The darkness was completely suffocating, the girl ran through the street, her bare feet slapping on the cold cobbled street, she held her dress up around her waist something was wrapped up within it. Behind her an amber glow grew closer and brighter she turned down winding lanes between building crumbling and burnt out, blackened timbers rising up from the debris like jagged teeth, still smouldering. Shadows moved swiftly in the darkness, wide eyes peered at her silently hiding. She ran breathlesly panick on her face, the glow drew closer still, angry voices followed it. The young girl turned another corner, her dirty blonde hair falling out from her grey grubby hood. Then her foot slipped in something wet and greasy, something that could just be made out in the gloom as red. She slipped sideways as her legs flew out from beneath her, and rolled scratching her elbows and knees, her dress flailing open, and the precious cargo that she carried so tightly, being strewn across the floor, apples and pears and other wormy rotten fruit rolled everywhere.
"No" she cried out and began to frantically gather up the food. The glow and noises were at the end of the lane now, faces grimacing in hate, men, women holding torches rushing towards her. The girl managed to somehow collect most of the fruit, and was about to stand but she looked up. Surrounding her those angry faces teeth barred, one maliciously smiling drawing closer and closer their faces taking on inhuman features in the flickering of the flames. The people around her snapped at each other like feral dogs, their filthy hands, and unkept nails reaching for her. She closed her eyes, and tried to remember the past, the grass, and even the wind. She could almost feel the heat of the suns warmth, warmer and warmer, and a light breeze on her hair, or was it the flames and someone behind her breathing on her neck? Hands grabbed at her.
Somewhere within the city, a blood curdling scream filled the air.
Tothaza the beacon city of Monaiya, now a prison...
Tothaza until recently was a great city, a beacon to the realm of Monaiya, and the rest of the world. Full of races and creatures from across the known world. But now it is trapped, and everyone in it, in perpetual night. Full of creepy, sinister creatures stalking through the streets.
You will be thrust into this den of madness and despair. And will have somehow survived the initial chaos.
Characters can be extremely varied, Tothaza is a melting pot of all types of peoples and creatures, humans, elves, vampires, warlocks, (and pandas, never say no,to panda) humanoid races all over Monaiya. It is up to you wether you struggle to find a way out of the city, if you do decide that you don't wish to die in the dark and cold, then you may want to find fellow people that wish to escape, or hunt down those that may have the key to,escape.

Back ground and history of Tothaza, and the Monaiya state

The state of Monaiya, has been at war with an invading empire from across the endless ocean, the Karl's the people of Monaiya call them, they have attacked Monaiya for almost half a century now, slowly invading further and further in land pillaging more and more cities. The council of sorcerers that rule the state have struggled to repel the threats. The Karl's seemingly to come from different directions, have different tactics and weapons each time, some almost tribe like with wooden spears and skin shields, others fully armoured warriors on horseback, and even arriving in strange ships with smoke billowing from them, and using strange sticks that shoot flame and metal balls that tear through armour and skin. They appear to have no leadership, just the urge to attack and pillage the cities, rarely targeting the same place twice.
In each major city stands a tower, where the sorcerers direct their authority from, and practice their secretive and strange practices. The greatest of the towers lies within the centre of Tothaza, the greatest city of Monaiya, although not the capital city, it had become the most divers of all Monaiya, and was well known to be the place where the council were to going to defeat the Karl's once and for all. How they would do this was speculation, some people thought they were raising a great army, others a new weapon or magic to defend against the Karl's others thought a great warrior was waiting to lead them to victory.
None would probably find out the truth now... A week and three days ago the Karl's attacked, they must have landed on a deserted coastline, and made their way to Monaiya, although miles inland they had not been seen or detected by any council forces. They attacked the city, murdering burning and taking no prisoners. Eventually working their way into the centre of the city and almost into the tower. Just as they did darkness fell onto the city. The sky darkened almost blocking out all the light, a field of shadows had engulfed the entire city, nothing living could penetrate. The Karl's forces were cut in two, those outside and those inside. Object could be thrown through the strange wall but no creatures could make it. The council forces put up a valiant fight the first two days, but many citizens had changed with the appearance of the darkness, turning mad, attacking and killing with no meaning. Karl's, the council forces, and normal people found themselves fighting against former comrades and crazed people from within the city. Chaos soon reigned after this, food quickly ran low, mobs battling over scraps, and people hiding in the darkness from the crazed ones. The city began to burn, and unchecked the fires now give the most light to the cut off metropolis. The temples seemed somehow to be a haven from the crazed mobs, not being able to enter across the threshold, but not from the raidng Karl's or council forces looking for sanctuary or supplies. They burned like the rest. The last one standing is the temple to Prometheus, who in Monaiya is a god of empowerment, he gives second chances to those who need them, and gives retribution to those that deserve it.

