The world is ment to be a place of peace and happiness, an era of the people and harmony. Things are not always what they appear however. For centuries, people unlike others have slipped into the world, those who do not follow the normal laws and rules of mankind. They are known as the Shi No Ba'nin...Death Keepers. The reasoning for this, is behind what they are. When a person dies, they have the choice of passing onto the next life. This is usually what happens, sometimes by some miricle if it is not their time they come back. However, there are rare cases, in which these people do in fact die.

It is uncertain for sure what happens during this time, but for many they speak of a large room and a huge shadowy being who gave them a choice...to live. These people come back to life, when they should have stayed dead. They have been touched by the hand of death, and in doing so, they have been granted with abilities. Usually connected to how they die, these powers manifest themselves soon after coming back. How these people use their newfound abilities is up to them, though for some reason, coming back from the dead like this seems to take a dark turn with their minds as well as their hearts.

C.R.O.N.O.S is an organization that operates outside of the government, unless when absolutly nesecarry. The operate to keep these cases under wraps, and out of trouble. For people like this are not supposed to exist in the eyes of the people. They go against human nature, against the very laws of God and the design of the world. C.R.O.N.O.S seeks to correct this mistake. Those who fall under this category do not see it that way. They feel opressed, pushed down and often angry, which is another reason for them to act out against the world.

C.R.O.N.O.S has many skilled agents, but dealing with these cases is becoming more and more difficult. In order to do so, they have inlisted the help of their own Shi No Ba'nin, kept on a tight leash, they are used to draw out and take down these cases. But why is all of this happening? People cannot help but question the reasoning behind this, as well as the future. C.R.O.N.O.S as well as the others believe that this is some kind of coming judgment, the cases believe it is the new era of man, their era, while C.R.O.N.O.S thinks it is the coming judgement day of God and hell.

When the smoke clears, only one side can be left standing, and unfortunatly innocent people are stuck within the center. The world is facing complete distruction, left in the hands of death and its keepers.

Yukiteru (Yuki) Shigure

Morning was slow in the Shigure house. Yukiteru's mother would have left for work already, she was a nurse at the local hospital. Yuki himself had just woken up, moving into the bathroom slowly. He took a shower, before moving to the kitchen. Flipping on the news, he noticed that they were speaking about a murder that had happened the night before. Apparently a woman had been attacked within an ally near a building he passed by everyday to and from school. That made him a bit unnerved, the thought of it so close to someplace he knew was scary. He takes a breath, getting some cereal for breakfast. The report said that the woman had been badly beaten, she had never stood a chance against her attacker. He sighed, it seemed there were more of these odd attacks lately. There had been a man a few days ago, and a couple before that. They were naming this guy the slasher, since he seemed to always have a factination with slitting his victims throats or other places.

It made Yuki feel sick, so he flipped off the TV. Placing his bowl in the sink soon after, he had lost his appetite. He then moved to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Looking into the mirror, he noticed something behind him on the wall. They were not all unfamiliar to him, the slow red words making their way across the wall. Some would have been completely freaked out about this, but for Yuki, it was just another day. He had been seeing words like this for a few years now, popping up around all over. They never really told him who they were, no names, no location...nothing. He only knew that apparently they were there to help him, to guide him. So far, they had not led him wrong. They had helped him on a few occasions. He turned to face the writing, reading the words slowly.

They are getting closer.

A slight chill formed down his spine. For awhile now, the voices had been warning Yuki of someone that was coming. Apparently they were a threat, one the voices thought he needed to know about. Did they have something to do with the attacks? He took a breath, slowly gathering his nerve. "How close?" he asked. The other words slowly faded, as one word slowly in turn replaced them.

Today.

Today? What did that mean...were they that close? Were they going to find him today? Yuki knew what he could do was not natural. He did not know how he could do these things, but he could. Taking a breath, he walked out of the bathroom. He knew he was not the only one who was...different. He could sense it, even though it did not make a whole lot of sense right now. The voices had also hinted at some others, who were like him. Not all of them were good. For all he knew, the slasher could be like him. It kind of scared him, to know that it could possibly be so. All of this was a bit odd. He sat down on his bed. For as long as he could remember, he could see these voices. But that was not all... He opened his palm, looking as slowly something began to form. Starting out as a little beed sized red ball, it grew. The color was like that of blood, the surface glossy and maluable.

He watched as it squirmed a bit, it formed into a bit of a star, then into a ring. He takes a breath, closing his hand. It disappeared. He laid back on the bed, looking up at the cieling. He really was a freak. "Ugh!" he grabbed his pillow, covering his face for a moment with it. He peeked out from under it, it was almost time to leave according to the clock. He tossed the pillow aside. He slipped on a pair of tan shorts, a black shirt, and his black almost knee high boots. Last was his usual hat and coat. He grabbed his bag and his phone, moving to the door. His keys on the hook by it. He turned to glance back around at the appartment, sighing a bit. It was a good sized, for his mom and him. His father did not live with them. He was back in Japan..where he had been since Yuki was five.

He missed his dad a bit, but his mother said that it was for the best, and that they would be alright. She had alway been there for him, and she was a loving mother. He smils a bit, walking out before locking the door. He made his way down the stairs, his phone suddenly beeping. Slipping it out of his pocket, he flipped it open.

Avoid the tracks.

He was used to the voices contacting him this way to. Surfaces, phone, computer, etc. They really had no limits of how to get their message known. He wondered why they would want him to avoid the train tracks though. He also passed by them on the way to and from school. They were a shortcut, but now it seemed like he would have to be taking the longerway around. He did not mind the walk, he enjoyed the fresh air, and being outside. Yuki was a sophmore in highschool. They had been here for only about a year now. They had moved from the last place he had lived since being five. A lot had happened there, most of it he would have rather not relived. He sighed a bit, there were rumors about him moving around the state. Even in highschool now, there were people who knew about his past. He was known as a jinx and trouble by most.

