Just like Adam said, Trey stayed right where he stood as the other man went to talk to the ship captain. Trey had no intention of participating in that. He shivered a bit and stared up at the stars, a little lost in them. So many sparkled above, but he remembered more blanketing a grassy glade, the ground slick with dew and scattered flower petals...

The sound of Adam's voice nearby again made him jump. Trey focused his gaze, realizing the unpleasant conversation with another human being already ended. Without a word, he fell into step behind Adam. At least they would not be traveling on a crowded ship. He could praise small blessings. At the mention of his unease, he tilted his head slightly in question, almost saying nothing in return. After a few seconds though, he decided that he aught to just in case he new friend took offense to Trey's quiet, though he could easily travel for days without a single full conversation.

"I'm not uneasy. I like water. I don't think I like Paris though." He decided to leave it at that, which was more honest and detailed than he normally went with. Trey just never did well with conversing, even before getting turned. Human friends? Family? He stayed aloof from both which might explain why he got turned in the first place and since then, he interacted meaningfully with people far less. Only in Japan did he begin to find a place. Even then though, it wasn't meant to be. They were nationalistic and he was a pale skinned blonde. Until Adam, no companion ever felt right for him. He did hope and not hope that it would last.

The few seconds of silence felt a lot longer to Adam than it probably should have. Adam stared at Trey for a while, hoping to find the answers in the young man's body language. The silence felt like to stretched over minutes, Adam was so sucked in by the stillness he nearly jumped when Trey spoke.

Ah yes, Paris is a big city. But to think of all the fresh blood they could get there! Adam wished he could convince Trey that it would be alright in Paris, that things will be better for him and they will have more to do. Instead, Adam just turned his gaze to the water beneath the boat. "We do not have to stay in Paris." Adam admitted. Adam was only going to Paris until the people in Calais forgot he existed. Taking a private transport boat and paying off the captain would ensure that his name would become completely forgotten in Calais give or taken a decade or two.

"We don't stay in one place for too long, anyway." Adam decided he didn't want to say much more on the subject, he picked up his violin from its case and began to play once more. Out of nervous habit, yes, but because he didn't like the air to have dead space in it. Air needed to be filled with something, and what better than music?

Rather than lean against the ship's rail which came up to an awkward height where he couldn't comfortably rest his elbows, Trey dropped into a squat and sat with both his arms through the rail. He stretched them toward the water without really stretching because he preferred to sit in a static state with Adam's sweater bunched up around his shoulders to keep the sea breeze off of him.

"We?" he finally iterated, questioning the word that Adam so casually started to use like they were a team now. He wasn't sure how either of them felt about that though. Trey liked to be alone. Trey wanted this first person he could connect with to stay as his companion. Did Adam want him to stick around? "You wanted to go to Paris though. If you want to stay there, that's fine..." Trey just pouted slightly at the water. It didn't really matter to him after all. Place him somewhere and he more than likely would stay. Just like he so easily left the city he just started to settle into since someone coerced him away.

When Adam started to play his music, Trey let his eyes close as he leaned fully against the railing. The gentle lull of the waves and the violin's melody did magical things. He wondered just who Adam played for and regretted leaving so spontaneously and not bringing his own sparse belongings with him. Then this might feel like home. After sitting like that for quite some time, long after the ship sailed again and the docks disappeared into the night even to their vampire eyes, Trey spoke again. "Do you think there's fishes down there?"

Adam remained quiet, but kept playing. He didn't have the words to respond to Trey right now. He was so engrossed with his song that nothing else really seemed to be worth the extra breath. He decided that he liked Trey. The young man's quietness was easily reflected by Adam, all the while, Adam was hoping he could somehow help Trey feel less.... Lonely. After all, Adam was lonely himself. He felt that as vampires he and Trey should stick together. Loneliness for eternity sounded like a terrible way to live, but he'd understand if Trey didn't want to follow.

It calmed Adam when Trey went silent for a while and the music hung above the air alongside the sounds of the waves hitting the sides of the boat. Adam stayed quiet, letting his violin talk for him. When Trey spoke again, he wasn't even interrupted. He continued to play, just a little quieter as he started to respond to Trey,

"You tell me." Adam studied Trey's features as he continued playing. The way Trey crouched in front of the rails reminded him of the way Evelyn would crouch in front of the rivers in Manchester. Back then, when he and she were secretly courting, they'd often only come outside during night, where she'd show him the black moths and the fish that ate them. Trey even looked a little like Evelyn. Blonde hair. Skinny.

