Dayna watched the male boredly as he went on talking about his own lack of family and how the Vladamir's took him in. She audibly clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she rolled her eyes. The tone in his voice meant nothing to the woman as he verbally reminisced on very old memories. As he finished up his tale, the woman took a slowly breath as she smartly replied, "Proud and determined, looks like that part of the blood still continues on."

She then sighed, taking another sip of her tea. With eyes looking over her cup, she said, "As much of a pity party war as we could have today, I really have no interest in your sob story as you probably don't mine. In the end, even that has nothing to do with my goal."

She set the cup back down on the table, a very light tap sound coming from the wood as she did so. She then extended her arms across the table, fingers weaving together as she stared the male directly in the eye. "All I care about right now is figuring out how to destroy that necklace." Her tone didn't waver as she said, "Then, I'll work on getting rid of your family and restoring my own."

Pulling her arms back towards her as she leaned backwards, she then added, "Sure, you can kill me now, knowing what my plan is but I won't be the last to come." She then closed her eyes slowly nodding her head before adding, "Besides, hasn't your 'forever' been long enough?"

When she opened her eyes, those purple orbs still locked on the male, it was hard to tell what was really going on in them. Was she being coy, sympathetic, or cruel? It was hard to tell, but the one thing that was clear was that the woman was being truthful in her words.

He sighed, closing his eyes for a moment as she spoke. Her words rolling off of him, nothing he had not heard before. He reached up, calmly and casually brushing a bit of hair from his face. "Still a foolish child" he says, "blinded by pride and things you have yet to understand." He looked at her, right in the eyes as she did him. "Verywell, go ahead and try as you might. You will fail like all the others, nothing will change" now it was his turn to look slightly bored, brushing off her threats and her drive. He had seen it all before in others, all were so arrogant and determined when they first came.

Her fire was nothing new at this point. Like all others, it would be extinguished. "I have no interest in killing you" he says, "and of course you wont be the last. Nor are you the first." He had tried to reach out, as he had tried before. But this time was like then, they were always so thick skined and headed. If she persisted, he would do what had to be done, she knew this obviously. "Though you could search forever and never find what you seek" he shrugs, "no one knows where the necklace is now. So you are wasting your time."

He turned away from her, walking over to the door. He flicked it open simply as he passed. "Go ahead and do whatever you want. It is little more than an annoyance, but your pride will not allow you to stop" he did not look back as he walked to the room across the way. Pausing at the door for only a moment. "Our next encounter will be much different however" he turned his head to look back at her slightly. His eyes cold and hardened, icy in nature as they found her's. "Next time you trespass or draw your sword at me I will show you just what kind of monster I can be" with that he disappeared into the next room over.

His words were not really a threat, more like a promise. It came with his duty to protect this place, he would do just that, even if he had no interest in drawing her blood. He would keep the twin castles safe, his home safe. Even if it meant snapping a few twigs along the way. Now alone he sighed slightly, running a hand through his hair. Foolish ideals and arrogance, rushing blindly into something she truly knew little about. She liked to act like she knew it all it seemed, or cared little. He had seen it all before. It was getting old in some cases, perhaps he himself was seeming old in response.

Perhaps he should have left long ago. No, he wouldn't even if he wanted to. Perhaps he should have given up the humanity, himself, along the way as well. Would that make it easier? Would that make all of this any less.....He frowned, glancing at the window. It was going to be dark in awhile. She needed to leave now. Or would she persist and stay, to see if the stories were true? Either way his words still stood, his vows and his duty to Alexander, the Vladamir family and himself.

Dayna sighed, shaking her head as the male left. "He argues like the children," she said to herself. "Always sticking to the same sayings over and over again when you start meeting resistance." Going to take a sip of her teacup, she found it empty. Looking into it, she noted the way the leaves fell. "Do I dare tempt fate?" She asked herself as she looked at them for a moment long.

Setting the cup down, she pushed herself up from her seat. Of course she would tempt fate, regardless to what some tea leaves would say, she had something she had to do. As she stood, she could hear Sir Vincent whinny from outside which drew her eyes to the window. The sun was setting, quickly it seemed at that. A thought came to the woman's mind; if Kuroyami wanted to use threats and promises, she could fight back just as well. A smirk came to her lips as she made her way back to the main hall of the castle, where she had been not too long before.

Walking over to the stairs, she moved halfway up the stone case before stopping, her eyes moving back to the first floor. Dayna tried to imagine what it would have looked like back, hundreds of years ago when it first started. Sure, the place was still awe-inspiring, but no matter how much one cleaned, hundreds of years still took its toll on decorations and appearances.

She made her way up the rest of the stairs and started walking in the direction that she had tossed her bow earlier. She hadn't gotten the weapon back, though it wasn't her usual bow, the fact that it held some history made her wish it returned. Thinking back on it, she had only slid one dagger into her quiver, meaning the other was gone too. Her brows furrowed, that one was one of her usual weapons and if she could only pick for one returned, it would be that dagger. As far as she knew, those two blades held no tie back to her family, she didn't know their past, but they were still trusty weapons.

As she walked down the hallways, she noted how cold they got as the sun was no longer directly on them. The torches on the walls provided some heat, but the place would have been considered too cold with modern heating and air conditioning.

