Within this realm sits a tavern, the Dusklight Tavern. It is a building that is connected to all realms, though it is only accessible once dusk falls, no matter the realm. Leaving Dusklight should be easier than finding it. Should be. Dusklight is in perpetual dusk, and thus the connection to the other realms is never broken, however plenty of creatures have found themselves trapped within Dusklight. Unable to cross through the borders between realms to return home. The doorways do not hide, one can often find them easily, but crossing them sometimes is a very difficult, very impossible thing to do.

Dusklight Tavern is situated in the center of the Shadowlight Forest, and it is within this forest that the doorways to other realms rest. Some may be pools of shadowy water, or a tree, perhaps even a tiny rock. The doorways aren't hidden, not really. They each give off their own special aura around them. Dusklight, for some realms, is used to exile. Exiles are often sent through into Dusklight, and from there they can pick any other realm to escape to, assuming that they are able to slip through the borders, to leave Dusklight.

Not many know of this realms existence though. A select few rulers, and a number of people from various places that have stumbled upon it by accident know, but often they can never find their way back once they have left. Some realms tell horror stories of a place called the realm of Shadows, most of those stories were made from sliver of truths about Dusklight, to frighten people into better behavior. That isn't to say Dusklight is a safe environment, many creatures dwell within the Shadowlight Forest, creatures of violence and limited intelligence, and even a single dragon seems to lurk about at times. The forest is dangerous, full of wild and vicious creatures, but they all seem to stay away from the tavern. As if kept back by some spell or perhaps the fear of something else.

Kurako sat in the Dusklight Tavern, a corner table, his chair situated so he could see the whole room. The shadows of the corner and the shadows of his hood kept his face hidden from view, his clothing was a mix of elven and human finery, though to most humans it seemed very elvish, and to most elves it seemed very humanish. The half elf didn't mind being mistaken for one or the other. He kept his hood up to hide his heritage, and the hide the black markings on his face. On the table stood a crystalline figurine, carved into the shape of a unicorn. The figurine itself emitted the aura of a unicorn, as if this figurine had been made from some part of one of the sacred equines. It had, the figurine was carved from a unicorn's horn. A crystal horn from the most sacred of unicorns. A crystal unicorn.

His gloved hand hovered over the figurine, the tip of one finger lightly touching the horn of the figurine. It's magic had not worked, it had coursed through his body, wracking him with nearly unbearable pain, but the unicorn magic, the strongest of unicorn magic, could not purify him. Perhaps a living crystal unicorn could have purified him, but the magic essence that lingered within this figure, though stronger than any other magical artifact he had thus found, was not enough. There was a slight frown on his lips, his lavender eyes focused solely on the figure that his finger rested on. Thinking.

It was probably dangerous to have such a thing out in the open like this, if someone entered that could sense or feel auras, they would undoubtedly have an idea of what Kurako possessed, there was also the fact that someone might just be interested in having the figurine solely based on how pretty it was, how valuable it looked. The half elf had half a mind to just hand it over to the first person that asked about it, but he wouldn't. He had gone to a realm where unicorn's were said to be extinct, to find this. He found a living unicorn, but that sweet creature could not help him either, Kurako had fought the darkness within him, demons, devils and all manner of beings to get this crystalline figure.

But it's magic could not save him.

Now Kurako sat in the realm between realms and contemplated his next course of action, the point and purpose of his cursed life.

The splashing of footsteps barely echoes over the roaring downpour. A cloaked figure runs as fast as it can, struggling in the darkness of the night. The figure is raggedly panting, as if they are trying to escape from something. A flash of lightning reveals the figure's small, feminine frame and curves.

"You can't get away!" a gruff, strained voice echoes from behind the figure as an armored man chases after, muffled clanks and splashes in his wake.

'Must get away... Must escape... Can't be right on me still, can he?' echoes through her head, as fearful curiosity overtakes her.

She glances back at her pursuer, and lets out a rough gasp as her foot slips from under her. Her hand manages to find something to keep herself from falling flat into the muddy ground.

