The Legend

Many years ago God told the animals that they were invited to a banquet he was going to hold the next day and had specifically instructed them not to be late. The rat, being mischievous in nature told his neighbor, the cat, that the banquet was being held the day after it was actually scheduled. After a quick thanks from the cat to the rat the animals nestled down for the night. The next day twelve of the thirteen invited animal guests arrived in the line with the rat riding atop the head of the ox and leaping down to be first. After the rat came the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the ram, the monkey, the rooster, the dog and lastly the boar. The animals then feasted all day and all night long for several days. The cat however, falling for the trick, slept in and did not get to participate in the banquet. God then despised the cat for being late and did not allow him to be a part of the calendar and be honored. This brought the cat much grief and he had grown to very much dislike the rat.

Story So Far...

Due to past problems with Zodiac members acting out the Sohmas have removed themselves from Japan, the 'God' believing that Japan was the cause of the previous 'God's' problems, and have come to settle now in Berlin Germany. The Sohma family still own an estate that is still rather large and holds most of the family though their name as been changed to Schomar due to the change of language. Like in the past there are a few of the Zodiac members that are permitted to live outside of the estate, but they must get the permission of the acting 'God' and must not be any further than 10 miles from the main estate. When it comes to schooling it's slightly lenient, as they are permitted to go to co-ed schools with the 'God's' permission of course. Otherwise they are to attend a same sex school to protect the secret. It is the day before New Years, transitioning from the year of the Rabbit to the year of the Dragon, and so the Zodiac members and the cat are to return to the main estate for the celebration. Of course during the celebration the cat is to be excluded, however their attendance to the estate is still required.

The Schomar/Sohma Curse


For reasons unknown the Sohma family has been 'blessed' with a zodiac curse. Thirteen children of this family are born as the thirteen animals from the zodiac legend. When these zodiac members, plus the cat, are embraced by a member of the opposite gender that isn't one of the zodiac, or when they are weakened and ill they revert to their animal form.

Now as mentioned the cat too is included in this even though the cat isn't technically part of the zodiac. Perhaps out of all the animals it is the cat that is cursed the most. The Sohma that is the cat must wear a beaded bracelet made from the bones of holy priests and dyed with blood giving the beads their alternating red and white color. If these beads are removed for whatever reason then the cat member shall revert to a monstrous form with a horrendous odor that is called the cat's 'true form'.

There is also the role of a 'God' within the Sohma family that is then the head of the whole family. Unlike the animals there is no alter form that they must worry about. Instead they rule over the zodiacal members and the cat with them obeying the will and orders of the 'God'. It is also a well known fact that some of the animal members and the 'God' do not get along, and this holds especially true for the cat. Unfortunately with large amounts of power comes draw backs. Usually the 'God' does not live to lead a very long life and many times is sickly and bodily weak.

The 'God' and animal members are forever tied to one another, which means when one dies another Sohma child that is born takes that members place. This of course means that during any given time only one child that holds an animal curse will be alive at a time. In other words there are no doubles of the same animal born at once. This also goes for the 'God'. If the 'God' were to die the curse would not be broken, merely a new 'God' would be born to take the role.

Breaking the Curse

This is much harder to do then one may think as the true details of it are uncertain for the zodiac members. It is believed though that it is tied to true love and to the 'God' themselves. Killing the 'God' will not break the curse and will only bring about another 'God' being born. However perhaps it's tied to the 'God' letting go or the members finding someone else to live for other than the curse. However this is merely speculation...

The Sohma House Rules

The orders of the God is to be followed
Do not reveal the curse to anyone not within the family
Do not embrace someone of the opposite gender that is not part of the zodiac or you'll risk everything
The God must approve of any relationships among the zodiac members
Romances between a zodiac member and an outsider is not to occur
Everyone in the zodiac and the cat must return to the main house for New Years
The cat must not be shown mercy or be treated kindly as the cat is not an actual member of the zodiac
Everyone must either be holding a job, or attending a school, there is no slacking


Anyone caught breaking these rules will be locked in 'the room' for however long the God sees fit.

If you know of someone breaking these rules and you don't report it you will both be punished severely

If you keep breaking the same rules then you will be whipped soundly.