Her hands traced along cold stone wall and hard wood doors, occasionally brushing along cold metal hinges and knobs and rings used to open the doors. She wasn't sure how far she had gone, but turning around, the banister that overhung the main entrance way was no longer visible. She had taken turns here and there and if she were a normal person, she would have felt very lost at that point and probably stopped. Dayna had good wits about her, she was more comfortable exploring (usually outside) than she was staying in some place that was overly familiar.

She did stop though, not because she was lost, but because the door she was next to was partly cracked. While allowing those that were fully closed to retain their secrets for now, this one was open and seeming to invite the woman in. Pushing the door open, its hinges groaned slightly, be once they gave way, a library or study was revealed. There was a large, heavy wooden desk to one side, chairs in front of a fireplace that was only lit with glowing embers. All around the walls were books and old tapestries. Slowly moving in, she noted that the room was empty. Approaching the chairs, she ran her fingers over the old leather and though it was showing signs of age, it was surprisingly well kept and free from dust.

She stopped in between the two chairs and looked towards the fireplace. Hanging above the mantel was a large portrait of a woman, around her next was a beautiful necklace, the stone in the middle being the star of the jewelry. The piece was beautiful, not only the necklace, but the woman and the skill that went into it.

It was not that he had nothing else to say, but he knew most likely she would not listen or hear him. Both stuck in their ways. Her from anger, hatred, pride and more most likely. His from experience, years upon years of the same stories, threats, ideals and more. She could not grasp that or understand all he had been through. Thus to her, it was as if he was merely being childish.

It did not bother him, he had long since given up on having someone truly understand him. Love, family and more were only a dream. Something he could never have. The Cain saw themselves as victims, while the Vladamir as monsters. They could never understand the true extent of what all of this meant. They thought the Vladamir were rolling in power and happiness or something, oppressing them.

They could never know the hunger and pain of being unable to live...truly live. They could not stay in one place for long since they never aged. They could not truly get close to someone, unless they were willing to go through the pain of seeing the other and the world grow old around them before slipping away. To this woman it might have been a sob story but it was true.

She was blinded by her own sadness and pain as well as anger and mortal feelings that the Vladamir often could not have the luxury of anymore. Their worlds had already begun to end and begin just as that necklace came into their lives. He frowned lightly as he could smell her even now. She was there, still, refusing to leave. It was a game to her, she was pushing him. Stubborn and arrogant in her boldness of simply inviting herself into this place.

It was as if she saw it as he being a Vladamir had no rights due to the past or some nature. It was the same way that many of the Cain had treated his people within the past. Like they were always better than them. Even when the necklace had taken hold. It was rumored to have begun with the two brothers. The one who had built the Cain castle and begun their family was the elder of the two, while the one who had begun the Vladamir was the younger one.

Simple sibling rivalry turning into more. He shook his head, moving to the door. His eyes moves to the stairs, watching them for a moment. He moved to them after a moment, stepping up the first few. His ears trained on the sounds around them a bit. He could hear her footsteps, she was moving along upstairs. He did move up though, walking along down the hall. He could smell her scent now spreading upon the wall.

She was moving through the castle without a care, without respect or regard about privacy. He moved silently without word or noise, no one would have heard him coming, especially a distracted trespasser. As he reached the hall, he paused. Along the side one of the doors was open. He narrowed his eyes a bit recognizing the room all to well. It was the study, Alexander's to be exact. A bit of anger and annoyance spurred in his chest. How dare she... He walked over, moving to the door.

She was looking at a picture, over the fireplace. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him. The room falling dark, besides the fireplace. "You should not be in here" he said from beside the door. This place was sacred to him, it was the place of his mentor. The place where the other could speak and have serenity. She had trespassed, this place one of the few rarely disturbed. He would not allow her to defile it.

"That necklace doesn't suit her," Dayna said as the room plunged into darkness, well, not complete darkness. The embers in the hearth seemed to be fighting for their lives and gave off very little in the form of light or heat. She would have a hard time seeing the white haired male unless he was right beside her so given the fact that she couldn't see him out of the corner of her eyes meant he hadn't come too close yet.

Her eyes were locked on the fair skinned woman in that portrait, almost as though she couldn't look away. Granted, she could, but for as stubborn as the woman was, she appreciated old works, though that probably wasn't much of a surprise. "It fights the viewer, trying to take the attention away from the wearer. Blue would have suited her much better, don't you think?"

It was then that Dayna turned her attention towards the darkness that led to the door. She didn't bother moving for if stories were right, even if she moved out of the pitiful glow of the embers, Kuroyami would know full well where she was located. Her fingers locked in front of her rather than resting on the furniture.

She was curious to see his reaction. She knew that he wanted her gone, the whole monster thing gave that away. The room she had picked, though completely at random as the door was open, was a sensitive one. The words she spoke, though they could have been odd for someone of Cain blood, were the truth. Dayna found no use for lies or for hiding things, people learn all so telling them upfront left less room for being hurt later.

A small smile came to her face, not full of malice or evil like her earlier ones, but one of distant amusement. She turned, her attention falling to where rows of books sat within the darkness. She chuckled softly before saying, "Your mannerisms are much like Beast from Beauty and the Beast. And this must be your West Wing. A place so important, it holds your deepest and darkest secrets. It's the place you never want found for it's the place that hides your true weakness." Her voice trailed off a bit thinking of that Disney animated film, her words meaning nothing other than what happened in the movie.

