You pull the cover off one of the bins. It’s heavy, so it doesn’t budge but a little for its contents. They’re dark, and give off a foul scent. Upon slight inspection it’s obvious it’s either blood or a combination of blood, oil, and water.
  • Inspect another bin; there might be something better in another...
  • Take your weapon and go to the door.
  • Wait here for a while longer, perhaps you’ll be met with whoever brought you here.

Lex walks over to the stairway, but, stopped right in his tracks. He couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out the padlocked door. He wasn't good at getting things unlocked, just figuring them out is all; turning around he walked over to it and looked around. He wasn't sure what to expect and sometimes it was safer than doing anything else at the time being. "Okay, so it's locked" he confirmed speaking to himself as he tried tugging on it, but, it wouldn't budge as easy as he expected and so he pulled on it harder hoping it would open.
The lock screeches a little against its rusty counterpart attached to the door, but otherwise it doesn’t move. Either someone doesn’t want you in here, or they’re guarding an empty room for no reason.
  • Go through the other door.
  • Go back to the room you woke in, perhaps there’s something you overlooked.
  • Go upstairs and look for others.

Her hemophobia nearly made her vomit right there, but she managed to avert her eyes and calm herself down a bit more.

Once she figured that she wouldn't have a heart attack, she headed for the door, which was the only visible way out of, or into, the room. While she might have been able to find a weapon, her football skills, read tackling, and fitness would probably save her. Not to mention that any weapon would be near the bloody rags.
You try the door. Pulling it forward, it slides open with a bit of a rustic raking sound. Afterward, it comes open rather smoothly, if a bit heavily. Outside a short hallway leads to a stairwell, and a wooden door to the left and right. The one on the right is locked with a rusty padlock.
  • Reconsider your decision to not search for a weapon.
  • Leave the room and go straight upstairs.
  • Pause on your way upstairs and inspect the doors.

You pull it open easily. It rakes a bit, but otherwise comes to quickly. Outside you see a dim hallway which leads to a stairwell, and two doors, one which is locked.
  • Go back to search the room you just came from.
  • Leave the room and go straight up the stairs and search for others.
  • Before going upstairs, check the doors you see in the hallway.

Lex sighs, he turns around, not in much mood to mess with a stupid lock. Moving towards the staircase, walking up the steps slowly, but, not too slowly in case any would break, though he wasn't paying any attention to anything dangerous or not at the moment. He reached the top thinking 'Man do i hate stairs' and went to see what else would lie around, he was getting in his adventure mood meaning he would start to not care about things around him even less. He always seemed like a child that way.

Rue woke to complete darkness and a shiver crept down her spine. She tried to sit up but her forehead met resistance with a cold metallic twang. Her arms stretched out cautiously and found more of the cold metal surrounding her. Her throat tight with fear, Rue thrashed wildly until the drawer slid open with a thump and she was bathed in a flickering fluorescent light. Sitting up carefully, Rue rubbed at her eyes and tried to get her bearings.

Cringing, she shoves the cover back on. Definitely her worst nightmare. Pausing to catch her breath and calm her heart rate, she turns hesitantly and knocks on another bin. After a moment and with hesitation, she slowly tries to open it.

You make it to a doorway when you get all the way up the stairs. Opening the door, you find you're in a large dining room. There doesn't seem to be modern lighting here, however, since the low chandelier is lit with heavy red candles. Other fire-needy lamps rest on the long table, or scattered here and there. The place is vacant of dust, grime, and mold, and in fact, the table itself is laid out with a stunningly-white table cloth and set for mealtime. On one plate is a heavily-folded paper, imprinted with the words: Map of The Grounds.

A map ought to come in handy! You have two choices regarding the map:
  • Keep it with you as you go.
  • Hang it up on the wall for future reference and study.
  • Ignore it completely and take a look around. This seems to be a house.

You see that there several doors to the left and right of you, once possibly belonging to corpses, now open and vacant. You see a body on the floor, scalped, pale, drained of blood, staring at you among white-and-red cloth, just beside a dissection table. A pale, fading stream of light enters from the only narrow, domed window above the floor to the left, and a heavy metal door along the other side of the room rests open.

There are several hiding places here. Bins whose lids are slightly ajar, a few cases unopened on a counter to the right. A sink, perhaps filled with usable tools.
  • Stop for a while and try to remember where you are.
  • React with disgust at everything you see and grow frantic.
  • Search the room for weapons, in case someone's near who could harm you.
  • Leave the room empty-handed, perhaps there are others nearby who could assist you in some way.

