Such an awesome day it was yesterday. I found a book hidden at the stairs of the trainstation with a paper message from a group that translates as the 'book hunters'. "I am a book that is left behind. If you find me, you can read me or hide me again for someone else to read."
And inside the book: "I am a wandering book. I tranverse the world, looking for people that want to read me. Have you read me, please leave me behind again and leave a message for the next person."

I love how in some parts of cities there are this awesome initiatives to aim for more social cohesion and sustainability. For example this form of informal exchange economies.

Have you guys have any other examples of this in your own country/city?
Another example is that some cities work with this special 'currency' which is earned by doing chores for your neighbour, borrowing a tool, or stuff like that. And people can exchange this currency, which doesn't exist irl, to do exchange of social services :)

I can't think of anything like that that i personally have seen. But "wreck this journal" and other such books has fun community stuff that it has you can do. Like hanging it in public to be a public art spot. There's the whole mail this to someone in another state/country and see how far it gets in a year thing. Hmmmm let's see... I know there's another one but i'm drawing a blank at the moment. I would love to do the book thing though. that seems fun.

I love my "Wreck this journal" . I actually bought more than one because it was fun.

Here we have the Kindness Project, which is people painting rocks then hiding them for people to find. There's a Facebook page that you can post pictures of the rocks on and a label you put on the back of the rock with the facebook page on it. I painted a bunch of rocks and hid them around town. It's a huge thing here and it keeps growing.

Geocaching is also growing here and the number of caches is increasing.

Geocaching is basically using a GPS to find containers that at minimum normally contain a log to sign. You can go on Geocaching.com and it gives a better explanation of what it is. It's like a treasure hunt.

It's a lot of fun! Some people get really creative with it and it's interesting to see what they come up with sometimes.

I signed up for that website like a decade ago but never actually looked myself for one of these geocaches. Maybe someday if my friends are interested, we'll go look for some

Ooh. My sister in law actually found one by accident on their wedding day! Definitely a sign!