As she takes off, she feels a hand grab at her arm. "Gotcha--!" he says as his hand wraps around her wrist. She powers forward as his grip -- and his footing -- slips and leaves him to a muddy splash. "Urgh! Get back here!!" he yells as he tries and fails to stand up.

Many wet steps behind her, she barely manages to hold herself up against a tree as she stops to catch her breath. Glancing back, she slumps into the tree more. The man is still far behind, somewhere in the darkness behind her.

As she slumps fully against the tree, she seems to pass through -- more so falling into -- the tree. With a breathless gasp, everything goes black.

----

Somewhere, in the forest surrounding the tavern, her muddy form appears slumped at the base of a tree. Muscles aching, lungs burning, she tries to look around before exhaustion overtakes her.

"...Did...I...get...away...?" she manages to choke out between breaths as she takes in the surroundings, eyelids heavy as darkness overtakes her again.

Something had popped out of a portal, just as he was passing by on his way back to the tavern. A large sack hanging against the back of his cloak, wet and dripping fresh blood from the bottom. The scent of raw, fresh meat hung around this figure. His eyes were a glowing amber, the pupils rather reptilian in nature, and he approached the apparent female.

Six foot tall, he squatted down to get a better look at the female. Silver bangles clinked together softly as he reached out with his right hand to give her shoulder a shake. He was clad in rather strange clothing, a one sleeved tight top that left most of his torso exposed. The one sleeve was long and covered his entire left arm. The rest of him was adorned in a long black harem skirt with slits all the way up both sides. A thick belt was cinched somewhat tight around his waist, silver chains dangling from it as decoration.

His feet were bare, a silver bangle encircled each ankle, and his only protection from the elements seemed to be the long cloak he wore. As his hand touched her shoulder, the heat from his body could be felt rather easily, as it exceeded the normal temperature of most creatures. As if there were an inner fire burning within him. Patiently he would wait and see if the girl awoke, if she didn't, then he would simply carry her to the tavern himself.

He couldn't in good conscience leave her out here, there were dangerous creatures lurking in the Shadowlight.

(( I needs to get a picture of her. Also, cloaks everywhere! :3 ))

Cold and wetness met his hand when he touched her. The tattered cloak and thick, grey cloth shirt was clinging to her and still soaked. The black skirt and long boots she wore was stained with mud and clay and matted with leaves here or there.

Her face wasn't hidden by her hood, having slipped back at some point during her 'fall' through the darkness. Messy black, shoulder-length hair framed her calm, sleeping face. A set of pointed animal ears covered with short black fur, which would be easier to notice if it wasn't for the messy hair, rest upon her head. They seemed to twitch ever so slightly at the sounds of his bangles.

Despite the stranger's warm touch, it seemed to have little effect in the way of waking her. She seemed too far into her exhaustion to be stirred by anything short of a world cataclysm.

He let his hand rest on her shoulder a moment longer, she was soaking wet and dirty. It made him grimace slightly, she was probably at risk of catching a cold if she remained in such soaked garments for an extended period of time. There was a slight hint of annoyance in his features as he withdrew his hand, readjusted the bag over his shoulder, then picked the girl up.

Animal ears twitched slightly atop her head, but her hair was so matted around them that he wasn't quite sure what type of animal they were, but it didn't really matter, all manner of creature found their way to this realm between realms. He lifted her almost effortlessly, in that classic princess style with an arm supporting her back and one under her knees. Letting her head rest against his right shoulder.

If she stirred now, it wouldn't matter, he had no intention of putting her down until he reached the tavern. It wasn't too far, and he was confident that the body heat that emitted from him would help keep her warm, even in her soaked clothing. He held to the girl firmly but gently as he began to move towards the tavern.

She softly mewled in her sleep as the feeling of warmth started to envelop her. The flat line of her lips ever so gently curls up into a smile as she seems to enjoy the feeling. Naturally, her body shifted ever so sligthly in his arms to feel more of it, especially with the cold that clinged tightly to her pale skin.