Adam abruptly stopped playing as his mind began to swim back to thoughts of Evelyn. He loved and hated to think of her, it always reminded him of his broken heart and made him hate his existence at times. What was the point of going on without Evelyn? But now that Trey was here... Well, at least he wouldn't be alone.

"Sorry." Adam whispered and he brought the violin back to his chin and continued to play where he'd left off.

Trey hummed to himself in response. If not pressed, he found it easy to say nothing and often to do nothing either. He enjoyed the rock of the boat though and considered sleeping. Relaxing even further, he wiggled a finger in the direction of the water. Even in the dead of night, his eyes could see motion down below, surely the waves created from the boat's motion. Other than that though, he couldn't see a thing. He decided though, that there were definitely bunches and bunches of bright golden fish swimming just beneath them.

He'd just settled into this little fantasy when the music stopped. His drifting mood ended with it and Trey looked up, trying to catch Adam's eye. For a second, they met eyes and Trey thought he read something there. Something he knew himself, but couldn't easily put into thoughts or words. Before he could say anything though, Adam started to play again. It made Trey curious and baffled. Was Adam perhaps sad? He seemed like the sort of person who was in control of their life. He knew what he was doing and possibly what Trey should be doing, which he always struggled to understand. So why ever look lost.

After a second more of the renewed music, Trey dropped his eyes again and breathed out. "Why are you sorry?" He really didn't get it.

Adam continued to play, though, the more he played the more he found himself missing her and the more he had to fight himself not to completely lose his mind and attack the poor man who was driving the boat.... All because he found his seething hatred for humans to slowly become overwhelming.

Adam tried his best to focus on positive thoughts of her. Tried not to let those horrid, unpleasant thoughts of her death pollute the wonderful memories he had with her... Adam struggled to finish the song. He tried the best he could to focus, not let the terrible thoughts into his head, but he was failing something awful. He found his fingers were slipping and he played some sour notes. His brow furrowed, but he kept trying to play, the violin screeched and groaned as he pressed on it roughly in an attempt to push away the scary thoughts and feelings.

In the end, Adam had to stop playing. He was an accomplished musician and it hurt his feelings that he was playing so terribly, so suddenly. It was a bit embarrassing to play like that in front of Trey, usually music calmed Adam. But today, after all that's happened, perhaps it would be best to wait until he was in better headspace before attempting to play a song for her again. When Adam's song was... "done", and he finally registered what Trey had said, Adam huffed and snorted a response,

"Nevermind." He turned his back towards Trey and focused on a random star in the sky. He didn't mean to be so moody. Even though Evelyn had died many years ago, the wound was still fresh and Adam couldn't say he'd ever gotten over it.

As Trey often did when he had nothing to do, he found himself starting to drift off. He tended to sleep a lot for the simple fact that he did nothing with his life and could think of no ideas to change that. He was just nodding off with the sound of violin and the motion of the boat when a screech jerked him back out of it again. He glanced up and saw Adam lowering the violin. Did something just happen while he paid no attention? Trey looking around, trying to find an explanation, but he saw none. Maybe it was just a mistake. Even vampires as old as Adam surely was made mistakes too, right?

After so much time passed, Adam's response meant nothing to him so for a minute, Trey just stared in hope he would get an explanation. He did not. When Adam turned away, Trey shifted so he got his feet under him properly. Emotions felt thick in the air and he they left him unsettled. Although he made a big deal about following Adam, he stood and wandered away with the ease. Without looking back, he made his way to the other side of the ship where he curled up against a wall and started to drift off again. The air here felt a little more fresh. The warmth of his clothes seemed a little more noticeable.

Ah, it was true after all--a little time spent with others was best followed by a lot of time alone especially if they ceased to entertain him. He wondered once again why he felt the need to follow this other vampire to Paris and just how everything would turn out. He wanted to change and he didn't. But he never one regretted following Adam.

Though Adam's back faced Trey, he never stopped listening carefully to see what Trey was doing. Though Adam liked to pretend he had everything together in his life, the truth couldn't be further. But somewhere in the back of Adam's mind, he'd hoped that by him helping Trey, and by him maybe even becoming friends with Trey, it would fill that empty void in the pit of his soul where Evelyn used to be.