He had few friends, and that was not helping his self esteme. He wished people would give him a chance, allow him to show them that he was a good guy rather than only letting the rumors speak about him. He made his way to the school, going to his locker. He noticed a few glances as he got his books for the morning. His friend Matt coming over. "Morning" he noticed the slight look on his face, and the people nearby. "Ignore them" he says, blocking them from view. "So did you see the news?" straight to buisiness as always. Yuki nodded, "yea....really close to home.." Matt nodded "It's creepy isn't it" he says, the two of them mad their way down the hall towards class. "I hope that they find out who it is soon...get him off the streets" Matt shuddered a bit. Yuki knew the feeling, it would be better when he was gone. The bell ring, the two of them saying goodbye and going into class.

Loki Vinter was a rather important man. Not only was he a leader, but he was also a leader of the Shi No Ban'nin. What's a Shi No Ban'nin? That's simple, they are death keepers. As expected, there are always good and bad sides -- those who fight for peace and those that seek havoc. Loki, an Old Norse name meaning trickster makes it perfectly clear what side of the spectrum this male fights on. Why, yes, Loki is what you would call a villain, or a bad guy. You see, upon his death (yes, he died) the male was given a rare opportunity. He met the God of Death himself and he whispered in his ear that he could live again. Given a new purpose, Loki rose from the ashes of his fiery wreck and sought to use his new found power for his own personal gain.

And that's exactly what he did.

With his illusions as an ace in his pocket, he slowly moved his way up the ranks in the Shi No Ban'nin. Within no time, he was going toe-to-toe with the head leader. But Loki grew bored of him and eventually offed the idiot. One cannot rule with great success unless they have the brains to do so. Loki had the brains. Prior to his death, he was enrolled in a university where he was pursuing a master's Marketing & PR. His bachelor's degree was in History and War that he paired with two minors in Campaign Planning & Management and Psychology. He was just four months shy of graduation, too. He was slated to be a great man with a lot of opportunities. In fact, he had already received four job offers, all of which he declined as he wanted to move onto get his PhD. He was going to pursue psychology again, as he loved the idea of understanding the mind. Why? Because understanding the mind meant knowing how to control it.

The master illusionist was currently sitting on his thrown in the underground palace of the Shi No Ban'nin. Deep beneath the surface of the earth was a large vault that served as a home for those who were committed to Loki and his cause. As a joke, he called his army "Loki'd." He found this humorous as it meant they were punked by him and had fallen victim to his charm and silver-tongue. Ah yes, the perks of being a crafty, skilled verbose man.

His hands slid below his chin as his eyes flicked toward the door. Not much was going on today. Perhaps, just maybe, he would indulge himself and venture outside. It was always fun to play with the pitiful mortals. They were unable to detect his illusions until he left. Oh the fun he had! It was glorious and he enjoyed it far too much.

As he rose, he saw a red dot pop up on his radar. Smirking, his cunning eyes smiled. "Oh, brother. It looks like you're finally up. Shall we play today?"

Completely bored out of her mind Nessa decided to go find something fun to do. Grabbing her leather jacket from her bed as she walked by she put it on as she exited her room. Grabbing her long wavy white hair she pulled it out from under her collar and let it flow freely down her back.

Not wanting anyone to see her she called upon her gift and disappeared. Sure she was still walking down that same hallway, but no one would see her or hear her unless she wanted them to. Nessa had custom boots made for her, they were silent as she walked. What use would invisibility be if someone could hear your footsteps?

An idea came to her head causing Nessa to take the next right. She was going to the throne room to see what Loki, their leader, was up to. Coming up to the doors that lead into the room she threw them open, still invisible. Seeing that Loki was standing up Nessa let go of the energy, instantly coming into view. "Where are we off to today?" She asked with a raised brow. "I'm bored, take me with you?"

Her hand reached down to her thigh where she grabbed a thin but razor sharp knife. It had been sheathed in a specially made thigh holder. The woman had dozens of them for her many different knives. She began to clean her nails with the knife, waiting to see what he would say.

A smirk slid onto Loki's face when his favorite person came strolling into his throne room. She seemed just as eager as he was to get out and do something a tad more exciting than waiting around for the ball to drop, so to speak. Moving his way toward her, he rested a hand on her shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. "Doll, you're always welcome to join me." A grin flicked on his face as his eyes glowed with sheer delight. It was always better to terrorize the town in company, especially good company.

Looping his arm around her back, Loki pulled the miss in tight. His free hand shot to the air before them. Spread wide, he circled it from one side to the other while talking about his dream. "Nessa, let's paint the town with blood and fear. Let's let darkness and despair drown the helpless minds. Let's make them fear what they cannot see. Let's make them beg for a hero. Or rather, two. Let them beg for us to be their salvation. And, once they do, let us make them swear their utterly pathetic, mortal lives to us." Loki loved to talk in exaggerated ideas; he dreamed big, which allowed him to push harder. He was a go-getter and would do all he could to make things happen. He would move mountains if it was possible. Well, being an illusionist, technically, it was.

Escorting the woman out, he continued to hold his arm on the nape of her back. He loved showing her off. They weren't exclusive. In fact, they weren't even a "thing." At least not presently. Although, the odds of them becoming a legit couple were few and far. Loki, although rather popular and a sucker for fawning fans, was not really one to settle down. He was more of a player, another trait of his that his brother, Halvard, despised.