It was only a short moment of being carried in the warmth before she started to stirr, icy blue eyes sleepily opening to take in the world around her again. And then the unmistakable smell of fresh meat assaulted her nose. Her heavy-lidded eyes roamed about, looking for the source of the scent. Finally, here eyes locked onto the cloaked man who was carrying her.

Her eyes snapped wide open as she began to panic. Despite how tired and aching her body was, she attempted to escape. But the attempt was weak. Her strength wasn't behind her pushes and the warmth, even from this stranger, was hard for her cold form to resist.

There were sounds at the edges of the path he took, the path itself was barely discernible but it was there. Hungry things watched them pass from the shadows, glowing red eyes, glowering and angry. Whatever the creatures were, and there were several different ones, did not seem too inclined to approach closer to this tall being and the girl he carried. Despite the alluring scent of raw meat that emitted from the sack on his bag.

The male seemed rather unconcerned with these creatures, and barely glanced in their directions. They knew what he was, and he knew what they were. Hunger and rage drove most of them, and sometimes they would foolishly attack him, but for now they seemed to only want to watch. He grit his teeth just slightly as the girl began to stir in his arms, shifting her just slightly for a more comfortable grip.

He said nothing to her, merely looked down at her face and gave the slightest of smiles. They were nearly there. Something stepped onto the path behind him, a lumbering, large creature. The man didn't look over his shoulder at it, for he had already stepped within the boundary of the Tavern's property. The creatures of the Shadowlight could not approach so close to the building.

An ancient magic held them at bay, protected the building and those lucky enough to find their way to it. The slight smile turned to a smirk, he felt the magic settle over him, most couldn't feel it, but the particularly sensitive could. It was like a gentle blanket fell over him, enveloping him in a protective embrace and he welcomed it, as he always did. This was his home.

They had approached the back of the building, and it still took a few minutes more of walking to actually reach the establishment. The door was unlocked, and he pushed it open easy enough to reveal a large room. This was the storage room at the back of the tavern, another doorway was across from them. That doorway led to the kitchen, and beyond that was the area behind the bar and the rest of the tavern.

A large man, a half-orc was rummaging around in the storage room, he stopped and turned when that door had opened. For the briefest of moments the tall man held the girl easily with only one arm as he removed the sack and his cloak with the other. The sack was given to the half-orc and the two spoke to each other in orcish for a brief moment and then both arms were around the girl again.

Out of the storage room, through the kitchen, into the bar area of the main tavern area, and then past the bar. He carried the girl over to a table that was half covered in shadow, a slender male with a hood hiding his face already sat there. The girl was placed in the chair closest him. The two spoke in elvish for a few moments, then the man that had carried the girl turned to her and smiled softly. "Some stew is being prepared for you, my friend here will look after you until you feel you're strong enough to handle yourself. Careful though, kitten, this is a dangerous land you've wandered in to." He went back the way he had come, disappearing off into the kitchen.

Despite her faint, failed attempt to escape, she realized he didn't seem to pay her much mind. There seemed to be no malice in his voiceless hold he had. And the small smile he gave made her own return.

She wanted to speak, to ask him where she was, if he had seen the armored man, and where was he taking her. But something put her at ease even as a smirk crossed his face. He didn't seem like he wanted to harm her, at least not as far as she could tell. His warmth was very welcoming and in stark contrast to the chills from her clothes. It had been a long time since she had been this at ease with anyone. And that was all she needed right now. She silently gave in to his grasp and rested her head against his shoulder once more and closed her eyes.

Before she knew it, the sounds of a door brought her to again. She panicked mentally as she saw the large man. And then she was flustered as the man carrying her moved the arm that held her back. But his grip was strong enough to hold her aloft as he removed a large sack of what smelled of fresh meat from his other shoulder. She was taken by how strong he was, even as the two men started talking to each other.