It got rather quiet behind Adam, but he didn't need to turn around to know what Trey was doing. They had been sailing for quite some time. In a few hours it would be light out and he and Trey would probably need to find shadows to hide in. Hopefully they'd reach Paris before dawn. The waters were pretty empty of other ships, still, Adam didn't get his hopes up. Trey was probably tired, it was getting late for them.

He could tell Trey was tired and he had his theory confirmed when he could hear Trey get to his feet and walk away. Adam didn't look at Trey as he left, and he imagined Trey didn't look back at him either. For a while Adam stared at the stars, lost in them. He told himself he wouldn't go off chasing Trey and waking him up until they'd reach Paris, which would hopefully be soon. Adam was starting to get tired, himself.

Adam longed to reach Paris. He'd already planned on finding a job and a decent place to live outside of Paris in a secluded home with plenty of shadows and no neighbors. But first, his mind was set on a meal. He'd probably arrive in Paris and pick off a wandering lady of the night, or a homeless man... The typical dregs of society that no one would miss if they were to suddenly disappear. He fantasizes about it for a while before he too began to doze off a little.

It seemed like only seconds after Adam closed his eyes, he felt a gentle shake on his shoulder and he immediately jumped to his feet and snarled. It was only the ship's captain and the man had told Adam they'd arrived in Monteparnasse. A quiet neighborhood of Paris, filled with artists of all kinds from all around the world. A perfect place to share his musical tribute to Evelyn.

Adam nodded towards the man and quietly walked to the other side of the boat. He didn't touch Trey, he just hoped the sound of his voice would be enough to wake the younger man and if not, then he'd resort to touching.

"Wake up, Trey." Adam spoke as loudly as he could without screaming. "We're here."

Any thoughts plaguing Trey drifted away when he closed his eyes. He found himself drifting in peace, always able to put aside his worries about others with ease. He didn't know how long he slept, but the lull of the boat changed, bringing him slightly back to the world of wakefulness. The sound of a voice reached him next, which Trey promptly ignored. He dragged the sweater up over his head and turned away like the picture of a petulant child. It wasn't that he didn't wake easily, but that he didn't listen well to others.

Only when the actual words hit him did Trey open his eyes, although he stayed where he was under his sweater hiding place. "Paris?" he questioned, trying to discern all the information with his one word question. They were at Paris? It was good, and he needed to go, and why did he have to move? It didn't smell like he imaged Paris might. Trey closed his eyes again and decided he was done. This spot right here was far more appealing, both quiet and dark. He let out one more huff. "Don't wanna."

Adam frowned. Though, he rather pitied Trey. Poor thing was probably used to traveling and moving from place to place, it was probably refreshing to finally be able to rest for a change. Still, he wouldn't, wouldn't let Trey stay on this awfully filthy (in his opinion) and smelly boat. Adam let out a long, though soft, sigh and reached out to gently shake the younger man.

"You'll have plenty of chance to rest once we're in town." Adam wanted to emphasis that once they were on land, he'd certainly find them a decent place to take shelter. Perhaps one where poor Trey could actually get some good sleep. Adam shook Trey again, "I promise, you'll get plenty of sleep once we're on land."

Adam was tired himself, he truly didn't feel like using too much effort to convince Trey to get up and step off the boat. Though, he was hopeful that it wouldn't take too much effort anyway. Yeah, Trey probably didn't get much chance to rest and he felt comfortable in his little corner, but there was a world of comfortable beds with comfortable sheets and pillows that Trey was missing. He couldn't just sit by and watch as a (possible) new friend just missed out on a chance to sleep comfortably for a change.

Adam fully understood the life of a vagabond, having been one too often in the past. It wasn't as exciting or fun as he'd been led to believe. The man who owned the boat came into Adam's view as the man walked across the deck... Adam didn't really see what the man who doing, though he'd assumed he probably came to see if Adam and Trey had departed. A sudden fear rose inside of Adam's chest, the memory of watching Evelyn being slaughtered and her body thrown to the wayside made him feel a strange urge to protect Trey from the big, bad world out there.

Adam growled softly in his throat as he glared daggers into the man's back. The man ended up walking away, back into the small area of controls, no doubt. Adam's gaze softened a little and he looked at Trey... The man was so young, he couldn't possibly leave him to fend for himself. Not while humans were still unpredictable and unfair when it came to treatment of those they found to be "different". Adam sighed again, and paused to wait for Trey to get up.