With a chuckle, two the two rode the elevator up to the ground level. Within moments, the two were no longer in the grunge-style underground vault that was highly inspired by steampunk architecture. Rather, they were in what looked like a normal office building. It was their front, actually. Loki wasn't a moron so he knew he needed to make their headquarters look and feel normal. The office building was for an accounting firm. Some of the employees were actually members of Loki's Shi No Ban'nin army. Ah, it was nice to have such deep roots to prevent people from suspecting them. The building also housed an IT firm, which made sure no one could come in through the back doors. He made sure they were completely covered from all angles.

"What shall we do today, love?" His orange eyes looked around the streets as he tried to determine just what he wanted to do. "Is today a prank day? Or do we want to stir up some havoc for those pitiful C.R.O.N.O.S. agents?"

Hatsuharu Yamato

Morning, even though the sun was rising outside, the black curtains kept the light at bay. For a moment, all was still within the room. Slowly however, a mass upon the bed slightly stirred. Under the covers, Hatsuharu Yamato woke from yet another restless night of sleep. His head was pounding a bit, and it made him dizzy as he sat up within bed. He pushed the covers aside effortlessly, before standing. He was not in a hurry this morning, to get to the organization. Many referred to him simply by his last name of Yamato, it was known throughout the organization and the world.

It was both feared and respected by those who knew it, and for good reason to. His family was definitely one who would live on past their ending, for all they had accomplished. One of the least known but most important, was C.R.O.N.O.S. An organization named after the god of gods so to speak, it had not been his choice in a name. It was an organization passed down from generation to generation in his family. At the age of fourteen, he had taken over, few had been happy about that. The organization, was created to contain and eliminate threats that were…against nature…evil…monsters?

He sighed, he had heard many reasons for why they were doing this. They were bringing in and bringing down those known as the Shi No Ban’nin…death keepers. Ironically, Yamato himself was one of these beings, which made those in the organization question him and his leadership even more. The ‘Shi’ as they were called for short, were those who had come to deaths door by some event. They should have died, and for a given amount of time were dead. But they did not stay as such. Yamato had heard stories of a red room, of a large god like being who offered them life and power once more.

It was rumored that they met the god of death itself, weather one believed that to be Hades or Ares or whoever was up to them. Some even believed they met with the devil, for when they came back even though they looked human, they did things no human should ever be able to do. Yamato did not remember much about his death, though he had been questioned about it countless times before. It was when he was fourteen…when he took over. His parents and he were at one of their homes in Paris, his father on a business trip….He shook the thoughts from his head, now was not the time to be thinking about all of this. He made his way to the bathroom, letting steam fill it as he took a hot shower.

He closed his eyes, the heat helping to relax and wake him. He needed it. Slowly he made his way out to dress, adorning his usual military style clothing, it gave him an added air of power and authority to his own already natural aura. Moving to the curtains, he brushed one of them aside. The sun stung his eyes for a moment, as he looked out. This was seen as C.R.O.N.O.S’ base, his castle and home…on the surface it seemed perfectly natural, but underground… It had taken years to build and establish the substructure beneath the castle which served as the base for operations. There were posts all over the world, but this was the main one. No one was stupid enough to attack his home and the base.

Many people were already arriving, many were already here. It was time to get to work, he could not put it off forever. As soon as he stepped out of the room and to the stairs, he was approached by several men. Some trying to get him to look at and sign paperwork, others speaking about tasks that needed his attention. It was the same every day, unless he was in his chambers where he was not to be disturbed, he was almost never alone. They made their way down through the elaborate and slightly darkened castle, their footsteps and voices echoing off of the hall ceiling. Within the main hall, between two grand staircases leading to the upper levels, stood a simple grandfather’s clock. He opened the front, turning the hour hand to the six and the minute hand to the twelve. The clock chimed three times, after which he moved the hour hand up to sit alongside the minute hand on the twelve.

The clock chimed three more times, before swinging forward to reveal a white elevator. He stepped inside, followed by the men. Moments later, the clock swung shut and the hands on the face swung back to their normal time. The elevator had no buttons, it needed none. This one was only designated to go to and from the main floor of the substructure base. There were various other entranced and exits, but this one was used most often. The men refused to be silent during the decent, though Yamato himself did not speak at all. A ding soon sounded, and the elevator doors opened up to reveal a walkway.

Stepping out, he looked down below, to where rows of stations containing desks, computers and other technical gadgets sat. A large screen covering the wall adjacent from him. On either side, were staircases that led down into the level, and halls that branched out to lead to various other parts of the structure. It was known that certain reaches of it spanned out over the underground of the city, some places needing a car like vehicle to reach. He sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. It was time for another day.

Yue

The city looked beautiful within the morning sun. One would not have guessed that it was a hotspot for quite a lot of activity below the surface. A young man stood on a roof, looking out over the scene. His hair was silver, matched by his deep gray eyes. Usually he would have been wearing his glasses, but at the moment he had them off. People liked to say he looked intellectual and handsome with them on, though he often was told he looked well without them as well. He did not care much for looks though, it was what was beneath the surface that mattered...much like with the city. His name was Yue, no last name, merely Yue.

Little was known about him, even from those who were designated as being close to him. He was one of the Shi No Ban’nin, but he was not a monster or freak like others preferred to label them as. He was the leader of the Light, a group who valued the good and sought to create a more peaceful and better world for the Shi. Even if this meant they had to cross paths with some not to friendly enemies. C.R.O.N.O.S was the major one, out to kill them all…Loki’d was close behind, since they were partially responsible for giving the Shi a bad reputation.