She wanted to say something, but as soon as she went to open her mouth, he was already in motion, carrying her forward, through the door, a room, and into a bar area. She tensed up as he carried her over to yet another stranger. Before she could grasp his arm or neck or something, she was already placed in the seat closest to the cloaked male.

She sat there, confused at their odd words until she was spoken to.

"Wait..." she replied, reaching a hand out after him. But he had already slipped away. "I don't even..." she started, but trailed off as she looks over the stranger beside her. He wasn't the man chasing her, for that she was thankful. But she had no idea about the man she was sitting beside. Or the man that brought her here, for that matter.

She was starting to panic on the inside. But the man's words stuck with her. He said there would be stew. That this friend of his would look after her. At least until she felt strong enough to handle herself. She sighed and leaned forward, wincing from her soreness as she rests her head on her arms. Wherever this is, at least it wasn't back where she ran from. For that, she was thankful.

Kurako had been deep in contemplative silence, eyes staring at the crystalline unicorn figure in front of him on the table, when someone approached and put a girl in the chair nearest him. A flicker of annoyance passed across his features, becoming quickly replaced with amusement at his friends words. The two spoke a moment in Elvish and then the other was leaving. The crystal figure was picked up with a gloved hand and then the pretty trinket vanished up his sleeve somewhere.

The half elf, face hidden by his hood and the shadows in this corner, turned his attention to the girl that had been set beside him. He studied her, taking in the details of her features. There were animal ears atop her head, and she looked wet, but the air inside the tavern was warm enough. A meal, a bath and fresh clothes was probably all she needed. Talis had asked him to look after her, and Kurako wasn't sure if that was more for his sake or for the girl's sake.

"The man that carried you here is called Talis, and he probably saved your life. You've tumbled through a portal, the realm that sits between all realms." His voice was soft and gentle, and he figured she needed an explanation of sorts. "Some people find this place by accident, some come looking for it, others even get exiled to it." The words were spoken with a slight shrug. "Finding the way out, to the proper realm is much more difficult than finding the way in."

Kurako though, and even Talis, knew where many of the portals were, and where they led to, but there were still countless more that the half-elf and his amber eyed friend had not yet found.

Her ears perked at his words and took them in. Talis. So that's his name, she thought. "I'll have to thank him for that, then," she said as she sits back up a little to look at the man beside her.

"I guess I should tell you my name. I'm Mina," she states as she gives him a warm smile. If this was somewhere that you could only get into through a portal, maybe this would be a safe place to stay for a while. She let out a relieved sigh and stretched a little, immediately finding it a bad idea as her sore muscles made her wince.

----

Elsewhere, an armored man soaked from the downpour gasped out of breath in the dark forest. "She couldn't have gotten away!" he yelled as he punched a tree and growled in pain. He shook his fist in frustration, as if doing so would throw the pain away, while he caught his breath. "Mina. I'll find you. It's no use hiding!" he yells as he starts running again in the muddy forest.

"If you see him again, you can thank him." The words were spoken with a shrug, a slight hint of amusement in his tone and he had nodded slightly when she introduced herself. "I'm called Kurako." He shifted slightly in his seat, not sure what else to say. Talis had practically dumped this person in his lap and left him to deal with it.

Though before he could ponder the circumstance too long, the half-orc barkeep was approaching them. Arms full of stuff, a tray in his hands that he set on the table in front of the girl. On the try was a bowl full of nice hot stew, a pint of ale, a pint of water and a pint of milk. Apparently he wasn't sure which the girl would prefer to drink.

There was also a block of cheese and some apple slices on the side with a large hunk of warm bread. He grunted slightly, over his arm had been draped some clothing. He plopped these in the girl's lap. A cloak, a tunic, breeches, a belt and then some boots which he set down next to her chair. They smelled fresh, and most important of all, they weren't soaking wet like the clothes she was currently wearing.

The half-orc grunted a bit more and then promptly left to return to his duties. Kurako had arched a brow, amusement swirling in his eyes, the expression lost and hidden by the shadows that were over him though. His attention was on Mina.