Adam continued to lurk nearby, speaking and ruining Trey's sleepiness with his presence. It wasn't even so much that he was tired as just done. He couldn't explain the feeling well, but it's grip on him loosened. He blinked eyes open to look at Adam as he heard a growl. Why? Toward whom? He never sensed the ship captain come near so he mistook the growl to be for him. With that, Trey dragged himself up, hiking the sweater up over his shoulders. His blue eyes locked onto Adam with nothing short of ice, his face painted in grumpiness.

"You're making a face," he stated before starting toward the dock without pausing for the other vampire. Adam wore such a strange expression though, the sort that made him feel uneasy. Just not uneasy enough to leave the other man's side because the city made him feel uneasy. It smelled strange and he stopped a few feet away from the ship to observe. Though it was night, the town gave the feeling of something quaint. The warm glow of lamp lights danced over the water's surface, leading down to the streets and patches of grassy area.

"This is Paris?" Somehow, he thought it would be bigger.

When Trey mentioned to Adam that he was making a face, Adam softened his glare a little. Just a little. To be frank, Adam was already feeling uneasy about being in Paris, normally he'd be fine, but with Trey following him, (or rather, him dragging Trey along) he felt the overbearing urge to nestle and protect Trey. After all, Trey's scent reminded him so much of Evelyn. Though, he couldn't tell if it was because he actually smelled like Eve, or if because Eve smelled like vampire.

Regardless of the reason, the bottom line was that Adam felt a strange connection to Trey. Perhaps even a strange obsession with the young man. Trey was a companion, something Adam desperately needed but was too proud to admit. Adam looked at Trey, not saying anything but simply walking off the dock, listening carefully to see if Trey was keeping up.

"Stay close." Adam wanted to say more. Like, be careful, Trey, this is Paris it's a huge city and if you're not careful you could be hurt, but no such luck. Adam sucked in a breath, taking in Trey's scent and enjoying it quite a bit. He was so much like Evelyn, indeed. Adam picked up his bag, taking off towards the dimly lit, yet still somehow very bright, streets. Adam walked slowly so that Trey could keep up.

As he came closer to the lamp posts, Adam noticed that there weren't too many people out and about. Of course, Adam's first plan of action would be to secure a place to sleep. Hopefully someplace comfy. Adam remembered Paris when the lamps were filled with gas lights. It was amazing to see how much has changed. Adam continuously checked behind his back to see if Trey was there. Of course, part of the plan of action would be to get Trey someplace safe to sleep, something... er, someone to eat and some new clothes.

"Here." Adam pointed to a dainty little apartment complex with a couple of lights shining through open windows. "I promised you a place to sleep, you can sleep there."

Trey eyed Adam, then the city for a second before falling into step behind him. This time it seemed the taller man considered him because he step was slower and Trey didn't have trouble keeping up even with his arms crossed and his gaze never higher than Adam's waist. He didn't feel a need to explore the city with his eyes. Even so, he couldn't ignore the sounds and smells of it that wafted to him. Mostly, it smelled of water, but the further they walked, the more it smelled of people and cigarette smoke, the damp air above promising rain later.

"This?" Trey asked, a bit taken aback. He normally wandered with no plan, sleeping however he could, but he also felt glad to have Adam plan some things for him. Truth was though, after waking up cranky, he didn't feel much tired anymore. He decided not to say so. After all, Adam seemed to have impressions about him and he didn't care to fix them. "Fine. There aren't people here are there?" He preferred an abandoned place and the new city still left his senses confused.

He stopped next to Adam, finally lifting his eyes in order to gaze at the apartment complex. It didn't seem so bad after all so he started toward it then stopped again. Trey didn't look back over his shoulder and his gaze returned to the ground again, but beckoned with one hand, trying to hurry Adam up. On second thought, he didn't want to enter somewhere new alone.

Adam was slow to respond to Trey's query. People? Truth was there probably were, after all it was an apartment complex. However, Adam assumed, like many Parisians, that the people here worked during the day, which was the time Adam slept, and they stayed in their apartments at night, which was when Adam worked. He never saw very much if the people who lived in his building while he was in Calais. He didn't think that would change with the city either.

Adam slowly closed the gap between himself and Trey. A more sinister idea forming in his head, he finally responded to Trey, "Not for long." Adam brushed passed Trey and walked into the building. He didn't have a plan, he would just trust his luck that someone would have left the safety of their home and Adam would attack them, drink them, then proceed to take over their living space. Adam's hunger was so insatiable, he often did things like this where he'd kill whoever happened to be walking by. It would probably be his downfall.

