Oh. THAT PART. That's the only way to get to Dr. Satan!! XD Yeah, they prolly could've left that part out or expanded a bit. But it was really cool. I met the guy who played Captain Spaulding. He was awesome. Really funny guy.

I liked the old haunting better too, the cgi in the newer one kind of took away from the scariness for me. House on haunted hill was a good watch, the remake was entertaining, but I love Geoffrey Rush.

The book Pet Cemetery was slow to start but most of Stephen King's stuff is, he's good at middles but the beginnings seem forced to me and the ends seem like he got bored and pulled something out of his ..ahem...hat. The Stand was the worst for that, the whole hand of God thing >.< made everything leading up to it absolutely pointless.

@Queen...but...but...the hill folk....there out there

@Rinetteable
I saw the new version awhile ago, kinda made me hesitant to watch the 1963 version. I've been going through some JHorror ghost movies now, the suspense is great!

JHorror takes the absolute cake!! It has this combination of strange, unpredictable-ness and grotesque horror.

Got bored at work one day and watched the House on Haunted Hill, the original. Nevermind the campiness, it was a decent movie. Love the pool of acid. Made me giggle. Especially the skeleton chasing the chick.

Probably should post like a made woman. But bed time is coming soon for me...long day tomorrow at work.

The Ring had me terrified! I loved it!

Shutter and Tale of Two Sisters were good too (though not Japan, still Asian Horror and nightmare fuel). I especially like Tale of Two Sisters's twist, I so did not see the ending coming.

Slit was kind of creepy. It was about Kuchisaki-Onna.
But Japanese folklore and Japanese monsters in general are really scary. Seriously. If you look them up, they'll scare the willies out of you.

It's amazing how different Japanese monsters are from what I've heard in local stories. Being so different, it makes me wonder if there's basis for these creatures... and then I give myself more nightmares imagining the real-life versions *shudder* Just the way the ghosts move in those movies is freaky as heck.

Ring left too many questions for me in someways, but it did have the uber creepy scary factor. Makes it a 9.5 on my scary scale.

My husband bought me a set of four scary movies from Wal-Mart...Secrets of the Clown was god awful. Good movie for Mystery Science Theatre 3000

Yeah, there are some pretty crazy monsters out there. Have you ever heard of the penanggalan? It's a Malaysian vampire that would feed on pregnant women and their newborns. It flew around as a head with dangling intestines! When returning home to it's body it would have to soak it's intestines in vinegar so they would fit back into it's body!

Rodd and I went and saw them in the movie theatre. Never seen a theatre so packed...we saw Jack the Giant Killer. What a piece of crap movie, but we laughed so hard. Almost peed my pants.

I love the penanggalan. I just cannot spell the damned name!! XD The Phillipinos have some pretty scary monsters, too. There's the Tiwanak, a demon that takes the form of a baby and lures unwary travelers to become its' snack. And there's the Door Knockers. If they knock on your door, someone will die.

I love folklore.

Ohh dear Zod >.< they made a nyan cat yume

I wonder if they just seem to have weirder imaginations than americans or if the asian monsters are as cliche to them as dracula/frankestein/the wolfman are to us?

I've always wondered that. I'm pretty sure they get sick of being told that so-and-so is going to get them if they don't behave. lol
