I wouldn't say that! I think you just need to have more depth in your shading/highlighting and you need to understand how the clothes you design would fit on the menewsha base body. These are good starts, but they're far from done and you made the females flat-chested! xD Just keep working at it and don't get discouraged.

I would suggest you to look for some images with similar clothing type and study the folds and shading of fabrics.

I can't find an example of a male wearing it. It's actually kind of inspired by some of Lau's outfits from Kuroshitsuji

Well it's not QUITE the same thing...but my all time favorite character of any show ever is Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho and he wears stuff like that all the time:

Alexandrus, I am pretty sure you can find some reference, as that type of clothing is rather... common in Hong Kong old time dramas or even china drama. Can find under Ming or Qing dynasty. The reference is for you to study the folds and fabric, not the pattern.
