Ouran High

Ouran High is a school usually reserved for the impossibly wealthy, the exception being the single honor student given a scholarship each year for their intellect. It is a place of extravagance and elegance, but also a place where the student body often has too much time on their hands. For this purpose existed the Ouran Host Club, where beautiful young students entertain other members of the student body in elegant tea parties and other events outside school hours.

The club that was once established and lead by Tamaki Suou floundered for a years but once again is flourishing. It is now lead by his son Takumi and his daughter. His son tried to run the club alone at first but has no head for business, and soon the clubs finances were in shambles. He invited his twin sister Takara to join the club and even start a section of female hosts, if she would just manage the finances for him. She agreed and the club has flourished a year under her management. A new year has started, will it continue to flourish and romance bloom?

The Day Starts
Classes had been over for around twenty minutes so the school was relatively peaceful. Club members were happily setting up their activities, while other students were heading for various destinations. Some were heading to the library to study, some were heading home, and many were heading to the music room where the Host Club held its daily activities. The Club was decorated in an English style, almost Victorian in nature, today. The hosts were not wearing costumes today as today was more a day to settle into the groove of things and greet old costumers… who had hopefully brought along a few friends.

Quote:
Takumi, Host
Takumi sat at his regular table as he absently fixed himself a cup of tea and waited for his guests to arrive. He could hear Kara playing her violin and smiled to himself as he closed his eyes to listen. She was the one who had inherited his father’s musical inclinations and he always half envied her for it. He tilted his head to the side slightly, the ponytail his long blond hair was always in sliding delicately to the side.

After he had listened a few moments he raised his tea to his lips only to make a face. He hadn’t put in enough sugar. He quickly corrected his mistake quickly and soon was contently sipping his tea once more. He always drank especially sweet tea before a performance… which in his case was any time he was not alone or with Kara. Still, he lived to perform, to act. It was his art, his passion, his love.

Quote:
Kara, Host
Kara had already given each host their schedule so had little to do but sit at her table and wait now. She was very efficient so had them already ready each day and needed only to pass them out. She had also already prepared the sweets so there was nothing to do. Never able to have idle hands this meant a problem for Kara. The problem was quickly remedied by her pulling out her violin and beginning to play.

The song she played was gentle, soft, almost lonesome. It was the kind of tune that made one wonder what was in the heart of the player, which knowing her calculating mind was likely deliberate. She was the kind to plan out every motion, every word, even how to turn her head so her long hair would lay just so. Only once the guests began to arrive would she put the instrument away, handling it as if it were made of glass as she did so.

The archery club wasn't meeting today, and Kiri was in no hurry to get home, so he found himself wandering the halls of the school for a little while. Of course he had heard of the host club, everyone had heard of it one way or another. Girls gushed about it but Kiri wasn't sure where the club held it's activities, though he wasn't very interested anyway. It seemed the kind of thing for girls. Kiri would have continued along his way, passing by a specific music room, the sound of a violin caught his ear, though muffled as it was. For a few moments he hesitated by the door. He knew the music club didn't meet in this room. The shy teen lingered there for a few moments, took a deep breath and slowly opened the door of that music room.

Quote:
Takumi, Host
As the boy entered it was clear he had not planned to come here, and one glance at his sister showed he wasn't on the schedule so this confirmed it. Still the schedules were light and no one had showed up yet so it wasn't any bother. He glanced towards his sister, giving her a smile and holding out a hand to indicate she should stay seated and he would handle it. As always she gave him his wish and simply continued her gentle playing of the violin. Takumi knew her well enough to guess what she was thinking. It had lured in this boy like a sirens call so perhaps it would bring more guests. He chuckled to himself, knowing that as always she was worried about having enough guests to ensure they could stay in business.

Bah! he had no energy to waste on such practicalities. The 'prince' of hosts stood, sweeping to stand before the rather shy looking boy who had entered. He would bow gracefully, if dramatically, dropping to one knee and indicating the room with a flourish. He spoke as he bowed, his voice like velvet as he invited the other man in. There was no reaction from the rest of the hosts in view so this was likely normal behavior from Takumi and they had grown use to it.