They were a band of darker people, who would rather use their abilities for fun and for gain. It did not help that many of the Shi around the world who were not even within one of these two bands often followed the way of darkness. There were those who were good, who just wanted to live and a better future. Those were the ones Yue was searching for. He had come to this city awhile back, and had quickly made it to the top of C.R.O.N.O.S radar, after freeing a group of Shi who had been rounded up and were being taken in for processing. A nice way of saying locked up or killed.

There were those of the Shi who were working for C.R.O.N.O.S, only to keep on living…they were hunting and killing their own kind. A sigh passed his lips, as his eyes slid closed. He needed to find a way to speak to both sides, to get them to understand before something bad happened. It didn’t take a genius to know that there was something really dangerous on the horizon if neither side could back down or compromise. He moved a hand to the sheath on his back, slipping from it a silver sword. The blade was long, the hilt black. In the reflection, he looked at himself a bit.

He was one of them…human and Shi...he could not just sit by and watch them all destroy themselves, it had to be stopped. He replaced the blade in the sheath, before turning away from the edge of the building. He knew Loki’s base was nearby, and that would have made many Shi hesitate around this area, but he was unafraid of the other, and he needed to speak with him. Sooner or later the other would pick up on his presence here either before or after they were face to face. He was not looking for a fight, but if the other made a move he would have little choice but to defend himself. He could not allow himself to be killed, not now so early within this.

It was all a game most of the time to one side or the other, moving the pieces in an attempt to gain desired effects. The board was set…it was time to make the first move.

Halvard Vinter, often called Hal or Halv, found himself thirsting for energy this morning. Having stayed up late the night before to finish up a case, he sluggishly trudged his way across the room filled with desks. Half the desks were already preoccupied while the other half were just getting their owners. Halvard's desk, the furthest from where he stood, remained unoccupied and it would stay that way until he found himself some liquid motivation.

His sleepy eyes didn't even acknowledge that the boss had arrived. But why would they? They were practically shut with exhaustion. Whoa is the life of an agent who works far too hard for his own damn good. Bumping into the chest of a rather well-endowed woman, Hal finally managed to open his eyes past the halfway point.

"Yo," he said in a slumbersome tone to the fiery redhead that stood before him. He gave Rynn a half smile before he wobbled on his merry way. Sadly, he didn't make it very fair. He realized that machine was already empty. Shuffling backwards, he looked at Rynn's green orbs and lethargically pointed upstairs. "Don't suppose you want to join me in the quest to obtain caffeine," he murmured. It was at times like these that people would question Hal's quality as an agent. If he was this easily overcome by exhaustion, he surely was no use, right? Wrong. Hal was dedicated, working longer and harder than the rest. Tonight wasn't his first night not sleeping. In fact, tonight marked the forth night in a row that he had gotten less than four hours of sleep. He was on a mission, and a tough one at that.

Grabbing Rynn by the ass, accidentally, he pulled the woman with him as his hunt for the brown delight continued. Just as he was about to reach the elevator, he spied another agent rising from his seat to put on another pot. A look of sheer annoyance washed over his face. "I hate everyone," he mentioned in a cold, emotionless tone. At this point, there was no need to go upstairs, especially since neither knew if the coffee was even in existence up there. Again, Halvard pivoted on his heels and made his way toward the break room. The scent of fresh brewing coffee served as his only means for picking up the pace, which practically toppled Rynn into a row of desks.

"Hey now," he tried to joke, "this is a matter of life or death." Yanking the beauty's arm, he made sure she stayed by his side. It was always good to have a Shi No Ba'nin on your side. After all, this was precious coffee we're talking about! Who knows what the other agents might try to pull on the dead tired Halvard!

Now that he was before the machine that was slowly beginning to spit out the liquid of his desire, he purred a bit in delight. Wafting in that sweet smell, he let out a sigh of happiness. "At least," he cooed while rubbing his cheek against the machine's warm body. "Come to Halvy. Dad's got you." A sleep deprived man was truly a sight to behold, so much so that some of the co-workers rose from their seats to Instagram and Vine the moment.

With the pot full, Halvard poured himself a cup. Not even waiting to let the contents cool, he lapped down the richness. The heat should have burned his throat, but he was used to drinking his dark coffee hot so it phased him nonetheless. Pouring another cup for he, he also poured one for Rynn. "If I ever die, I want to come back as the Coffee King," Halvard said sloppily as he drank up. Sometimes it was nice to have a nutcase on the squad. At least he made the morning routine highly amusing.

Purring again, he dragged Rynn out of the break room and toward his desk. "Sir," he said while passing the leader. Finally at his seat, he crashed his head on his desk before looking lazily up at Rynn and the approaching Hatsuharu. "Today's orders, Sir?"

From his vantage point above the others, Yamato easily noticed the odd movements of one agent in particular. He was rather used to it by now, though he would never say it out loud. The other man certainly was an odd one indeed. While he was obsessing over coffee, Yamato placed his hands on the railing before him, finally listening a bit to what the others around him were saying. It seemed there was another incident with the one referred to as the ‘slasher’ on the news. He sighed, today needed to be the day they ended that fool. He closed his eyes for a moment, collecting his thoughts before he heard the voice address him.

The way it was done would have been taken insultingly by others, usually agents stood at attention or saluted, as many now began to do having caught wind of his presence. He didn’t even bat an eye at the agent’s behavior though, but it drew a glare towards the man from many that were around, including some that were by Yamato himself. He glanced at the faces of the crowd below. “Makoto” was the only word that left his lips. “Yes sir” a woman stepped forward immediately. She was his main assistant, one most would go to first before addressing him. A headset on, and a clipboard in her hands, she raised a remote, pointing it at the screen on the other end of the room. A map of the city was pulled up, it was time for briefing.

