The Inter-Galactic Alliance Unification, the city-sized capital ship of the IGA fleet. The massive ship is home to nearly 10 million souls including the grand council with room to spare, equal measures flying fortress, city, and source of galactic trade. Home to thousands of people from multiple races from across the stars, the ship is truly one of a kind.

That was what everyone heard about the massive ship before they decided to board the ship, and it is largely true. There are people from the various races living together, mostly in peace, in the domestic levels with members of the navy going to and fro among them, all living out their simple lives. The ship isn't without problems though, being the size of a large city with a matching population, it also has all the same issues and crimes of such a city.

Available Races:

Human: Originally from planet Earth, humans have spread far and wide, at times too wide, their expansion eventually leading to a civil war between systems closer to earth and those more remote. This has led to two separate human governments, the Sol Republic and the Separatist Union. There is still bad blood between the two governments that have resulted in more than a few border scuffles that nearly blossomed into another full on war, but they both have seating on the council. It's been found that humans who were born and/or grew up far from earth, especially in the SU, have a tendency for mutations, most commonly in psychic power. These mutations were used in the War for Independence (called the War of Betrayal in the Sol Republic) which led to major advancements in robotics in the Republic with scores of soldiers undergoing cybernetic augmentations. Since the end of the war, the numbers of psychics in the SU has only increased while augmentation continues to be encouraged to some degree or another among Republic soldiers.

Canis: Though Canis themselves are highly insulted by such a comparison, they physically resemble anthropomorphic canines ranging in 'species' much like those of canines originating from earth. The Canis Empire was one of the most feared military powers in the entire universe, possessing powerful and fast ships and an understanding of warp technology that allowed them to maneuver their ships with surgical placement of in-system warps, allowing a vastly out-numbered force to drive off or even destroy much larger forces. The Canis have recently been de-militarized though due to their near-genocidal actions in their most recent war, specifically on the Felisian Oligarchy that resulted in their colonies being wiped out and their home planet reduced to a lifeless, glassed, radioactive rock. There are less than 500,000 Felisians still alive throughout the universe. Their former emperor was charged with war crimes, and the Captain who initiated the ordered bombardment when even the admiral hesitated is being hunted for the same crimes. The de-militarization was a willing one, the Canis handing over their emperor, realizing that what they had done was too much. The ships and arms of the Canis were transferred to the authority of the IGA with most of the members of the Canis military joining the peace-keeping military force. They have a voice on the council, but their rights to vote in major decisions has been revoked and they're mainly there to make things run more smoothly as the IGA goes about installing a new government.

Felisians: The endangered species of the destroyed planet Liarel, the Felisian people, what's left of them, very much resemble earth's felines, something humans found humorously ironic before the tragedy of the Felisian Genocide. Though there isn't much left to their people, they still have a voice on the council under the only leader who was off-world during the destruction of Liarel, General Fanna Dittan. There are still Felisians scattered across the stars as traders and the like, but many have come to live on the Unification for the security, making their home in a section of a domestic deck that's come to be known as New Liarel.

The Curious: The Curious are, well, a curiosity. They're not so much a race as a mass of AI programs numbering in the millions of billions on board an artificial, mechanical planet. The 'planet', known as Harbor, is basically a massive computer home to the Curious who craft mechanical forms in order to leave. No one knows how they came to be, not even the Curious know, but when a human vessel came upon them, they proved to be nothing if not helpful. Since their first contact with an organic race, many of the Curious have left Harbor in order to explore the universe, learning all they can about what they had never even thought to explore. A member of the curious serves on the council by the name and title, Voice of the Curious. The curious are renowned for their ability with computer systems, revolutionizing computational systems for everything from weapon trajectory calculations to the most efficient way to process the air through star ships and reduce the energy for recycling the air. Many find the Curious quite creepy though given their inability to understand things like personal space, or to not wake someone up in the middle of the night to ask a question. They have no set form, each individual AI creating a form that they find desirable and even returning to the Harbor to forge a new one after exploring the universe, some ranging from the creepily mechanical to the shockingly human-looking. The Curious hold a certain attachment to humans in general since they were the ones to open their eyes to the universe after simply floating through it.

More to be added as I think of them, or as people approach me with their own ideas.

Skeleton

Name: (Human names can be anything really. Curious names can be proper names to a short phrase, random word, or a sound like 'Gah'... they're an odd bunch. Felisian names are more nordic in nature while Canis names are more in the style of Chinese names)

Appearance: (A picture please, anime or at least not a real person)

Race: (If human, specify if SU or Republic)

Age: (Curious age, put how long they've existed outside of the Harbor, which can't exceed 19 years)

Occupation: (What do you do on the Unification? Teacher? Navy? Criminal? Or maybe just a student?)