Overview of the Typical Zodiac Characteristics

Rat
Years: 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, 1948, 1936, 1924, 1912, 1900
Characteristics: Those who are born in the year of the rat are known to be innovative, intelligent and full of crafty ideas. They are hardworking and most often perfectionists. They are also collectors by nature, and are probably the only ones who are awake when the world is asleep. Rats basically need to be careful with their temper and greed. These people are noted for their charm and their attraction to those of the opposite sex. They are best matched with the Dragons, Oxen, and Monkeys. Their archenemies are the Horses.

Ox (Buffalo/Cow)
Years: 2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, 1961, 1949, 1937, 1925, 1913, 1901
Characteristics: Honest, patient and conservative. They also speak very little though when they do it is very eloquent. The Ox is most happy when left alone to their devices. They are also great parents because the Ox is regarded as a dependable creature. However, they are also stubborn creatures. Because of their dependable character, you can trust that an Ox will always finish the task laid out to them despite having a slow start. They are good friends with Snakes, Rats, and Roosters, but totally at ends with Goats.

Tiger
Years: 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950, 1938, 1926, 1914, 1902
Characteristics: Just like the creature, Tigers are brave and powerful creatures. Tiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy. They can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. Sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in a poor, hasty decision or a sound decision arrived at too late. Good friends to the Tiger are Dogs, Dragons, and Horses. Monkeys are a no-no.

Rabbit
Years: 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927, 1915, 1903
Characteristics: It is said that those born in the year of the Rabbit are the luckiest of them all. This is because the Rabbit have good characters. They are gentle, talented, friendly and always gracious. These wonderful qualities make them highly popular among their friends. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They can be prone to gossip though. Good friends are Goats, Dogs, and Pigs; but Roosters are not on a Rabbit's list of buddies.

Dragon
Years: 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, 1940, 1928, 1916, 1904
Characteristics: Healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn are those born under the sign of the Dragon. They also have an interesting imagination. On the downside, the Dragons are moody creatures who strive for perfection. They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragon people are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them. Dragons should be aware of Dogs but are buddies with Rats, Roosters, and Monkeys.

Snake

Characteristics: While many deemed the Snakes are sly and cunning, the Snakes are actually talented and graceful creatures. They are also wise and subtle in their ways. They are generally people who care about their looks and are sometimes rather stingy. Snake people are often quite vain and selfish, yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate. However, if only the Snake knows how to make use of their true qualities, they will find themselves quite popular. A Snake is best with the Rooster and Ox, while it hates the Pigs.

Horse
Years: 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966, 1954, 1942, 1930, 1918, 1906
Characteristics: A Horse's high spirit and energy are engaging. Their positive outlook in life also makes them well-liked among friends. By nature, those who are born in the year of the Horse love to travel, preferably alone. Because of their character, they are generally impatient creatures, therefore they should learn to chill out and finish whatever tasks they've started on. Good mates for the Horse are Tigers, Sheep, or Dogs. Rats are definitely out.

Ram{Sheep/Goat}
Years: 2003, 1991, 1979, 1967, 1955, 1943, 1931, 1919, 1907
Characteristics: People born in the Year of Ram are elegant and highly accomplished in the arts. This is a loving and gentle bunch. They are also elegant and creative. They can be rather shy at times, but once they learn to step out of their comfort zones, they should do well. Sometimes clumsy in speech, they are always passionate about what they do and what they believe in. Ram people are wise, gentle, and compassionate Goats are not particularly friendly with the Ox, but enjoy being around Pigs, Horses, and Rabbits.

Monkey
Years: 2004, 1992, 1980. 1968, 1956, 1944, 1932, 1920, 1908
Characteristics: Monkeys are fun people to be with because they are confident, energetic and happy. They are also curious creature. Attention is always showered upon them because of these attitudes. However, if a monkey gets overly confident, they can confuse themselves. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful but they have a disconcerting habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now, and if they cannot get started immediately, they become discouraged and sometimes leave their projects. Although good at making decisions, they tend to look down on others Monkeys are advised to stay away from Tigers and find solace in Dragons or Rats.

