Finx growled and slapped him across the face. She looked surprised at her own actions and burst into tears.

Jonathan stepped forward, "Finx" he said gently.

Finx fell into his arms sobbing she didn't care that he was a vampire he just wanted a shoulder to cry on.

He put his arms around her. He didn't say anything, just held her.

Finx cried herself out then took a deep breath "Sorry." she mumbled rubbing her wet cheeks.

"You don't need to apologize" he said softly.

"Yes I do I wanted to get out so bad." Finx looked to the line that meant her freedom every human knew once you got to a certain point you were home free. "I almost made it."

He looked toward where she was looking, then looked back at her, "I wouldn't stop you" he said softly.

"But you would get in trouble if I just left." Finx frowned a little then looked back to him.

"Not really" *he asked* "most vampires aren't particularly troubled about humans disappearing"

"Are you sure? Master." Finx grimaced.

"You don't need to call me that" Jonathan said, "and yes I am sure"

"Thank you so much. I still don't understand why your so nice." Finx smiled thankfully at him.

*Jonathan smiled a little.* "Maybe I'm just not very good at being an evil vampire overlord"

"With practice you could be just like the other vampires.'' Finx said sourly. "Thank you again truly." she hugged him and turned to the border thinking of the life that might await her.

*Jonathan smiled kind of sadly as he watched her.* "Just try to stay out of trouble, alright?"

"Of course...I wish things had been different. Maybe humans could have gotten along with vampires instead of being dominated by them." Finx crossed her arms.

"Maybe someday they will be different" *Jonathan said softly*

Finx found she couldn't leave him for some reason she found herself feeling sad about leaving him.

*Jonathan looked at her, wondering what she was thinking*

Finx scowled then sighed. "Maybe I can hang around for a little longer just so I can kill some vampires." She thought of her parents and quickly looked away before she could start crying.

"I'm not quite sure how to respond to that..." *Jonathan said*

"What do I do my parents are back there." Finx began to cry. "I..." She broke off and kicked a rock.

"Finx" *Jonathan put his hand on her shoulder*

Finx looked up at him tears trailing down her cheeks. "What do I do?"
