That tends to be the case with a lot of people with above average IQs. :o I'm sure she's a nice girl. :)

Well, I think that's sort of the direction we're headed in terms of archiving. Nothing's being written down any more! The internet is where all of our knowledge is. Hell, even textbooks are becoming digital! Technology sure is exciting. I hope you managed to get the internship, if you decide to go for it! Have you already gotten the job at the library in your son's school?

I sing! I used to play trumpet, but I hated it. Theater wasn't where I was headed. I was hoping to direct a high school choir, since that's where I got my inspiration to become a music teacher. But since my school shot me down, I want to pursue something else, as stated. :)

If I recall, she was an English ed major. Voice and instruments are great programs for kids to be in! Which types of music to you prefer singing?

For now, I can volunteer a few hours a week. I've looked into indexing for digital books, but most are either textbooks - and have professional indexers working for them already - or fiction and they often don't require indexes. Rare books and so forth are still in museums. I'm seeing a bit more funding at private sites, but not much I can do right now. Volunteering will at least help me a bit with networking and continuing to build my portfolio, but I am thinking I need to keep a closer eye on tech.

Oh, my program consisted of learning a lot of art songs an arias from previous musical periods. I got a lot of Classical and Romantic era composers from my voice teacher. This one was my favorite:

That might be for the best for now, if you can't find anything. Networking is always good. :)

I'm incredibly tone deaf due to hearing loss after being in the Navy and working around aircraft years and years ago, so I appreciate you for sharing this!!

I have a few friends who are high school history teachers, and they love it! It's not the easiest subject to teach because people tend to find it boring, but if you can demonstrate how the past relates to current events, the students usually see the bigger picture!

Yeah, that's one of my favorites. :P I really like the premise of the song. The speaker of the song feels a certain pain in their heart which is driving them, and they say "If it's not love, then it MUST be love" (se non e' amore, amore sara.)

I didn't know you were in the Navy! How was that? I'm not one for the military.

That's what I love about history! There's also many different fields in history, which gives me some choices as to what I want to teach.

What a romantic sentiment! Fabulous!

I'm 48 (49 soon! Can't wait!) and was in during the Cold War right before the first Gulf War. It was not an ideal situation for me, but I learned a great deal about myself and how much I detest being told what to do/wear all the time! I was happy to leave when my enlistment was over and I counsel my kids not to join if they have other options. I think it's a great career for some, but not for me, and my kids are kind of like mini me's.

See?!? Ohhh. I have a good friend finishing her PhD in Middle Eastern studies. I think she started with an undergrad in World History/Asian Studies. Even learned to read/write in Arabic. Little tiny lady from Georgia! But that aspect of history appealed to her and she is a phenomenal scholar and educator. Her husband is teaching social studies in a high school and his stories are hilarious - and all about how he is able to keep the attention of the kids. I have no idea how you guys do it - I can figure out how to write a narrative for a museum exhibit and material for docents, but stand in front of people myself? Yikes! So, thank you for heading in this direction.

Yeah, I'm not one for authority. I don't take criticism well. :P

Oh, you're welcome! History is mostly about being able to find what interests you! As stated, what interests me is music history. :P
