Is It Worth It?



A normal high school, normal kids, and normal lives. What is there in this world of so-called normality? Is there any interest or games that are appealing out there? Well, for the popular kids, life is only a game and whoever gets caught up in it, is just like pawns in chess.

So now one of the most popular boys in school is dared by his friends to play "The Game" for years they played it, no one ever would back down in fear of losing their social status, and its never ending. The game is played like this: Whoever you bump into is who you must date, get to know their secrets, dump them, and use the secrets to blackmail the students into whatever the one with the knowledge would think of or wish.

Kyle has 4 sisters, 3 are older than him, and one is the youngest (4 years old) Kyle's youngest sister and himself live at home with his step father (his youngest sister's father) and their mother. Kyle has one pet and it's his simple black cat with a pink nose and blue eyes. It only liked him and the youngest sister. Kyle doesn't like his step father and that causes stress and tension at home.

Alisson Meadley
16 years of age (Sophomore)
Alisson has always been the 'awkward' type. She doesn't like to get involved in anything that has to do with others. Alisson is an only child, who has been forced to grow up faster, due to her mothers alcoholic ways. She had to fend for herself, in order not to starve. Which in return has made her lonesome and independent as some might say. But on the inside, Alisson is still a child yearning to get out and have a childhood of it's own.

"Hey Kyle, why don't we play a game?" Sam spoke up looking at who he called his best friend. Kyle looked over as he was talking to someone else, today he wasn't really smiling as much as he normally did, he had been really tired lately. He was for sure going to sleep in history class later. Nothing was going to stop him either, no teachers, students, or anyone else. "What game?" Kyle asked Sam and received his reply "The Game, the game where whoever you bump into next, you have to go out with, and if chosen not to, you will no longer be popular and be casted as an outsider." I]'Oh great, that sounds like fun'[/I] "Alright fine, when does it start?" it was still the morning unfortnally and so everyone was heading to lockers, eating, rushing, going to classes, or just hanging out. "Now" Sam laughed pushing Kyle right into someone as he stumbled losing balance and they both ended up on the floor. "Oh, I am so sorry" Kyle spoke realizing what just happened and looked up to see who he bumped into.

Alisson walked quickly into the doors of the big, sleek school of hers. Today just wasn't her day. She was running late, tired, hungry, and slightly cold. She ran to her locker, undid the lock, and opened it, grabbing the books she needed. Yawning she began her descent around the corner towards her first class, not wanting to go at all. She knew she couldn't sleep or skip school, because her mother would FREAK. Sighing softly, she passed the popular guys. Thinking for a moment, she remembered how cruel and mean they always had been to her. Making her mood even more sour, she kept walking. Until someone bumped into her. Dropping her books, and falling to the ground, Alisson was not happy. She looked at the Boy. His name was Kyle and he was just as popular as his friends, if not more. "Seriously? Am I really that invisible to you?" Alisson watched as her books began getting taken down the hall, due to the insane hallway traffic. She sat up and ran a hand through her hair. She got up and just watched her books keep getting farther and farther down the hallway.

Kyle knew he wasn't going to be able to get pass this so easily, but, it wasn't that much of his fault when his friends just shoved him out into the hallway without any warning what so ever. Kyle ran over collecting her books making others stop or move out of the way, some of them did, and others tried to play keep away, but, he still got them all back including any loose papers that might have fallen out. Kyle straightened them while walking back to help her up if she was willing to be helped up that is, and give her back her books. "Here, I'm sorry about that, I don't know what's gotten into my friends" wasn't that much of friends, but, the only ones he had so he kept them as friends.

Alisson got up quickly and watched as Kyle grabbed all of her papers and straighten them. She looked up at him and shrugged. "It's fine. I'm kinda used to it." She grabbed the papers and mumbled a thank you. "I've got to get to class." Alisson and gave a small friendly smile, and turned towards the direction of her class. She turned the corner and stopped, looking through her papers. Everything was out of order, but was still there. She sighed a sigh of relief, and kept walking to her dreaded first class. English. She walked into the designated class, sat down, and began to organize.

(tempted to make them have english together...but...tempted to make it second period too...)

Kyle didn't realize he had first hour with the girl he just bumped into, he didn't even know her name, but, he had seen her around before. They (his friends and himself) were always making fun of anyone who kept to themselves, though, it was a contradiction because he knew what it was like to want to be alone and not around a bunch of people or idiots. "Thanks alot guys" Kyle said to himself knowing his friends had ran off down the hallway to their classes, now the point of this game, in which they tried to keep secret and not tell anyone so it wouldn't get out and they might get in trouble for their game. The class bell rung to start class, Kyle ran to his English class with "You're late, Mr. Matthews" Mr. Jennings, the English teacher for the sophomores and juniors said to Kyle as he didn't make it on time for the bell to end. "Take a seat where ever is open" Mr. Jennings originally didn't like Kyle, but, that was going to effect his way of teaching or the way he would treat the kid. Kyle mumbled something quietly and went to take a seat in the back not looking where or who he had sat next to. On his left was the girl from before, Mr. Jennings began talking about Shakespeare and Caesar.

Alisson continued to try and put everything back. It was actually very hard, but she needed to get it done right there and then. She didn't want to try and do it on a park bench on her way home. Hearing the bell ring and some talking, Alisson didnt look up. She then heard the teacher talking about some people who weren't the most interesting. Realizing she didn't have a pen, she looked to the guy sitting next to her. "Pst. Do you have a pen by any chance?" Alisson whispered this quietly, hopefully not getting the attention of the teacher. As soon as she looked him in the face, she realized it was Kyle. Thinking to herself, she said, "Great, another class with an idiot.". She shook her head. "Nevermind. I'll get one from someone else." She tapped the person in front of her on the shoulder and asked them. Apparently, the person in front of her didn't have an extra. Alisson sighed and leaned back against her chair in defeat. This was going to be a long class. )

Kyle picked out one of his black pens and handed it to her with a small not under the clip side of the cap. Kyle knew that this wasn't going to be easy on many accounts, but, first he would have to get her trust. The note was an apology of the event that occurred this morning.

Hey, keep the pen, sorry about this morning

of course he meant sorry for the event that occurred. Kyle went back to ignoring the teacher while texting some people he had to get back to on some texts. The bad thing about popularity is you had to be around alot of people and do everything like they do or they would cast you out of the circle.

Alisson read the note and nodded. She mouthed a simple, "It's fine." And looked back at her work. She frowned at the paper. She hated English, and her English teacher. As the hour went by, Alisson just blankly wrote down random facts the teacher had been talking about, and by the end, only three notes had been taken. As the final bell rang, Alisson grabbed her things and was one of the firsts out of the small class. Making her way down the halls she stopped at her locker for a moment. She could feel a slight bruise coming from the collision this morning, but shook it off. Returning her Language Arts book back to her locker, she grabbed a random notebook and some other things for Math. She had Mrs. Jones for math. It wasn't a fun class, but Alisson managed. She somehow maintained a B average in all her classes. Dazed in random thoughts, Alisson didn't hear the bell telling her to go to class immediately.
