Name: Sacha
Age: 23ish
Occupation: Assassin
Weapon: a single thin blade that is normally pressed against his forearm and attached with straps, but can retract out over the wrist.
Appearance:

With long limbs and a leanly toned body, he stands about 5'11" tall. His sleek black hair falls to mid-back when down, but more often than not, he wears it tied up high on his head. In certain lights it can appear almost purpleish in tone, but still undoubtedly black. His eyes are bright blue and framed by short, stubby lashes. Clothes are tight fitting and black except for the long buttoned jacket he wears over top. He has a strap on his right arm (inside the jacket) for his blade and also a few faint scars on his back and arms.
Personality: Very duty bound and loyal, he does his job because it's all he knows and he accepts it. Rarely smiles because he has no reason for it. He prefers to be alone and is kind hearted despite his job. He has a history of punishing himself in order to repent for his sins and acts protectively, even if that in itself is sometimes cruel. Often, he's just going through the motions of life though, appearing dead inside.

---------------------------------

Quote:
Turning, Sacha clicked the release on his blade, not bothering to wipe it clean before it slid beneath his jacket sleeve. He couldn’t stand to look back though every part of his body knew what lay behind him, his senses oppressing him with the knowledge. So, without a single glance of regret, he hurried for the town’s front gates before anyone saw what he had done.

Out in the open fields surrounded on one side by woods, cold wind tore at Sacha's close fitting clothes. Though he wore a long coat as well, it did little to keep the sudden blizzard out. Not long after the town disappeared from his view did the sun begin to drop beneath the horizon and with it, snow rushed in. Strands of his long black hair pulled loose from the tie, getting caught in the freezing blood on his cheek. The smell reminded him of reality all too much. Pressing a hand to his ear for a second, he tried to drown out the pounding going on inside his head. It smelled! Damn, he felt like he might throw up. The blood wasn't his of course. That at least gave him some comfort. The storm only got worse though and he was far from the city and no one in the area would help him anyway, even if he turned back and sought shelter in the town he had come from.

The snow thickened, falling faster and faster around Sacha until he struggled to see even the line of trees not far away. He forced himself forward though, not even sure why he bothered. Except perhaps, what else would he do? Something caught his foot however and he pitched forward, plowing into the quickly gathering blanket of snow. Blinking his eyes, he caught sight of a flash of red and green. The sapling tree grew alone outside the edge of the forest and Sacha couldn’t help but think that it somehow got caught in the storm as well.

"Shall we brave the storm together?" he asked as he unbuttoned his coat to swing it around where it created a tent with the plant between him and the coat. Honestly, he didn't know why he did something like this. He was a strong man and capable of surviving a blizzard if need be, but he felt he couldn't do that right now. In reality, he knew exactly why he was protecting something as insignificant as a sapling. He was punishing himself. After a kill, he always felt hateful toward himself, but today it was especially bad. There had been a child and now that child's blood was on his hands. This was his job though, even if he hated the act of killing, he was a killer for hire. He hated it, but it was the only way of life he knew. So if he punished himself from time to time, it wasn't a big deal.

Acernis' heart beat hard against his chest. His eyes darted maniacally to and fro, desperate to locate some familiar sight. He pressed his hand lightly against a large pine and closed his four eyes ans spoke, His voice was a soft flutter, almost like a summer breeze through tree leaves. He waited a moment, struggling to understand what the tree was telling him. It was a warning, but in a language he wasn't all too familiar with.

His plea was cut off by a sudden blast of cold air. The red leaves atop Acernis' head shook violently. He needed to seek shelter at once. In the distance, he could make out what seemed to be a city, but the alienness of its appearance made him hesitate. Should he risk staying himself has a firm maple and have his limbs weighed down by the heavy snowfall already starting to fall; or should he venture towards an unknown city in hopes of finding someone who might help him understand where he was. His eyes lingered on the city as he contemplated his decision. This hesitation would prove to be a great blunder.

Without warning, Acernis was knocked forward by an immensely powerful gust of wind and snow. The choice was made, he needed to get out of the storm. Acernis quickly lifted himself up, his frame now only three feet tall, and ran for his life. His arms flailed at his side as he fumbled over roots and rocks. The snow storm began to gain more strength and it was soon too much for him. He gave a final two steps towards the far away city before collapsing into the growing bed of snow.

Acernis shivered, unable to contain any body heat in his rapidly diminishing state. He squeeze his eyes shut and curled into a tight ball before violently extending all extremities. He gave a harsh, grunted cry as his legs stiffened and fused together. His arms stretched out as far as they could go, forming into brittle branches. He head slowly morphed into his own torso until it was all one connected trunk. Acernis' tiny sapling branches quivered in the wind, his thin trunk swaying and curving to the point of pain. In his sapling form, Acernis was at the mercy of nature. All he could do was pray to the sun that he might survive the storm.

The snow continued to pile down upon Sacha's crouched form. He knew he couldn't continue on in search of shelter. He would have to huddle here and hope for the best. Besides, if he left the sapling now that he'd already decided to protect it, he would never forgive himself. His name meant 'defender'. Such a laughable thought that in any other situation he would snort out loud, but he wanted it make the name true just once. So, as the blizzard rushed around him, he tried to huddle closer to the plant that offered him no real warmth. His entire back felt iced with the coat draped over his arms and legs instead, trying to keep the snow off...was it a maple tree? No, he really didn't know plants well enough to say.