As soon as you lift the lid, something flies at you with a screech. It hits you square in the chest and sends you onto your backside, scampering away. Only then do you see that it's a rat, massive for such a thing, with ugly yellow teeth that show as it turns your way, as if showing its displeasure at your disrupting its nap. Before you can react, however, it scurries through a hole in the wall near the metal lockers, which is far too small for you to get through.
  • Count your victories and leave the morgue.
  • Poke around a bit more, just in case!
  • Stay in the morgue with your weapons and wait for help to come. Perhaps you'll get lucky?

Meanwhile....

Marcello studies the monitor labeled 'morgue'. How delightful! His thoughts are cheery, despite a grim, colorless, and slouching outward demeanor. They're all awake. Perfect.... He runs a hand over the syringe he'd set next to the series of glowing monitors, empty now from its several past uses. His very small amount of knowledge in tranquilizers had allowed him to administer the perfect dosages to each of his little rats, so that they could wake exactly half an hour apart from one another. Now he sits in an old but sturdy chair, feet propped up on the row of desks pushed against a peeling wall. He's safe here, in the attic of the house. He'd managed to create a perfect pocket for his exit door, which fit seamlessly with the rest of the wall so no one would even know it existed. Then again, he didn't want to take chances. On his waist sat a couple switchblades, and a small 9mm. handgun. In a shadowy corner laid a few shotguns, ropes, handcuffs, and keys.

He wasn't low on tranquilizers, either. They were absolutely necessary, after all. How would he be able to intervene every now and then, keep the... 'game'... fresh if they knew he was so near at every moment? Of course, the food he'd provided, laid out in the kitchen's pantry, was laced here and there with the same sleep-inducing tasteless liquid. All he had to do was watch.....

The light in the room was dim, coming out of only one window. Rue blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted and looked around a bit more thoroughly. There were several bins along the far wall, some unopened cases, and a sink. Deciding to investigate a little bit before panicking, Rue stood and held her breath in anticipation as she walked over. Perhaps there would be a useful weapon hidden in there somewhere if she was lucky.

Screaming as she flew backwards, she landed hard on her back. Her hands clenched the bone saw, turning her knuckles white. She wouldn't have had a chance. Of that she was certain. Laying there, gasping for air, she tried to pretend she was just in her grandma's cellar. It didn't work. Finally scrambling shakily to her feet, she staggered as quickly as she could for the door. Staying down here was just no longer an option.

A loud gargled snore escaped him as Kemper involuntarily shifted in his sleep. He didn't shift by much in the tight drawer, but he wouldn't notice. Another gargled snore and one eye opened a sliver. He was uncomfortable. He only snored when he was uncomfortable and now his snoring had woken him up. Where was his pillow? Why was his room so cold?

Kemper's eyes opened groggily as he moved to sit up immediately hitting his forehead on something cold and metal. That wasn't how he usually woke, but, he'd woken in worse situations. Kemper yawned, oblivious to what was happening to him. He lay there for a moment waking up before clearing his throat. "Okay guys, you got me." But there was no response.

Shimmying and wriggling and pushing around until he figured out that he could move his "bed" by placing his hands on the roof of it and pushing, Kemper opened the body drawer. He sat up and looked around the dimly lit room as he rubbed haphazardly at the red spot on his forehead. A morgue? Damn. This prank definitely topped all of the ones he'd played on those guys.

Grumbling angrily as he climbed out of the drawer, Kemper was already plotting his revenge prank. Across the room, the door was open and he headed towards it, thinking of nothing but his friends who were surely in the next room having a laugh at his expense. As he took a step, his shoe landed in a small puddle and Kemper lost his balance. He tried to grab onto the table beside him, but alas, his hand grasped a slippery surface and before he knew it he was on his back on the floor.

Just fucking great, he thought. What was all this crap on the floor anyway? He sat up and brought his wet hand up to look at the substance that had caused him to lose his grip on the table. For a long moment, Kemper sat there in the floor staring at the crimson liquid dripping from his hand. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see something poking out from the other side of the table. He couldn't be sure what it was, but he was beginning to assume his friends were really taking this too far...

Aletta plastered a determined look upon her face and took a very deep breath. She just couldn't stay there anymore with one of the deceased! With a muffled yell she shot out of the room to race up the stairs. The pounding of her feet echoed that of her heart as unopened doors flew past her in a blur. The brunette didn't once think that another might have been in the same predicament as she. Not much of a surprise considering the rather stressful circumstances. Plus, everything just seemed to be getting worse with every second!

Peeking once more at the bloody rags, Dani knew that it would be impossible for her to get the courage to head over there and check it out. So, instead, she contented herself with leaving the room to look for a way out. The doors piqued her curiosity, especially the one that was locked, but she figured it wouldn't open and made do with the left, placing her hand on the knob to open it. Before she did, however, she completely focused on listening to anything that could be on the other side of the door. It proved too thick, however, so she was forced to just build up the courage and open the darn thing.

