Could be that Avery was killed by another one of your guy's kind because of the whole cross-breeding they were trying to do.

I don't mind tossing in a second character to act as a friend to your character, for extra interaction :3

Vampire works and we could make him a friend that's also a vampire who has gotten him threw the lonely years so he wouldn't kill himself.

I have this vampire who, as you can see, comes with another character as an attachment (somewhat xD )

Maybe him and your char met up after Avery was killed, while they were both sulking in a bar, or something? Your char over Avery, Michael over Vi.

Anyway, for the start, we're playing out a bit of the past, right?

We should probably come up with a bit of a setting then. I tend to keep the era a bit vague whenever something is in the 'past', but maybe about the 1800s or so? Or before that?
How old is your guy?

He'll be 20 for when he was changed for actual age depends on how many years it's been maybe 500 hundred.

Alright~ Then we can pick any time between now and 500 years ago for their initial meeting ^^
Wasn't 500 years ago the end of medieval times, or something?
Anyway, how's 1700-1800s sound? Though I think we'll be fine if we leave the era a bit vague, too. Not like it really matters much.

Shall we pick a few big things from their past and have flashbacks of those scenes? (Like their meeting, their getting together, etc) or do you prefer to go through certain scenes in longer flashbacks to get some more detail in and to play out from them meeting to their dating, then a skip to Avery being killed, or something?

Lets have him tell Avery about his past threw flashbacks and maybe Avery can remember things on his own.

So you want to start in modern times after all?

Then, shall I start with how a bet leads to Avery breaking into an old mansion, said to be empty and haunted, as part of a 'test of courage' of sorts? Only to, well, find it's not haunted?