Adam quickly glanced over his shoulder at Trey, only for a second, then went back to stalking the halls. Moving quickly, yet stepping very lightly that he didn't make any sound. There was an open door at the end of the hall, Adam only hoped whoever had left the door open lived in their own. Which, was likely, it was a big city, many families had lived in houses rather than apartments. Adam's hunger took the better of him yet again, and without much grace, he swiftly crossed the doorway and found that the person in the apartment was, in fact, a woman. She was sleeping soundly in a chair in her kitchen, probably fell asleep there after a long days work.

Without much sound, Adam approached her and mercifully killed her quickly, her eyes never opened, though she did make a strangled gasp as Adam's teeth sunk into her flesh. She tasted wonderful, if that said anything about her. When he was satisfied, he let her body slide to the tiled kitchen floor and he sauntered into the shadows of another room, just searching the place for any remnants that would suggest she had family or friends who might come looking for her.

"Trey." Adam called. He waited patiently for Trey to come inside and have something to regain his energy. He left the woman on the floor for Trey to find. Adam didn't think much of it, he thought he was being pretty generous.

Trey followed Adam into the building, feeling a little cautious. He didn't quite get what Adam meant. At first, he didn't think it mattered and expected them to come to a room where they could lodge, but it didn't seem that was the plan after all. Adam walked with the wrong kind of movement, incomprehensible movement. It took Trey a full minute to realize he stalked. It was nothing like what Trey did and that made it a little fascinating, but he really didn't get it. Not until they they came to the woman's room.

It a heartbeat, Adam killed her and drank his fill. Trey watched from the doorway, his expression unchanged. He long since got used to the ways of a vampire, but it felt strange to watch the act. He never saw anyone feed after all, always being the one to act. Sometime, it looked a little too easy.

After she slid to the floor, Trey stepped up to the body and crouched next to her. Tilting his head, he regarded the woman's lifeless face. Her mouth hung open just slightly, lips a natural red that looked pasty next to the stream of blood. "Does it sound quiet like that? I wonder if it's nice..." For a second, he leaned over her before taking her wrist so he could drink. A tiny person like him had a tiny appetite and seconds later, he already finished and pulled away, looking over to Adam and wondering what he was thinking.

"Why?"

It had been a long night for Adam, and he was sure the sun would come up pretty soon anyway. He only stared at Trey as the young man drank his... Fill. Adam loved the shadows of the room he was occupying. There was a darkness he could feel, which, reminded him a lot of his home, and the days where he was a newly turned vampire. He growled a little as Trey spoke. What did he care if death was quiet? This woman meant absolutely nothing to Adam, she was food, nothing more.

When Trey asked "why", it threw Adam for a loop. Adam turned his back to Trey, choosing not to respond to the question. There wasn't anything in the room to busy himself with anymore, there was a picture of the woman with a man, but from what Adam gathered, they weren't married. The man in the picture would hopefully remain insignificant for a while. No one knew this woman was dead. Not yet. However, when someone comes looking for her, he knew he'd have a good mind to figure out something.

"You are tired." Adam stated. It probably came out sounding more like a demand than a statement. "If you're going to rest, now would be the time to do it." Adam slipped out of the room, brushing passed Trey in the process. "Don't worry, it's safe." For now. As much as Adam had originally hoped to help Trey, he realized he was probably only going to make life harder for the young man. True, they barely knew each other, but when Adam had met Trey, the young man was wearing old, dirty clothes and didn't seem to mind sleeping wherever he laid his head. Despite all of that, Trey seemed to be content.

Now, Adam was simply dragging Trey along his own wild adventure. Adam was continuously on the run from authorities all across Europe. He lived among the mortals like a snake in a garden and picked them off one by one. When things got too heavy, he fled. Adam groaned at his thoughts. He wished that, at times like these. He could simply stop thinking. "I'll be back." Adam mumbled and he swiftly made his way to the door they came through.

Trey frowned as Adam brushed off his question. He hadn't thought much of why he asked it in the first place. It was less that he wanted an answer from Adam than he wanted to understand this act of killing and Adam in general himself. He fell into the routine of a vampiric life too easily, but why were things this way? Why was Adam, Adam in the first place?

