The last thing you probably want to watch on TV when you're free and relaxing is the NEWS.

Am I the only one who actually enjoys watching primetime news (CNN, ABC, CBS, etc.)? Or your local news maybe. Or any news-related shows such as 60 Minutes or Good Morning America.

After too much history and studies on society in school, you're probably fed up with it by now. Lately though, you'll notice this generation's increasing interest in world knowledge. Even celebrities get into the social consciousness thing

I, personally, like knowing what's going on in the world, for one. I don't like being uninformed about something. Sure, there are times when I change channels when a particular news item's too boring or maybe I just can't understand what they're talking about. But on the whole, I tuck away tidbits of info I learn from the news. It also adds to my "bag of tricks" - that mental collection of topics and subjects to talk about whenever I chat with friends or socialise with new people.

I try as much as I can not to be ignorant, and you won't be, when I can get so much info from the internet about what's happening on the other side of the world.

I actually like watching the news. xD I like doing stuff like that, plus reading newspapers, online and offline, because that way I generally know what stuffs happening.

Only old people watch the news? I'd tend to disagree with that, because a lot of young people I know watch the news for mainly the same reasons as me.

Weirdest...Hmm, probably a story of a mouse with two heads that was bought for a few thousand dollars by a exotic animal collector.

Most alarming...quite a bit of stuff is alarming. Probably news generally about murders, kidnappings, and criminal offenses like that. I find it really shocking that people would be so low as to commit acts such as that.

I've never been THE news, no :P

I must admit... I don't really watch the news. ^^;;

I use the internet instead. There are too many things on the news that I find boring. Like sports and weather. I hate it when there is an interesting story but it's coming up after all of this stuff I have zero interest in.

Where I live it's alot of crime stories and murders. It gets very depressing. I just choose my news stories online now.

I like watching those fun news progeams like News to Me. That show is the best.
And I usualy watch importaint news like stuff about hurricanes [partialy becuase I live in Florida and am in a danger zone] and importaint political buisness.
I've been watching bits and pieces for the Democratic National Convention. Its pretty interesting stuff. I only wish the Republican convention would come on so I could compair the two. I wonder if the republicans rip the democratic candidates as bad as the democrats rip them.
I WAS on the news once! I was the "Color the weather winner of the month!" I drew a pretty picture and got to go on the weather section.

I watch CBS every evening. And the past few days I've been watching the DNC on CNN.
I watch the local news sometimes, too.

I've also been on the news three times. ^^ Always in a group, though.

I think the only time I actually sit there and watch the news is a morning when it just snowed to see if I have school that day or possibly a delay. Otherwise I'll usually just pick up a newspaper and read exactly what I wanna find out then just kind of forget about it. The news usually drag things out and for some reason always put what I'm waiting for last I think they're spying on me. I just hate having to wait and listen to all the junk that I don't want to know so I'll stick to the news papers and get some small reading in.

Sometimes I do prefer using the internet too for news, Adrastia, You can filter out the stuff you don't want to see and pick up the bits that interest you, right?

What I don't like though is when you have to watch a video just to get that news item. Why can't they just put an article below it or something, or at least a summary, so you at least get a gist of it? It's not that my net's too slow but streaming vids have to always pause every now and then (like youtube) to download its content. It's just annoying.

@ Hi kemii :). Mouse with two heads? o.0. I'm not surprised it went for thousands of dollars lol.

@ Dragoseta: Hoah yeah, the electoral race is exactly why I watch more news lately . Why it's better than celebrity entertainment news! I'm waiting for it too so I compare just like you. For some people maybe they find themselves one-sided on which candidate to pick, but for my part, I'm still open to all options. We're not as dumb as we used to be, after all xD

"Color the weather winner of the month!" (claps) - I shall award you on this thread too with a Yumeh --> :yumeh: and a boogie --> :boogie:

@ Cherry Flavored Antacid: On the news three times? Well never mind in a group, you're still in it and experienced it. Hope it was happy news xD.

@ DarkFrost885: :insane: I get that feeling too sometimes that they're like, "oh he's on, let's put the best news for last." They got an eye on us . Seriously though it's annoying too especially when you're like in a hurry.

Kenric - It was!
The first time it was covering a summer art class I was in. The other two times were with my drama group. Every year they did a spring musical (and still do, I'm just not with them anymore) and would get about two minutes (across the program, not all at once) to sing songs from the play as they went to commercial to promote the play. I went with them twice.

False false false false, and most definitely false. I'm fourteen, and I love watching the news. A lot of people in my class and school do as well, not just me! I think it's important for people to be educated on current events around the world. I watch most news bulletins in the afternoon or evening, and also shows on current affairs, such as "A Current Affair", "60 Minutes", and "Today Tonight".

I love watching the news, especially the stock market reports (even though I barely understand a word of what they're saying).
Though, I wouldn't want to watch one of those 24/7 news stations; news is good, but not in massive amounts like that.
Small hourly updates are much more manageable.
