Nothing wrong with that ^_^ I don't find it disturbed at all. In fact, I run a small MSN group website for adults who collect and customize toys (it's Rated NC-18... no actual porn is allowed, but toys doing porn is allowed, and one of my members is a very graphic customizer...VERY graphic O_o (Stuff that made me say "WTF??" And I am not easily startled LOL)

Here is my first peircings I did on a doll (it's not a Barbie, it's from a JAKKS Pacific line called Girl Force, which is no longer around):
Her name is Nancy, named after another customizer who's nick name is Depressed Gothic Barbie

Fully dressed:

And here is my Snot Topic (a rip on Hot Topic XD poseurs) doll:

I hope these aren't stretching the page. I'm not very good at resizing photos :S

@Monstahh... just keep reminding yourself that you are on dry land ^_^ and hold on tightly to your desk :3

Oh, no... I tried sewing, and my little sewing machine HATES me

I buy the clothes from eBay or at Toys R Us or even at thrift stores- then clean them up and modify them to the dolls. The dress the blond with the piercings is wearing is a custom dress made by Nancy (Depressed Gothic Barbie, seller ID: thexjack on eBay).

There are a lot of people who make a living selling customized doll dresses for everything from regular Barbie sized to My Size Barbie (the 3 foot tall one). I have like six or seven My Size Barbies. I buy kids clothing for them at regular stores and dress them up ^_^

Here is my version of the anime' girl "Lain" (the one in the Bear suit). It's hard to see, but she has the side braid like lain- and my husband put the Asian Barbie head on a My Size (so that is customized):

My husband is the REAL customizer in the family. He's been doing it since he was 8...so 22 years O_o He's really good, too. Are all the other threads in the Event Forum dead? x_x ??

Anyone willing to help me write a short oessay on the social and economic impacts of hurricane katrina (what damage did the hurricane cause, how did the hurricane affect daily life/the economy, what was done to repair the damage and prevent future disaster, etc.)?

rofl - that's because it's our chance NOT to kill a thread (for once) xD
who wouldn't go for that?

also, because we are all awesome.

and i edited my last post; didn't realize it had gone through before. x3

edit :: i could go on all day about Katrina. those people were treated horribly there, propaganda notwithstanding. a HUGE number of people won't be able to go back to their homes, and many who were promised that they could come back when their areas were rebuilt are still being kept out. Some of the older buildings (solid stone and brick) that were fine, except for water damage on the first floors - buildings that held up to 100 families or more - are being demolished instead of renovated, and being replaced with buildings that hold 30 or fewer families. Those people who have been waiting for years by this time now have nowhere to go.

the economy there will probably be okay, since only the people who can afford to rebuild on their own will make it. most people who can't afford to start over will have to leave. enough of them will be able to stay to make sure that there are people doing the menial and service jobs, but that's it. New Orleans will lose its character and heart because many of the people who made it what it was are either gone or leaving.

Mmmm... I hate conflict with people. Especially on here. Here's where I try to be nice. Mene is my happy place. But I feel myself about to lose my temper...

Anywho, I think I'll buy the ayumui's black skirt soon. I think I'd get alot of use out of it ^^

It's good to have you back. I can try and help =3 Though, I don't live in the states and hardly watched the news  But! xD

To me; the damage of hurricane Katrina made some pretty good damages, it caused a lot of sorrow and death. Daily life became harder then before due to flooding that ruined crops etc.

@Kyou: I just noticed the beautimus artwork in your siggie ^_^ ToriKat is very talented (she must be a good friend to make such a beautiful art for you <3 )

@Monstahh... put in something about how the oil refineries being damaged encouraged the increase in gas prices...and there has been no decrease in gas prices since. That's a nice little factoid to throw in.

Also, you can bring up how FEMA had to be re-organized after it's failure to really help the victims of Katrina.

We had about 3,000 people from Katrina come to Phoenix, AZ... total relocation. Those poor folks. They went from a bayou (swampy area) to the middle of the farking desert *blech*. But, at least they had a place to stay, clean clothes to wear, and food to eat (and lots and lots of water to drink!!).

Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced and had to move to different parts of the country. That put an economic stress on the local disaster funds of the areas to where they were relocated.

Other than that, I'm at a loss as to what to put in your paper :S

Hahahahah!! The Thread Killahs win the internets!!

All your threads are belong to US!

Earth - I didn't watch the news either, I just have to research and do a project on it.

Earth - I'm not going to complain, it was due last Friday, but because I wasn't at school that Friday, or Monday, and I skipped on Tuesday, and my work got deleted by some trouble maker yesterday, I have to redo EVERYTHING. xP I blame my karma. I shouldn't have ditched class.

here's a source:

3600 families homeless because of one decision and over 12000 homeless overall. Folks who could barely pay $50/month for rent are now being forced to pay upward of $800. Sounds like it's small, and it sounds unlikely that people live this way, but if I had to pay that much for rent, I'd be out on the street. ):

that source talks about it being racially motivated, and I'm on the fence about that. However, even if you leave that out, and focus on the economics of the decision to demolish the buildings, it's still motivated by the almighty dollar. >:[

@Kyou...what conflict? What's going on?
~looks around thread...doesn't see any conflict going on...and is confuzzled again~ I hope you get it resolved *nod*

Well, kiddos, I need to go lay down. My body is hurting, which is a sign that I've been pushing it too much these last few days (I always do that on event days >.< I can't help it.. it's the only time I'm really active on any site).

Anywho... I do believe I will be cutting my time on Roli down to a minimum, as I already have with Gaia, and will be spending more time here on Mene. The people are actually fun to talk with- no trolls or flamers (or flat-out assholees, pardon my German)... so I feel pretty comfortable here. I also belong to a site that is geared towards College (University) age and older. If anyone is interested in that, PM me for the link *nod* The avatars are of adult people, not cutesie little chibis like most avatar sites. It's more geared toward conversation than dressing up your avatar (which is why I'm sticking with Mene- I like to play with dolls, as you have seen :D , and I see avatar sites as "pixel dolls" ^_^

@Monstahh: good luck with your paper!

@everyone: thank you for making this event enjoyable! I didn't have any need to thread-jump because this thread was so much fun!!! I look forward to continuing our friendship (and don't forget our Super Hero/Villian Thread Killer Team!! We have to get that going full swing!! :P )

Here is the link to the Permanent thread for Thread Killers:

that's what gets me so mad about it, too! D:
i mean, haven't they been through enough? They got left out in the storm, then stuffed in an arena for days afterward, since the buses were busy getting the tourists and rich folks out of town, and now they can't even go back to their homes, because the homes that they were told were being repaired are being demolished instead.

And HUD didn't have to do it. They could have saved tons of money by just cleaning out and repairing the building. It's a sociological thing, not just the money (though the money either is or will be a factor). Of the 1200 units in Lafitte, only 94 units will be spared and renovated for people to move back in.

EDIT ::: kyou, i hope everything's okay. u_u;