He watched the female within the darkness. Even here, his eyes could see quite easily. Taking in even the sliver of light, making out the forms of things within the room. The female spoke of the necklace, he remained silent during her words, caring little for her opinion in the long run. She then spoke of some video. He had heard of the story before, one of the books within his collection now of this story. However, her comparing this to that was highly novice in nature. It gave more of a hint into her naivety than she probably realized or would ever care to admit as before. He frowned within the darkness.

"This place is off limits to any, despite race or blood" his eyes moved to the room around them, "it holds no secrets, but many memories." Alexander had moved anything of importance long ago. Now it was merely a simple office, one that had not been touched since his leaving. "This place is special to me yes....it belonged to someone important to me" he moved to her silently, catching a hold of her wrist, "so you can spout whatever insults or thoughts that you have at me.....it still stands that I will not allow this place to be defiled." He pulled her swiftly to the door, then out it, standing between her and the room behind him now in the hallway.

"I told you that our next meeting would not be pleasant, your arrogance and cockiness precedes you" he takes a step closer to her, "you brush off my warning and continue to interject yourself where you do not belong." He shrugs lightly, "I have been to easy and lenient with you....perhaps it is only such violence you brought with you that you respond to. Very well...." His eyes upon her once more, "perhaps I should make a meal out of you." It was a bit of a tease and a test. How she responded would tell if she really knew anything about them. Rumors passed down through the years hinted at them being able to drink blood through the use of their fangs.

But in actuality, though possibly capable of it, they did not typically use them for that reason. They did not need blood to survive. In a flash he had her wrists, pinning her to the wall behind her. The stones felt against his hands as he slid her wrists up to above her head a bit. His eyes still on her's, his expression blank. He gave nothing away, as to if he was serious or not or even as to what he was thinking. He was not amused, if anything he was growing more annoyed with the constant pushing of this woman. She was indeed like a child to him, or a teenager as well. Pushing the boundaries that other's set, wishing to see their reactions and responses, only to counter them with more attitude and pushing once more.

She did not know when to quit. He did partially admire that, stubborn himself in many ways, though he would not say that to her. He was aware that he had probably annoyed others in his time with his own childishness. To many within his family, he would always be a child to them when it came to age. He watched her for a moment, careful to keep an eye on any move she might make in an attempt to free herself. He would counter it for the moment if she did, taking care to keep her there. His intention not actually to do what he said per-say, but she would not be aware of his intentions for now.

Dayna mentally chuckled at his response. He was very much like Beast, even if the room held no secrets, he protected it as though it had. If he were the Beast, would that have made her Belle? Her face scrunched up some, not really liking the idea of that thought. He seemed to be growing more difficult to get a decent rise out of, which meant it was getting harder to pin down something to twist his words around with.

His hand snatched up her wrist as she was in the midst of thinking, and not liking the images that came to mind. In a moment, he was dragging her out of the room speaking about how he did not wish that room to be defiled. He claimed there was nothing important there, then spoke of memories; this kept the brunette quiet as she thought about how memories could be just as dear as secrets, especially with how many years worth of memories she had.

Her losing herself in thought was not the best choice at the time for it was the cold brick pressing against her back that caused her eyes to focus on the white haired male once again. The threats he told her, they seemed to contradict the story he had been trying to sell her earlier. Eyes narrowing, Dayna stared up at the taller male and said, "Pretty sure if you planned on killing me, you would have done so sooner."

She twisted her wrists in his grip, though she would sooner give herself an Indian Rug Burn before actually freeing herself. "And besides, making a meal of me wouldn't be the wisest of ideas--" She was then cut off as a buzzing sound and song filled the air. Her cell phone had been tucked into an inside pocket of her tunic and it had begun viberating, the theme from The Magnificent Seven playing, telling the woman that the Old Man was calling.

She did not make it to easy as he was guessing she probably would. Twisting within his grip, though her mind at times seemed to be off on other things. She looked back at him, saying that if he had planned on killing her, he would have done it already. True, perhaps it was he who enjoyed playing with her in this little game to a point. His eyes on her as she began to speak of his comment about making her a meal. The words interrupted, with the sound of a buzz and music. He frowned, raising an eyebrow for a moment. What in the world was that? Hearing it come from her, he released one wrist to move his hand to her pocket. From within, he slipped the slender device.

His eyes upon the lit up screen, frowning slightly at the continuation of the music. It was new to him. He was aware that there was technology out there, but he still preferred things the old fashioned way. He knew this device was referred to as a cell phone. A means of communication between people, the man who brought him things had one to keep in contact with friends and customers. A green button upon the screen reading answer, he tilted his head slightly before gently poking it with his thumb. The screen changed a bit and the music cut out. He paused, frowning very slightly more in curiosity than anything at the change. He did not have much experience with such things.

His other hand kept a hold of her for the moment, keeping her against the wall. His frame back enough though, that he could keep out of her reach for a moment with the phone. His eyes moved to her after a moment. "What is the meaning of this?" he asked her. The confrontations from moments before fading away for the moment as he looked at the woman before him against the wall. He let her other wrist slip from his hand, stepping for a moment back from her again. His eyes returning to the device, he turned it a bit within his hands to look at it a bit more clearly. It was different than the one the man had, but he guessed that it was in the end the same sort of device right?

As Kuroyami slipped his hand past he center button of her tunic going after the device, Dayna rolled her eyes. The man looked confused, which, given everything that had been going on was rather a cute look on the male's face. She rolled her eyes again, this time at her own thought. She didn't fight him back as he pulled the phone out, even with one hand free, what she was seeing was far too entertaining, if not sad.

