My Ode to Nature!
Name: Steve the Garden Hose
Selected theme: Critters
Entry:

Earth Day is a time to better ourselves and our living style to help future generations. But many people think "I'll be dead by then" and do nothing. Poisons pollute our water every day, so unless you plan on dying in three seconds it WILL affect you. A great Garden Hose once brought forward the idea of the 1R and 2S's, "Shut up, Sit down and Recycle." Recycling keeps garbage and pollutants from damaging an organism's habitat, which allows it to.... not die. And not dying is an awesome thing to happen, because therefore you are alive, which is good.

My Ode to Nature!
Name: Windy Withdrawal
Selected theme: Love
Entry:

He had walked into a trap with her, her greenness seeming welcoming enough. Though once down to the roots, her character: a mangled being, was finally identified. Gone was the chrysalis: this was actually her. "You were my trap." He wouldn't acknowledge the fact that once out of her chrysalis, beauty sprang forth.

"I was not," she would respond. "I had no intention of ensnaring you."

"Ironic; I could say the exact same thing."

But she wasn't the weed he made her out to be. She was the ugly thing that had morphed beautifully once they had found each other.

Selected theme:Respect
Entry:
I watch these two kids as they play with the butterfly cocoons. They poke them, prod them, just to see what would happen. The stop and, go play with nature, pulling out grass and stepping on flowers. I grit my teeth, wondering what they think about . They go to school agreeing with the seminar and paint posters, taping them on the school walls. They eat their candy bars and litter on the floor. "Respect Nature" it says. I cringe again, restraining myself . Instead I go to a field, all the litter there. Someone has to respect nature today.

[disclaimer: I do NOT think that every person does this or a lot of people, it's kind of taken from how people nod and smile at those recycle messages and all that, but they go around not doing those things. ]

EDIT: fixing cause it's over the word count

My Ode to Nature!
Name: Alexis Durem
Selected theme: Conservation
Entry:

A girl walked along the beach, seeing the garbage and dead fish, but she did not care until nearly all the fish were gone from the sea, and there were no fish left to put on the table. A boy walked through the forest and saw the loggers cutting wood as well as the trash on the ground, but he did not care until the species in the forest were extinct and he could not go hunting with his father. Humanity has seen it's destruction of the earth, yet we only care when we see we are really destroying ourselves.

NOTE - Edited to fit word length.

My Ode to Nature!
Name: Burnt Biscuits
Selected theme: Nature/recycling, entitled Nature's Good Morning
Entry:Her delicate curves still covered by a night gown of soft white letting light through, a thin vine holding the main stem for support. She kisses the dew, good morning, morning glory. The vines entwine with those of the black berries, sharp thorns careful not to pierce their delicate friend, the bulbus purple fruit heavy and ripe, threatening to fall off into the mud below. Sharp glass of a broken bottle glints in the morning light, a hand reaches out, not for the flower, nor for the berry, but for the one obstruction in the beauty of nature's good morning.

Selected Theme: Conservation
Entry:

Its family tradition for the mother to bring her daughter to the beach on the child's fourth birthday. So that's what I did.

Dented cans sat in filth. Broken wine bottles dotted the water.

"Its beautiful here, mommy. Other beaches don't smell as good."

"When your grandmother brought me, we saw a fish."

"A real fish?" She glanced at me with disbelief.

"It was dying."

"Poor fish. Will we see one? I thought they were x-stink."

"They are extinct."

She looked back to the ocean. "Its still beautiful, mommy."

To her, it truly was.

But I could remember something better.

Entry:

They slowly walked to a large oak tree in the field.
"Jen you are wonderful and perfect and I love you, but you should have a little more respect for our teacher."
"I know, She is just- Aghh!."
"You are right and wonderful and I love you."
Suddenly he turned and kissed her. “I might have done the same thing.”
Taking his pocket knife out he started carving her initials into the tree.
"Wait-" She said. "You told me about respect for people, but trees deserve it too.”
He stared at her surprised ten smiled. "Okay. I'll respect your wishes."

Entry: Man? Why must chaos be your way? You race ahead the other players that wish not to play this game. You win. Not knowing that it is not a game to be won. The other players they wallow in your wake. Some die off, some lay weak. All you care for are your things that once belonged to the creatures of the world. Use your voice that they don't have, use your hands to help them live. Reach your hearts out to the wounded, caress their spirits, replenish their numbers. Love your neighbors, for theirs is the Earth as well.

My Ode to Nature!
Name:Kah Hilzin-Ec
Selected theme: Respect
Entry: My life, thanks to them. Thanks to these trees that surround my house.
Thanks to the Mango trees that gave me 64 mangos last year.
Thanks to the Eucalipt, for healing me from every cold I've had.
I thank you, for purifying this industrial air, for beautifying my window view , for posing in my photos, and giving me a reason to smile when I water you.
I have a deep respect to these magnificent creatures, that can do a lot without moving, and say without sounding.
And especially thanks, to that pathetically incredible tree I see, for feeding my dreams.

PS: I hope this is good enough to be worth reading xD Oh and all of this is true, there's a pathetically incredible tree that's in front of my house... but not in my property ^^v I wish it did :/

::EDIT:: Is respect the correct theme? ^^v

Global warming has already changed our lives drastically and it will continue to do so. Average temperatures have gone up 1.4 around the world since 1880 and even though this doesn't seem like a lot, it affects us, animals, and Earth itself greatly. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years! Also, 11 of the last 12 years are among the 12 warmest since 1850! If we allow this to continue temperatures will continue go up, more extreme weather conditions will occur, animals will become extinct, and so much more! Will you help stop this?
