Salutations to one and all. Once again winter brings the holiday season to us. 'Tis the season for goodwill, for friends and for giving. Oh, and rampant commercialism. :insane:

But for now let us put aside the latter and focus on, y'know, those other things. Here you will have the opportunity to gaily embellish a jaunty, ribbon-festooned gift box in the hopes of procuring a rather tasty sum of gold. In layman's terms, an art contest. But an art contest like no other! What we have here is an art contest befitting the spirit of giving. For every prize won a prize of equal value awaits for another.

Greetings, Tender Lumplings! I am Captain Howdy, the lone male mod 'round these parts, and your host for this here art contest. You may have caught a glimpse of me once or twice as I move, nimble and gazelle-like, through the forums. You may have also seen me in the 1956 movie classic Those Crazy Communists. Or you may know me from one of my many acclaimed spoken word albums. My last one, A Devil's Food Too Far, which consists of me reading the back of cake mixes while playing the sitar, garnered three and a half stars from the Seattle Granola Monthly.

Decorate the gift box template below and dedicate it to another user. Submit your entry and if you win, both you and the person your art is dedicated to will win gold!

• Traditional/Seasonal ~ This category encompasses all aspects of the season. Whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Festivus, etc. If you celebrate it, it's fair game. Or stepping away from the holidays, this category can be about serene, snow strewn avenues on a peaceful December's day. About two young lovers canoodling before a roaring fire. Perhaps lying on the beach and watching the sunset, for our friends in the southern hemisphere. ;D Whatever this time of year means to you.
• Humorous ~ This category is for all you jokesters. Show the lighter side of the season by offering images of Santa getting his fat can wedged in a chimney. Dreidels stuck up noses. Or an army of ravenous snowmen, infused with the blood of Satan, chowing down on the brains of the innocent. :3 If it's funny, it'll do.
• Non-traditional/Abstract ~ This category is for... pretty much everything else. :B Go crazy.

• Follow Menewsha's Rules and ToS.
• All work must be your own.
• Paint programs and real life mediums (pencils, paints, etc.) are acceptable. Tracing and stencils are not allowed. --- To keep this contest that much more simple, i'm going to ask that entries be limited to traditional art. This means no actual decorated gifts, clay, ice sculptures, wood carving, mashed potato creations, etc. Any unconventional mediums.
• To enter, decorate the gift box template provided and submit using the entry form below. --- Be sure to add a link to the profile of the person you are dedicating your gift to. This will save me the trouble of hunting down people. ;D
• You may not dedicate your gift box to your mule. Let's keep things honest. Keep in mind that we have the ability to check IP addresses.
• If you'd like to forgo the gift box template and create your own design, feel free to do so.
• You are allowed up to three entries per category.
