Oh, Balkan style eggplant is like moussaka or baba ganoush. Bulgarians also have an eggplant relish I buy sometimes, but I don't remember the real name of it.

@Algas Soleado:
I did try to explain and my mom has been ok with it she went out and got veggie and fish burgers for me but my step dad doesn't get it. So I've been making a lot of my own food cuz he wants meat at pretty much every dinner

This thread is making me hungry! I have eggplant parm in the fridge for later. It is my favorite food. Also Im not a vegatarian, I just enjoy veggies alot! Like I order veggie subs because normally if i order one with meat, it is more expanesve and after im through with adding what veggies i want i can hardly taste the meat anyway xD I Love veggie subs.

I made baba ganoush from scratch once and that's only because I have so much fun saying it :P

Imam Bialdi is also a fun eggplant dish to say. (Stuffed eggplant) Though not as fun as Baba Ganoush.

@ FireOnix: I know how you feel. In sixth grade, my grandpa didn't believe in ADD or that I had it. People ignore the things they don't want to see.

While we're talking about eggplant, I love to say it in Italian! Melanzana! (Though I hear the slang for it is a bad reference to black people). I'd see it as a compliment though because it's pretty tasty! XD

Oh, I totally missed that about your family FireOnix since I got so carried away with eggplant dishes. Yeah, it'll just be a lot better when you leave home. Most things are just better after leaving home.

Eggplant leftovers don't work too well when it's sliced too thick. :/ any body love mozzarella sticks though? :D

Oh, I could eat mozzarella sticks every day. If only they had the calorie count of celery. They're almost the same size as celery sticks -- isn't that close enough?

I haven't been able to find any vegetarian mozzarella sticks. :(

Anyway, hi! And yay! I've been wanting a veggie hangout to frequent. :)

I had a slow moment and thought of something along the lines of this:

But with zucchini or eggplant or something... Durr.

Okay, I can't stop staring at that photo. It's really fascinating at 2 am. All the details. Like, what's in the bowl? I can't tell ...

That would be a good mascot, for people who like mascots.

Black eyed peas, I think. We have a lot of pictures like that in our school cafeterias. And yay! I am approved! :D

PS. Penguins! Animals carved from vegetables – Boing Boing

Oh that would make sense. The eyes look like black-eyed peas, also.

Eggplant penguins are surprisingly realistic.

I was a macrobiotic vegan for 5 years and a vegetarian for 5 more, but lapsed for a few years. I just picked up being a vegetarian again, but would like to go back to macrobiotics. One thing at a time, though.

For some reason I wanted chicken very badly for dinner *points accusingly at 'what the cluck'* so I got veggie buffalo wings. Wow were those greasy tasting. ._. I remember trying fake chicken before and it just seemed bland. Ah well.