as a preacher he wears a brown corse hooded cloak, he is always dressed quite humble, with plain wool shirt underneath. Despite expectations he has a athletic physique, although the cloak is thick he holds himself very confidently that gives away his stature. He has a strong squared jaw, and warm attractive features despite several scars that look like crackling lightning, one his left side of his face, that have a faint green hue to them. His hair is a earthy light brown, never styled but kept short. His eyes are a light brown to match his hair but a marble green centre making them very piercing yet friendly. He has light laughter lines of someone that used to smile a lot, but now it seems he's mouth has turned sullen and sad.

Alliance:
good, former council soldier. Now priest of Prometheus. Cares for sick and vulnerable.
Personality:
Is a warm and passionate person, always balanced in his opinions and careful in his choice of words. He is purposely generous and selfless. He does have moments where his emotions build up, and fights hard to suppress those feelings. He's mind is always ticking over, with some thoughts or other, and rarely rests or lets himself relax.
Background and history:
he was a former council soldier he joined at thirteen, and saw many battles, he became a seargent. And was decorated for his ruthlessness and bravery, always leading the way, and protecting his men. He became popular with the soldiers, and higher lords as someone that could get the task done. However four years ago he was attacking a Karl encampment, and they were ordered to take no prisoners. But the Karl's had brought their families including women and children. Kail refused to attack, and struck his superior. In light of his service, and the fact if he was executed would have probably caused a revolt amongst the troops. He was sent to the dungeons beneath the Tothaza tower for a year where he suffered brutal torture. He was released by a former general who favored him. Kail joined the priesthood, after finding faith during his inprisonment.
Special powers/abilities:
has seem to become a favorite of the gods with his prayers on several occasion seemingly being answered. Once when the shadow came down, to protect the people within his church who wished for sanctuary. And then for light, since then the flames alight upon the torches that line the walls of the temple have not yet died out despite not being replaced.
Any equipment:
has now in his possession a glowing sword!
He posses various herbs for healing and incenses for prayer
He still has his chain mail armour, and helm with two, silver hands clasping a sphere upon it, a symbol of the council

Personality is ruthless in his acts, and been merciless against those against him, but his actions seem to protect those that appear innocent not much is known
Background and history: unknown appeared only when the shadow fell, and is found roaming the darkest streets.
Special powers/abilities: unknown supernatural abilities, is able to kill with ease usually in a particularly dramatic fashion, and has supernatural strength.
Alliance: a council Mage, one of the senior mages on Tothaza
Personality very direct, and to the point. Is known to be stern, and sensible. There are rumours that he has always been power crazed trying to get above his station.
Background and history: little is known, but many mages are taken in at a young age when they show magical abilities, and the general workers are taken in from orphanages, this leaves very few child beggars to pester citizens. Many of the council keep in touch with their families, it appears Alatar either does not, or he was one of the many taken from orphanages.
Special powers/abilities: his armour given to him allows him to radiate blue lightning from himself, he also has a certain amount of pre cognitive ability
Any equipment: wears ornate and magical armour, and staff.

