Name: Jennifer Jares
Age: 16
Bio: Jennifer or as she's more affectionately known JJ is the sports star at an all girls school, while she's good at sports she isn't so great at other things, like say English or History. Sure she can pull off passing grades but nothing very impressive. She puts more energy into training for her next track met, baseball season, or even a gymnastic met. But there is a secret she doesn't want others to know.. a secret she's been trying to keep under wraps but have been finding it harder and harder as she's gotten older.

Name: Brynn Olivia Daniels
Age: Sixteen almost seventeen
Bio: Brynn or Bookworm as she prefers to be called is a scholarship attendee at the local all girls school. She's not a genius mind you but she is pretty smart. She excels at all of her classes except for one: gym. Even when she does bother to dress out Brynn is still failing the class. Some girls are meant to run and bookworms, especially this bookworm, is not made to run or do anything of a physical nature. Sadly her scholarship contract has one tiny condition: Brynn must pass all of her classes with a C or higher. So unless she gets a C or manages to make the Gym teacher take pity on her she's in big trouble! Oh what is a girl to do?!

”Jennifer earth Jen is anyone in there?” a random waving hand broke into the girls thoughts; startling her and making her take a step back. Shaking her head Jennifer focused on her closest friend Caitlin or better known as Cat by her teammates. A pretty blue eyed girl, with wavy black hair that reached her shoulders, though it was more commonly found tied back on a ponytail. The girl was a head taller than Jennifer so to look her in the eye Jennifer had to take a step back and look up at her. They were only a year apart and had known one another since they were children; luckily they had been sent to the same all girls boarding school. ”What is it Cat?” Jennifer asked an eyebrow arched in question. ”It’s your turn at the plate would you hurry up and go, I want a turn to take a whack at it” Cat pushed the girl towards the home plate. It was gym class and they were playing a class game of baseball, all the girls were split into two groups and currently Jennifer’s group was at bat. Baseball was a game JJ enjoyed a game she was good at. PE was of course her best subject not that it was anything to be proud of.

Taking her turn at the plate she gripped the bat expertly eyes narrowed as the pitcher, the coach, gripped the ball easily. Normally the coach took it easy lobbing an underhanded ball, but since JJ was up and she was part of the baseball team, the coach wasn’t going to play it easy. JJ smiled scuffing the toe of her dirty sneaker against the ground; the pitch came, not an easy throw but a fast ball. The crack of the ball hitting the bat could be heard as the ball soared out into right field. Not waiting to see if the girl had picked it up or not Jennifer took off rounding two bases before coming to a stop on third, the girl just now lobbing the ball in. ”Whew go JJ!” Cat her personal cheerleader It seemed sometimes called from the sidelines taking her own place at bat. Her mind started to wander once more as Cat hit a ground ball which only allowed the girl to get to first base. The girl manning third was eying Jennifer, making sure the girl didn’t try to steal home. It was tempting to steal home, but she didn’t take the chance especially with the coach as pitcher. ”That was a weak hit Cat” her loud voice could be heard over everyone else’s making Cat flash her a glare. ”Oh you be quiet we all can’t be baseball prodigies you know" Cat called out in a teasing voice. Cat wasn't into baseball as much, swimming, track, and basketball were her things. While track, baseball, and gymnastics were for Jennifer.

Brynn hated gym, it had nothing to do with the teacher-the coach was nice enough- and it everything to do with the class. Seriously who was going to need to be able to run a mile or more in a set amount of time? Just what person was going to need to know how to hit a ball flying right at you? See call her crazy but if something was coming right at you, you ducked out of the way and ran for your life! Sports were not safe, and they were not fun! They insanely painful games of torture that evil sadistic teachers forced the weak nerdy girls like herself to play. Ok so maybe it was a bit of an overstatement but really, some people were meant to play ball and others were meant to read books. Brynn was one of those people that were meant to stay holed up in a corner of the library with her nose buried in a book. Was that such a bad thing?!

Her inner rant was put to a stop by the crack of the bat. That sound alone was enough to have her jerking to attention with a soft squeak of terror. “Alright Daniels, you’re up! Look just stand there and hold the bat over the plate, you won’t have to worry about anything. I’ll do all the work.” The Coach coaxed giving her problem student a soft smile. When she said ‘problem’ student she didn’t meant that Brynn was bad personality wise. She meant athletics wise. The kid couldn’t even throw a ball with hurting herself or those around her. And while it was endearing to watch her try and do something productive in an easy class, the coach really didn’t feel like writing yet another clinic pass for Brynn so she could spend the rest of the class out of harms way.