“Last night, another victim was discovered murdered by the assailant known as the slasher by media” a red dot appeared on the map, designating location. “Who is relatively not important, she follows the typical form of the other victims. Late thirties, brown hair, brown eyes…Typically this would be left for the police to handle, but we have reasoning to believe this murderer is no ordinary human.” This meant he was most likely a Shi. “He is to be found and dealt with by the end of the day, it should be a simple enough task, he is of little risk value at this time.” She glanced at her clipboard, moving onto the next topic at hand. “As usual, continuation for the locations of the Light and Loki’d are near top priority, especially their leaders” she pressed another button, a picture of Yue and of Loki was pulled up on the screen.

Yamato found himself glancing slightly at the agent from before, since it was little secret to him that the leader of Loki’d was in fact his own brother. “They are to both be brought in alive for processing…normally such cases would be considered a kill on sight, but both are very powerful and have valuable information for the agency” she flipped the page on her clipboard, “other than that, continuation of searches for Shi No Ban’nin are to continue, individual missions will be passed out at a later time.” She finished, giving a slight bow before she turned and walked up to stand by Yamato’s side. The room quiet now, though he did not verbally announce it, this was usually the time for any questions or any information to be brought to his attention, before he took to his office.

Smiling to herself Nessa placed her knife back in it's sheath. Her pale green eyes shifted upwards to look upon Loki when he squeezed her shoulder. It was true, she was always welcome to join him and she often took him up on that offer.

A laugh escaped her lips when he pulled her in close and he began rambling on about on of his many dreams. The man did have a knack for using words to create a picture. Grinning she shook her head and followed him out of the room.

Though they weren't a thing, and they never would be, she loved how he showed her off and treated her. Sure she would flirt and tease with him but never beyond that. He was a playboy and Nessa wanted something more for herself. Finally they exited the elevator and were in the office on the ground level. She felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her chest. The white haired beauty loved where she lived but sometimes it bothered her, living underground, hiding all of the time.

Once outside she looked around, taking a deep breath. "Well," she said slowly. "Playing pranks on people sounds quite fun and you know I enjoy that very much, but.." she trailed off and got a wicked gleam in her eyes. "I do so love pissing off those wankers. What do you say love? Let's go find us some agents to play around with." Nessa waggled her eyebrows at Loki and gave him a wink.

There was nothing better than creating utter havoc on those bloody idiots.

Rynn Arokit had found her way to her desk. It was early in the day, but she was always early. Rynn got in early and stayed late, mostly because working during nearly all of her waking hours kept her distracted and busy. It kept her from seeing things as they were. If she worked, she could forget.

Rynn had been with C.R.O.N.O.S. for a while now, and the agency pretty well trusted her. Though her Shi abilities were quite powerful and destructive, the agency knew that Rynn was firmly on their side. In fact, if she got lost in her work, Rynn could almost feel as if she was human again. But she wasn't, and she never could be. She was a Shi No Ban'nin, and that was her destiny.

Since it was still early, Rynn had very little to do. She sat at her desk, playing with a little fireball for a few minutes. Emerald eyes watched the flame dance, oblivious to the people at the desks next to her who feeling a bit disconcerted by the fire. A few minutes later, the young woman stood up and went for a little walk. She couldn't sit still, not at that moment.

Rynn had been walking quite peacefully when someone ran into her. She looked up to meet Halvard's eyes. Of course it would be Halvard. "Hello Halvard...." Rynn said with a bit of a smile. Rynn watched him walked away and counted down silently 3....2...1. Ah yes, there he was, back to ask her to join him to get coffee "Well I'm not doing anything else, so I suppose a valiant quest for coffee would work." A grinned crossed her lips as she began to walk with him.

Of course, Rynn very quickly felt a hand on her ass pulling her forward. Her eyes narrowed a bit at Hal as he did so "Don't pretend that was an accident..." Rynn said with a smirk. Halvard had 'accidentally' grabbed her ass before. Were she a more serious person, she might've been upset, but honestly Rynn just found it to be funny. The redhead continued to follow him until he stopped in his tracks at the sight of new coffee downstairs. Preparing herself to walk slowly towards that pot, Rynn turned around.

It was quite a surprise when Halvard turned far faster than she'd expected and nearly knocked her over "Goddammit Halvard...." Rynn remarked in exasperation, but she wise silence by his comment about it being life her death and couldn't help but laugh. He was a delight at times. Allowing him to grab he arm, Rynn kept pace right next to him. It was amusing how he was holding onto her as if she were his bodyguard, but then again, Shi's in the agency often were body guards.

Soon enough, or perhaps too soon, they reached the break room. Rynn couldn't hold in her laughter as Halvard cuddled with the machine "Careful now Halvard, you don't want to move too fast- the machine might get scared off."she smirked, emerald eyes teasing him lightly.

Watching him pour the coffee, Rynn took hers gratefully. As he mentioned coming back as the coffee king, a bell-like laugh escaped her lips "Well if thats what you want, just make sure coffee has something to do with your death. Should you be selected as a Shi, you just might get coffee powers." Rynn teased, putting the reminder away that she had fire powers because of death by fire. Rynn hadn't told her death story to anyone here, and she wasn't intendingg too any time soon. It was too violent for morning coffee.

Once the coffee bit was over, Rynn followed him back to his desk, sitting on teh edge of it as he crashed his head into it. His eyes looked up at her, much like a puppy. "You're a mess Halvard... perhaps thats why I like you." Rynn grinned. Soon enough, the screen was lit up, everyone stood at attention and they were given orders. Hunt the slasher, hunt the other groups, hunt Shi. Rynn remained in her very proper salute, waiting for further instructions or to be told to return to their work. Rynn was still standing at Halvard's desk, and fully intended to remain there and see what he was up to today once the leader was done speaking to them.