Alliance: Neutral, more or less doing things for her own sake only, but not likely to go out of her way to cause harm to someone, unless has found particular dislike for someone
Personality: Leila is... complex. Perhaps easiest way to describe her would be cold, arrogant, needlessly cruel and even selfish. That is how she can perceived and indeed, it's all there. But in truth, it is more of a fortress above dungeons where broken mind and soul is chained.
She has certain kindness in her, although it most likely would be only shown towards animals and small children, especially girls. People who harm either are automatically blacklisted in her book (and that's not a good place to be).
Although always playing it cool and avoiding to display any emotions, this girl is in fact very emotional, prone to mood swings, sudden surges of anger or slipping into hopeless depression. One emotion out of this range is happiness. All of that will most likely swirl behind a still expression or even smirk.
Generally, intelligent and well read realist, quick and logical thinker, creative both in battle and survival related things as well in arts. Leila's certainly also somewhat prideful, defiant and even stubborn. When having a goal last trait shifts into steely determination.
Background and history: There is nearly no chance that she would ever share her story with anyone, but most of it has been soaked in tears, blood and suffering - hers and that of other's.
Finally, with certain things out of her way (such as revenge), Leila left her homeland on a long travel, perhaps in attempt to run away from her past and herself, although she would never call it like that.
Her life lacks a central point to turn around right now. For many years, there has been one and now she's slightly lost without it and in search for one. In the meantime, she tends to challenge herself and others, testing her limits and playing with death.
Perhaps, here in a foreign land and war that meant nothing to her until the unfortunate trapping of Tothaza she will find either a reason to live or peace in death.
Special powers/abilities: There are reasons to doubt she is fully human, although shadow folk are rarely, if ever heard of (especially around these parts). But speculations aside, her abilities simplified down are and revolve all around darkness and shadows. She is able to become one with them and later recreate herself, gaining ability to slightly shapeshift and heal, materialize darkness at her bidding (mostly used to create wings, sometimes weapons). However, both shape-shifting and healing are dangerous as she attempts to change the written 'data' of her self and there may be unexpected, even lethal side-effects.
Beside that, she has night vision and what she call shadou folk do her bidding like faithful servants. They, too, can materialize and do physical harm, but in most cases, they are used as spies and the distance between them and their Mistress is limited for this task.
What has been taught to her are her fighting skills, martial and with various weapons. She has also excelled in things related to alchemy and along with martial training has learned to lock herself in a secluded spot in her mind, ignoring pain and emotions. Therefor, she can resist going unconscious, physical suffering (like torturing) for much longer than others.
Weaknesses: Leila is attracted and even lured in by darkness although until shadows fell over Tothaza, she had little knowledge of this and now must resist the calling of the dark trap. With her sometimes depressed feelings, it can be rather hard at times...
What advantages she has in her small size, speed, reflexes and agility she certainly lacks in strength. Although strong compared to other woman of her stature, she would be no match for a burly man in this aspect.
Hiding her emotions that are more like raging sea than a calm lake often backlashes to herself and others. Her focus can be broken because of this, although her 'safe-room' is quite emotion-proof, in most cases.
Light weakens her powers, although for that to take particularly strong effect, it should be natural, not artificial light, such as man-made fire, candle or battery.
Any equipment: Crossbow, poisoned and regular arrows, various knives, rope and hook, coin purse (rather full), some vials with healing potions and poisons, bandages. Pouch of herbs and powders of various qualities. One layer of clothes and some dried foods in the backpack. Well hidden in a 'shadow pocket' inside the said backpack is her diary and few pens,a rather foreign item to Tothaza (perhaps) and ink bottle.
Some of the bigger things Leila usually stashes somewhere safe for sake of mobility if she has to stay put in some place, which means she would have to retrieve them when needed. Such things are: transportable alchemist kit, more alchemical ingredients, sleeping bag, basic necessities for hygiene and such, small stash of food and extra clothes.
Loren Fitzroy, played by SadrainX
Character name: Loren Fitzroy