The other man brushed past, commanding something that Trey didn't feel like doing. He didn't understand Trey at all. The thought left his heart skipping one beat, a very strange thing in itself. Why did he feel so anxious that Adam walked away when he normally felt the opposite. Normally he walked away from others himself. "Where...?" He couldn't bring himself to ask the full question, or to move, or make Adam stop. The other vampire brushed past him and with a simple, 'I'll be back," left Trey alone again.

Less than a minute later, he found himself on his feet. He didn't glance back at the woman and slipped out the door after Adam, leaving it bouncing against its frame, not quite slipping closed. He already lost sight of Adam, but that suited him fine. He snuck after the other man, staying back and following with his senses. Never once did he think about why he did it, or just how much he hated venturing out into cities like this one.

Adam tried not to let his mind wander, instead he tried to keep his focus on a list of tasks:
1. Buy a shovel
2. Bury the woman

The sun would be up in another few hours, surely that would be enough time to get those tasks completed. Then, during twilight, he'd quickly make his way back to the apartment and sleep. Adam expected he'd find Trey- Oh... speak of the devil. Adam's sense of smell caught his scent in the air, not terribly far behind. He would never tell Trey, but he certainly loved that man's scent. Perhaps, it was Trey's smell that made Adam so willing to help the young man and protect him. After all, the smell reminded him of her, and gave him the sense that he could finally protect something, since he couldn't protect her.

Adam kept to the shadows and walked quickly at a steady pace to allow Trey to tag along. Adam had only been to Paris maybe once or twice in his life. He wasn't familiar with the streets at all. However, he was certainly glad there wasn't a very active night life here as he'd originally thought. Granted, there were a couple of stragglers walking around on the other side of the street, but Adam kept his distance. He wasn't sure if the humans could smell the blood on his breath.

Adam came to a stop underneath a street lamp. ""Trey..." Adam waited for Trey to come a little closer before speaking again, though, he didn't really give Trey much time to do so before speaking again, "Stay close." If Trey was going to be following him, he may as well be close enough that Adam can keep a good eye on him. Adam never trusted humans as far as he could throw them. Not that there were very many out tonight, Adam just wanted to be sure that Trey would be safe. Though, in the back of his mind, Adam was sure Trey could handle himself more than he gave the man credit.

Okay... where to buy a shovel? Adam studied French in the time he'd been turned, but it wasn't much. He couldn't seem to locate any store that was open this late at night that would sell shovels. Just his luck... The only stores that would maybe sell a shovel was probably closed. He didn't dare come out during the day. Adam groaned. If he couldn't find anything in the next quarter of an hour, he'd return to the apartment and get Trey to help him dig with his hands and they'd bury her the old fashioned, it's-just-like-we're-children-again way.

It didn't look like he was going to find a shovel anytime soon. There was a lot more killing he'd have to do the next night, too. Adam groaned. They'd have to get the body out of there soon, Adam didn't like having his food piling up on the floor, and though he knew humans didn't have very good sense of smell, he was certain that once the body started decomposing, someone would smell it sooner or later. She had to go.

Adam groaned... It appeared they'd have to get rid of her the old fashioned way.

Almost no one wandered the unfamiliar streets besides the two vampires. Every time they did pass someone, Trey skirted them, his heart beating a little faster at the almost contact. He shouldn't have left the hotel. Being alone felt wrong and uneasy, but his anxiety only built and built outside. It wasn't like this before. Maybe because he didn't know Paris? Somehow, the very idea of it panicked him slightly. He knew this feeling well and tagged even closer to Adam, unwilling to be noticed nor alone. That all shattered though when he heard Adam speak.

Stopping dead in the street, Trey look at the other vampire with his cyan eyes wide. He'd been noticed? Worse, he'd been commanded, reeled in closer like he should naturally want that. He did and that made it impossible for him to step closer. Frozen, he watched Adam as he continued with his thoughts and obviously expecting Trey to do as he asked. Just as he stood in utter indecision, a group of late night partiers stumbled through the streets. A loud laugh shattered the silence.

Trey's head whipped to the side. Like no one stood under the lamplight, the three young women wandered toward them. Golden light revealed disheveled clothing and along with it, a slight very unusual scent. Trey couldn't think about that now though. His anxiety already ran high and now it peaked. He stepped back once, his normally closed off expression open. A second later, he tore off through the streets.