Gunther stared at the ceiling as he laid there in his bed. He had no plans for the day since he had been fired from another job all because of his stupid eye. If only his colored contact hadn’t fell out in front of that customer. A heavy sigh came from him as he turned onto his side, covering his head with the sheet. Right now he had little motivation to get up or do anything really. The male closed his eyes and went back to sleep, but only for a few moments. His sleep was interrupted by loud knocking on his door. Groaning he threw back the covers and got up to answer the door.

“Why do you always do this,” he muttered opening the door to let the man who had saved him long ago in. The man laughed at Gun and slapped him on the back. “Because my boy, you always get sulky when you lose a job, girlfriend or what have you because you’re different.” The man made his way to the kitchen while he spoke. Gun shook his head and closed the door, relocking it. The older male got some coffee started before returning to the living area. “Plus, I want you to be careful. There are a lot of strange things going on and don’t give me some crap about no one would ever hurt you because you would scare them off with one look.” By this time the older man had made himself at home on the couch, waiting for the younger male to get fully awake before continuing the conversation.

Gun grinned slightly. “Why not? It happens all the time.” He grinned slightly as he took a seat in an armchair. “If you’ve come due to the recent murders I already know. You think I should try to help prevent there being another victim right? I’m going to have to decline. My life might be shitty, but I prefer being alive to being dead, at least sometimes anyway.” Before his visitor could say a word he got up and moved into the kitchen to check the coffee. What is that old man thinking? Maybe I’m wrong about him and he wants me dead too… besides it would be way too dangerous for me to try stopping another murder. His thoughts trailed off as he got out two mugs for the coffee.

After the unusual morning events, things sobered up and were far more serious. With coffee in his system, Halvard could slowly feel himself regaining control over his exhausted body. He was very used to the numbing affect that washed over him; it caused his eyes to open and his mind to lose its jitters.

When briefed on the day's course of action, Hal couldn't help but form a grimace at the part about Loki. Oh how he wished it wasn't his brother they were dealing with. Granted, at least Loki was alive, and well at that. Too bad he was a villain and a troublemaker. Still, Hal knew he could shake him and convert him. He just needed time. Thankfully, the organization seemed to understand Loki's importance in the world, hence their desire to keep him alive.

The case of the Slasher didn't really phase him. It was nothing he wanted to worry himself with. However, Rynn, seemed piqued by the news. Perhaps they would go investigate things.

Rubbing the back of his neck, Halvard had a sinking felling something would go down today. The bond of brothers was strong between he and Loki. It was almost as if they could read one another's mind, in a sense. It wasn't a 100-percent certain thing, but Hal liked to believe he could feel the man and second guess his moves. More often than not, Halvard was right on cue.

A chill ran down his spine. His eyes moved toward Rynn. Pushing back his raven black hair, he leaned closer to her. "Loki will make a move today." He wanted to keep this between just the two of them because there was no point in alerting the whole force, especially if his hunch was wrong this time.

Shifting back in his chair, he looked at the markers on the screen. It was odd that they were so far and wide. Often killers had a pattern and, from the looks of it, Slasher didn't seem to have one, aside from looks and age. Unless, Halvard dove for his comm device. He flipped some faces across the screen to see if he could pick up a pattern.

Bingo!

Based on receipts pulled from the victim's past, all of the women had lunch at this one bistro on Twenty-Second and Third Street. His eyes narrowed as he confirmed this across the board.

"Looks like we might catch the Slasher if we send someone to The Corner Bistro." He popped up the receipts on a screen. "All the vics had lunch there. It's the only thing that really ties them altogether, aside from looks." Realizing that the detail on Loki might prove important, he rattled off, "And my gut is telling me that Loki is up to no good. I suggest using extreme caution when out today."

The thing about Loki was that no one really knew what his power was as none of them fully grasped it. None knew it was illusions because there was no proof that it was as such. Furthermore, he often pretended to use electricity, which made them think his power was that of shock. Loki was smart in that sense, always doing his best to throw off the enemy.

With a sigh, Halvard pushed himself from his chair. "Rynn, would you like to join me at the bistro? We'll ask around and see if anyone notices or remembers who our vics ate with."

Yamato sighed slightly, he turned away and began to head towards his office when a sudden allarm began going off within the room. He paused, turning to look at Makoto as she pulled up something on the screen. It was a live footage of the train tracks, where a train had been toppled over upon pulling into the station. She was hacking into survalence footage of the scene. "Sir, it seems an accident at the train tracks on the east side of the city has occured" Makoto reported.

The camera shifted to a small band of three laughing near the train. People from on boared were heard screaming and frightened by the sudden occurence. Yamato narrowed his eyes briefly at the scene from the screen. It seemed the Shi had begun their activities early this morning, but the three were not normal ones from the city. Makoto overheard Hal ask Rynn to accompany him, looking over at the two.

"The slasher will have to wait, meet up with forces at the tracks now, elemiate the threat then you can get to your other tasks" she moved to acompany Yamato. The chief did not look back as he made his way to one of the other halls. He would need to head lower if he was going to reach his office. He would have rather been out in the field, but with his power and stature, it was not a smart idea according to his advisors.

Many did not want him in the field so they could simply ignore the fact that he himself was part of the Shi. They would have rather thought of him as a simple man and let it go at that. A light growl and a nudge to his hand caused him to look down. Cerberus had moved to his side, causing a few of the people around him to take a step back. Makoto stayed by his side though, "they are becoming bolder" she said.

"Then they will merely meet judgement that much faster" was Yamato's simple answer to her statement. They stepped into another elevator, the door closing behind them.