"Please, our handsome guest come in. Everyone is welcome here, though I will admit I do hope it is my table you grace. Do you like sweets? or Tea? What is your preference? He entreated the other male softly, standing with the same grace with which he had bowed. He would take the other males hand by the barest touch of his fingertips, light as a feather as he would tug him gently inside. He would point towards various hosts and say their 'types' though subtly. For example with his sister he said her guests often enjoyed mysterious smiles and quiet grace.

Kiri's breath caught in his throat for a moment, his eyes flickering this way and that as he took in how the music room was decorated and the lack of instruments. Lack of instruments except the violin in the hands of a blonde girl. What had he just stumbled upon? Then he was being approached by a blonde boy, Kiri almost stepped away from the teen. Blinking and watching as the other bowed gracefully and dramatically. A blush colored Kiri's cheeks almost instantly when the other called him handsome. "...I..." Kiri almost flinched when the other reached out to tug him inside, the teens touch was so light. Gentle.

As the blonde more or less introduced the other hosts, Kiri realized he had stumbled upon the host club. Taking in the appearances of those here and the male beside him, he could understand why the girls gushed and acted so bubbly when they spoke of this club. Slowly the blush was fading from his cheeks, he began to move away from the dramatic blonde. "I..I'm not sure I belong here.." The words were spoken quietly as he glanced towards the door.

Quote:
Takumi, Host
"If our meager efforts can bring you any sense of happiness, any sense of comfort you belong here for as long as you desire. I entreat you my shy prince, do give us a chance." Takumi responded, his voice sounding so sincere, so pleading. He wrapped his hand around the other man's fingers and then held his gripping hand to his own chest in an almost courtly seeming gesture, as if a knight about to make an oath to his maiden fair. He had easily noticed the blush and gathered the man did indeed find him...attractive. Accordingly he would flirt just as he would with a woman, even if he told himself it was an act and that he, himself, was straight. Still, It was an irony really. Ever since his sister had brought female hosts homosexual and bisexual male students seemed much more comfortable coming here. Perhaps because they could say they had come to admire the women, even as they sat with men.

"Even if you must go momentarily some tea to calm your nerves is at least in order, a humble apology from our club for startling you." He added now and soon was using the hand he'd captured to guide Kiri to his table. He pulled out a chair with his free hand and said a soft please sit, his body language and subtle positioning making it nearly impossible for Kiri to refuse to sit. Takumi was not a short man by any means so it was often easy to do such things. As he did so he was already busying his hands to make the other man a cup of tea and asking how he liked it and so on. It was all so quick and smooth and careful, designed to get kiri into the chair and taking the tea before the shy man could think to much about what he was doing.

Kiri wasn't quite sure how to respond to the other's words. The way he spoke, his movements it was all rather dramatic and a little hard for Kiri to respond to. Well, hard for him to respond to in a way that didn't involve running for the door. He couldn't escape though, the blonde was holding his hand and his actions only made Kiri blush a bit more. Though before he could fully understand what was happening, Kiri found himself seated at a table and being asked about tea.

When had that happened? Kiri blinked for a few moments and stared at the blonde. "...But..." He started, then just chewed his bottom lip and looked down at the table. What was he supposed to do, what exactly did this strange person want from him? Kiri was still blushing, but it seemed to be slowly going away for now, at least. His light brown eyes moved from the table to watch the blonde boy almost warily.

Takumi, Host
"Oh my dear, Do you not like tea?" Takumi asked softly, seeming genuinely worried or even hurt over the idea. Then again, to him, not liking tea was near sacrilege. He put one hand on the table and leaned on the other as his hand hovered over the freshly poured cup, where it had been earlier waiting for Kiri's preferences in tea. He seemed ready to dash off and grab anything else the other male preferred, always the perfect host.... if you liked persistence anyway. Then again that was just another one of the differences between he and his sister. He always seemed to be chasing something and she always seemed to be waiting for something.

Quote:
Aya, Guest and Host Club Florist
Aya entered the club with her usual grace, her hair half pinned up in a bun and half trailing behind her. She wore lilies in her hair today along with a few beaded strands that came from the pins holding the flowers at one side of the bun. She always wore some type of flower decoration, often with Lilies simply because she thought the white with the gold fronds matched the uniform well. She had been heading to one of the tables when she noticed something that to her was simply not allowed! Something had caused the flowers at Takumi's table to be disarranged in their vase! Instantly she swept to his table to fix them, overhearing the last few words. She was too focused on this to hear it as Takumi murmured a soft 'welcome m'lady' as he always did.