Backstory: (Include what kind of neighborhood you live in on the Unification, a general view of other races, that sort of thing. Put some meat in here, don't have a tiny short thing for a backstory.)

Oddity: (If there's something odd about you. Are you a psychic mutant? Do you have augmentations, which any organic could have, even mutants. Are you a curious who always wears a wig for some strange reason?)

Layout of the IGA:

There are many levels and sections to the IGA, including 25 domestic levels, each the size of Rhode Island (roughly) and it's mainly various forms of housing for the populations of the IGA, though most tend to also have restaurants, inns, shopping centers, and the like. The lower levels tend to be more crowded and compact, and usually cheaper and more crime-ridden, while Level 1 is the apex of living and home to a large, beautiful park. There are several other levels where civilians can go freely, the 20th domestic Level also being called the Port Level due to being right next to a dock where traders and merchants come in. There is a financial level where various larger shopping centers and banks are housed. However, the levels that civilians can travel freely don't even consist of half the ship, most being off-limits for military use only.

ACCEPTED CHARACTERS:

Name: Freja Baldur

Appearance:

Race: Felisian

Age: 26

Occupation: Investigative Journalist

Backstory: Freja survived the War thanks to her job as an investigative journalist having been off-world on a shuttle transporting a small handful of survivors from one of the destroyed colonies. When they got word that their destination, their home planet, was destroyed, they simply drifted and she retreated further into the job to act as a cushion from the pain of losing her entire planet and deal with the fact that she was part of an endangered species. She eventually wound up on the Unification like many of the remaining Felisians, though she was drawn to the prospect of work, getting a job with one of the bigger, non-military news networks on the ship. She didn't move in New Liarel, instead living in a nice area on Domestic Level 7, near the shuttle port so she can get around the ship easily.

She will remain professional when dealing with Canis while on the job, but she keeps her distance from them at other times. She doesn't hate the Canis, not like most Felisians... but she does hate those who are former Imperial Military.

The Curious fascinate her and she's actually teamed up with one who serves as her partner, equal measures digital recorder and computer for putting together the articles to submit to the station along with video camera. She hasn't met many other curious, but she gets along just fine with Tuna (She's still incredibly confused by how he came up with that name).

She doesn't have a strong opinion of humans in general or even the about the two factions in general, though she finds the idea of psychic powers to be both incredibly creepy, and useful for a job like her's. She thinks the same about augmentations, but she's heard too much about augmentation addiction to risk anything more than a simple micro-com in the ear for calls.

Oddity: She only has a minor augmentation in her ear functioning like a hands-free phone for convenience. She always has her partner, Tuna, with her, the foot tall Curious acting as her partner.

Name: Telisya Nickholai

Appearance:

Race: Human of the Sol Republic

Age: 16

Occupation: Home-schooled student

Backstory: Telisya was born on Earth, Moscow to be exact, and is the half-Russian/half-Chinese daughter of Councilor Chóngdé Nickholai, her mother and the Sol Republic's voice on the IGA. Her late father was a scientist famous for his work on the science of augmentations and robotics. Telisya is looking to be every bit the genius he was, already having made further breakthroughs in her short time involved in the science of robotics, AI, and augmentations, though she sees it as art, not just science. She lives on Domestic Level 1, the finest level of housing, just as all members of the council and high-ranking officers live, and has been home-schooled all her life.

She doesn't really have a strong opinion about Canis, Felisians, or even members of the SU. All she cares about is her 'art'. The Curious though... she doesn't really see them as other people, but as a scientific wonder that she wants nothing more than to take apart and see what makes them tick, both with the hardware, and do the same to their AI core.

Oddity: Despite all her work with augmentations, she doesn't have any herself, not even minor ones. She is odd though in that she only ever works with pencil and paper instead of data pads, unless doing work with software in which case she has a very intricate VR set up at home. She also has a love of carrots, but hates sweets.

Backstory:
Fang is from a pretty accepting part of the ship. Although he lives with his canis kin, he doesn't spend a lot of time there. In fact, he works as a bartender for the humans on Thursday through Monday nights. Even though he's of fur and fangs, he has always gotten along with the humans, finding them very similar to he. He often talks about wars and battles when he's serving drinks, which tends to be a thing of interest for the humans. His best friend is actually a human and he's often seen out with him on nights he's not working. Aside from that, Fang also plays cards with a group of humans, often times winning because he can sense a bluff just by the sweet scent of their sweat.

Because of this mingling with outsiders, some of his canis breed aren't too fond of him, but they know better than to mess with the trained hunter. He keeps to one of the more open sections of his kind, the one that's full of children and nursing women. Some find him perverted for living with kids and pregnant women, but Fang finds them easy to get along with because they're so innocent and focused on life.