"I suggest changing out of those wet clothes then, you can use my room." He slid across to her a black wrought iron key. Amusement seemed to hang at the edges of his voice as he spoke. "Up those stairs, and third door on the right. Lock it back up when you're done. The stew should be cool enough, but still warm by the time you're done."

Mina sat up better in her chair as he spoke and listened, ears tilted a little at the hint of mirth. Her eyes began to wander around a little as she tried to think of something else to say. But she was at a loss until the smell of food moving her way caught her attention.

Her stomach practically growled like a predator on the hunt as she watched the half-orc approach with the hearty smell of stew. She barely remembered her last meal, it felt like so long ago. Or so her stomach said. Before she realized it, the tray of food was in front of her and her stomach demanded she pounce on it.

But that was stopped as the man grunted and plopped the assortment of clothes in her lap. Before she could get a good look at the clothes, he had grunted and disappeared almost as fast as Talis had. It finally occurred to her that she was still quite soaked from head to toe, with cold clothes that clung to her skin. Maybe it was the warmth of the place or the whole waking in a stranger's arms and being left in a tavern that kept her from realizing it until now. Her hungry glances at the food and concerned looks at the clothes seemed to telegraph the internal conflict she had. But her mind won.

As soon as she went to ask, Kurako seemed to read her mind. Her eyes widened a little as he slid the key across the table and told her the way to his room. Conflicting thoughts ran through her head as she looked down at the key in silence for a short moment. Then she remembered Talis' words. This friend of his, Kurako, was supposed to take care of her for now. Nothing to worry about, right?

"Thank you, Kurako," she said with a smile as she carefully took the ebon key. She repeated the directions to herself under her breath as she pulled the clothes into her arms and carefully stood up. Soreness reminded her that it was still there, clinging to the muscles she worked so hard before, but she managed to push it aside. Right now, she had to get changed into these clothes. As she made her way to the stairs, she stopped and looked back, eyes fixed on the tray of food. "Shut up, tummy. You'll get your fill soon," she whispered before taking the first step up.

She made her way to the third door on the right and readied the ebon key. She would have thought twice about invading someone's personal space at any other time, but dry clothes and warm food awaited her. Besides, she had permission and the key. She tried to ignore the room and only change, but the mess of books and some valuable looking items strewn about was hard to ignore. Changing only took a moment, with only a few groans and winces slowing her down.

Mina tried to keep from thinking about what she saw before she left. It was his business how he kept his room. It reminded her of her own, honestly. Just with old clothes replacing the books and items. Back then... No. She shook her head in an attempt to shake off the thoughts of the past. She barely remembered to lock the door after she left the room. With damp clothes in hand, she went back downstairs.

Kurako would nod slightly when the girl thanked him, and his lavender eyes watched her carefully as she moved away from him and towards the stairs. There wasn't much for him to do while she changed in his room, except to wonder if maybe he should've tidied up a bit earlier. Still he had no way of knowing that Talis would thrust someone into his care like that. He should've expected such things, it wasn't the first time, nor would it be the last time that Talis brought home a stray.

A few minutes passed, and the half-orc was returning to Kurako's table, a small plate laden with various fruits was placed before the half-elf. Some words were exchanged, and the half-orc turned away chuckling to himself. As he was making his way across the Tavern, Mina caught his eye and the half-orc moved towards her. Meeting her at the bottom of the stairs.

"I'll take care of those and get'em back to ya soon. If'n ya need an'thing else, me name's Brutus. Or ya can bother tha half-elf," As he said that, he nodded towards Kurako, "he prac'ically lives here." His voice was deep, growly and a bit rough. Almost the kind of voice you'd expect from a half-orc creature. There was no malicious intent though, just the tone of one used to doing people's dirty laundry on a daily basis. His arms reaching for the wet clothes in her hands.

If she gave them to him, he would take them with a nod and take them upstairs to some other room, the room where the clothes washing was done, and then he would return to his bar duties. If she didn't give them to him he would just shrug at her and wander back to his bar duties.