Not paying attention to any of it, Trey ran with surprising speed for someone of short stature. Instincts and his senses guided him. The first secluded, small, dark place he found, he collapsed inside. Three walls, silence; he closed his eyes and heard only his heard beat and heavy breath. Go away, go away, go away. It didn't matter that he crouched in the gap beneath some stairway. It was his own little haven.

It surprised Adam when one second he could smell Trey clear as day, then the next his scent was just.. Gone. It wasn't normally in his nature to worry over someone else, but Adam felt a slight panic rise up in his throat as he looked over his shoulder and didn't see Trey anymore. Outwardly, Adam groaned. But inside, Adam was beginning to feel sick with worry. He felt responsible for Trey, after all, it was his fault Trey was being dragged around in the unfamiliar territory which was Paris.

While it was true that Adam probably could have called out to Trey, instead he just changed direction and began to wander, looking for the young man. He was already a stranger in this area with a clear motive to take down as many humans as he possibly could, there was no need to draw attention to himself or to Trey. His sense of smell wasn't as keen as he'd lead others to believe. Not that it wasn't keen, just wasn't what it had once been.

The longer Adam searched the streets, the more worry began to form a lump in his throat. Immediately he feared for Trey's life. He didn't want it to have to come to this, but he'd soon be reduced to asking some of the random passerbys if they'd seen his younger companion. He honestly hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. The further Adam walked, the more smells overwhelmed his nose and the less chance he had of finding Trey. Adam's waking sped up little by little until he found he was near running.

Adam cursed the vampiric blood that ran through Trey's veins and his. Such speed should be impossible, even for a vampire. Adam cursed himself for losing Trey. As much as he pretended that Trey was a burden to him, he honestly did harbor feelings for the young man and it scared him to death knowing that he could be harmed. "Trey!" Adam called.

There was the faint sound of some laughter in the distance brought back to Adam's memory that there were some parties who'd just begun to wander the streets just before Trey's scent had gotten lost in the smells of Paris nightlife. Adam grit his teeth, turning into the direction of the people...

By the time Adam reached the sound where he'd thought he'd heard their laughter, they were nowhere to be seen. Adam growled. It appeared the sounds of their laughter was bouncing off the buildings and splitting the night as it cut through the (mostly) u disturbed silence. Adam was at a loss. He didn't know what to do or how to find Trey, and he wasn't a dog, relying on his senses wasn't going to work.

He'd tried all that he could. Adam made his way back towards the way he'd come, still keeping his eye out for Trey.

Jacob lifted his nose to the cool night air. He couldn't doubt it anymore. Others of his kind entered the city and he could smell their sickly sweet scent like a decaying flower on the Paris streets. Oh yes, he knew the smell and he knew just what that meant for him. The vampire smiled, his fangs showing against thin, but red lips. The real question here was, just whose side were these newcomers on?

Jumping from the top of the church he stood on, he moved with the wind, looking more like a dark shadow to any who might see him pass. Though the ones likely to be out at this hour already knew of him intimately. Those young men and women of the city who craved the attention of a vampire and stumbled home 'drunk' in the dead of night. They knew his sweetness better than any. Jacob owned this city and everyone in it, human and vampire alike, for he had followers of both kinds. Those that passed into Paris went through him first. And these two would be no different.

Following the scent, Jacob reached the apartment building still reeking of newly spilt blood. Such amateurs. Unnoticed, he slipped into the room where the dead women lay on the floor. He bent down and lifted her hand to his lips. "I hope they thanked you for the lovely meal," he murmured, pressing a kiss to the back of her cold hand. "Forgive me, but I can't indulge further tonight. Otherwise, we might both drown in sweetness forever."

Tasting the skin just slightly, he savored it for a few seconds before setting it back on the floor. Jacob sensed one of the other vampires returning so he slipped back into the shadows, waiting for the newcomer to return. It seemed they would have words before the sun rose yet.

The second Adam stepped into the apartment building something smelled... off. It kind of smelled like Trey. But there was something... off. Adam crept into the room where he and Trey had left the woman dead on the floor earlier. He was on high alert, but still kept an open mind that perhaps the new smell was Trey, maybe he'd been covered in a different scent that muddled his and made him smell different? Adam kept himself open to the possibility.

Adam took careful steps further into the apartment, now sensing the presence of someone else. He wasn't sure, was this Trey? He hadn't met anyone quite with the same smell except for Evelyn. While, it was true, this new smell smelled like Evelyn, it wasn't as... nostalgic. Adam didn't say anything as he entered.