With regard to the other two races on the ship, the Curious and the Felisians, Fang has little interaction. From time to time, he does converse with some Curious at the marketplace, finding them innocent and relaxing. At one point he was dating a Felisians, but as soon as word got out, she was beat so he ended that relationship. He's now a loner, but still hopes that maybe one day he can reconnect with his kitten counterpart.

As far as surviving the war goes, Fang was a large part of it. There's a reason his kin don't mess with him. He was right up there in the ranks, serving and working for some of the top dogs in his field. Fang started as a foot soldier but was soon promoted to a spy. He served as a spy for a year and eventually asked to be "demoted" back to his ground soldier position. It wasn't long after that when the war ended and Fang found refuge on this floating ship. Although most of his comrades perished, a few of them still hook up on Wednesday nights for a good game of darts and shots.
Oddity:
First and foremost, Ye Fang is an African Hunting Dog, which in and of itself is pretty rare. Second odd thing about him, both his right arm and right leg are mechanical. Yeah, there's fur covering it now, but if you put away the fur, you'll find he's got mechanical limbs on the right side.

Another oddity is that Fang's attracted to Felisians. He obtained this attraction when one decided to tend to his wounds. He had gotten into a bar fight and this one kitten noticed him limping back home. Out of the kindness of her heart, she mended him up. Since then, he's had a different outlook on the cats.

Looks about 20 to humans, but has only been in use of her body and off world for about 4.

Occupation:
Her primary objective is as a "Gatherer" meaning, she learns all she can, gathering information on anything and everything, to take back home.

Backstory:
Not much is known about Azalea, as is common with her people. She has always shown a high curiosity for people and for knowledge. She boarded the ship not to long ago, in order to do some reaserch on the people living within. She is one of the few who seem to fit in flawlessly with humans. She looks like a beautiful young woman about the age of twenty. Though her physical appearance does give away a more mechanical nature. Her body is made of sleek black metal, that seems to never scratch or lose its shine. Her right arm has a white glove like addition, along with a gold, pink and red wrist accent. A similar wing like skirt adorns her hips, while a similar visor like helmate adorns her head. Although she is peaceful in nature, she seems to understand the need for protection, and is fully equipt to handle battle, though it is only a last resort.

She shows an affection towards most creatures and people. She has a kind and generous nature, she is not one to typically turn down someone who is in need of help. She does not seem to like violence, even though she is equipted for it and able to handle herself. She is more interested in gathering knowledge, and learning all that she can about people and anything really. She has spent time looking over the ship, and people. She has decided to remain onboard, and spend time among them in a more intamit way, in order to learn more about them. Many are not to sure about her, due to the mysteries about her kind, as well as her intrest and dealings with many of the other races. She is curious to learn more about why people are so controversial about allies and such.

Oddity:
She has a deep love and intrest in butterflies, which is a huge influence on her appearance. She also has adapted a love and tallent for singing. With her body being fully equipted for potential battle, many wonder where she keeps the weapons on her slender figure.

Name: Zhanshi Lang (Zhan)

Appearance:

Has, a bionic eye that when not needing it during combat, wears a leather type eyepatch. Decorated with his former squads ensign, a canine tooth biting into a planet.

Race: Canis

Age: 32

Occupation: A security consultant to the I.G.A

Backstory: Zhan lives in a small apartment in a maintenance quarter, it's not officially a habitat area, but many shanty style buildings have appeared and individuals, either the ones that are poor or low lives and fugitive criminals or refugees live amongst the squalor and disused cargo containers. He keeps himself to himself, often off ship for long periods of time. When he is aboard he keeps company at several of the more shadier bars that have been established a den of smugglers and thieves.
Zhan was a previous member of the Canis Imperial Special Forces, and was a loyal and highly decorated soldier, he had several commendations for combat against the Felisians, and seems to have an enmity against them. But strangely soon after the destructive assault on the Felisians home world, he went AWOL from the Canis military, and aided the I.G.A in the disarmament of the Canis Forces.
Keeping himself to himself, it appears that he doesn't have any particular friends but often talks with a sleazy human inn keep, and seems to at least tolerate this man known as Squidie.
He never seems to have any money problems in fact despite living in a practically run down shack, he gives large donations to certain charitable organisations on board. And has been seen transferring large sums of credits to either Squidie or other humans, sometimes for no obvious reasons, sometimes in exchange for rare or valuable liquor, and whiskys or cigars and other substances from across the galaxy.

Oddity: Although Zhans name may be known to those that have a good degree of knowledge of the wars between the Canis and Felisians, since many former military are adorned with scars at least, not to mention limbs and appendages injured or missing replaced by bionics. He probably couldn't be picked out by anything except perhaps his eye, though still not that uncommon. But one of his canine teeth, his upper left is noticeably longer than the right, and the right being also chipped that leads to contast the difference even more.
During the later battles after Zhan lot his left eye, he would wear a bionic that would have a protruding ring of blades that made him infamous, although after demilitarisation he tends to only wear his leather patch.