Rooster

Characteristics: And so when the Rooster crows at the crack of dawn, it wakes us up. Roosters are generally punctual people, totally reliable and independent. People born in the Rooster Year are often a bit eccentric, and often have rather difficult relationship with others. They frequently are loners and though they give the outward impression of being adventurous, they are timid. They can be selfish and too outspoken, but are always interesting and can be extremely brave. Because of this, the dependable Ox, eccentric Dragon, and shrewd Snakes make good friends while the solid Rabbit smells trouble.

Dog
Years: 2006, 1994, 1982, 1970, 1958, 1946, 1934, 1922, 1910
Characteristics: As most of you already know, Dogs are sporting, loyal and honest people. They are also helpful and positive, although sometimes they tend to worry too much.But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. Dogs make good friends with Horses, Rabbits, or Tigers, but beware of the Dragons.

Pig (Boar)

Characteristics: Noble and strong, the Boar or Pigs are noble creatures and will always put others ahead of themselves, especially their family. Friendships they build will last a long time even though the reckless nature of a Pig can sometimes be tough to handle.They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They don't make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Pig Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. Pigs are a bane to themselves, therefore making friends with Rabbits or Rams would be a good idea.

Gender: Male

Personality: Fedele is the God over the Sohma family. He tries his best to be as mean as he can. This young boy is manipulative, controlling, and demeaning. If you break one of his rules of course you will be severely punished and he will make sure he knows your biggest fears and use them to his advantage. He seems somewhat distant between himself and most of the Sohma’s especially those who continually break his rules {and of course the cat}. Then there are those that are his pets.
Honestly, Fedele hates having to treat his relatives this way. It hurts him and upsets him, but as God he knows he has to do it or else no one would respect him. There are only a few off the Zodiac that Fedele lets see him cry and allows them to comfort him though they know if they told anyone they would receive severe punishment.

Zodiac: God

History: When this boy was born he was just about ripped from his mother’s womb and taken right to the household. He has no recollection of his mother or his father. Fedele has always been taken care of to an extreme extent. Making sure that he was the perfect temperature and his food was cooked just the way he liked it. At the age of three he was instructed on how to be God. The current God at the time was very ill and would only last a few more days before her time was up. At first Fedele was horrified to be becoming God at such an early age, but he knew he had no choice. He also was against the idea of being mean to his relatives, but of course the current God used “persuasion” to make the young boy think otherwise.

When he turned four a young girl was brought to the household. He was told her name was Magdelena and she was the rat. As she came into the household she clung to the leg of her escort. He offered her his hand and she shook her head. Looking up to the person who brought her there the young boy smiled, and said, “I want her to be my friend.” Now he is rather close to the rat girl and favors her quite often. There are others he favors, but his real reason for favoring her so much is he loves her. She is quite unaware of his affection, but he loves her, thus he has much distaste for the dragon since he knows that Magdelena is drawn to him. Often one can see Fedele’s distaste for him threw his anger.

Fedele knows that he is to die by the time he turns 40. He hopes he will live a bit longer than that since he does his best to stay healthy, but it is highly doubtful. As God he still does get sick very often and rarely leaves the estate. When he is healthy though, he slips away from the estate in a disguise. It helps him escape the world he is trapped in.

Character name: Magdelena Schomar
Age: 18
Gender: female
Personality: Magdelena is a very smart girl. She is towards the top of her class for all of the effort she puts into her school work. Generally she is a nice girl, but she does have quite the temper, which is not a pretty sight. Maggie is very popular with the boys at college. Though she is known for being a charmer she is actually quite shy. Once she opens up she is quite charming and kind.

Zodiac: Rat
History: When Magdelena was born after her father had decided to leave the family. Her older brother, Franz hadn’t wanted to hold the new baby, so at first Magdelena’s secret remained as such. During her time in the hospital she hadn’t come into contact with any males who made an attempt to hug her… her secret remained safe until she went home. Magdelena’s mother had felt weak and asked Franz to get Magdelena from the car. To his surprise when he hugged his little sister she turned into a brown mouse. He almost dropped her, but remembered the story of their family that their mother had told him. When Franz brought Magdelena into the house she screeched and told him to get rid of it. He tried to explain it was Magdelena, but she didn’t want to hear that her daughter was a monster. The family urged the mother to take care of the rat until she could be taken care of by the other Sohmas. Magdelena was taken away from her mother when she was three years old. When this young girl was brought to the house she was introduced to God, who is only a year older than her. She was raised to be his friend and always be kind to him.