"Scratch that," Halvard instructed. Throwing on his jacket, he strapped his guns into their holsters located around his chest. His badge was placed neatly on his belt and he tugged on a pair of his black gloves. The gloves were to keep his prints off the crime scene, and it was also nice not to have GSR (gun shot residue) on his hands. Not to mention, the week before he managed to scuff his hand up and he didn't want that to happen again.

Giving his hair a good push backwards over his head, he grabbed a few more items, specifically his wallet and keys. Halvard was the proud owner of your stereotypical police SUV. It was large and black with sirens equipped to the top. The license plate also screamed police, as it was short and had the words "police" stamped on the side in small print.

Halvard wasn't following the commander out, but it sure looked like as he exited out the same door as he. Not to mention, he was only a few paces behind the boss and his secretary. Rynn, now at his heels, was gearing up and getting ready for the trip. Flicking his blue eyes back to met her green orbs, he scoffed, "Looks like you might get more action than originally planned."

Their relationship was strictly professional, well at least when he was alert and awake. There was nothing romantic between them because Halvard wasn't that kind of man. He was all work, no love. After all, the fate of the world depended on he and his teammates. If romance worked its way into his life, saving the world and stopping Loki would fall onto the back burner, and that would be problematic. Loki and the Shi were his targets -- the only dreams and goals worth pursuing. Maybe after the rogue Shi were dealt with he could think about a family, but he was already twenty-seven. The odds of settling down soon weren't in his favor.

Within no time, the redhead and raven were in the parking bay. With a quick click on the fob, his vehicle lit up and the engine revved. A quick-start was installed for such timely issues. Pulling himself into the black SUV, he strapped himself into the leather seat behind the wheel. He barely gave Rynn enough time to slip into the car before he was driving forward. As both their doors closed just in the nick of time, the car emerged from the garage and was peeling away on the streets. Lights flashing and siren whaling, the two made their way to the tracks.

"Only three were reported, but let's assume there are more," his eyes remained on the road. Giving the wheel a good yank, the car barreled down a side road. A few people flipped him the bird and he, in return, flipped them right back.

"Gotta love morons," he growled to himself.

As they got reassigned to investigate the train tracks, Rynn sighed to herself. It wasn't all together uncommon for them to send her to the most recent and most dangerous places. Her Shi abilities were perfect for offense, and it made her a very good companion for the agent. She was a field agent through and through, that was certain. It would be a waste to keep someone of her abilities in the office all day. "Yes I suppose scratch that..." she said with a sigh as she geared up for the mission.

Quicker than she'd expected, they were out the door. She had to nearly run to keep pace with Halvard. The coffee seemed to have worked and he was already on his top game. It was interesting how fast his personality changed once he was fully awake. Rynn had grown used to it by now, they'd been working together for quite some time. They made a decent team, so the agency often sent them out together. With Hal's knowledge of Loki's moves and her firepower, it made sense. "Can't complain about action, its what I'm here for." Rynn said with a grin, finally starting to catch up to him.

Quicker than expected, they were in the car. Rynn had barely shut her door before Hal was screeching out of the parking lot. It was going to be a fast-paced day, she could already tell. As someone flicked him off Rynn couldn't help but laugh. Who on earth was dumb enough to flick off the police? Not having time to give them trouble, Hal simply returned the gesture and kept going. She scoffed as he mentioned morons, agreeing with his sarcasm. "Yes you do, people these days have no respect for police vehicles. We have the lights and sirens going and they still thing that have right of way."

Looking over at him, Rynn figured she might as well see what he had gathered about Loki "Do you have any idea what might happen today? It seems to me that with them starting so early with the train, something worse may be coming later in the day. What if the trains a distraction?" Rynn asked, emerald eyes cast over to him. It wasn't an extremely likely scenario, but they'd been getting bold enough that Rynn was getting more suspicious of their actions. Were they even random crimes anymore? Or something far more sinister? Rynn stopped her thoughts in their tracks. It wouldn't do to worry. Right now they just needed to get to the scene.

A cackle came from the fiery male beside her. Loki rather enjoyed the thought of terrorizing his brother. The guy, Halvard, was such a sap. He honestly thought he could convert him to the "light side of the force." But that was just a delusional wish. Loki wouldn't change. Why should he? He was doing what he wanted -- ruling people and making havoc. A civil, moral life hardly seemed worth it. It was dreary and boring and that was not a life worth living. Since his tragic "death," or rather the moment he became a Shi, Loki found life worth living again. It was joyful, bright, and perfect. Mayhem and madness were at his fingertips and he could command with ease.

Smiling, he looped an arm around Nessa once again. "Yes, let's." With that, he skipped forward, twirling only once to glance back at his partner in crime. "Hop to it, love. We've a life to ruin!"

The thing about Loki is that he was scheming. He had an idea underway. It would be fun, too. The C.R.O.N.O.S. wouldn't know what hit them. They would never see it coming either. To them, Loki was a master of electricity, not illusions. So when he took on the face and form of another and slipped behind the lines of C.R.O.N.O.S., well, they wouldn't know. It was the end goal, the end game. To get inside the organization would allow him to know the moves of the officers. It would allow him to avoid issues or rather, cause them.

Loki had been looking at impersonating a new recruit. He knew one was going to join shortly as he had been following the paper trail. He would kill the poor sap and take over as him. He could hold the illusion and with ease, too. He would have another, a male of his choosing, serve as his double. With Loki undercover as a cop, his double would disguise himself as Loki. This fake Loki would call the shots, for a while. The goal was to get the impostor Loki caught. He would be questioned and pried into until he revealed everything. But that would all be a lie. And C.R.O.N.O.S. would discover this. Then, upon discovering this, they would fall right into his trap. He would hit them so hard!

Grinning ear to ear, he looked at his trusted comrade, Nessa. She knew the plan but only bits and pieces of it. He didn't want too many to know as they might leak the truth, mistakenly.

