Shawn had been up all night. He honestly hadn't meant to; but as soon as he had buried his head in his papers he hadn't taken a break other than to get coffee -- in short, he had lost track of time. It was morning then, and between long gulps of sugarless bottom-of-the-pot-been-on-all-day coffee, he worked on his case. He was working on his second that night, the one in which he second chaired. A woman was suing a company for the death of her husband. It wasn't a big deal for him, considering he had done several cases like it. The only thing that unnerved him was that this same company had been sued for the same reasons twice before but had won, somehow pulling out a victory when everyone knew they were in the wrong. It was odd.

His office was in disarray, or at least, his desk and the area around it was. Papers were everywhere, stacked and crumpled and highlighted, scribbled on and tossed aside. A computer was open, though not doing anything more than playing jazz music; though normally a soothing measure it did nothing to jump start his now sleep-deprived mind.

Not much could be said for his appearance, either. His hair was greasy for rubbing his hand through it one to many times, his jacket was off and slung who-knows where. His black tie was loosened, shirt crumpled. He looked a wreck.

But that was okay. He had finished his closing and his head was on his desk before he could think about anything else. He was asleep in no time at all.

Chris navigated his way skillfully through the centre room, already longing for the safeness of his own office. A crisp white shirt covered his back and black trousers helped keep the outfit away from the casual borders. He carried his black brief case in the grasp of his left hand, it was a bad habit of his, to take work home in case some idea struck him. As he turned the handle gratefully, launching himself into the room and pushing the door closed he slipped the smart black jacket from his arm and onto the back of his chair. Chris studied his own office for a few moments, admiring the order it had. Sure there was an unmessy pile of papers and a few folders on his desk were he'd been working on them but everything else was carefully stored away.

Looking over his speech for the fourth time, chewing his bottom lips slightly as he did so and pushing back his fringe that fell into his eyes when looking down at something. The clean chestnut brown hair was cut short with a side fringe, not a big one like the ones he'd been informed of were what 'emo kids' had, no, just something to define him. He smiled brightly and stood up, exiting his own office confident that for now he had little to do. A brighter smile took a hold of his face as he recognized the head though the semi shut blinds that covered the transpart plastic in the center of the door. Chris knocked his knuckles against the wooden fame of the door, not bothering to wait for an answer and letting himself in straight away. "Morning sleepy." He said with a chuckle; his emerald eyes falling onto the untidy desk.

"Please turn of the sun," Shawn grumbled, not moving from his position on his desk. An hour and a half of sleep. Was that enough to start the day? He supposed it had to be, though he realized he probably should have called it quits a long while back.

The two worked at a rather large firm, dealing in anything and everything from tax to criminal law. Shawn's preference was criminal, though he had drabbled in tax from time to time, mostly to lift some of the burden from a fellow co-worker. He had been at the firm for six years, having been recruited just out of lawschool. He had been the top of his class at Harvard Law, so it wasn't surprising. He was nearing the age of thirty, and was planning on making partner at thirty-five. He had been putting enough hours in recently to do so.

After a moment, he lifted his head and looked at Chris, "You look clean today. I finished my closing for our case --" There was a yawn here, "-- I'm all ready for tomorrow."

Head met desk and he was back to the same position as before.

"Yes, the turning of the day does tend to make difference as to whether you should be awake or asleep." He mummered under his breath.

Although Chris admired Shawn for his working skills sometimes he did wonder why he tried so hard. He personally didn't see much advantage to trying over the top hard for a case but then again, he reminded himself that they were two different people. Chris had been a pretty average student throught his lawschooling with the ocassional excellant pieces and rare terrible ones. Chris had gone through a few firms over the years and had finally settled down at this one making this coming year his third. It was strange to stand and make comparsions for a few seconds but he shrugged it off, if he wanted to be better then he'd just take a page from Shawn's book and hope for the best.

"If you were ready I doubt you'd be so tired. Maybe you should think a little more about your health before cases?" He suggested as he rolled his eyes at Shawn's tired state. Chris tapped the desk with his foot and turned around thinking it best to leave the shattered guy to his sleep.
