In fourteenth century Slovakia a castle looms over the city where the Heiress of the land lives. There, unknown to anyone, is where her servant awaits her every command.

Oldrich Pokorny

Twenty years of age

One would say that Oldrich is a very gentle person, but very hallow and difficult to read. Very rarely does he show any kind of emotion. Inside he is very strong willed, and prideful. He's also very book smart. Even though he seems like the pessimistic type he's very optimistic and looks for the best in everything. If one were to delve deeper they would find that he's a child at heart and has a very curious nature.

As a child Oldrich was actually raised in southern Slovakia in the Stiavnica mountains until he was twelve where he and his father traveled to eastern Slovakia after his mother died. There he learned different skills ranging from house hold skills, to skills of a black smith because his father was constantly changing jobs. Some time after his father passed he was hired into service by a royal family who put him in charge over their daughter, the heiress.

Other things that people notice about Oldrich is that he is a tame person and people find it ironic that his personality matches his last name Pokorny, which means tame in the Slavic language. He also has a strange fascination for flowers, it's mainly because his mother used to grow them along with other things.

It hadn't been long since Oldrich had been working at the castle that towered over the large city, and yet he still managed to find his way around with ease. Even though the castle was in fact lovely, and the sleeping quarters for him and the others were grand, Oldrich looked at the castle the same way he looked at every other place. He did so because no matter where he was everything was the same, people were people, and a job was a job, etc. He was silent as he walked on the white stone of the bridge that connected one part of the caste to the other.

As usual he wore a blank expression that showed no enjoyment, or resentment, of the beautiful day. The wind picked up and sent a small chill down his spine. Even though it had been warmer there recently the wind still managed to always give him a cold child from time to time. His eyes adjusted to the light with ease as he walked into the other part of the castle where he would attend the Heiress' every beck and call.

And as usual he would comply with a smile that was well practiced but one that would never reach his lavender eyes. Inwardly he let out a sigh, sure the money was good but he still wished that he wouldn't have to go to the girl constantly. Even though he did prefer girls he was still uncomfortable around them, and even more so was he with the heiress. It was the sound of glass shattering against the ground that brought Oldrich from his thoughts. He looked up and seen that one of the young maids had dropped a flower vase. Out of instinct he went over and helped the flustered girl help pick up the glass. "Ouch." She hissed and the boy's eyes fell on the girl.

She'd nicked her finger ever so slightly. "Why don't you just get the flowers in a vase of water and leave the rest to me." There was a scratchiness to the boy's tone as he spoke, but not a high pitch scratchiness, it was more of a lower tone. The girl paused in her actions, thanked him quickly and repeatedly as she picked up the flowers and scurried off to fetch another vase of water. When she was gone another servant with a cloth had came over to clean up the water as Oldrich picked up the rest of the glass.

As he picked up the last piece of glass he found a petal sticking to it. His lips pursed, as he stared at it. It was the petal of a daisy he knew, the color and texture identified itself. He sighed as he stood up with the glass in his hands and went to dispose of it. It looked like he was going to be late in his duties this morning because of the little mishap. Whatever the case he wasn't particularly worried about it.

//Hope this is okay >//<//

Marika Zupan

Heiress to the castle, she was the only child to the current Master and was waited on constantly. This has been so every since she was born, she was never left wanting and her father spoiled her rotten. Like any Heiress she was taught many thing, everything started as soon as she could walk and talk. Artistic lessons, educational lessons, household and town management lessons, and anything else that was deemed important for any high class person such as she should know. She was naturally talented so everything came so easy to her, but there is one place that she lacks. Her ability to display any of her actual feelings, no one really displayed any emotions around her so much so she never learned how to 'read people' so to speak. She assumes a majority of the time that people at real at all at this point.

Being handed everything in your life can lead to a very unpleasant personality for others. Demanding, stuck-up, and very presumptuous in the eyes of others, which she can to admit to being but her typical response is that she has the right too. Though in actuality she wants to make friends, being stuck in a house full of people who fringe friendship or kindness wasn't one of the things she wanted. She wanted something real, she began to realize that nothing in her world was truly genuine. As she was growing up she had watched from her balcony the townspeople below. She would always ask herself how they could have such happy and genuine smiles when she herself couldn't have that? Wasn't she suppose to get whatever she wanted? Well she wanted that and she was determined to find away to get that for herself.

When left all alone these are the thoughts that haunt her, was she happy in this life where she asks for not? Her favorite subject by far was philosophy, questioning life and the true meaning of it all.

((k-kawaii: It's fine ^^ I like him!))

Marika was sitting in front of her vanity, an emotionless mask on her face as her maid was brushing her hair. The maid had been brushing for about five minutes, but Marika found the gesture comforting in the morning. "Lady Marika your hair is as lovely as ever, brown as the finest chocolate, as smooth as silk and at the same time as soft as cotton." The maid's smile hadn't reached her eyes, Marika thought to herself as she saw the maid close her eyes as she said the statement. She lifted a hand to indicate that she didn't want her hair brushed any further, the maid bowed slightly and left the room. Once again Marika was left alone in her room to just simply stare at herself in the mirror.