"Oh, hello. I don't recognize you. My name is aya" the friendly young woman said to Kiri as she fixed the flowers, shifting the placement of two flowers. No one else would likely notice the difference but to her it was a disaster for such a thing to be! She stepped back a moment and nodded, giving a satisfied sigh as she did so. She then noticed how nervous Kiri looked and on instinct gave him a small sweet smile as she sat next to him and gave his shoulder a gentle, comforting squeeze. She pulled two cakes from a tray, offering one to him.

"I know he can be a bit overwhelming on your first visit, huh? Still, it's worth coming here just for the sweets. Why don't you try this cake? Might make you feel better. Can I ask your name?" she asked innocently. She knew Takumi could lay it on thick... though being her that did not mean she thought he was faking it or anything, merely that he liked to make people feel good about themselves. To her that was an admirable goal and looking at Kiri she had a feeling he could use such a thing.

Quote:
Irina, Guest
Irina entered slowly, the same expressionless look in her face as always. She glanced at Takumi and rolled her eyes as she saw him fawning over a male and 'flower girl' as she called her. She shuddered and moved to lean against the wall near the window. She wanted to make sure the host she intended to visit was free enough. Things seemed quiet enough at the moment and Kara was playing her violin so all and all it was a rather peaceful place. She released a sigh of relief, preferring it when there were fewer girls here. There were always so many and so loud!

Quote:
Kara, Host
Kara continued to play as no guests had arrived at her table, her eyes closed. Still even with her eyes closed she heard the two women enter and glanced over. Irina... she had done enough to know the woman had many secrets and it was best not to try to force her into anything and just let her do things her own way. Accordingly she ignored her and her gaze shifted to Aya She was unsure if Aya approaching was the best for the shy male... He seemed already overwhelmed and Aya while delightful wasn't shy. Still perhaps she could help divert Takumi's attention and help calm the shy boy. For the moment Kara would wait as she watched and continued to play without missing a note. If the shy male seemed too overwhelmed she could always go distract Aya with questions about the flower arrangements, that always got her.

Kiri fidgeted in his seat, lips parting to say something and then promptly closing as a female approached the table and began to shift some flowers around. His hands in his lap and he gripped his pants a little tightly. Something solid to hold on to, an anchor of sorts. He glanced from the blonde boy to the girl, Aya, seeming very uncertain. No one paid this much attention to him usually, especially people he didn't know. Kiri had no idea what to do with himself, and he was blushing slightly with embarrassment again.

When Aya reached out to place her hand on his shoulder, Kiri almost flinched away from the touch. Almost but he stopped himself from doing it, he couldn't stop the slight wince when she gave his shoulder what should have been a comforting squeeze. He released his hold on his pants with one hand so that he could take the offered cake gently from Aya, setting it down carefully in front of himself. He looked at it for a moment, then at Aya. "...Kiri...My name is Kiri." That light brown gaze shifted to the blonde boy that was hovering about the tea. "...Honey..I take my tea with honey....if that's alright?" He spoke the words quietly and a little uncertainly. Shifting slightly in his seat, and gripping his pants tightly again with both hands.

((I'ma make a second male host in a minute >.>... to balance out things. I just had all these girls i had in my head i wanted to play *flails*))

Quote:
Takumi, Host
"Of course Prince Kiri! do you like the cake? My sister has them flown in from all over Europe." He said with enthusiasm as the other male requested honey. He easily prepared the tea and sat it next to the other male before he seated himself in his usual chair. He beamed at the other male even as he leaned forward on his hands as he interlaced his fingers and gave the other male his full attention a moment. He had fallen into his role and he honestly couldn't stop despite the fact that it was obvious that his intense case would likely make him even more nervous.