He stared at the screen, the woman knew that if she didn't answer this time, the man would call and call until she did. If it was the kids, they would do the same thing. The apple really didn't fall far from the tree with them. She watched as the male connected the call, but just continued to look at the screen. She planted the palm of her free hand against her forehead, shaking her head at what she was watching. Though, she could hear a girl's voice saying, "Hello? Hello? Dayna, are you there?"

The male then asked her what the meaning of it was before finally releasing her other hand. Her phone really seemed to interest the male, but the voice on the other end was growing more panicked, so before the girl could call for her father, Danya snatched the device for Kuro. "It's called a cell phone," she said before placing the device to her ear, her eyes glued on the man before her.

"It's ok Lily, I'm right here,"
she said softly, the tone in her voice was warm and loving, unlike her behaviors towards the male before her. "What's wrong sweety?"

The little girl was sobbing, her words were difficult to make out, though Dayna had spent a lifetime translating what the kids said when no one understood them. "Papa said you ran away," the girl had cried. "He said you were going to fight bad guys." Dayna's eyes softened, the wary glare she had been giving the male faded and was replaced with the same warmth that was in her voice. Her gaze fell to the floor as she said, "It's ok Lily, I'm fine. The bad guys didn't stand a chance against me. Do you think anyone could stand up to the wolf girl?"

Dayna could hear a rustling noise against the phone before hearing a forced, "No." Dayna let out a soft sigh as she then said, "There was one bad guy, he wasn't bad. He said he would help me." This seemed to perk the little girl's interest as she said, "Yeah?" Dayna nodded, though obviously the girl didn't see it. "Yeah," she replied. "I'll try to send you a picture later, ok?"

With that the little girl seemed satisfied and they ended the call. Dayna's eyes remained on the device for a little while. Her thumb swiped across the screen, tapping every so often as she checked missed calls, text messages and saw she had multiple voice mails. The only people that ever contacted her was the family, clearly the kids must have been worried since they woke up to the woman missing.

His ears picked up the sound of a voice, childlike in nature. His eyes moving once more to the screen. He was curious about who the one speaking was. At first, he had foolishly thought that it was some form of magic or something, but he knew better now, that on the other side of the call was someone with a device like this of their own.

His eyes moved to the girl as she grabbed the phone from him, confirming that it was in fact that kind of device. She watched him, as he watched her in turn. She began speaking to the one on the other side, which she called Lily. So, it was a young girl she was familiar with. He watched her as she seemed to soften a bit in nature, her eyes adverting from him as she did so.

He watched her as she said the bad guys did not stand a chance against her. She then followed up by saying there was a bad guy, who was not bad, who agreed to help her. He frowned, wondering who this was she was speaking of. Was it him? In any case she was indeed lying in some way to the girl. But he did understand how some saw it needed to bend the truth a bit for younger children they cared for.

She was telling the girl she would send a picture later. A picture? He watched as their call ended and she proceeded to mess with the phone. He reached out, plucking the phone from her once more. His eyes upon it, "stretching things for the benefit of a young mind and heart.....so there is a softer side under that aggression."

He looked at the phone again, not seeing to much of the appeal within it. Though he supposed with staying in contact, it was a quicker and...sort of easier...way to do so. He tilted his head, looking at her once more again. "But now how will you appease her curiosity?" he asked, curious on what she planned to do now with the seeds she had planted for the girl.

She seemed attached to this device as well. He knew from the man's description that many of the younger generation could become quite attached to these devices for more than just communication purposes. He wondered how far this female was attatched to hers. He knew there was a battery within the back, his hand flipping the phone over. With a slight pop of the back cover, sure enough there was the rectangular battery sitting within the back.

Without it, such things could not run. So simple, yet so complex as well. Kuroyami had an interest in what made things tick, learning on how they worked. Even if he preffered the older way of doing things. He slipped the battery out, looking at the little object within his hand. "Such strange little things...." he said, before slipping the battery back within the phone.

He replaced the backing, before looking to her. Without much of a refusal or comment, he handed the phone back to her. He took a breath, glancing out the window at the end of the hall. "Whatever your plans are or your hatred for me....for now it is not wise for you to remain her so close to evening" he looked at her, "please leave...for real this time."

He took her hand this time, instead of her wrist without a thought. Not a hard grip, leading her back down the stairs and to the door. He opened it, before releasing his hold. His eyes returning to her, as he stood beside the door. His demeanor had shifted again. He had gone from opposing when they first met and she attacked him, to slightly lighter when they had talked to once more opposing to now seeming calm once more.

Hard to pin down, who he was was still for the most part a mystery. They had just met after all, so it was no surprise. She was still new to him as well, but at the same time she was familiar with many he had delt with. He could not judge her simply by that though, it was unfair. For now, he continued to watch her.

Her eyes scanned over one of the texts she had received from the man's phone. The kids were worried, that much was very clear. It wasn't Dayna's intention to make them worry, but she had to do this. Kuroyami finally spoke up which actually caused the brunette to jump, her eyes flicking up to meet his gaze. It was the second part of his phrase, about the softer side under the aggression that caused the woman's cheeks to flare a pink hue.

Before she could get a response to form in her head, the man had taken her phone again, asking how she was going to appease the girl's curiosity. She broke her gaze on the male, her eyes falling to the cold, dark floor. The kids were usually a quick weakness for the girl; she was quick to defend and protect them. She remembered how hard it was on them when their mother had passed and she wanted to make sure they had happy lives while she was around.