He thought of calling for Trey, in case it really was the young man he was looking for and maybe he was just being paranoid. But, if in case he was right, he didn't want the other to know about Trey. Adam stood a few feet away from the doorway and listened carefully. He was sure if it were Trey, he would have shown himself by now.

"Who are you?" Adam asked. No point in playing dumb, Adam felt he needed to know who this stranger was. It was obviously another vampire... Maybe they knew were Trey was? Adam wasn't sure if he could trust this stranger just yet.

Listening and waiting as the other vampire neared, Jacob didn't bother trying to mask his presence. He learned the skill once upon a time, but found little need for it in a world he owned. He feared nothing, even the unknown. From the shadows, he could see the vampire stop not far from the doorway. The man looked handsome, even elegant perhaps, and older than the usual baby vampire that wandered into Paris and he took under his wing. Whether young or old looking, a fledgling vampire never quite felt the same as an old one in his ancient eyes.

But it seemed he'd been figured out so Jacob stepped out of the shadows with a smile on his face. "My name has been many things, but you may call me Jacob. I am the one who lays claim to the shadows of Paris and a vampire like you. Though you've no doubt guessed that now," he added in polite and very proper tone, tinged just slightly with a London accent under his thicker French one. Bowing slightly, he continued to smile.

"When I sensed two vampires enter the city, I just had to come meet them myself. But I wonder..." He looked around, seeming lost. "Where is your companion? If in fact, you are companions." His voice tinted just slightly with danger at the last question though he remained the picture of pleasant. Most would brush off such a discrepancy. Jacob knew the second vampire wasn't near though. No doubt, one of his followers had sniffed the vampire out and greeted them by now.

Sho yawned, fangs lightly catching the light from a street lamp. Man, he had gotten sick and tired of waiting around. Frowning slightly, the scents around him were making him more and more want to sink his teeth into something...literally. He was hungry, plain out and flat hungry. Left alone was not always a good thing, especially in this state. A slight smirk formed on his lips, yellow eyes seemed to glow a bit in the darkness. Well fine then, if they were not going to show, than he was going to get his needed meal his own way. He pushed off the post of the lamp, stepping out onto the street.

Bodies of a few people moving to and fro in the natural bustle of things. Few even gave the other a second glance. Fine with him, he didn't need the annoying attention. He noted a female, walking alone down the street. She seemed distracted, not even paying attention to the world around her. Perfect for him. He fell into line with her, staying just a bit back. He did not want to spook her, or set her off. He followed her along towards another street, one which seemed like it was less populated. He slipped off the direct route, moving a bit more into the shadows as she walked. Now that they were alone, things would be easier.

It wasn't that he minded the crowd, but the other might not be to happy if he made a scene of things right now. He chuckled under his breath, moving along as he paused on a street corner. He could all but smell the scent of her blood running through her veins. She was vulnerable, which would make her easy to take in the end. He made his way over to her from behind, the female not noticing the quiet man approaching from behind her. He smiled, before he pressed close behind her. A hand moving around her mouth, the other around her waist. She tensed, seeming to go rigid beneath his hold.

He didn't mind a bit of a struggle, it made it more fun in the end. He stepped back, leading her with him into the shadows of an ally. She tried to struggle, pulling against his grip. The fight would do nothing, she would go down in the end. His fangs fully shown within his smile, he could feel the warmth of her form against him. He opened his mouth, wasting no time in sinking the sharpened fangs into the base of her neck and shoulder. A slight scream formed against his hand, before she went light headed and a bit slate against him. The taste flowing across his tongue, he took in what he desired.

At first, Adam thought it would be okay to let his guard down. This stranger didn't seem... It was when he mentioned his 'companion' that Adam's guard immediately went back up and he found himself on high alert once more. Adam found he wasn't quite sure what to make of Jacob. He seemed cunning. Adam only stared at him, finding himself speechless and unsure about how much information he should trust Jacob with.

Adam must've been suddenly struck by some sort of fortunate (or else, not so fortunate) beams. After spending years in isolation he was suddenly being bombarded with the knowledge of there being many other vampires besides himself and Trey. It bewildered Adam, though, he guessed that it would have been sooner or later that he found more vampires out there.

"What do you want with me?" Adam wasn't one for beating around the bush. This stranger broke into his personal space, telling him that he owned him... The entire situation seemed very unsavory. The sooner Adam figured out what this vampire wanted the better. Hopefully then, the sooner Jacob would leave...
