sense. xD

"Your Guardian Angel" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is so sad, too! Goodness I could go on and on, but I'll refrain from doing so. n.n;;

I don't think of myself as someone who cries over songs. Ever. Until my boyfriend left on tour (yeah he's a musician) and broke up with me, with no warning whatsoever. I definately didn't want to be out of the reationship at all. I cried every time I thought about him, until 1.5 months after he had been gone or so. (pretty recently, he's been gone for 2 months)

I was on the trolley one morning, and I heard this song for the frst time, and I just started crying. It reminded me of what happened.

Quote:
New Found Glory - Make Your Move Lyrics

I know you're losing sleep over me
I know you'll relive every moment
Below sheets where dreams are made

I know you'll cover your eyes
I know you'll quiver when fingers touch your side
But it all coincides some way.

Move a little closer, hold me tighter
I'll stay if you're gonna keep me in line
Don't want it to be over, move move slower
I'll stay if you're gonna keep me in line (in line)

I know everything reminds you of me
Even the songs you thought I'd never sing
I know you'll mess up your hair
I know you'll do things you would never dare
But it all coincides in some way

Now we're here, with the lights turned low
You won't regret anything we do
It's up to you, now make your move

Kissing You by Des'ree.
It's in the film Romeo and Juliet (the most recent version) and along with the film, it's just heart wrenching and even though i adore the song i can't help but feel the same pain as the characters did in the film.

There are the lyrics:

Quote:
Pride can stand a thousand trials,
the strong will never fall
But watching stars without you,
my soul cried.
Heaving heart is full of pain,
oh, oh, the aching.
'Cause I'm kissing you, oh.
I'm kissing you, oh.
Touch me deep, pure and true,
gift to me forever
'Cause I'm kissing you, oh.
I'm kissing you, oh.
Where are you now?
Where are you now?
'Cause I'm kissing you.
I'm kissing you, oh.

Seize the Day by Avenged Sevenfold.

I listened to it a lot when my grandpa was in the hospital this summer.

That and it makes me think about what I could've done versus what I didn't do in the past.
