The froggy was so hard to get pictures off! He was hiding behind all the lilly pads and was so far out. Haha. But I knew that's what I wanted to do for your contest. :)

Yeah, frogs are hard to catch glimpses of, much less photos! We have a tiny little 3 foot pond in our backyard where frogs sometimes take up residence. Usually the only sign that they're there is the sploosh of them jumping into the water as you walk by.

We have a huge pond (try 60x90ft). Haha. It houses HUNDREDS of frogs. Huge bull frogs and all their little frog babies and pond frogs and all their babies. Haha. It's crazy. But finding a frog who won't jump is haaaaaard. I waited a while until I found him!

When I was younger, I would catch the frogs by hand! That was so much fun. I learned my froggy patience from that. You had to be really quite and really slow until you...STRIKE for the frog. Lol.

I can imagine if I did that I would just fall into the water with my fantastic balance skills XD, so I am impressed!

I was really a tomboy when I was little. I'd love to scatch some frogs now...but they're so skittish anymore. But balance wasn't a problem. I just laid on the bank on my belly. But I was always stinky and muddy from the pond water. haha

Hehee, that's awesome though! And I was always romping around in nature, and still dooooo. I never minded getting muddy, but it was always the trek back home soaking wet that was unfortunate.

I never cared. Sometimes I'd jump into the pond and swim in my clothes. :)

I've done that! We had a creek, not a pond. It was really deep where I lived, especially after we build a dam type area, and so we could fish and swim there. :D I even fell in there in the middle of the winter. But thats another story. XD

Ooh, that sounds like a nice pond to have! I've never caught any of the frogs that frequent our pond, but I caught a few eensy little ones at a nearby creek. We've also had a few giant toads visit our yard. I poked them. A turtle, too!

I love turtles. :) My boyfriend wants one...and I do, too! He wants to get one for school (though they're illegal to have there). Haha. We have a turtle every once in a while. We saved one once (he'd been hit by a car and lost his front leg). He lived in our smaller pond for a long time and then wandered off one day. I've always hoped he is alright. :)

Woody - Thanks! I are space goddess.

neller - Aww, poor little guy. Glad he was okay!

One time my dad found a turtle in the middle of the road. It hadn't been hit, but there wasn't anywhere my dad could move the turtle to where he wouldn't come right back to the road. So he brought him home and we kept him for a few months.
We took this box that was about the size of a refrigerator box and laid it on its side and cut the side (now top) off, so it was this big long open top box. We filled it with sand and got a heat lamp, some rocks, and a little half-log for him to go into. We also inlaid a pie tin in the sand and filled it with water so he'd have a little shallow pool. We named him Samson. He was very good at escaping his box. I'd come down to feed him and I'd find him halfway across the basement, covered in cobwebs.
We were planning on acclimating him to the wild again after a while, so we started putting him in the backyard for a few hours at a time. One time he just... vanished. I know it sounds crazy to say that my pet turtle ran away, but that turtle could haul ass!

People think turtles are slow animals, but they can really MOVE. Kinda like old people. :3

there are tons of turtles here in florida, most people stop to move them out of the road.

That was one of the turn ons when I was dating my husband I was still new to florida and he stopped and rescued the turtles. It was so cute! nothing like a nerd to save the day!

People intentionally run over turtles here. :/
I remember my dad passed a turtle crossing the road once. I asked him to pull over so I could move it off the road. As I approached the turtle, a truck came flying by and swerved purposely to hit it...right in front of me. I was so upset for the longest time. That wasn't right and I hate watching innocent animals die. :/

Neller, that's awful! :(

My father was an environmental conservationist for many years and, every summer, we'd always have a bunch of rescued turtles living in our backyard. It was just a fact of life that you'd pull over and pick up one that you spotted on a road. We'd let them go once a few weeks had passed, but it was always fun to keep them for a little while and learn all the different species.

We try to save all the turtles we can, my family and I. We even saved a baby snapping turtle who wandered on the road. He wasn't happy to be in a bucket...but at least he wasn't killed!

Ouch, snapping turtles are nasty little guys. I've suffered a fair amount of bites from swimming too closely in fresh water ponds with them. But yeah, a bucket is better than the middle of the road. I'm sure he appreciated it on some level!

I've never been bitten by a snapping turtle. Always made sure we wouldn't get bitten, even when trapping them. :)
They're nasty, but they're still animals! Haha.

that's horrible.

The turtles get pretty big here, so its dangerous for cars as well as the turtles themselves. I'm sure there are peeps that do it intentionally as well. there are pyscos like that everywhere.

There are. And it's sad. :(
I wish we had big turtles around here! We have box turtles and smaller ones like that!