Quote:
Aya, Guest and Host Club Florist
"Kiri? There's a hindu name Kiri that means flower. How pretty! I always wonder what kind of flower they had in mind." Aya couldn't help herself from gushing. She was hopelessly obsessed with flowers, so naturally any time one gave her an opportunity to say something about flowers she would. She probably could have prattled on further but she realized she was doing it again and blushed deeply. She turned to her cake then, not looking at either man a moment. She began to eat the cake quietly since it was one of her favorites and it gave her an excuse to hide.

He should have just gone out into the school's garden and read some poetry, that's what he should have done. But he hadn't done that and now he was in this overwhelming situation and had no idea what to do. Kiri's eyes were on the blonde, that blue eyed male was giving him his full attention and Kiri had no idea what to do with that attention. Kiri was blushing, Aya was saying things about his name. Had she called him pretty, or was she referring to his name, or did she just mean flowers in general?

These people certainly were strange. Kiri released his grip on his pant's legs and picked up the small fork. He glanced from Aya to the blonde who's name he still didn't know, then he looked down at the cake. Considering it for a moment. Kiri didn't eat very much sweets. His father was strict about that sort of thing, so he hesitated for a moment before he dipped his fork into the soft dessert and took a small bite. It was delicious.

Sweet, a little too sweet, but it probably just seemed that way to him because he wasn't used to that sort of thing. Still he thought it was delicious. Kiri set his fork down after that one small bite, but his outward expression didn't show that he had hated the cake. He couldn't help but wonder if these people would get upset at him for not eating all of it.

"Is the cake not to your liking? We do have tarts and other desserts that are less sweet. I am sure we can find something to suit the prince's delicate palate" Takumi fussed, as always concerned with his guests. Aya he didn't fuss over as much simply because she was already a consistent guest... if she often switched hosts. She was a wanderer and seemed more interested in making friends then anything. No, Kiri was far more interesting because he didn't know why he was here. Then again, Takumi was not all to sure Kiri did either.

Aya, Guest and Host Club Florist
Aya watched the two men, unsure what to do. The boy seemed so shy... she wanted to make him feel better but didn't know how. She ate her cake with an inward frown as she tried to think of something to say. She may have said something but then she saw Devon... messing with her flower arrangements again. Not changing them no, he just had this habit of pulling one out to make an impromptu poem and similar things.

"Excuse me...We should talk again sometime Kiri" She murmured softly, giving him a warm smile before she headed for the table he was sitting at. She quickly headed to devons table to put her hands on his shoulder and peer up at him with puppy dog eyes. She would then quietly beg him to put the flower back, talking about the asthetic of the arrangement. This was of course something they'd gone through ever since she'd been found by Kara in the middle school section and started arranging the flowers.

Devon, Host
A rose, So soft-" Devon had began, about to speak some poem about it and thorns. Though he spoke of the rose, for his own protection, he had half composed the poem from the sight of it and the red headed Irina. She often sat at his table but always seemed immune to his poetry, immune to everything and everyone. It was as if she had herself wrapped in thorns all the time, or so he now had thought in passing as he'd spotted the rose. As Aya approached and touched his shoulders he pouted at her slightly... only to respond smoothly.

"Aya, you know the beauty of flowers better then anyone. Besides if you did not pick them so perfectly I would not be so inspired so you've no one to blame but yourself."

Irina, Guest
Irina watched as Aya approached and once again the two squabbled. It was actually funny, she'd only been at Ouran a week and already she'd seen them have this same discussion twice. Still she suppressed the urge to chuckle and rolled her eyes instead. She walked over to the two and plucked the rose from Devon's fingers easily before she placed it back where it belonged. She knew by simply glancing at the nearby tables arrangements. She then took her seat at the table and began pouring her own tea. She always did, never allowing anyone else to even the host.

For half a moment Kiri looked startled at the idea of being offered some other sweet. Even a tart. He shook his head ever so slightly. "...No...this is fine...I'm sorry, I meant no offense." He slowly picked the fork up again, blinking and looking to Aya as she excused herself, he nodded ever so slightly at her but he seemed to relax a bit once she was gone. Now there was less attention on him, that was why he had relaxed somewhat when Aya excused herself and left them.

