Quite frankly, not to be rude or anything
but Gaia, and the others can
BURN
I have no problem at all donating to this site (sense I'm now back to stay)
The people here are so very nice, even the younger ones.
I don't understand why people are so
"addicted" to Gaia
in the first place. But, to get to the matter at hand What shall we do?

Side Note: I' hate anime. Nice art, but hate it.

Indeed the first step is to not become gaia.....I am all for making money for this site, but we have to do it without losing our heart. You lose the heart of menewsha, and alot of its members will leave......alot of us are here because of its heart.

I know it would probably be costly, but I think that if perhaps Menewsha had some t-shirts or other merchandise we could buy. I think they would go over well. I don't know if Mene is at that state yet. Though I would totally buy5 of those afrodonkey shirts.

In Insomniac's mind, not so much, no. Ads make the pages look ugly. The forums look much cleaner without them, though. And what's the point in putting something up that even if no one blocked the ads wouldn't turn enough of a profit to be worth doing? And we all know a good portion of us would block the ads.

Yeah, The things with ads is that while people will pay a bit to have their ads on here, the way they really make money is by people actually clicking on them and buying things from the site they lead to, they're not going to gain us anything by just being there, partcularly, as CK states, because the majority of us would block them.

That's true. I block ads on all sites, simply because it's safer for my computer.

Oh I didn't know you could block ads. Like just ads shoved in on the page, not blockups right?
Learn something new everyday.

I know that this is a very far-fetched idea, but if they turned the ads or something into an item? Like a logo t-shirt or item? But I guess this is counter-productive, as it would require a pixelist and a lot of time..and money...which is what we are trying to get and such...

Okay bad suggestion. :)

Wynna: I use AdBlock Plus. It's a free add-on for Firefox. I get zero ads, pop-up or otherwise. ^^

Also, the idea of subliminal advertising is not such a bad idea, in my opinion. We already get frequent shop updates, so throwing a sponsor item or two in shouldn't be too difficult, so long as they could find sponsors. It would just be a matter of phasing them in slowly. Nobody wants to be bombarded by tons of sponsored stuff all at once.

I personally would love say, a Dr. Pepper t-shirt, Hello Kitty handbag, or some Converse sneakers for my avatar.

Someone on another avatar site that I won't mention said that Menewsha is losing $50k a year. Is this true or not?

They said that they expect it to close/shut down quite quickly. I hope they aren't true.

Whoops, sorry. So then that person was right.

But will Menewsha still be around for a while or are they right to say it will close soon enough?

No that person wasn't right if you're talking about them saying we're going to shut down.

Sponsored items such as Gaia has are only possible for sites as big as Gaia. Somewhere as small as us would absolutely not be worth anyone's trouble as we do not have a couple of hundred thousand active members to push that sponsored product on.
Got to bear things like that in mind

Well, that person does tend to talk out of his ass and like he knows everything about everything to do with avatar sites.

So, glad to know Mene won't close down for at least a couple more years.

I can't say that i'm not surprised, unfortunately i'm strapped for cash at the moment, i hope to donate sometime soon. I love this site and don't want it to go, same with roliana also. Just nice to have adult conversations, gaia is still a tad on the childish and i panic alot about the fact my items would be stolen one day. But i won't bash up any sites, i stick to only roliana, gaia and menewsha, basically i have friends on these sites and i would be unhappy to lose friends that help me happy over the net. =3

Wow, I had no idea that the avatar sites were doing this bad. Thanks for showing us all what the situation is.