A snapping noise from the male pulled Dayna's eyes up, he had removed the backing on her phone. She took a step forward, arm reached out to stop him, but he had already taken the battery out. It wasn't so much the phone that she was worried about, it was if the kids tried to get a hold of her again. She hissed through her teeth, pulling her hand back as she took as step back.

Kuroyami seemed more curious in the phone than wanting to actually ruin it. The way he spoke told her that much. After a few moments, the battery was put back, the phone backing put back on. Carefully taking the phone as he handed it back to her, Dayna slipped in into the pocket inside of the tunic once again. As she did so, she watched as the male's gaze shifted and she followed it. The sun was setting, night was coming.

He urged her to leave, though his tone seemed almost kind, at least kinder than it had been. This was reflected in his hand taking hers as he pulled her back the way they had come and back to the front door. He didn't push her, drop her, nor throw her out the door. Sir Vincent sat outside, though alert, he did not seem panicked as he watched the two of them standing in the doorway.

The way he was acting and the call she had just gotten from Lily made it had to snap at the male. She could feel his gaze upon him and her mind was running a mile a minute. She bit her lower lip, brow furrowed as she turned to face the male square on. "Prove to me you aren't the monster that I've been told about my whole life," she said, the look in her eyes seemingly pleading the man to agree, though on the inside she was kicking herself for putting her at his mercy. "Please," she said after a few moments of silence. "I need your help."

She was kicking herself on the inside, but as it stood, so far none of her more violent methods had worked. Clearly, against another human, they probably stood a chance, but if stories were true, as they had been proving, she couldn't use those same methods against Kuroyami.

The woman seemed to have been about to make a move to take the phone back but had stopped herself when he was looking it over. She did not pull away from him as he led her back down the stairs and out to the door. His eyes flickering across the horse for a moment once more, admiring the beast as he had before. It was now though that she spoke to him again. She wanted him to prove that he was not the monster she had been told about. She asked him for his help, actually saying please. He took a breath, folding his arms slightly across his chest. "I owe you no prof or explanation for myself or for anyone...." he said, a comment that would probably annoy her. He paused for a moment, before speaking once more.

"But I am no monster, my actions and mannerisms reflect response to those around me" he looked at her, a slight response to her earlier beauty and the beast comments before. He turned to face her, "many have looked for the necklace...for the past few centuries and have gotten little to nowhere. You ask for my help...for what? You say that you intend to destroy the necklace once you find it. That my forever has been long enough...There are bad members of the family out there yes, just as there are of any area even your precious Cain family. So you are asking me to help find something so you can destroy all of us? The innocent along with the wicked? You free our family yes....but you also damn those who rely on the necklace as of now for life. Are you really willing to take on that burden of ending so many lives?"

It was not an attack, or a cold comment meant to upset her. If anything, it was a honest question and concern. Was she really willing and ready to be the one to take on taking away the lives of others. The burden that could come along with it. So many carelessly pushed around that idea. Life and death, even her so far, like it was nothing. Like it was surreal or something so simple. He stepped closer to her, gently lifting a hand to cup the side of her chin. She was avoiding his gaze a lot within the last few moments. Now looking into his eyes, he would not permit her to look away. He wanted to see it right within her eyes, when she said she would be trult alright with killing those who depended on the necklace.

Good and bad. "Men....women...children....you will be damning them all to lives without family....possibly losing their own...." he said, "then what? What will you do then? Take back the castles? Raise your family to power and glory?" He fell silent for a moment, "Will that truly make you happy?" He slipped his other hand down, taking her's within his. He placed it over his chest, where his heart was. Even after so long, it was still beating. Contrasting against the rumor that vampires and in turn the Vladamir had no hearts. "Will you be happy when it stops?" he sighed slightly, before releasing her. He would not force her to remain close to him, since she seemed to be already annoyed with herself by asking him for help. He ran a hand through his hair, thinking to himself for a moment about what she had just asked.

The initial response from the man caused Dayna's gaze to harden almost instantly, the emotion that reflected clear as day once again hidden behind a mask of ice. She decided to go for a nicer approach and this was still what she got? If that was the case she would have been better off trying to attack the male until he grew tired of it and told her what she wanted to know just to get her to leave him be.

As he continued, his gaze now upon her, she rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms under her chest. It didn't matter that others had tried, the fact that they didn't succeed meant that it wasn't their task or they weren't putting enough into it. When he spoke of destroying the family, her purple eyes lifted to watch the male as he spoke. He went on about destroying the lives of those that relied on it. That thought jarred Dayna for a moment, but only that. These people had lived long past their time, ridding the world of something that was meant to have died long ago would have been easy.

Her mind was set on that thought, they did not belong, they should not be there anymore. A hand touched the side of her face, forcing her gaze up. Her eyes met the male's, his hand was surprisingly warm given the stories that were told about him. As she looked in his eyes, he looked in hers; her eyes hard hardened, similar to when they first met, even if the blood lust wasn't there. He was silent for a moment before he started talking.

He seemed to repeat what he said, though this time he dug deeper in. Men, women and children, they would all be effected. Families, they could be torn apart. Dayna fought to keep the flash of emotion from appearing in her eyes as she thought about her own past, the past of those before her and imagined what would have happened if the horseman and his family were part of the family; if those kids weren't related to the curse and she broke the necklace, they would be alone, they would be taken away and likely separated.