Franz still calls Magdelena often staying close to his little sister while their mother has outright rejected her. Magdelena is not sure what type of profession she would like to pursue so she is just taking basic classes at school. She does not have to worry about paying for it because her father sent her enough money to pay for her schooling {once finding out it was of course his bloodline that allowed her to be cursed}. Magdelena gets along quite well with the rabbit, cat, and ram… She gets along with the dog some of the time, but at times he really gets her aggravated.

Other: Magdelena attends the same university as Keeno, the dragon. She thinks he is very attractive, but has no real nerve to actually strike up a conversation with the boy. Maggie speaks a little bit with him, and hopes she will eventually work up the nerve to speak with him more often. That is indeed a tattoo on her arm.
Usually she wears a dress with some sort of punk like belt, boots, tights, and a scarf. Madgelena really likes fruit and animals... not hawks or birds of prey though {they horrify her}. She dislikes her own temper, and chocolate. She fears lonliness.

Character name: Keeno Schomar

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Personality: To most who don’t actually know him well, Keeno can appear to be short-tempered but confident in everything that he does. To others that he is close with though, know that this is merely an outside and protective mask to shield his gentler, soft hearted side. Most of the time he can appear to have a large amount of energy, and that can make it difficult for some to keep up with him. He’s quite powerful and that is effectively displayed when angered. Usually though people will only be able to draw out a small amount of his anger, and it takes quite a bit for him to completely lose it. Unfortunately at times he can be a bit of a perfectionist and won't be satisfied until something is completely perfect by his standards.

Zodiac: Dragon

History: When Keeno was born his parents were quite shocked, especially when his mother embraced her baby and he became a rather small seahorse, they knew then that the woman had given birth to one of the Zodiac. This had caused mixed issues among his parents. His mother grew to be overly protective of him, especially when his more distant father chose to leave, feeling that his wife had failed him in giving him a normal son and one he could be proud of. Keeno knew though that his mother’s over protectiveness was merely because she felt that if she wasn’t he would leave her too.

This of course made his conversing with the other zodiac members rather difficult, as his mother didn’t want him to be away from her for too long. This of course caused him to dislike clingy people. He had managed to convince his mother to allow him to attend high school and then college, although his class amount was limited. He also managed to get a small part time job at a pet store, even though his mother wishes for him to quit it so that he could be with her more. Usually after work and classes he usually would try and come by the main house to interact with a few of the members. He found himself drawn closest to the Rat, Snake and Monkey. Though between the three he finds himself a bit more drawn to the Rat and feels that he probably would even more if they spent a little more time together and really got to know one another.

Other: Keeno likes animal, especially aquatic and lizards, kendo, swords, classical music, renaissance painters (Especially Leonardo Davinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti), and movies in the action, horror, and a few comedy genres. He dislikes clingy people and seafood. Any time he transforms into his animal form he is in need of water as soon as possible in order to breathe. This of course had caused many of those around him at the time, mainly just other Sohmas and his mother, to panic about whether to use salt water or regular water. And for some reason unknown to him their zodiac God seems to have a high dislike for him, even though he's sure he hadn't done anything to specifically upset him. This of course causes him to be slightly wearier of Fedele, which of course means being alone with him makes him a bit uncomfortable as he could very well come out with a few new 'bumps and bruises' if he's not careful. He also has a dragon tattoo across his back and another that expands down to the middle of his right arm and is green and black, perhaps to try and make up for the tiny and colorfulness of his 'dragon' form. The lizard around him in the picture is his pet iguana Leonardo Buonarroti Mozart or 'Leo' for short.

Age: 15
Gender: Female
Personality: Inuyami is a very outgoing and friendly person. She enjoys the company of others though at times she can be a bit of a lone wolf. Inuyami is not much of a partier but she like to spend time with her friends and family. She is loyal and trustworthy which is why so many of the other zodiac members can look to her for comfort in the tought times.