"By the end of the week," he spoke aloud to himself, "I want to initiate phase one."

Yue leaned against a nearby wall. He had both Loki and the female he was with in his sights. It was slightly ammusing how the other seemed to think he was aware of everything, and yet he had yet to even notice him so close to his base. He knew the other was up to something, which was part of the reason he was here. His goal was to speak with Loki, but part of it was going to be separating him for a bit from that woman. It would no doubt be more of a threat as well as a problem getting him to listen with her whispering in his ear.

His phone rang after a moment however, slipping his hand into his pocket he slipped it out. It was one of his men, allerting him to the presence of trouble as well as C.R.O.N.O.S down by the train tracks. One of which was Loki's own brother. So, more of the Shi were using their powers for their own gain or for fun. They wern't Loki's he knew that, which ment they were most likely rogue. He could slip away now unnoticed and go to speak with them, but with C.R.O.N.O.S there, he would be placing himself in danger either way.

A slight sigh escaped from his lips, on top of all of this, there was the case of this foolish Slasher moving around the city. Everywhere he seemed to turn, there was a matter he needed to look into and take care of. He was putting himself out there on the line a lot. He had yet to slip up, but that did not mean there were not plenty of those who would have loved to see this happen. This was no different, he replied for his men to keep an eye on the situation, while he handled buisiness here for the moment. If things got out of hand however, he would need to depart. Something did feel off though, part of him wondered if Loki noticed this, there was a difference in the air today, something was coming.

A grin escaped her lips as she watched Loki. Today was going to be a very fun day she just knew it. Something was in the air, she could feel it in her bones. Laughing Nessa shook her head and followed after Loki. Yes they better hop to it, they needed to get the ball roaming.

Hearing that by the end of the week he wanted phase one initiated, she raised her head up to look at him. She knew bits and pieces of this plan, but not many. At first she had been a bit taken back that he wouldn't tell her everything but then she understood why. It was never good to have anyone know everything until it was ready and information couldn't be leaked. Still, she wasn't to sure about her part in it.

"From what I know I think that should be cake. But, I'm a little confused as to what my part in this plan is." Her British accent was thick as she wasn't paying attention to toning it down. What was her part in all of this?

All Nessa wanted was to shove it to C.R.O.N.O.S. Gods how she hated the organization. If she were to join them she would be little more than a pet for them to play with and use. She would never let that happen to herself. At least with Loki he respected her.

An announcement came over the intercoms about the trouble at the train tracks not to far from the school. They were continuing with their day, but the school was being placed on allert just in case something happened. Yuki thought about the warning he had gotten from the voices that morning, telling him to avoid the tracks. It seemed they had been right after all. He glanced down at his desk, where red words began to scrawl themselves over the surface.

It was ment to happen.

He sighed slighthly, picking up his pencil. 'Who is it?' he wrote on his notebook, barley listening now to the teacher standing before the room. The words in red slowly vanished, before others appeared.

Others like you. Those who choose to use their powers in darkness.

It was certain, there were others out there like him, not all of them good. His eyes moved to the window a bit, but even there the voices met his eyes. Red writing moving over the glass.

He is there, the watcher of Death.

The watcher of death? What did that mean? He was going to ask, before the sound of the teacher calling on him registered to him finally. Some of the students snickering as he blinked a bit, slightly turning red. He really needed to pay more attention. He stood as directed, reading the next passage within the textbook he was asked to. He hated talking in front of people, it was awkward and he could hear the nerves a bit within his voice. His mind was still on the others like him. He could sense them, did that mean there was some way for them to know about him as well? If they did, what would they do...what if it was some of the bad ones who found out about him? He was worried, slightly more about his mother. He did not wish to put her in the middle of all of this.

She had no idea about Yuki or others like him. He could never put her in a situation like that. Taking a breath he finished, slowly sitting back down as the teacher continued. He needed to find out what was going on. He knew it was dangerous, but sitting around was getting him nowhere. He couldn't just ditch school though, and what if this put his life at risk? He raised his hand, before he could stop himself. Asking to go to the nurse, he grabbed his bag before going. He ignored flashes of red writing on the walls, telling him to stay. In the infirmary, the nurse did the usual taking his temp. He had a slight fever, but he got them off and on, it wasn't unusual. It was the excuse he needed though to get out of there. The nurse was a bit worried though, with what was going on at the tracks. He assured her that he would hurry home safely, ignoring the red word behind her on the wall that said..

Lie.

He knew it was a lie, but he could feel something drawing him to the tracks a bit, taking a breath, he picked up his bag and stepped out. He avoided others within the school, slipping out into the sunlight. His stomach doing flip flops as he turned in the direction of the tracks.

The morning was going pretty much like normal. The man who had found him and saved him long ago trying to get him to go out and use his powers to save people. The same people who at the very sight of his red eye would scream, calling him demon, devil and other names. The male felt no need to help such people, but there were times when his old kind nature would resurface. Now just happened to be one of those times. Gunther had decide to go out for a bit to get some fresh air and clear his mind. Little did he know that he was going to be running into trouble.

When the train accident happened he was walking near the tracks. Closing his eyes he tried to ignore and shut out the screams of pain and for help. He cursed at himself as he gave in and ran towards the tracks. These feelings needed to just disappear, they only got in the way. Moving quickly he pulled out a small boy from the wreckage. The boy had been severally injured. Gun picked up the boy and took him to a safer place then sat him down on the ground. “Everything will be ok, so just stay still.” He gave the young boy a reassuring smile and held his hands over the boy’s injuries. Concentrating he began to heal the small boy. He only hoped that no one would see what he was doing.