((Just post in here OOC, but put double parentheses around to differentiate, and again, I'm super sorry, but here's a post!))

05:50 on Domestic Level 19, home to The Den, the Canis equivalent of a Chinatown, there was a rather nice bar that catered solely to Canis and humans of the Republic called the Bandolier, known for making veterans feel welcome. There was laughter, drinking, gambling, and various games as soldiers shared their war stories... but it was interrupted by a Curious walking in, though it was moving strangely. Strange whimper-like sounds came out of it and it moved twitchily, as if it were trying to not move while still moving. As it entered, a nearby patron frowned, getting up and saying, "Hey, robot! We don't like this your kind around, alright? Too much expla-" He was interrupted by the Curious looking up, saying, "P-please... I... I don't... want to do this... I-I... I don't want to know... I don't want to know what happens next! P-please... RUN!" With an electronic cry, it doubled over and began to change, the patrons near it backing up, several recognizing the sight of a bomb rising out of the Curious. No one got to do much of anything before it became an issue beyond them.

Freja groaned as she heard her com link begin to ring. A useful as the com mod was, she couldn't just smack the phone to shut it up since, well, it was in her ear. Sitting up, her fur and hair a mess, she tapped the com, mumbling something that vaguely sounded like, "Hello?" Immediately, her publicist started yelling, "Baldur, by all that is holy, tell me you're at the Den already?!" Ears flattening and wincing, she adjusted the volume, her voice more legible as she asked, "No, I was asleep? Why, what's up?" Her eyes widened as he spoke.

15 minutes later, and she was running towards the scene of the bomb blast that had reduced the Bandolier and everything within four blocks to rubble, ash, and fire. Luckily, they weren't close to a bulkhead, otherwise it may have breached. Tuna was floating behind her as she hastily pulled her hair into a ponytail while putting her press badge on, eager to get in and on the ground floor of the first terrorist attack on an IGA vessel.

It just had to be the night of his shift when the Curious caring as bomb came into the area. Fang, not really one to judge, actually felt sorry for the little bot. Someone seemed to enjoy tinkering with the Curious and forcing them to follow out suicide missions. It was probably more common than one would think, only the agencies did a great job keeping it under wraps. Fang, being a dog of the military, knew that war was on the horizon. He refused to get back into it, but with the way things were, Fang knew it wouldn't be long before he was forced back onto the field.

Finding shelter behind and below the bar (it was built to be bullet proof as well as shock and flame proof, on the off chance unhappy patrons decided to blow holes in people or light a match over liquor). Within moments of spying the bomb, the canine was diving into the small nook below the bar and even managed to latch a door backwards to keep the licking flames from eating him alive. Some debris and shattered glass coated Fang's fur, but it was nothing compared to the oozing burns on his fur. Thank god for his concrete bunker-like bar. It really had saved his life! He would have to let his boss know the good news -- that the expensive restoration saved his best server. On second thoughts, maybe he wouldn't bring up such a sore subject. The concrete bar cost a lot, but it created a rich atmosphere that most enjoyed. There was something grungy and cold about it that really drew people in. Perhaps it was the fact that the bar was made of concrete and that the place looked like an old fallout vault? There used to be gas masks hanging from the wall and the door into the back was actually a giant bank-like locking door. Crates lined the walls and tables, each reading different brands of ammo and explosives. It was all for kicks though. Really, it was the best way to make the soldiers feel that good old sense of irony and war pride. After all, without their service, the world might be nothing more than underground vault systems. At least now they were high in the sky and surviving like no other! Guns, knives, and flags were tossed here and there, too. And, on the back wall, were pictures of every serviving veteran. It really was a classy place, but in an ironic kind of way.

Kicking out the door, the dog man scrambled to his feet. The pads on his feet instantly burned upon touching the hot coals and ash. Skipping across the floor, he eventually found a clear spot. It took a while to get there though, as the smoke made seeing hard and breathing even harder. Doubling over, he could have sworn black clouds of smoke were coming from his mouth. Perhaps he was on the verge of hallucinations? Carbon mononxide poisoning had the affect on people. Flopping over, he grasped for air and found himself belly crawling to what he believed was cleaner area. Paws sprawled outward, his hand gripped something strong and sturdy. Using at it as hoist, he pulled himself in to discover that he was actually standing below what looked like a black cat.

"Oi, I must be hallucinating," he choked up. And before he knew it, he was finding sleep beside the sturdy legs of the cat woman who was on the scene of the crime.

((Hope the description of the bar is okay.))