He is a very tall man, standing at 6 feet and 9 inches. Fittingly, his form is rather impressive, although not overly muscled. His hair, similar to his wings, is silvery white and, in fact, seems to be soft feathers as well. The small beard he has is black, though. In contrast, the man's skin is dark, as if well tanned.
His eyes are very dark violet-blue. Loren's expressions are soft, but usually sad. His face consists of sharp angles and consistent straight lines, even his eyebrows are arched and sharp.
The wingspan is wide, and even when bent and tucked, they are quite noticeable - and heavy. With help of his powers, he can disguise them, but despite that, wings often get him in trouble. As he flies, the shimmering feather seem to create a music of sorts, a tune, although it could be only an illusion.
Age: Supposedly 24, actual age unknown
Alliance: Good, on very rare occasions might choose to remain neutral
Personality: Although friendly and kind, Loren does not let many really close to him and remains distanced in a sense that attracts many (especially women). He is rather independent, he won't even speak, when not in the mood. However, being kind at heart, makes him chose to help in most cases and usually, he is also rather talkative and open.
Very reliable person. His morale and truthfulness falls in just one point - and that is lying. Although certainly not a hardcore liar, Loren won't avoid a small lie when needed. However, he will not deceive about his feelings, such as saying "I love you", if he does not mean it. He dislikes argues, but despite all these peaceful traits, he is by no means naive. Quite the opposite, actually.
He is very artistic. Loves music, poetry, stories, arts - anything that can be created. Talented musician, fluent in 10 languages, he translates poems and stories, spreading them further. As well as writes them him self. Music notes is another thing he has mastered gracefully. Great at singing, of course. It is one side of his intelligence and wisdom, but they reach in many other spheres of life as well, such as psychology.
Loren is perceived as very charming, if a little strange. His gentlemanly nature is often perceived as flirting, but it's just the way he treats everyone, when in correct mood.
Background and history: Little to nothing is known of his past, but he doesn't mind sharing few stories. In short, he wanders from one place to another, spreading his music, stories and inspiring people to be better, kinder. He attempts to influence events for a better outcome and because of that, ended up in Monaiya, then Tothaza that is now under darkness' siege...
He still aspires to help and bring hope to the people there.
Special powers/abilities: His large wings take him in flight with ease, although flying large distances takes a good deal of energy, but perhaps less than walking (for him).
Has ability to create illusions with sounds, like his voice or music. The illusions vary in strength, from just making you think you smell something nice to one that makes you feel like you're drowning so believably you actually suffocate. Not once has Loren used his magic to take someone's life, however, and does not plan to.
He is actually very talented musician and does not need magic to create emotions in his listeners. The winged man has a knack for finding music for each and every person, though, just what they need then (whether they realize it or not). Similarly, the stories he spins entice and draw in, they are rather unpredictable and philosophical without being of the know-it-all sort.
It is unclear if he has affinity with wind element, but it is possible and he has been seen to affect weather with his music, like making wind chase clouds away. All supposed displays of this magic have been very minor, however.
Any equipment: He travels very lightly, just a bigger bag with one spare cloth set, something alike first aid kit, coin purse (fullness depends on how well some of his performances have went, currently on the empty side since in the war torn world, everything's most likely expensive), some food, and his most prized possession - the music instrument collection that consists of pan pipe, egyptian flute, double flute. Also has set of two knives, one of them is rather long and good in fights.

Nuru has an unusual look to him, mainly because he's not quite what one would label… human. In fact, Nuru is of animal linage. He's a cheetah, through and through. Only, as noted, he can stand on two legs and can talk. This, of course, notes that he is of the Chethume race. Chethumes are, as the name suggestions, cheetah-humans. Much like a human, Nuru wears clothes. He is always seen wearing his faded red scarf and he opts to cover his "junk" with black pants that are torn off at the bottom. Belts and straps keep his blade holstered to his hip and his quiver of arrows strapped to his back. His paws (feet) are left naked as shoes feel weird against his paw padding. The remainder of his body is covered in golden, cheetah-fur. His large, yellow eyes are focused and experience and his ears as constantly on the alert for danger or calls. A long, tail juts from his spinal cord just above the hips, which aids him in his running at extreme speeds.
Age: Mid to late twenties (about twenty-six or twenty-seven)
Alliance: Mercenary that fights on the side of justice, his sense of righteousness.