As she fought away those thoughts, he carefully took her hand, placing it on his chest. Dayna held her breath, not entirely sure what to think of the situation. Her eyes remained locked on his face, giving the woman the first clear look at him since she had first launched an attack on him. He asked if she would be happy when his heart stopped, which was surprsingly beating still. His tone seemed soft, though it could have been a trick she was playing on herself. She had kept herself distanced from most people, boys were surprisingly the easiest as once she showed any maliciousness, they ran.

She was taken aback by the soft gestgures and words, that pink hue returned to her cheeks as the male let her go. With her breath held, Danya turned on the balls of her feet and walked down the steps of the castle. She didn't look back at the male until she sat upon Sir Vincent, she watched him for but a second before pulling the horses reins, leading the creature down the road. Much like before, she didn't stay on the road, she ushered the creature into the forest across the street from the castles. She would stay there for the night.

Sir Vincent didn't run, Dayna kept him at a walk as she led him a bit further in, enough that your standard tracker wouldn't think of looking for something if they hadn't been told someone was out there. She then stopped the horse, turning on the saddle so that the horn was uncomfortably resting against her back as she leaned backwards. "What does he know," she scoffed as she thought about what he said. She tried convincing her self that those families shouldn't have existed either, those involved would have been long diseased so the children shouldn't have existed. It was more difficult though, something like that would have been tied to close to her own past.

Her eyes hard on him, it did not deture him or stop him from speaking. She said nothing though, not answering him in the slightest. He had made her think, whether she would care to admit it or not. He had caught something within her. She turned, walking out the door to get on her horse. He stepped into the doorway to watch her, as she glanced at him before walking away. She had asked him to help her, and he had caused her to think. He had not said no or yes, his feelings towards all of this a bit hectic within. He was thinking himself about all of this as she took off the main path into the trees.

He sighed slightly, shaking his head. Closing the door, he was once more left in silence as the world around him continued to slowly darken into night. He made his way into the kitchen once more, cleaning up the cups and such within. He did not have to eat, and honestly, he had no appetite. Moving to the stairs, his body felt surprisingly heavy. Weighed down by thoughts and such that he had not thought about in a long time. He made his way up to his chambers, a room that he had used for the past few centuries. Off to the side was a bathroom, a tub that sat within. He spent the next bit of time filling it with hot water while thinking of the uninvited guest he had gained.

The woman had tried his patience, she had tested him and he her. Where did that leave them both now? Any different than they had been mere hours before? He paused, looking into the glass of a mirror as the change began to occur. The darkening skies brought the red back to his eyes. His skin lightening as it progressed, losing the warm tan color it usually was. At the same time, he could feel the fangs against his tongue. Forever, she thought them monsters, beings who did not have a right to exist those who should not exist. She was naive indeed. Families from generations, extentions of those who were long ago around. He let the coat slip from his shoulders. He would still need to repair it. He then unbuckled the plate upon his chest that protected him.

It lifted a bit of weight from his body, but still he felt heavy. He undid his pants, allowing them to slip away as well. A towel hung near the tub for after, his body moving into the steaming water. It felt good, allowing his muscles to relax. He closed his eyes, leaning his head back against the edge of the tub. Who was right, who was wrong. Life and death, good and evil. Who truly could say which was which? Who had the right to tell which was which? For now she had gone, leaving him to his thoughts, to his feelings. He was confused and clouded, left in the silence to try and sort through it all as she had left. She hid that he had gotten to her, that he had made her think. She could take it as a no, but it had not been really. She would probably brush it off, she would definitely be back. She would not let things stand like that.

How she would act or what she would say once she came back was another story though. Would she be hostile towards him? Probably, she did not seem like the type to simply give up on her aggression. It seemed to have taken a lot to simply say please and ask for his help. But in the end, she was still asking him to help her murder his family. To ultimately kill himself in the process as well. He sighed, pushing the thoughts from his mind.

The woman sighed, looking up into the darkening sky, her foot shifting, hitting the sword that hung from the side of the horse. Turning, she slid off the beast and started to remove the old tack that was on it. Crests of the Cain family decorated just about everything, it was impressive the lengths that they went to, to make sure that it was scene. She carefully set the items on rocks the were near the tree they were next to, the saddle and blanket went down first, then the bridle.

Turning back to the bag, Dayna pulled a brush from one of the bags and began brushing the creature. He just stood there, much as always, letting the woman clean him up. Once done, she returned the brush to the bag. The horse lay on the ground, this told the woman that there would be no rain that night. Reaching back into that same bag, she pulled out two apples, offering one to the horse whom happily took the snack. She took the other, along with the sword and rest her back against the horse's belly.

Eating the apple, she looked at the weapon the in the fading light, even most of the moon light would be hidden beneath the leafy canopy. "The husband of my ancestor was one of the first to see the curse first hand," she said with a sigh as she offered the apple core to the horse, her now free hand tracing over the silver emblems. "I wonder what his role was, or hers for that matter," she then said before leaning her head against the warm belly of the large animal.

Though she would fall asleep, it wouldn't be a deep sleep. When on the hunt, or most nights for that matter, the brunette never fell into a deep sleep. She was far too alert to let it wash over her.

The water had eventually turned cold. He had been allowing his body to relax within it, his eyes opening to the dark room around him. He had not bothered to light any candles. Honestly, he did not need them. His eyes fine with seeing in the dark due to the abilities gained with this curse. He slowly stood from the water, letting it run off of him, before stepping out onto the rug that had been positioned under the tub so one was not stepping off onto cold stone. He picked up his towel, wrapping it around his hips. From there, he made his way to his own room. The place silent as usual, he made little sound himself. He sighed slightly, before letting the towel drop.

