Wow, those are really pretty!

I'm thinking about attempting a french manicure, but with gray instead of pink. Has anyone ever tried that before/have any opinions on how that might look?

While googling that, I came across this:

Which looks neat, and might even be easier considering I won't have to worry about making the curve match up with the curve of my nail.

That would look great! If you pair the grey with black, instead of white, and do a design accent in silver or gold, it would be so chic!

Black's a little dark for me. I was just looking for something kinda simple and neutral.

I will! I've just got to give my nails some more time. It's been really dry and hot here, so I'm all dried out and the ends of my nails are peely. It's getting humid now though (blessing/curse), so once this peeling grows out, I should be able to paint.

Just found something really interesting... Get old eye shadow, make it into a little pile, add some clear nail polish, then paint nails. Top coat with Esses Matte about you, and you have cool nails!

Has anyone worn patriotic nail art for the Olympics?

I've recently grown obsessed with painting my nails. Which is fantastic, of course! I've had issues with biting my nails my whole life and the only way I can seem to keep myself from doing it is by painting my nails. :] The smooth texture stops me, I think.

I really want to try some of these cute nail designs, but I'm too nervous. I think I need more practice just putting on a single color first. =P I'm embarrassed to be so bad at it, hahaha!

@ Hurricane: The only way to get better is to practice, practice, practice!

*weeps* my nice nail some how ripped all the way across (all of the white tip). I don't know how it happened at all, it wasn't hurting, it was a clean line. I didn't want to cut it off but I knew if I left it, it would have ripped down into the middle of my nail Now it is really short and horrible-feeling.

Connielass: I did some quick Olympic rings inspired nails! Have you done any?
I would do GB nails, but since my favourite nail ripped off, I don't feel like painting them + they wouldn't look too nice.

Aww, that sucks. I hate when my nails break off way down. Especially when it's my thumb or index finger nails, I use those a lot.

I haven't done any on myself, but I've done a few sets on customers. I loved the accent design that swimmer Missy Franklin wore.

I haven't been able to watch at all because we don't have cable or anything like that. I haven't had time anyway, unfortunately.

I downloaded an app on my phone that's supposed to allow you to watch them but it only works on wifi. V_V

A lot of the swimmers/divers have had great nail art! I think there is a nail art salon in the Olympic Village!

Well yeah, it's London. There's bound to be plenty of nail salons in and around the area.

These are the only Olympic-inspired nails I've seen so far:

I said "cable or anything like that." I don't have a television provider of any sort. I don't have access to NBC.

I've been seeing tons of Olympic inspired nail art but they've all sucked. The ones you showed, though, Ziggy, were quite inspired (at least in my opinion).

There are a lot of manicures like that one on Twitter, where you paint along the edge of the nail. I really want to give it a try sometime but I'm afraid it would turn out terribly. V_V

I've never really liked the look of that style. Lining the outside of your nails gives off a very weird impression. For some reason, it just doesn't look healthy to me.

But here are some of the best Olympic/patriotic nails I've seen!

SPOILERX

Some look straight forward enough that I'm sure you could manage the style at home.