History: When Inuyami was born she was very sick. She lived in the hospital for the first three years of her life before her immunity system was strong enough for her to be out in the world. This devistated the new Shoma parents and they vowed they'd always be there for their daughter.
Being of an upper class family, Inuyami's parents dotted upon their 'special' daughter. Showering her with gifts ever since she was a baby. Her mother does all the chores of cleaning on a regulary daily bases to keep the house free of germs. If Inuyami offered to help, she was pushed away.
"Let mommy do it, little Yami! You could get hurt, we don't want that." Inuyami had heard that speach so many times she could recite it in her sleep. Her father on the other hand worked night and day, hardly spending anytime with her. In his mind, he had to provide Inuyami with the best clothes and toys money could buy.
When Inuyami entered the nineth grade he father decided that it was best to buy a second home and have Inuyami live their with her assistant. (Whom would serve more like a nanny.) She's been their for a year now and the small house, less the 5 miles from the main estate, has become a popular hang out spot for the Shoma younglings.

Personality: Stern, overly compassionate, easily irritable, neat freak,

History: Garrie always grew up watching the cursed members of the family suffer from odd misfortunes, and he always thought it unfair that they should have to suffer the way the did. He has worked for Inuyami's parents as her assistant for the past year now but he's know her since she was born. She was quite captivating to watch grow up because despite her parents, she remained the kindest sweetest little girl he'd ever seen.
Now living with his cousin, Garrie spend most of his time playing den mother to Inuyami. He cooks like Martha Stewart and cleans like Danny Tanner!

Other: Garrie comes off as a jerk at first but he's just a teddy bear. When he is drunk though, he acts like Shigure.

{sorry for the delay in my posting. ^^; College is utterly ridiculous to me right now. But Chem Exam over so post time. C=}

Fedele Schomar awoke early Monday morning with a splitting headache. Yet he wasn't exactly surprised, usually he did wake up with something wrong with him. It was not uncommon for any of the Schomar's cursed as God to wake up sickly thus was the usual curse. Lightly he rolled over in his bed hoping his headache would fade. He had wanted to runaway and spy on Magdelena. At times he would sneak out of the house in one of his disguises just to get away and seem normal. Sure, his best friend didn't know about it, but she wasn't supposed to. Otherwise how would Fedele spy on her. Spy on the rat and find out if she was speaking to the terrible dragon again. God hated the dragon all because he knew that the pink haired female of his dreams had feelings for him. Envious as he was he still could not bring himself to be overly mean to Maggie. She was his best friend from childhood, how could anyone expect him to be overly mean. The dark blue haired male rolled around a bit before exhausting himself. Laying back he threw his arm over his eyes. Lightly he heard a knock on his door. Removing his arm he looked to the door.

"Come in," he said softly. As the door opened he couldn't help, but smile at the sight of Magdelena. Her long pink wavy hair spilling over her left shoulder. Dressed in a dark gray long sleeved dress, maroon tights, dark brown cowboy boots, and a maroon scarf she knelt walked over to where her friend was laying. As she came closer Fedele could make out the soft line of black that lined her lid that she always wore. Her eye shadow was a pale gray shade. Lightly she knelt down beside his bed. "How are you feeling Fedele?" she asked softly. "A small headache... otherwise I'm alright," he answered quietly. Whenever his nurse wasn't going to be in, Maggie liked to check in on him. Reaching up she brushed a few hairs from his face. "Well, I have to get to class, but I'll be back later, kay?" she questioned with a crooked smile. Fedele nodded and smiled back. He watched and she turned and left closing the door behind her.

Magdelena Schomar sighed softly. She hated that he treated her so differently from the other's, but of course they were childhood friends so she would be. Walking away from the door her boots clicked softly on the hardwood floor of the house. Fedele's room was on the first floor of the house since at times he could barely make it up the stairs, so it was better this way. Quietly she slipped out the front door closing it behind her and began walking off to school. The rat hoped that the dragon would be in class today. Keeno, she certainly had a thing for him that God was entirely aware of. She felt awful that he was treated poorly, and she assumed it was all her fault. The walk to her college was about a fifteen minute walk. Entering the building her class was in she went over to the stairs and walked the few flights to the fourth floor. Sitting down in room 415 she sat where she usually sat. The third row to the front and towards the middle. Maggie hoped that Keeno would sit by her. At times she felt like she was always hoping to sit by her, but it's not like she would be able to hold an easy conversation with him. The rat always got nervous around him though she wanted to get to know him so badly.