Either way, Kurako was sitting at his table, watching the exchange and popping pieces of fruit into his mouth. Brow knitted together in thought, his attention really only half on Mina and Brutus.

Mina reached the bottom of the stairs and started towards the table where Kurako sat, but stopped as she saw the half-orc approach. She gave him a small smile has he spoke to her. "Thank you, for the food and clothes," she said as she handed him her damp clothes. She would have said more, but a low growl from her belly interrupted her thoughts. As he nodded and left her, she went forward to Kurako.

She quickly made her way over and sat in the chair she was in before, and gave Kurako a smile before taking the nearest eating utensil, a fork of all things, and trying to eat the stew. Of course, a fork didn't work so well with the stew, save for the meaty bits. She cursed her hunger only in her thoughts as she swapped the fork for a spoon and began eating in earnest. Mina focused on her meal, eating not only the still warm stew but also taking from the sliced apples, bread, and slices of cheese in no particular order.

After finishing off the last bit of the bowl, she pushed the tray out of her way and leaned forward. She crossed her arms and put her head against it. A good part of her wanted to go to sleep right there after eating such a warm meal. It was hard to control her tail, which she often kept hidden with her cloak. But now it was lazily brushing against the back of the chair.

It had been a while since she was so relaxed. The past few days had kept her tense. The man that was chasing her just wouldn't stop. Always so persistent and always on her heels. Every time she thought she was safe, there he was behind her shouting that there was no escape. She really didn't want to think about that now. It seemed like she was finally free of him. In fact, it was probably impossible for him to find her now.

She finally eyed Kurako, still from her relaxed position. "That was a good meal. Kind of want to nap now," she comments, trying to make some conversation with him. "Haven't had a good one in a while."

Kurako was silent when Mina returned to him, and he let her eat in peace. Finishing off his own bits of fruit rather quickly, though a bit absently. Little less than half watching her as he contemplated some things. The girl seemed so relaxed once she finished her meal and the half-elf smiled slightly as she spoke to him, that smile still hidden by the shadow of his hood, like the rest of his features.

His attention more focused on her now when she spoke to him. "This is a good place for the weary to rest. The safest place in this entire realm between realms." There was the slightest hint of amusement in his voice, laced with a bit of his own weariness. Though Kurako's weariness went past just physical tiredness, he gave the slightest of shrugs and looked towards the bar.

No one was there at the moment, the half-elf had lost track of Brutus for now, but that didn't matter. "I suppose we could get you a room of your own, if you'd like." It was a question, but phrased more like a statement. Kurako didn't mind sharing his room, but he would rather avoid it if at all possible.

She smiled, but otherwise didn't leave her comfortable position. The safest place, huh? It almost sounded too good to be true. But she couldn't argue against it, what with how calm and relaxed she felt.

As soon as the topic of a room came up, her smile dimmed as she sat up again. Mina instinctively checked her sides and then her pockets, patting at them a few times before stopping. "Kurako. What passes as currency here? ...Because I don't think I have any." Her voice hinted at the helplessness she felt. She mentally cursed herself at her lack of any coin. "My coin-pouch is gone, so I couldn't possibly pay for a room," she mumbled as she returned to her once-comfortable pose. Obviously someone would have to pay for the meal, now that she thought of it. There just wasn't any way around that.

She thought back with an annoyed mumble to the last time she remembered having it. It was on her side before the last time that man caught up with her. But she couldn't remember hearing it clink and feel it pat her side when she ran through the rain. Did the latch break again? What did it matter? No coin-pouch meant no coin. And no coin... She sighed at the thoughts in her head.

When she spoke his name, his attention moved to her fully. Head tilting ever so slightly to the side a bit as an amused smile touched his lips, those features still hidden by the shadow of his hood. He seemed very careful in his movements so that whenever he did move his head, that hood did not slip even the tiniest bit.