Nuru is kind by nature but fierce by choice. In a world of desolation and destruction, the cat-man was forced to change who he was to survive. The sweet little bloke that once brought smiles to the faces of his clan vanished.
Born a hunter and a tracker, his skills became optimal for people who sought to hunt down others. He began as a mercenary at a young age and, only recently, decided to change his alliance from that of evil and self-greed. His arrows now fly free for justice and compassion. Never again does he want to kill to help line someone's pocket. Nuru's trying to rekindle his playful, kind personality. It's a slow change, but Nuru knows that in a world of darkness, only the light will stand brighter than the rest. He wants to break from the darkness and lead the way to a shining, bright future.
Background and History:
Growing up in a very close family, Nuru was blessed with being surrounded by his wildman-like kin. He was the seventh born to his parents and Nuru has a pair of twin sisters born a year younger than he. The Chethume species lives in a pride, much like lions, which is how Nuru was raised. He and his family lived on the flatlands, but took shelter in the caves nearby the mountain range. Traveling into the city about five times a year, Nuru's family would do their best to always bring the kids so that they could learn about the other races.
Although living in a semi-isolated world his whole life, Nuru was tossed into a public school where he learned and played alongside other races, most of which were animal-infused races like his own. By the time he was sixteen, he was taken under the wing of his father and his dad's partner (Wolfman) where he learned how to become a "real man," or at least one that could hunt and protect his family.
Darkness had yet to really shake the Chethume from their roots. But then that day of darkness came. Everything and everyone was lost. Only Wolfman, his father's partner, survived along with Nuru. Wolfman did the only thing he could -- he sold him. Nuru, although heartbroken, knew Wolfman needed the money to travel across the land to find his northern brother. Nuru, now the slave of some wealthy humans, was enrolled in an army to serve the lord of the land. Serving for three years (until he was 20), Nuru eventually broke away with a band of humans to join the SoBH (the Society of Bounty Hunters). It wasn't until four years later than he became a mercenary for hire and he served a dark overlord. Recently, though, Nuru decided he couldn't take blood and line his lord's pockets. Blessed to leave from the lord's wife, Nuru set out to find his own freedom and path toward justice. He's a lone traveler, but he's rarely seen. He would rather be a ghost than a player at this point.
Special Powers: Nuru is a cheetah so speed is his specialty. He's also a feline so his senses are very heightened. He's nimble and composed, but can easily be distracted by warmth and yarn. As a born hunter and catcher, Nuru knows all the tricks and can practically vanish, much like a cat can. He's very knowledgable and knows what flora and fauna to avoid. Being a cat, his constitution is strong, which allows him to take on his fair share of poisonous foes.
Equipment: Equipped with a bow and quiver of arrows, Nuru specializes in long-range battle. However, don't let that fool you into thinking he can't bring a fight to you. His teeth are razor sharp, as are his claws. He carries a small blade on his left hip on the off chance he needs to throw it. A ball of yarn is the only other thing Nuru carries on his person.

Lol, I can't believe I didn't think that! I really can't believe I didn't see the connection... No, just a very funny coincidence! As it was a pic of a Jedi originally, couldn't find a hooded monk or priest that didn't look feeble or evil! And I can't draw anything myself at the moment as have absolutely no equipment

The more I think about this, the more excited I get. This has potential to spin a whole series of RPs afterwards, the duos or bigger groups continuing adventures together or meeting up after years, one on ones with possible other players taking cameos and so on. :D
Leila getting along with anyone would be a first. But, who knows, as RP progresses, they just might! In any case, it'll be interesting to see them interact!
I think they would have that silent oath of friendship about them. Nuru wouldn't want to upset her, but he would respect her for her skills and talents. And he certainly wouldn't hate her, unless she shifted toward the side of evil and darkness. XP
She's usually sarcastic and mean, when she opens her mouth, but perhaps they could come to a mutual and silent respect-each-other's-skill agreement. That isn't so far from a kind of friendship for her. Besides, she's in transforming phase right now, perhaps more silent than mean, it could work out. Hah, I can imagine her calling him fuzzball. =_=