Kiri was blushing again as his gaze settled on the blonde, "...You seem so eager to shower attention on me, but you didn't pay much attention to Aya...isn't that a bit rude?" He hadn't meant to say it quite like that, but Kiri was an honest creature. Honest and shy and sometimes the two things did not make a good combination. After the soft words had left his lips, Kiri seemed to almost flinch back, to shy away a bit without even really moving. His gaze had dropped to the cake and his fingers around the fork's handle had tightened just a bit.

Takumi, Host
Good, I was worried I had allowed something unpleasant to pass through such fine lips, such a travesty of justice i would not be able to forgive myself..." He responded to the first, reaching forward as if to touch said lips but simply sneaking a bit of icing of Kiri's cake instead. He smiled warmly at his 'prince' then and licked it from his own finger. He nodded as if satisfied it was worthy of Kiri and dropped his hand. As the other male spoke his actor facade briefly fell to be replaced by shock. Usually people were happy to be the sole beneficiary of his attention. Still, he was soon back in his role and a sheepish smile came to his face, even with a blush and all the humility embarrassment can bring.

"Did I do such a thing? I shall have to apologize later but I'm sure she will understand how such a handsome prince could momentarily dazzle me and cause me to forget myself." He said with just the right touch of horror and torture, even turning his head slightly and putting it in his hand. He had ignored Aya mainly and he knew it. Still, it was for a simple reason... she was what he and his sister called a 'wanderer'. That is she wandered from host to host, and he was simply not her 'host of the week' so wouldn't really get to her.

Every time the blonde spoke to him, it seemed Kiri found himself blushing. Flowery words and flattery seemed to be almost all that left the blue eyed males lips, that and an over use of drama. Especially the way Takumi was reacting to what Kiri had said about being rude. He frowned ever so slightly, watching the blond almost carefully for a few moments before he distracted himself by taking another, small, bite from his cake. Still delicious and still too sweet, two bites was enough for Kiri. He set his fork down.

"...I'm sorry...but I don't think I understand the point of this...club." He was trying not to be rude and slowly he reached for his cup of tea. Bringing it to his lips for a few small sips before he set it back down. His hands going to rest in his lap.

Takumi, Host
For a moment Takumi turned to simply gaze at him. The horror and shock faded to be replaced by a puzzled but thoughtful smile. Briefly he simply stared at him before seeming to fall to something further away. The point of this club was as simple as it was complex, to bring happiness to all it touched. His father had made it a place to bring joy to girls so he could see smiles, even if they were not the smile he truly wanted to see, and to bring together a family for himself. His sister had expanded on that ideal, saying men deserved happiness too.... though Takumi instinctively knew it was more bringing happiness to him and to see him shine that she worked so hard.

"The purpose of this club is to bring happiness, to spread joy and smiles and dreams because everyone deserves to be happy. That was the purpose my father started it for when he was at Ouran and it is a purpose me and my sister Kara proudly continue. We too want to see everyone smile.... though I am not so sure I am unworthy of yours." Takumi's gaze returned to the other male as he spoke, the last self debasing comment as always filled with the silky voice of the 'prince' and the soft whispers of suggestion. Still even as he plied the other male with the compliment it was probably the most genuine thing Takumi had ever said in the club. No one ever seemed to ask such a question before...

"Just because someone smiles, doesn't mean they're happy." Kiri had turned his head, looking away from Takumi and just observing the others in the room. His eyes lingered on Irina for a moment, he recognized her from the archery club and even there she seemed so distant and cold. Kiri was sure it would take a great effort for someone to draw a real smile from her. Kiri didn't smile often either, but he tried not to come off as cold and unapproachable. He was just shy. Strangers made him nervous.

His gaze returned to Takumi. "....Do all the hosts romance their customers to gain a smile and fill them with happiness? But what kind of smile and what kind of fleeting happiness can such fake, superficial romance bring to anyone? Surely the happiness is gone as the day ends and everyone departs, so what is the point, really, what's the point of such fleeting dreams that don't last?" Kiri shifted in his seat, truly he wasn't trying to be rude, he was just being honest.

Host: Akihiko

Taking a slow sip of his tea Hiko watched as the first three guest entered the club room. He loved the host club, from Takumi ambushing poor unsuspecting boys at the door to Aya-chan the most familiar face in the room outside of the members of course. Ah Aya-chan as sweet as the flowers she arranged. Such talented girls he got to be around. Thinking of talented young ladies Kara-chan's playing fit the setting of the room since today there was no particular theme.