"As soft as cotton is it? That's new." She gently touched a portion of hair. She raised from her seat and turn to exit to her balcony, a chill running down her spine as she encountered the morning air. Leaning against the railing, Marika looked down at the townspeople below. Many were starting their day setting up shop, making breakfast, or heading into the forest to start working. As she watched the people go about their lives she spotted a girl around the same age as she, holding an empty basket in her hand on her way to the market. The girl continued to walk on, not knowing that someone was watching her, a smile was plastered on her face for no apparent reason. 'Why does she smile so early in the morning?'

Suddenly Marika's mood turned for the worse, what did that girl have that Marika didn't to have such a smile on her face? She had all she wanted in the world but she always felt she was missing something. Turning back into her room, Marika grabbed a throw pillow of one of the chairs in her room and hurled it at the door. 'Damn this world! What am I missing?' She thought to herself and noted that something was indeed missing. "Where is that butler, he was suppose to be here by now. He knows that as soon as I've done my hair brushing that I need to be escorted to my morning classes.' Ignoring the pillow on the floor she exited her room to find a certain butler to take her morning anger out on.

The man was disposing of the glass when he glanced outside the window. Time was passing quickly, he could tell by the position of the sun outside. He supposed he'd better hurry since Marika's classes were about to start and she'd be fussing at him if he wasn't there to take her to them. Oldrich straightened out his clothing and made sure he was presentable as he could be before he continued on towards the heiress' room where he was hoping she'd still be waiting for him.

Of course she would be. She usually would wait for him there, although unknown to him she had left her room to find him. Oldrich rounded a corner only to nearly bump into the girl. Out of reflex he caught her arms before they could knock each other down, or to be more exact, before he knocked her down. Instantly he pulled his hands away from her and cleared his throat. "Excuse me Lady Marika, that was merely out of reflex. I apologize" He said to her, referring to how he'd grabbed her arms.

"Excuse my tardiness as well." Oldrich spoke in a monotone voice as he stepped out of her way and to her side. "May I escort you to your classes now?" It almost sounded like a statement more than a question, only because he knew that he didn't need to ask such a question. It was obvious that they would need to skip the formalities seeing as she would be later if they went through them. His blank lavender eyes stared down at her. Her appearance as usual was perfect, she was beautiful, but only on the outside in Oldrich's eyes. She was demanding and spoiled in his eyes. He doubted she could even do a days work with out complaining for a whole ten minutes.

But that's the way royalty was, he supposed he should be grateful that he is assisting her. The pay was wonderful, and he was cared for so what should it matter what the girl was like or what he had to do for her?

((k-kawaii: sorry for the wait!))

Marika was stomping, yes stomping not just walking, down the hallways towards the Grand Library; she wasn't in a great mood to listen to a bunch of old men telling her what she already knew. As we continued down the hallway the servants that occupied the space made sure to side step out of her way, know what kind of mood she was in. 'Pfft, they don't even bother to ask if I'm alright? They only serve me out of duty as their Lady, but wouldn't any person ask if they know someone else is in a sour mood? Bah who gives right now... such unladylike thoughts.' When she rounded the corner she felt a pair of hand grab her arms and her nose came very close to a man's chest. Looking up she came face to face with her butler, who, as she recalled, was late for picking her up and the reason why her mood was so bad. A scowl framed her face as he side step and asked his question.

"You are late Oldrich, my mood is foul at the moment so let us just hurry to my class." She flipped her hair behind her as she continued to walk towards the Library. Once there she sat at the center table and ignored the man beginning his lecture about philosophy. As the time went by, long forgotten was the lecture at hand, the Heiress foul mood yielded to a bored and indifferent front. What was the point in being mad now, what emotions should I feel now, what will I do now? The thoughts just kept flowing as it always did after she read philosophy books rather than listen to the teachers. It brought her to a calmer place but also a very unsure place. She turned her attention to the butler still standing in the room as he was ordered too, she began to think about what he was probably thinking at the moment. 'Probably thinking about how boring this is or his next duty, I wonder if he ever gets the thoughts that I do. His mind is probably to busy thinking of all the chores he has to even begin to consider it.'

As the lesson ended her stood from her sit and as she walked to the exit she faced her butler, "Come Oldrich you owe me an explanation for your tardiness this morning.

It was obvious to him her mood was foul. He could feel it radiating from her. His eyes followed her hair that she'd flipped behind her as she walked. The only thing that did seem to be appealing about her was her hair. And because of this he pitied her. She was such a pretty thing but her attitude was the opposite, he felt that it would drive the guys away from her. Then again most boys like her were the same way so he guessed he shouldn't pity her so much considering she'd probably find her an heir just like her. The thought made him cringe, hopefully if she did find someone and get married she'd also have a different buster. He doubted he could deal with someone else like her, much less someone that was a male.

He remained silent as he walked her to class, and as he stood in the library while the teacher lectured. Oldrich was happy that he got to go to classes with her, only because he too could learn as well as she. If he wasn't able to attend her classes he felt that he wouldn't know a lot of things he knows now. Although he found philosophy confusing. If he was in school he would find it was his worst subject next to math, he wasn't too good at it either.

When the lecture ended Oldrich was happy because the more he tried to make sense of it the more his head began to ache. He looked over at Marika as she approached him. He showed no emotion as he usually did but when she faced him he almost seemed to tense. "Yes, Lady Marika." Was his usual robotic response as he prepared to give her an explanation.

((perfect.imperfection It's alright, school is starting up so I might slow down! :). ))