As the blizzard kept raging on, Sacha slumped further toward the ground. Until it ended, he refused to give up, but, already it was so hard. How long had it been? Time turned so hazy and the snow white world looked the same in every direction. It never changed, just lost its hold on him. He even stopped feeling cold. Was that bad? Still, he just huddled there until the snow began to lessen, turning into flurries somewhere in the middle of the night. He already long since stopped noticing the rate of the snow's fall. "I'll protect you. I promise I'll...." he managed to whisper, not even sure what was real anymore.

Finally, the blizzard wound its way to the end. Even though he'd long since stopped noticing it, Sacha's body relaxed the second that the last snowflake fell. And just like that, he let himself slid to the ground, his coat still half draped over the sapling plant. The darkness that met him was welcome.

Acernis braced himself against the cold snow and started to succumb to the possibility that he would not survive the freeze. He had just about given up all hope when a sudden warmth enveloped him. Had he the ability to look around, he would have seen a strange creature bent over his small stature, cloaking the two of them with a warm coat. Acernis twitched his branches in delight. The warmth seemed to come with some sort of energy that was driving him insane. The kind being that had save him stayed until the storm was over, collapsing a mere few inches from the tiny sapling.

As the last snowflakes began to fall, so did the eyes of the creature near Acernis. Soon, it was asleep, weary with the exhaustion of holding a cloak for so long. The coat that had saved Acernis slowly cascaded off his tiny branches and he was left partially exposed. The sudden cool are was an unwelcome shock that forced the tiny sapling into his plantoid form. Acerins wrapped his arms around himself, grasping at both his elbows tightly to retain whatever heat he had left and quickly scrabbled under the coat once more.

No longer a tiny sapling, the coat did little to cover his entire body, let alone that of his rescuer and himself together. Acernis lifted the cloth just enough to study the face of the one who saved him. Immediately, he was greeted with that powerful energy. Excited, Acernis pulled the coat completely off the slumbering creature and rubbed it against his face, desperate for more. He let out a soft giggle of delight that was quickly extinguished when he realized the coat had no more special properties than dead leaves. Frustrated, Acernis threw the coat onto the blanket of snow and examined his rescuer once more. He drew his face closer so that it was mere inches from the creature's. Whatever the energy was, it was coming from him. More specifically, from his breath. Every exhale was coated with an intoxicating elixir that Acernis could not get enough of. He brought himself even closer, desperate for more of whatever the chemical was. The leaves at the top of his head perked up in ecstasy, and he let out a soft moan of delight as he closed his four eyes.

Sacha could feel the cold even in his dream. His body trembled with it. Though he hadn't quite fallen into a deep sleep, he also could not pull himself into consciousness either. This time, he really screwed up didn't he? Somewhere in the half sleep he wallowed in, he felt an unexpected warmth. He wanted to pull away from it because it terrified him, but the feeling was close and he couldn't help but shift closer. Even if the warmth meant he could no longer feel the actual cold, he wanted to be near it.

It...what exactly was it? He shouldn't let himself fall asleep like this because who knew if he would wake up. So, Sacha struggled. Maybe it was the weird sense he garnered that he wasn't alone. Something that came to him even without vision or sound or whatever else his waking mind might notice. After a second, he forced his eyes open, blinking them multiple times without fully focusing on what sat in front of him. Green...and red...?

After a second, the image sharpened slightly. It didn't make sense though. Did he look at a plant or a human? "W..what?" Voice unsteady, he blinked his eyes again. "Am I dreaming?" The snow didn't matter for a second. Right now, only this strange thing that couldn't exist mattered.

Acernis grew startled at the sudden movement of the being in front of him. He jump a half step back, but kept his eyes firmly glued on his rescuer. He asked, his curiosity increasing. He lifted hand and held it up, palm facing the man. He closed his eyes and concentrated, trying to speak to him like he spoke to the trees in the forest. His hand gave off a soft warmth that slightly rippled the air and make the leaves on his head stand.

Acernis pushed his hand closer and exerted more heat. The palm of his hand was glowing almost red hot. The cold air around him was rapidly heating and causing steam to rise. He closed his eyes tighter, concentrating harder, but he could not find the signals he was looking for. His hand was now mere inches from his rescuer's skin. Just as he was about to touch him, Acernis withdrew his hand. He asked once more. His head tilted in confusion.

Sacha's brow furrowed even as he felt his body struggling to tense. As much as he wanted to pull away or reach for his blade though, his arms and legs gave up on their motions halfway. The cold continued to bite, but at least it felt cold. Ah, no. He really needed to move or he wouldn't be able to move at all anymore. Frostbite worked that way didn't it? Leaning away, he felt his heart rate jump as the strange plant-creature spoke.

"Wh-what are you doing?!" he hissed. He could feel heat from the palm of this creature. Otherwise, he would be very sure he dreamed this entire thing. Maybe he still was, but as the creature almost touched his face, he snapped his head away, avoiding the touch as if it was a very real thing. The creature seemed to think the same thing and pulled away itself, mumbling words that weren't words at all. Blinking, Sacha managed a grunt and shifted away again. This was still a dream though right? It had to be.

After another second, Sacha forced himself onto his knees, intent on getting away. If the plant-creature really as just a dream, then it didn't matter. The thought of the sapling he weathered the storm with vanished from his mind. He didn't realize he couldn't see it now. He only wanted to get moving. One foot, then another. He struggled though and the fresh snow only made it harder. Damn, why did it have to be so cold?
