I have a dark blue and a matte top coat. I should give them a go. The blue isn't super nice quality though so I'm not sure it would turn out looking as nice as it did in the photo above...

Yeah, they're pretty useful so you can make any regular polish look like matte polish.

@Zig - The regular strips or the gel strips? I actually had good results with the regulars, but the gel strips for whatever reason are more of a pain then regular nailpolish under the clear gel topcoat...

Oh wow... I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out as well. :( I know they can be kinda tricky at first, but with warm hands they are semi stretchable to get over your nail and they seemed to be long wearing on their own. Plus I love some of the fun prints you can get with them.

I haven't picked up the normal ones in some time, though, so it's possible they've changed the formula for them? *scratches head*

It was more like... They kept curling up and not laying flat so trying to position them on the nail was like super difficult. And then filing down the ends was tricky because it kept wanting to bubble up. I ended up messing up a few of them but they do seem to be very long lasting. So far I've had them on for about 5 days and they definitely still look better than normal nail polish would at this point.

I decided I'm going to do my nails today. A sparkly pearly color that reminds me of the milky way with little black stars stamped on top. Pics to come if I can remember!

Very pretty! That's the kind of nail art that I really like - Fancy, but not overwhelming or flashy.

I know this picture is a bit dark, but this is what I did with the Zoya Nail polish in Odette that a colleague gave me, plus some stickers a friend gave me eons ago.

I did a couple of coats of Sally Hansen's clear gel topcoat too to keep it looking good longer. :)

I believe china glaze sells a polish called matte magic to achieve that look. Sadly I have given up mainstream nail polish because of all the harmful chemicals. Just started exploring alternative nail polishes with less crap. I tried Keeki's Pure and simple polish in glazed donut. Nice neutral color, but you have to put it on and remove it in a certain way. Going to try some other colors soon.

@ Knerd: Thanks!

@ Izumi: Nice! I like that color and the stickers are cute.

@ Snowberry: I haven't heard of that brand before. What sort of special process do you have to do to apply and remove it?

Matte nail polish? It's really pretty. I know you can mix cornstarch into nail polish to make it matte, but I wasn't aware you could just buy a bottle of it. That seems easier than the mixing, honestly.

I have nail polish I'm wearing right now. It's really cheap stuff, though. It came in a package of eighteen for eight bucks. Small bottles, but for forty-four cents a bottle, I'm not going to complain, you know?

I have orange and blue fingernails, alternating which color goes on which finger. I also added a clear topcoat with glitter on the orange, and a clear blue topcoat with blue glitter on the blue ones. I could take a picture if anyone wants to see.

I never knew about the cornstarch thing! That's pretty interesting...

Not a bad deal on the mini polishes! I got something like that for one of my friends for Christmas. It was a set of like 14 polishes for $10.

Feel free to share any pics you want! My nails are currently bare. Not sure if I'll find the time to paint them today or not...

I changed out from the blue and orange, and now have teal with a silver finish.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, I had to use my DSi

My favorite nail polish colors are jade, turquoise, silver, black, and orange. I wasn't expecting orange to be such a great color on my nails, but it looked surprisingly fantastic and very springy. It was a light orange. Another favorite of mine is a pinkish shimmery beigish pearlish clearish sort of whatever-the-darn-tootin'-color-it-is. lol I don't have a picture, and I'm all out of it, but just take my word for it, it was gorgeous and totally classy.

I think orange can look really nice on some people. Unfortunately it doesn't really go with my skin tone. >.< I haven't painted my nails in a while. If I get time I should really do that this weekend.

It's been about a week/week and a half since I last painted my nails. I've just been pretty darn busy. I plan to do it this weekend, if not sooner. I have a ton of really fun shades to try out that I got from that discount warehouse for a buck a piece. Almost all of it is Nicole by Opi...