The others had given him a pair of what they called pajamas, something more simple and comfortable to sleep within. He never wore the top, but the bottoms were alright. They were simple, black in color. They had seemed to know him well enough, that such flashy things were not his style. He did preferr it simple in the long run. He moved to the bed, sitting on the edge. His eyes for a moment moving to the window. He wondered where the girl had gone when she left. How far had she gone within the woods...she seemed to plan to stay out there for the night. That was fine with him. At the moment, both of them needed a breather, they needed time to process, what had happened.

He laid back, frowning slightly. He closed his eyes, allowing himself to relax against the pillows. She had asked him to help her. It went against his promise to Alexander and to the family. It went against who he was. She was asking him for murder and for suicide. He clenched his hands lightly, his nails digging into his skin a bit. She would be back, but still, how would the two of them react to one another when they saw each other once more. He could not dwell on things for now, it would do him little good at the moment as he had thought before. He pushed the thoughts from his head, calming himself in the silence and within the darkness.

He turned over upon his side, letting himself relax into the covers and the pillows. His breath and heart slowing, near to the point one might think him dead as he allowed himself to slip off into slumber for the night.

The sun's rays poked through the tree's leaves early the next morning, the warmth from them and the singing of forest birds slowly rusing the woman from her slumber. Dayna leaned forward, off the horse that still lay behind her and stretched her arms upward, her spine popping as she did. Once she moved, the horse moved, pulling itself back up to his feet.

Once her spine popped, she worked on stretching the other sore spots on her body. Sure, the woman had slept outside like this many times, but it didn't mean that the human body was made for it. Getting up, Dayna moved for her canteen that resided in one of the pouches on the saddle, taking a small drink, she shook the object. She was going to have to find a place to fill it up soon enough if she stayed out in the wilds for much longer.

On instinct, the woman moved for the quiver at the side, searching for its counterpart first. When her hand was greeted with air, rather than weapon, she froze. Staring at the saddle, she recalled what had happened the day before. She no longer had her bow and was missing a dagger. No bow limited her hunting skills, there weren't many animals that would simply let you approach close enough to kill them with your hands.

"Well, that's another thing I can go after him for," she muttered as she picked up the sword that she held while she slept. Sheathing the weapon, she grabbed the saddle and blanket, putting them back on the horse. Proceeding to tack the creature, the brunette started making to do lists in her mind. She could watch for today, see what the man would be up to, learn his movements and patterns and find a point where he would be susceptible to attack and least likely to expect it. Before that though, she would have to locate some sort of food and water source.

After a few moments, the woman was pulling herself back onto the horse and leading it towards the residence that once belonged to the House of Cain. She hadn't been able to look around it much beforehand, having gone right to Vladimir.

Leading the horse towards the further property, she stopped on the road staring at its large brick walls. It had clearly seen better days, its condition was far worse than that of House Vladimir, but it was still a sight to see all the same. Tattered, burned and sun bleached banners displaying the same crest that decorated much of the woman's belongings slowly waved in the light morning breeze. Walls had fallen, bricks charred and other buildings that were little more than foundation.

Dayna urged the horse forward until they passed the wall that would have once held their front gate. Sir Vincent only seemed slightly uneasy, his ears alert and searching as they slowed to a stop towards the center of the property before the large estate. "It would have been something to see, eh Vincent?" She asked the beast, reaching down and patting the side of his neck. She then sat back, arms crossed under her chest as she let out a sigh. "I wonder what it would be like if none of that ever happened."

It did not take till the sun rose for him to wake. He was on a natural timer so to speak, one to wake early before the sun made an appearance. He changed out of the pajama pants, into a more suitable outfit for the day. His eyes and skin had not changed back yet, nor would they till the sun's first rays. Moving down from his room, he paused at the end of the stairs. It was quiet within. She had not come back, he could easily tell this. There had been no sight or sound of her. Standing here now, there was also no scent of her, something she could not hide. He wondered for a moment how her night had been, before brushing the thought from his mind.

He did not have time to waste on her, she had left of her own will, though he knew she would be back. Stubborn as a mule as some would say. He took the peace and silence to do his normal chores. Cleaning up a bit, as well as scouting the area for any intruders. Nothing out of the ordinary was found, as usual. He still made his way through the motions, even though he could tell from far away if something was amiss. Moving out into the dark early morning, he took a breath. Out here, the scent of nature and wild things was more prominent. Even here, he caught hints of her scent upon the wind that blew lightly over the land. She had not gone to far off it seemed.

He made his way over to the other castle, his eyes scanning it within the darkness. He could make out every crack and brick, even in the darkness. As was part of the curse, their eyes able to see better than a human's, even in the dark. He made his way inside, even though he was getting no hint of anything inside. He moved along as he had in his own castle, gaining a view of each room. Nothing was inside as usual. He kept his mind focused on the task at hand, and off the woman out in the trees. She would be back, most likely hostile once more. He could not doubt that, but he was not really looking forward to it either. Being yelled at and accused of being a beast once more.