Lex walked over to the paper glancing it over, he was sure this would come in handy one way or another. Lex folds it up and sticks it in his right pocket of his shorts. Turning around he looks for another place to go, he keeps his ears open in case there is someone or something there, however, he didn't know if he wanted to run into anyone else.

You find the lids to the bins open. One contains a dark, tarry looking substance that gives off a rotten smell. The one beside it is empty, save some dirt around the bottom and what looks like a load of dark hair. Nothing of use in either one.
  • Continue your investigation of various empty-looking places.
  • Finally begin a panic and refuse to leave the room.
  • Investigate the door and go through to whatever’s waiting.

You open the door and find a narrow hallway with two doors on either side before ending in a slightly lighted staircase. The door to the right is padlocked, but it looks rusty. Nothing has bothered it. The other door looks unlocked, but is closed. Could be interesting to take a look, no?

All we need is a young rebel. You stare around; obviously you’ve never been here before, and you’re undoubtedly alone. It’s no question as to the identity of the dark red substance on your hand, though. A few bins are against the right wall, but the lids are off, so a quick glance in would let you know what’s in. They’re probably empty. However, a few covered rectangles sit on the counter near the bins, and there’s a sink in the middle, but you can’t tell what’s inside from your position on the floor.
  • Get up and shake off the initial shock. Then, consider the events leading up to your arrival.
  • Immediately search for a weapon in case some crazy is still around.
  • Forget the idea of a weapon or figuring out why you’re here and go straight to the door that’s obviously the exit.

The best way to throw anyone, even a crazy person, would be to run yelling from your place of initial confinement. Your feet fall harder than you ever imagine on the hollow stairs, and halfway up, your foot smashes through a termite-eaten board of wood. It doesn’t seem to faze you, however, because you’re moving too quickly.

You make it through the door upstairs and find you’re in a dining room. Its especially long oak table is laid out as if for a meal, and candles litter the room. A large iron chandelier glows to compensate the lack of light from very tall, narrow windows covered with heavy red drapes. Several archways lead off to different directions.
  • Examine the table. You must be hungry after all this! Perhaps it’ll have something to eat.
  • Search for something other than food. Maybe you’ll surprise yourself?
  • Go through the archway to the left, along the longest wall. It leads to the kitchen.
  • Go through the archway to the center. It leads to a lounge.

Courageous one, aren’t you? Through the door you find a bare lightbulb throwing a sickly yellow glow over various items, and the scent in the room actually turns your stomach. Mainly, meat hooks. Some are bare, but rusted with age. A few in the corner have slivers and strings of meat hanging from them, which seemed to have been there for a while, possibly weeks. The ones front and center contain very large slabs of unidentifiable meat that appear oddly fresh. On one in particular you think you can see the skull of a human.

As you stand there, the light bulb explodes and sends hot glass showering over you. Naturally, you stumble into the hallway behind you.
  • Shut the door and act as if you didn’t see anything.
  • Go back in to explore. Maybe there’s a different light.
  • Leave everything as it is and go straight upstairs.

You’re taking the map? But what if someone else is around? They could use a layout too, you know. Well, it’s your decision. You begin an exploration, wandering about. Your first destination is to your right, through an archway that leads to the kitchen. It seems the entire house is immaculate, as though someone, or a series of someones, had gone on a cleaning spree but had left the basement untouched.

You’re in an attached greenhouse, on the other end of the ground floor, when you hear something. Someone yelling, obviously a girl, and thudding as if they’re running up a set of hollow stairs. Most likely, the stairs you recently came up.
  • Go see what the bother’s about.
  • Stay where you are, even if the girl could use help.
  • Ignore it and go upstairs. It might just be in your head.

Still shaky from running into the rat, and wanting desperately to get out of here, her eyes focused on the promise of light, a way out, and freedom. Unable to control her panic and frantic desires to be free, she runs down the hall and past the two doors. A part of her would have liked to have attempted to open the rusty door but luck didn't seem to be on her side. She had a bone saw in one hand and another tool tucked in her boot. She should really focus on getting out of her. Reaching the stairs, she takes the steps two at a time.

Lex hears the noise, he wasn't even sure anyone else was around, let alone in this house like he was. Wandering over to where he heard a girl's voice, he stepped carefully watching each move he made. He wasn't as of afraid of things as most people would be, but, he was afraid of what or who was in the house playing a game with them. Looking around he saw the walls, the floors, it seemed like a normal house, minus the creepy basement.