Setting down the small porcelain cup the tall Furukawa heir stood. He had none of his usual guest yet, a pout pulled at his lips at the thought that his dear little Kai-chan hadn't come yet. Irina-chan was here so he knew that she didn't have Kendo practice. Letting out a long suffering sigh the male host walked closer to violinist. "Your playing is excellent Kara-chan." The dark haired male smiled down at his fellow host er well hostess.

Guest: Kasumi

"Okay the concludes the meeting. Captain Ito should be feeling better by tomorrow. We will resume our regular meeting then." Kasumi with the of the judo class bowed to their co captain as they were dismissed. With out practice to take up her time she would have to either wait in the library or go to the 3rd music room and wait for Hiko to be done with club. She didn't have any problem with the host club in fact she really enjoyed spending time there. It was just...she already dealt with her stupid cousin at home.
Changing out of her practice gi back into her school uniform she sat on one of the benches to undo the thick braid she wore for practice and up into the the high pony tail she wore that day. " So Kasumi what are you doing with our day off?" one of the other few females on the Judo team asked from her locker." The host club." Was her quick response before she she grabbed her bag and made her way towards the door.

Takumi, Host
"Life is but a series of fleeting moments, isn't it more pointless to waste them being unhappy? Still..... False? Takumi responded honestly at first, he saw no reason to spend a moment of the short time one had on earth being unhappy when it was unnecessary. To call an actors actions 'false' was to insult them greatly, and he was no exception. Still, Takumi was not one to fall out of his role but instead fold his emotions into the mold of that role. It was what made him so good, so convincing. He reached out to brush Kiri's cheek with the back of one hand and sighed, his eyes seeming to gain a slight sheen to them as if genuinely hurt that Kiri had said such a thing.

"We offer no promises here, no lies or things so petty as romance. Every man and woman on this earth has some feature that is filled outwardly with a hint of their inner beauty, a host simply brings it out to be admired. Does admiring truth make me false? I have only pointed out a handful of your worthy features and called you a prince in a room where you are. Would not hiding myself and my thoughts be false? I have asked nothing of you but to be allowed to admire for the time you bless on me, I have told you no lie...." Takumi spoke in a soft, hurt, entreating voice. He kept those moist eyes on the other mans, appearing almost as if a great blow had been done to him.

Quote:
Kara, Host
Things had gone as planned until the boy insulted the club. Kara seemed ready to pounce, her notes quickly becoming faster. No one hurt her brother without finding the tiger hidden in the guise of a kitten. Still, Takumi did not drop his role so she decided to watch a moment longer. Before long she was distracted from the scene, a familiar voice in her ear. She glanced up at him and gave him a soft smile, playing a few final notes that would make the tune feel 'finished' instead of harshly ending as was her habit to do.

"Thank you, Furukawa-san, you are sweet as always" She said quietly as she began to put the instrument away as carefully as if it was made of glass. It had been a gift from someone very dear to her and had the most pleasant sound. Every violin had it's own sound, and none to her was the equal of this one. Then again Kara was likely biased. She glanced up, Aya had forgotten to make an appointment as she often did but Akihiko was her host of the week.

Quote:
Aya, Guest and Host Club Florist
Aya was still standing in shock, looking between Irina and Devon who were staring at eachother. If it were anyone else it wouldn't bother her but Irina had always intimidated her. There was an anger in her.... one her cold manner did not hide from the intuitive Aya at all. She felt the urge to run but did not as she heard Kara's violin grow silent. She glanced over towards Kara on instinct only to see 'hiko. She had not noticed him in her rush to rescue first Kiri and then her flowers. Instantly she went towards him, giving him an almost bashful smile.

Hiko-kun! There you are! How has your day been?" She inquired sweetly, shortening his name as she often did. She gave him a warm smile then and clasped her hands in front of her so she could interlace her fingers. She tilted her head slightly, making her seem even more sweet with the way it made her hair fall just so..... but as always the innocent Aya did not do it deliberately. She never really did.
