Mene is much quieter after the Holidays

Well at least it's one less thing to distract me while I'm studying, haha. Man, I missed this place and how laid back it is. :3

It's pretty dead most of the time these days without an event to keep people here. ;;

It's okay, it's why there are west coast night owls like me to stick around >:)

Truth be told: I've been brainstorming ways to try and get Mene back on people's radars. Maybe different games or updates to the site. I figure that I've been studying programming for long enough that I should try and do something for my portfolio. Honestly if the admins are cool with it I'd love to do something using the art assets...

That would be amazing. It'll depend on whether Inso accepts the help or not though, and I'm not sure who can even find him these days. :(

As much as I'd love to help you with ideas and stuff for that, I don't think there's much that can be done.

Yeah.. still pretty grim. Shion made a great post about avatar communities in that GD thread. I give her a lot of props for trying to move the genre forward.

Yeah it's a damn shame though. I guess I'm old but I prefer the avatar sites.

I don't even think it's just the stuff that she's pointed out.

I think part of it might have to do with the abundance of mobile phones now too. Forums aren't great on phones. Mene in particular is bad for it. But even then, forums as a whole are dying and it makes me sad.

Yeah, I like forums a lot. Used to post on a few of them, but it's true there's less and less of them around it seems.

Yeah, that's the point I was trying to make in that thread too. Most people only visit a handful of websites, and everything else is done through apps. The internet has become a really closed-off space for most people.
Reddit killed off special-interest forums- I would know, I sub to a different subreddit for all of my hobbies.

@ Antagonist: Same. I can't think of any dress-up site that really matches the depth of an avatar site in terms of it's work-reward structure/feedback loop.

I'm more of a PC person than a phone person, so I rarely use my phone for anything else other than messaging and phone calls, so using forums has never been a bother for me, but I can see how most people would find it troublesome to navigate.

If avatar forums are ever gone I'm going to miss them a lot.


And lol yes I'm trying to come up with something spooky and mostly failing at it. ;;

I need those items that give me the background of a staircase...I'm trying to look like a ghost haunting an abandoned place but I'm not sure if the ballroom suits him or not. XD;;

One of the other draws of forums is anonymity. Which kinda doesn't really exist any more.

I'll definitely be missing the anonymity.

I already do. It's kind of strange to live in the age where anonymity was a must to begin with, but over time it's just disappeared. I can't even put my finger on when exactly it happened either.