"Anything. Everything. This is a realm connected to all realms, so they take any and all currency here. If you don't have coin, then they also take trades. A shiny bauble or some such." Amusement touched the edges of his voice. Kurako had plenty of shiny baubles up in his room, for half a heartbeat he wondered if she had taken any. It wouldn't have mattered, they were past magical use and were mostly nothing more than trinkets or gemstones. Useless but not quite worthless.

The half-elf looked towards the bar. Wherever Brutus was, it certainly wasn't behind the bar. It would be easy for the half-elf thief to quickly slip around there and snatch a key for the girl. His head turned, from the bar to Mina next to him. Amusement still laced his voice. "You haven't returned my room key to me."

He reached into the folds of that sleeved cloak he wore, gloved hand reaching for something. After a moment and a little bit of clinking, he withdrew his hand and reached towards Mina with closed fist. He lowered that hand to the table and uncurled his fingers. A small bit of clinking, metal against metal, and when he withdrew his hand there were ten gold coins and five silver coins there on the table before her.

"The silver should be enough for the food, if he even charges you for that, and a gold or two for a room. I doubt he'll charge you for the change of clothing. You can do what you want with the rest."
The amusement had left, and he shrugged a small bit.

She continued to grumble to herself as he spoke to her. She was starting to drift off into her own little world, which was not a good place at the moment. Still, she managed to hear the gist of it, her ears perking up with mention of trades and shiny baubles. She thought back to the room -- Kurako's room -- and the pretty things strewn carelessly about. One of those might of worked as a trade, if they were her's.

Mina sat up abruptly and quickly patted her pockets after mention of the key. Where did she put it? It was quite heavy and easy to find, once she stopped being so frantic about it. She turned a little and pulled it out of it's hiding place in her tunic. "Uh, sorry about that," she said as she put it on the table between them. "I guess I was so hungry I forgot. I did remember to lock the door, though."

She started settling into the same position, arms crossed on the table, as she saw his arms reach out, hand closed. She gave him a curious mewl and look as coins fell from his hand. Is that for me? He -- Kurako, was taking care of me. Talis had said it, and so this nice man was. As he confirmed her thoughts, she smiled and did her best to hold back the purr that was starting.

"I... Thank you, Kurako," she said with joy. Much like her purr, which almost managed to get out of her mental hold as she had to pause her speech, she held back the urge to pounce on him and hug him. It had been a while since she's been treated kindly so openly. It brought back some old feelings from years past that kept her thoughts warm and fuzzy.

Mina seperated out the coins into the amounts Kurako said, five silvers for the food which she left on the tray, two gold which she set aside from the rest for a room, and the rest for... She couldn't think of anything to spend the remaining gold on, save for food for however many days she would be here. Wait. Her thoughts took her full attention as she started to stare off in some direction she didn't pay attention to.

How long would I be here? This place feels safe, not like the places I've been... I think I should be fine here a few days with that much gold, but what after that? If I stay here long, I'll have to do something other than sit in this tavern doing nothing.

She thought for a moment before turning to Kurako. "So, this gold should last a few days, right?" she asked.

Gloved hand moved to deftly pluck the key from the table when she put it down, quickly it vanished within the folds of his clothing. "If you're smart the coin will last a while." His lavender eyed gaze darted around the room for a moment. He was sure no one here would cause any trouble, after all there was barely anyone here.

"If you happen to need more, I'm sure I could find some for you. Then again you could always ask for a job here at the Tavern, depending on how long you plan to stay here." His tone had changed just slightly, a bit of hesitation in those last few words when he spoke of staying. Kurako's tone remained a bit hesitate as he continued. "Not all who enter this realm can find their way back out again, or out to a place they like."

He shifted a bit in his seat, his voice lowering the slightest bit. "I know a few paths, a few realms that I could show to you, if you wish to leave." He had done a lot of exploring. None of it had helped him yet, but something would. There had to be something somewhere.

His voice returned to it's normal tone and volume. "You've plenty of time to decide on what you'll want to do though. No rush. For now you should probably rest a bit. You look exhausted."