He ran a hand through his hair with a sigh, as his eyes caught the first rays of the sun beginning to peek over the line of the trees and mountains. Glancing into a mirror, the red from his eyes began to fade. Color returning to his skin, while the sharpened canines went back to normal as well. He looked normal once more. Well, as normal as it got for him. Turning his attention to the window once more, he leaned against the bricks from them, letting his thoughts wander for a bit. This place had been his home and his prison for a long time. It was the first place most came in connection to the story. Where many were often met with a wall that prevented them from going much further here.

He paused after a bit, stepping slightly back into the shadows out of sight of the window. The scent and sight of that girl approaching once more had become apparent as she began to move, and now seemed to be heading here. He sighed, deciding to avoid such early morning confrontation at the moment. But he would keep an eye on her and out, for she had a way of going to places she was not welcome without permission. Yet she questioned his manner and his position. She was indeed in ways hypocritical like her family.

The morning was quiet, much more so than it usually was at the farm. Then again, when you live with a bunch of horses, it's only expected to be rather noisy throughout the day. Dayna sat on the horse in the middle of the town area, just looking, mentally reconstructing what it must have looked like back in the day. She pulled a foot from her stirrup, putting it on the saddle, resting her chin on her knee.

Even if coming out there had meant actually crossing blades with Vladimir, something that could've wound the woman up dead, she did not regret making the trip. If it had been merely a history trip, she probably would've even taken the kids and the old man with her. The kids definitely would've loved to see all of this. It was a completely differently world than their own, but still something that they were tied to, even if that day and age, this stuff meant nothing.

Sir Vincent sat patiently as the girl just sat there, zoned out. Though, after a little while, his ears began to lock on a sound in the distance and he started slowly walking that way. He took them around fallen lumber, overgrowth, fallen rocks and the like. Dayna did not seem concerned as the horse walked, it just gave her more to look at. He moved them through a part of the fallen wall and back into the forest where the trees gave way to a stream that opened up to a pond before continuing its life through the forest. Stream was probably a weak term, at least after the pond, the width opened up to a small river.

"Good boy," Dayna said, a smile on her face as she patted the horse's neck. The horse made his way to the water, leaning down to drink as the woman slid off. She dipped her hand into the cool liquid, taking a slow drink before retreiving her canteen from the saddle and filling it.

She sat in the clearing at the water's edge, just enjoying the world around her. It was much like how she spent her hunting trips, just enjoying the scenery. After a little while, Dayna decided it would be wise to wash off a bit, having spent two nights in the forest, not to mention fighting the day before, she probably smelled horrible.

Unlacing her boots, she set them closer to the horse than the shore, even if Sir Vincent stepped on them, they would be easier to deal with than if they ended up in the water. Dayna then pulled off the jacket, pants and under clothes, setting them beside her boots. With the jacket and under garments removed, the sunlight then laded on a series of scars, some small others much larger. The ones that took center stage were a set of 4 thick scars that went across her back.

Dayna then moved back to sit at the water's edge, she dipped her feet it, it was definitely much cooler to the feet than to the hands. Letting herself get used to the temperature, which was a nice welcome to the heat of summer, the brunette walked deeper into the water. Once the water was up to her waist, she sucked in a breath of air and dove under. She swam out until she could feel the water getting cooler and cooler with the dropping of the pond floor. Pushing back to the surface, she was closer to the center of the pond, just past the main drop off.

Back peddling a bit, Dayna got back to where she could reach again. Standing, the waters fell to just under her shoulder blades and it allowed the woman to fight through the knots of her long hair as it floated in the water.

Kuroyami sighed slightly, watching the woman from the shadows of the window. She took her time, mulling around the land that his people had once called home. He frowned slightly, she seemed calm for the moment, acting as if nothing happened the day before. He knew better than to think that though, she would not so easily brush it off. Not when she had come all the way here, swearing she would end him. Find justice for her family. He clicked his tongue, emitting a slight “tch” under his breath. She was more of a nuisance at the moment. Sighing a bit, he turned away from the window. He made his way out of the room, the effects of the night’s change fully gone from him. He appeared like a normal human once more.

She was going to be sticking around, that was not hard to gather from events. He could not convince her to leave and give up this foolish pursuit. At the same time however, he had thought about what she had said. Death, it was something that meant more to him than it might to others. History had wound itself in and out of life and death within the two families. He paused, leaning against the wall a bit. His eyes moved to another window nearby. He stayed there for the time being, his eyes on the sky outside. He didn’t need to move to it to know that she was out there. Probably still enjoying her time in the water. To be so calm in such a place. She was indeed odd. Shaking his head, he had things to do. Moving between buildings with that girl out there would be difficult though.

He had wanted to avoid confrontation, but such things might have already been slipping out of reach. He could move around if he wanted to, without her seeing him. Why should he hide though? Avoid her, like he was doing something wrong? Was that not in a sense what she was accusing him of? Being in the wrong? He would not hide from her, if she wanted to make a move, he would take it head on. He would not force himself to cower from a human, from the stigma that she and everyone else seemed to have. Did he have a right to live? A right to die? Shaking his head, he pushed off of the wall. He headed down to the main doors, pushing them open without a care. This woman had stirred up thoughts and feelings he had been keeping at bay till now.

Why did he care? Why would he allow one meeting to make him think, to question? Probably because in truth, he had been doing it anyways. Secretly, within himself, never really letting it surface to much. He could not allow it to. He could not allow himself to go through this…not again.. Closing off his mind, he pushed all of the thoughts away. He turned down the path, not even glancing in her direction. He knew she was there though, the smell of her on the air. The presence of her there as well. This was indeed going to be a pain of a day.