Just stand there? She was kidding right? Brynn bit he rlower lip nervously before reaching up to make sure her hair hadn’t fallen out of the pony tail she’d pulled it up into at the beginning of class before she stepped up to the plate and hesitantly held the bat over the plate. ’I hate sports! I hate sports! I h ate gym more and I utterly loathe the person who invented the rules of baseball! If I get hit I’m going to go to his or her grave and I’m going to give him a piece of my mind-‘ she thought her mind keeping up an endless string of nervous worrying as the coach pulled into the wind up. Oh no! Here it came..Biting back another terrified squeak she shut her eyes as the ball sailed towards her…

”Crap, move Brynn! Bad pitch!” the coach barked out the command. Not that telling her to move did any good. Brynn let out a yelp as the baseball connected solidly with her side. True it was an underhanded pitch but that didn’t take the sting away from something decidedly hard with something soft. Dropping the bat, Brynn exhaled through clenched teeth as she bent over hugging herself. The coach sighed softly and motioned towards first. “Take your base….actually just take a seat on the side line. Good effort today.” She muttered waving towards the side line. Forget about the clinic pass! She’d just let Brynn watch for the rest of the class period. “Alright I need a runner on first.” She hadn’t acted particularly concerned over Brynn’s injury, it wasn’t that she doubted Brynn was hurt but she was pretty sure the girl wasn’t hurt, she’d thrown the ball under handed and as slow as possible! It might smart a little but Brynn wasn’t seriously hurt. Besides this was a regular occurrence with Brynn. Once Brynn was settled safely on the sidelines with an icepack-see it happened so regularly she had icepacks on hand!-the coach took her place back on the pitchers mound to continue the game.

The sun was shining down on her, hot so hot it felt like she was standing under a heat lamp; it would be like the coach to pick a hot ass day to make them play baseball. Why couldn’t she have picked something nice and cool like swimming? Or an inside sport? But nope it was an outside sport that involved running and then standing around and the whole while the sun beat down on you. Which usually didn’t bother JJ but today felt especially hot and she wasn’t particularly interested in playing baseball. A bead of sweat rolled down her cheek and she wiped it away absently eager to get out of the hot sun. If she could get home then at least she could sit down on the bench under a shade for a little while.

Brynn stepped up to the plate and Jennifer inwardly groaned, it wasn’t that she didn’t like the girl it was just well she wasn’t all that good at baseball. Well let’s face it she sucked. So there wasn’t a chance JJ could get on home with this player up at bat. Her thoughts were proved true when the couch tossed the pitch and Brynn got hit smack on the side. JJ winced in sympathy though in truth she had gotten hit far harder playing ball before and to her that was like a love tap. But then JJ was used to those things, with all the sports she played she was always hurt in some way or another. In fact she had only gotten out of a cast a week ago. Broken her arm trying a new skateboard trick Cat had showed her. Just in time to the gymnastic season was coming up and the coach in charge planned on putting them through their paces getting them ready.

Stretching out her back until she heard a pop, JJ got ready, now or never. The next player at bat was an average girl who JJ knew from experience hit a pretty good fly ball. Tensing strong leg muscles JJ waited, with a crack the ball came into contact with the bat and flew just over second base, the girl took off the same as JJ did racing for home. A ball flew over her head the catcher about to snatch it out of the air, putting a burst of speed on she slid into home just before the catcher tagged her arm. The couch declared her save and JJ saw her chance to take a break. Wiping another bead of sweat off her forehead she commandeered the seat next to Brynn, panting softly from her run.

”How’s the side Brynn?” she asked after a few moments awkward silence where they watched a girl hit a ground ball towards third and run towards first only to be tagged out, the first out of the inning. Honestly she wasn’t sure what to say around the girl, they were as different as night and day, the areas Brynn excelled in weren’t JJ’s best subjects and vice versa. They really didn’t have much in common so it was hard to talk to the girl. She wasn’t the best student in gym, and always ended up getting hurt no matter what they were doing. Tightening her ponytail she glanced at the game relieved to see it was moving rather slow it meant she had more time to relax and kick back before heading back out on the field. Maybe if the game dragged on long enough she wouldn’t have to, it was an odd day when she just didn’t feel like playing a game of baseball, but honestly it was far too hot out.
